Summery/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of A Frostbitten Arrow. Enjoy the 1600-word chapter. I don't own RWBY or Destiny, Monty Oum, Rooster Teeth, and Bungie do.

(Streets of Atlas 12:25PM December 12th.)

Mason turned and shot the Dreg through its head, his gun smoking as he did so. Mason turned to the rest of the dozen dead corpse he left in the snow-covered street. Dozens of parked cars, some caked with fallen blood upon them. Mason stalked through the streets.

"How many now?" Mason questioned, twirling his gun as he did so, dropping a spent clip, peppering the ground with bullets. "I counted at least 20 after that last patrol I killed." Mason stated, pausing to dust off his wet cloak.

The cold bite of winter bit at him. His insulated suit kept the majority out, his light kept the rest at bay.

"Several other patrols, their branching out, trying to spread…" Nomad started to report before he was silenced by a series of explosions.

Both turned to see the Ketch bombarding the castle. A Hard Light Dust shield could be seen, Mason could see the trademark honeycomb structure of the device as explosions began to rain down upon them.

"To get them away from the castle?" Mason questioned, bringing a hand to his belt as he did so. "Report it to the emperor, he's got company coming to his front door. We're going to be busy." Mason said as he reloaded his gun.

Nomad was about to ask what Mason meant before a pair of Skiffs floated towards them. The snow picked up, blanketing the area in fields of white and grey as the hunter faced the new reinforcements.

"Gut feeling?" Nomad questioned to which the guardian gave a nod, curious as to how this would play out.

"I'll contact the royal family, I'm sure they know already." Nomad said as Mason took cover, curious as to how this would play out. "Just don't get shot." Nomad added to which the hunter chuckled, far more amused then threatened.

(With Weiss)

Weiss almost collapsed onto her bare feet, the window shattering into thousands of shards behind her. Even if the craft was unable to punch through the shields of the castle? The force behind it was enough to cause some damage.

"There's something on the front lawn!" A squad of Atlesian soldiers said as they rushed past the Atlesian Princess who slipped into her closet with the box.

"Weiss, are you alright!?" Winter questioned outside the door before the sounds of gunfire below caused her to look downwards. "Status report! Commander Clover, where are you!? The enemy force has landed troops below the shields. The castle is under attack!" Winter questioned over her radio as she sighed.

How did an enemy force get within striking distance of Atlas? The kingdom was support to be a fortress not even the guns of Mistral were supposed to be able to breach.

"We're engaging enemy troops in the city, they've landed siege units, your highness." Clover reported, his voice sounding as calm as ever. "I've gotten a report from one of those Hunters. They've wiped out at least a quarter of the enemy wave themselves. They said they're on their way back as soon they deal with the enemy." Clover added as Winter looked into the room. It looked untouched by the enemy.

"Weiss, stay safe. I'm going to handle the enemy downstairs. Do NOT come downstairs until I or father come and get you." Winter stated before drawing her sword as she raced to go join the rest of the royal guard in engaging the enemy.

"I'm afraid I can't do that, sister." Weiss said as she paused to open the box. "Klein, you had left one last present in here, I need it." Weiss said as she turned on the light.

Weiss just hoped the royal guard was ok.

(With Mason)

Mason launched into a somersault, flipping over a car which the captain's shock blade cut into it. He turned to shoot a dreg who tried to stab him. The alien bandit collapsed; a bullet punched through their chest. He turned in time to duck another slash of the captain's sword.

"You know, just because you're a better fighter then the fallen doesn't mean you have to keep showing it." Nomad said as Mason leapt back onto a car.

"I'm shooting them as fast and efficiently as possible, Nomad." Mason stated to which the ghost fell silent. "How are things at the castle? I thought nothing could get through Atlesian hard light tech." Mason questioned, curious about what was going on.

"The attack must have damaged a generator; it's currently not operating fully…" Nomad reported as Mason turned to address the captain.

He fired, the sounds of gunshots ringing out as the shield of the soldier vanished, bursting into light as it did so.

"That isn't telling me how bad things are, Nomad." Mason said as he leapt off the car, drawing his knife as he did so.

The captain slashed at Mason who avoided it, landing on his shoulders. He stabbed the knife down, piercing the fallen's skull as it screeched and struggled, trying to throw him off as it slowly but surely fell to the ground, smashing into the car and dying. He turned and stopped a vandal's lunge before he shot the soldier in the chest a moment later, it fell to the side.

"Mason, we should get back to the castle." Nomad said as Mason turned and looked at the battle around them.

"Their inside?" Mason questioned before Nomad shook his head.

"No, laying siege to the outside defenses." Nomad reported before it blinked, curious as to how this had been. "And I'm detecting a trio of unidentified transports, there's something else there besides simply the House of Devils." Nomad added as Mason sighed, annoyed about this.

"Night just keeps getting better, doesn't it?" Mason asked as Nomad nodded, powering up to bring up his sparrow. "Make sure to tell them I'm on my way back, and also? Maybe tell them about the walkers they love using. There's bound to be a baron behind this, there always is." Mason added, pausing to allow the sparrow to materialize under him.

He revved the engine on the crimson black vehicle, forcing it forward as it sped into the cold night. Both started to think about how the fallen had managed to stage an attack this large.

"Nomad? Care telling me how this happened? We both know what the House of Devils want here…" Mason said as he skipped over a broken car, continuing to speed towards the castle through snow covered streets and back allies. "It doesn't make any sense, though. Their never ones to attack an entire kingdom, specially one who's keeping them at bay this long." Mason added as he swerved once more.

He would be quite happy and enjoying this if they weren't burning down a city. The fallen weren't usually this brutal, they were thieves, sure, but they wouldn't resort to such awesome destruction without a good reason when it came down to it.

"Maybe ask them when we're done beating them back." Nomad said as both sped up the mountain. "I'm getting reports they had deployed walkers; the royal guard is under siege. Their stepping up their assault on the castle." Nomad stated as he shook his head, curious as he thought about at the moment.

"Then their getting desperate at the second." Mason stated as he paused his pursuit.

(With Weiss)

While the hard light shields kept out a bombardment? The early prototypes did NOT keep out the ground troops at the moment, this was an issue as the fallen army started to advance on them. It was quite curious when Weiss thought about it, but then again? That came with technology sooner or later, there were issues with any technology. It was something that Weiss would have to inform her father at the end of the road.

"All units, we have 2 or 3 platoons on the front lawn, more reinforcements are approaching!" Winter stated over the radio. "Wha… They breached the castle walls, all units lock down the permitter, they will NOT be killing any of us without a fight." Winter yelled as she cursed before the radio fell silent a few seconds later.

Weiss knew what it meant, it was clear that they'd be attacking the rest of the army sooner or later. She shook her head with annoyance.

"I've gotten reports of breaches, their breaking into the castle!" Weiss heard as she removed the case's cover.

(With Mason)

Mason roared up the hill, pausing to leap off his sparrow and landing in a crouch, his gun drawn.

"How are they getting inside?" Mason questioned as he hummed, slowly walking forward.

"Mesh Generator, their piggybacking the signal. How?" Nomad questioned to himself as the hunter slowly walked through the burning front yard. "Mason, I want to inform you that their launching a full attack on the main gate." Mason heard from Nomad as he did so.

Mason began his walk in that direction before something caught his eye.

"Well, you don't see THAT every morning." Mason muttered.
