The two of them hurried through the door out of the rain, their coats soaking wet. Despite their search for Billy being a success and no harm had been done to Hannah it seemed, both Max and Eleven remained unconvinced.
"Don't get me wrong, I'm…relieved they're both okay" Max was saying, removing her hood as she kicked her shoes off in the hallway. Eleven did the same, following her friends lead as it was her house they were in now. Max interrupted her own progress of taking off her coat to turn back to her. "It's just…just tell me you're sure about what you saw."
"I'm sure" she insisted. She saw Billy through her powers and she sensed Hannah was in danger.
Max believed her. She knew El wouldn't lie. It just doesn't make sense. When they saw they they seemed fine. And yet something seemed off. She sighed. Maybe she was just overreacting over nothing. She did have something else on her mind right now. "So…are we going to talk about it?" She asked.
"Billy?" El asked.
Max shook her head. "No. The…the other thing. What happened out there earlier?"
Eleven gulped, averting her eyes down blushing a little. She hoped Max would've forgotten about what happened.
Though thinking about it, it wasn't Eleven's fault. When they were out in the rain, before they found Billy at Hannah's house, they pulled over on their bicycle because Max was beginning to freak out. She was worried. Worried about her step-brother, worried he might've done something to Hannah, worried what they might find. Eleven did her best to reassure her, even though she was worried too. She caught her by the arms as she paced through the rain, the water running over their hoods nearly obscuring their sight. It forced Eleven to move closer so she could lock eyes with Max. "We'll find them" she promised, squeezing Max's hands reassuringly. "It'll be alright."
Max met her gaze, finding the strength to slow her breathing and calm down. She was grateful Eleven was with her. So much so she impulsively leaned in and kissed Eleven on the lips. Eleven blinked in surprise, her eyes widening as Max immediately pulled away in embarrassment. "I'm sorry" she stammered. "I couldn't help it. I…"
Eleven suddenly leaned in and kissed her back, following a similar impulse. It wasn't the first time they kissed, last night was.
Max froze when Eleven kissed her. She wasn't expecting it. She wasn't expecting to kiss her. She thought what happened last night was a one off. They certainly forgot all about it when Eleven did her little party trick to distract the pair of them from their kiss and near miss with Hopper. They couldn't afford to think about it now either. Not with her brother out there. So when Eleven pulled away hesitantly, stunned by her own actions as much as Max was, the red haired girl shook herself out of the shock suggesting they get back to the search. Eleven agreed, happy to try and forget her embarrassing show of affection.
Thinking about it now they were out of the rain, El turned back to Max. "You kissed me" she said.
"You kissed me back" she countered, a tiny smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. El tried not to blush, uncomfortable under her friends gaze. Max blushed too, brushing a strand of hair out of her eyes. "So…should we talk about it?" She asked nervously.
El fidgeted in the hallway, unable to meet her gaze. She wasn't sure she wanted to. Talking about it might complicate things. She knew she was meant to be "broken up" with Mike, and Max on a break from Lucas, but they still cared for him. El knew Max was using the breakup to make a point, waiting for the boys to make things up. But their kiss, how quickly they fell into it last night and now, she was so confused. Does this mean they like like each other. "Mike" she whispered.
Max sighed, nodding. She was thinking of Lucas too. "I guess I was a bit of a mess earlier" she admitted. "Thanks for calming me down."
"Friends" was all El needed to say.
Max smiled at her. "Yeah. I mean, it's not like we we're…I like you, but not…like that, you know" she said, feeling the need to specify that point.
Eleven nodded in agreement, relieved Max was the one to say it. "Should I go?" Eleven asked, still partly wanting to escape the uncomfortable conversation.
"No, it'll be fine" she replied. "It's just a sleepover. We did it once." El nodded, happy to stay. Especially since Hopper isn't going to be home tonight. "We should probably have a shower first though" Max suggested, looking at their wet clothes. El's brow furrowed inquisitively. Max caught herself, clarifying "not together, I mean. We don't need to share a shower or anything."
"Share?" El asked in confusion. She wasn't aware peopled could share a shower.
"Yeah, you know, like couples do?" Max explained awkwardly. She saw Eleven's reaction and realized this was a new concept for the sheltered girl. "It's a thing some people do when they're…you know, boy friend and girlfriend?"
"You and Lucas?"
"Oh, god no!" She laughed. "No way. That'd be weird. And uncomfortable. Our shower is really small. If we were both in there we'd both be pressed against each other and…" she trailed off, sensing the subject going off topic.
Eleven couldn't help it now as she looked at Max, her gaze glancing down to hall to where she gestured to the bathroom. Her imagination started picturing the shower, the small cubicle, her mind putting herself and Max in that cubicle together. Somewhere from her mind her imagination conjured the pair of them naked and kissing, their bodies pressed together as they made out, water running over their skin. Her heart began racing as she imagined it, feeling a tightening in her gut as she felt the same feeling she got when she first kissed Max last night. She closed her eyes and tried to chase it away, but it got more vivid and overtook her thoughts.
Max looked at Eleven as her expression seemed to change, her attention drifting off somewhere. Max wondered if she'd fallen into some kind of trance and took a step forward. Before she could snap her out of it she felt something pass across her body, making her gasp. It felt weird, but good weird, like a dozen hands brushing over her. She felt it again, gentle brushes making her inhale. She looked at El, who was panting a little under her breath too. Max felt it wash over her body again, stronger, making the girl moan as it brushed over more sensitive areas. She couldn't be sure but she thought Eleven was doing this, her telekinetic powers manipulating her. She took a breath trying to ignore how good it felt, ignoring the thoughts that were circulating her mind as she approached her friend, reaching out to shake her by the shoulder. "El?" She called out.
Eleven snapped her eyes open, the fantasy of her and Max making out and fondling each other under the shower vanishing as she locked eyes with a concerned look. She looked around, relieved to still be in the hallway with their coats on. "Sorry" she squeaked.
"What was that?" Max asked, the sensations gone now. She looked at El, more sure now she was inadvertently doing this. "What were you thinking about?" She asked.
Eleven looked at her and turned red. "Shower" she confessed.
Max didn't ask for details. She didn't need to. "Me too" she replied, feeling butterflies in her stomach thinking about the images her own imagination had created. While eleven was imagining the two kissing, Max was picturing something much more passionate and intimate, the redhead cradling the young woman as her hands explored her naked body, their moans like music in their ears. Max had begun exploring pornography recently, and some of it was transcribing to her fantasies with the girl. She knew she shouldn't, they both had boyfriends.
Ex boyfriends their minds seemed to remind them as their eyes locked onto each other, pupils dilating, attraction sparking between the pair.
The next thing they knew, they were throwing themselves at each other. Simultaneously, both Eleven and Max stepped forward and met with a kiss, their arms wrapping around each other. Max took hold of El's face as she kissed her, pulling her close while Eleven's hands missed her neck a few inches, landing on her chest. Max gasped when her palms pressed against her developing boobs, prompting her own hands to drifted lower to run over Eleven's chest too. The girl moaned into the kiss, her body heating up with desire as they began to make out. They didn't care they were soaking wet, only that they wanted to hold each other. Kiss each other. Feel each other. Their hands reached under coats, running up their backs or finding their way down to their bottoms, caressing their necks and chests. Eleven's hand movements dislodged Max's coat from her shoulders, following the curve down her arm until it got stuck.
Max was the first to break the kiss, coming up for air to glance at the front door. She thought she heard a car pulling up. It occurred to her they should move. Her mom would definitely kill her if she caught her kissing a girl. She grabbed Eleven by the wrists and led her to her bedroom, hurriedly rushing inside and shutting the door. As soon as she latched the lock she spun back and resumed making out with her friend, backing her into the bedroom.
Eleven tried to keep up with the girl as she got caught up in the moment. This was new to both of them so they just let their instincts do the talking. Max's instincts told her she had to get these wet clothes off, they were getting in the way and she was cold. She let her coat drop from her arms at her feet before immediately whipping off her top, tossing it aside and continuing to kiss El. The girl stumbled a little seeing Max in her bra, her freckled skin now on display for her hands to brush over. She followed her lead and removed her coat, panting in anticipation as Max helped her with her dress. She lifted her arms so Max could pull her clothes over her head, leaving her in her underwear so Max could caress her pale skin. Someone's hands undid Max's pants, maybe Eleven or maybe not. Either way the jeans got stuck halfway down her knees leading to the pair tripping over their feet and falling to the floor just short of the bed.
They landed in a gasp and a giggle and Max landed on top of El, her body laying over hers. They paused their kiss to laugh and kick Max's jeans away, leaving the half naked girls to get tangled up together and make out some more. Their kiss became steamy and passionate, more intimate that either had kissed a boy before. They could feel each other's heartbeat against their chests as they pressed together, her hands and feet running up their legs and back. Max's lips drifted from El's mouth to her neck, sucking on her flesh making the curious young teen moan as she let the red haired teenager take over, letting the pleasure she was experiencing take over. She leaned forward to kiss her shoulder, her fingers curling dragging her nails over her shoulder blades. The strap of her bra got hooked, pulled down by accident as Eleven bit her lip, her legs wrapping around Max's waist. Max panted as she grabbed her hand, their fingers interlocking as she met her lips again, her hips swaying against El's rubbing their groins together. She felt excited, nervous, aroused. She wanted to kiss her forever, take her clothes off and…
"Mike" Eleven muttered, the name escaping her mouth like a gasp. The word froze them both, breaking the spell. They stopped and looked at each other, suddenly realizing what they were doing. She didn't same his name because he was thinking about him while she was making out with Max. She said it because she realized she didn't want to do this with someone else. She wanted Mike. No matter how much she liked Max, she liked Mike.
Max realized the same about Lucas in that moment, her cheeks flushing bright red as she leapt off El's body and gasped in shock. "What are we doing?" She asked mortified.
"I don't know" El said, sitting up pulling her knees to her chest, red faced with embarrassment.
Max looked at her half naked body and quickly grabbed a shirt, feeling rather self conscious all of a sudden. Fortunately Eleven was used to being indecent in front of strangers. Once she pulled it back on she brushed the wet hair from her face and tried not to freak out. She was sure she wasn't into girls, but this was the second time she and El had done this. Worse, they had gone further than she and Lucas had, further than El and Mike had gone. "Should we…I feel like we need to talk about this" she stammered.
"Yes" Eleven agreed. She was getting confused about her feelings, not sure what was right or wrong. She was told only boys and girls could be a couple. She didn't know a girls could have feelings for girls. She wasn't sure if she had feelings for Max. No, I like Mike. "Talk, but later" she suggested.
Max nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, later. Good idea" she agreed. She looked at their wet clothes and their soaking hair and returned to her original suggestion. "We should shower. Separately!" She added quickly. Eleven nodded, already rising to her feet. "You can go first. Towels are in the cupboard across the hall. Bathroom is on the left" she told her.
"Thanks" El whispered, hurrying out of the bedroom in her underwear so Max could collect their wet clothes and put them in the wash. She took their coats out into the hall and hung them up.
Once she saw Eleven step into the bathroom she slumped to the wall and sighed, kicking herself for…for whatever it was she was doing. "This is crazy. What is wrong with me?" She muttered under her breath. She shook her head and decided to put it out of her mind. She knew the smart thing was to cancel the sleepover, but she didn't want to kick Eleven out in this rain. Hopefully things wouldn't be too awkward, even as they share her bed for the night.
She crossed the hall to get some things while she heard the shower begin running. She crossed the bathroom door and noticed it was slightly open. Without meaning too she got a peek inside and saw Eleven removing the last of her clothing, her naked teenage body on display as she took a second to compose herself before stepping under the water. Max got a glimpse of her and immediately felt the butterflies in her stomach as her body began to tingle.
She shook her head and forced her legs to carry her back to her room. Okay, maybe she won't be offended if one of us sleeps on the floor she thought in a panic.
