(Solitas, Atlas, Schnee Castle 12:25PM December 12th.)
Mason had seen a LOT as a hunter, creatures the size of buildings, warlords with dozens of ancient relics…. But this was new.
He watched Weiss flip off the broken remains of a piece of metal, an intricately designed sword with several chambers and a small symbol on the hilt held in her right hand. She wore what he could only call an armored dress, one that was deep ocean blue with red trim and diamond pieces, she had insulated blue gloves and belts which kept what he knew was interwoven Atlesian armor into it… The Atlesian symbol on it gave it away. She also wore blueish black boots with a snowflake design.
Weiss pierced a dreg, driving her rapier through the creature's chest. She turned in time to block the shock blade of a vandal which she dispatched with an axe kick and a slice which removed its head. Weiss turned to look a pair of staggered royal guards before she turned, rapier raised towards the fallen who were surprised at this.
"Damn, didn't think the princess was THAT adventurous." Mason said as Weiss lunged through the smoke and fire towards her enemies. "Think we should help, or you think she can handle it?" Mason questioned with amusement as he looked at the carnage going on in front of him.
Weiss was good, he could see the woman carving through their ranks like it was nobody's business. It almost made him feel sorry for them… If they hadn't the desire to kill almost everyone and everything in their path.
"Yes, because I doubt Ms. Schnee has ever faced a Fallen walker." Nomad stated to which Mason could only hum. "I hate to admit you were right about her, though. How could you tell she was like this, though?" Nomad questioned as the ghost watched Weiss rush into combat once more.
"She had that gleam in her eyes, remember?" Mason said before walking towards Weiss.
(With Weiss)
It had all been a blur of motion and instinct from her. One moment she was unveiling her weapon? The next the front gate exploded by the blasts of several fallen vandals and dregs. She leapt out into battle, her weapon flashing in the moonlight as she did to.
She engaged the captain of the squadron in battle. Her sword blocking his dual blades, she backflipped away, his blade nicking the edge of her sword as Weiss landed in a crouch.
"Hmm." Weiss stated before she leapt forward, parrying one of their blades as her sword cut into their shield.
The captain roared as they lunged forward only to greet empty air, Weiss flipped over them, nicking them in the head as she did so, she was interested in how these creatures fought. They had some different versions of combat styles, but she saw some version of Mistral sword fighting in their stance.
She held up her other hand, curling her thumb, ring, and pinkie finger into her fist. Her eyes glowed eternal blue as she did so, a glyph appearing behind her, spinning with the Schnee crest emblazoned upon it.
The captain stopped as dozens of ices like shards zipped from the portal, slamming into the captain, several cut apart his shield as he was pushed backwards, his shields glitching as he did so.
One slammed into his helmet, smashing through the lenses of his mask in the process. He moved backwards as another glyph appeared under Weiss's feet. The captain raised his swords, his remaining eye narrowing in hatred of this human who dared to damage him.
He was interrupted by Weiss shooting forward with the speed of a bullet, her sword carved through his piecemeal like armor. It almost made her question how they were so dangerous.
She heard the sound of guns behind her, turning to see a dreg and vandal aiming their weapons at her. Weiss turned to engage them; her blade gleaming as she did so.
She was interrupted by a pair of gunshots splitting the air, cutting down both soldiers which spun, their skulls exploding as their souls left their bodies. Weiss rotated to see Mason holding his blue and purple gun which sparkled in the moonlight, the barrel smoking and mixing with the snowflakes raining down on them.
"So, I was right about the eye thing." Mason said, lowering his weapon as Weiss hummed before sheathing the sword. "I was heading back to take care of them, I guess you can kill fallen just fine." Mason said as he holstered his gun on his hip.
"I couldn't just stand by and let the others fight for us." Weiss said as the duo looked up at the snow drops falling on them. "My mother is the only one of the family not fighting currently. I'm sure she's ok now. So, these are Eliksni?" Weiss questioned, looking at the creature with interest.
"Their known mostly as fallen, but yes." Nomad reported to which Mason rolled his eyes. "And I would advise that you do NOT let you guard down, they have reinforcements or perhaps… Whatever is left of their ground forces. I am curious what would be their objective, they've lost at least 50 troops and open appeared to have left superficial damage on the city." Nomad said as he looked as he shook his body with interest.
Mason said nothing, he knew that Nomad was smart enough to understand that something was off. They were soldiers, pirates, a species that thrived on the suffering they brought with them. If simply one warrior was invested in this city? They would cut into it regardless of if it cost them 10 soldiers or a 1000.
"This is going to be interesting." Mason said as he cracked his fingers, curious as he did so. "Are you good to fight? Your pretty good with that sword when it comes down to it. They have tanks that are going to be quite tougher to cut through." Mason said as he shook his head.
"How can you be sure that will be able to get here? There's got to be plenty of Atlesian Paladins deployed." Weiss said as Mason hummed, shrugging as he did so. "Besides? I've heard that they are not as powerful as they seem to be." Weiss said to which Mason shrugged as he did so.
"This will be dangerous anyway, fallen don't like losing at all." Mason said as he turned to the sound of engines started to move towards them. "Nomad? I'm guessing that these ships are powerful enough to rip us down when it comes down to it? those have to be more warriors here? Plenty of soldiers coming here." Mason questioned as he shook his head.
That was before a pair of skiffs approached, their guns blazing as the duo looked at each other. The blasts scattered around them; their systems caught off guard by the snowstorm blazing around them.
"Show me what you got, snowflake." Mason said as he turned to look around, grabbing his gun as he did so. "Aim for the heads, their armor is weaker in the joints. Trust me, I've killed enough of them to know how they function in combat." Mason added, spinning the gun ready as he did so.
"This is my first battle officially." Weiss said as she readied her sword for combat. "I'll explain later, can you distract them?" Weiss questioned as Mason nodded, curious as to her plan.
"Do you mean shooting them? Because I'm damn good at doing that." Mason said to which Nomad clicked his voice a button later. "Go nuts when it comes down to it, they're going to try to shoot you, but their eager to fight. The ones with swords are the higher-ranking warrior soldiers." Mason stated as he turned and fired.
The bullet pinned a dreg down, the rest of the wave of fallen surging forwards as they prepared to kill the two humans.
"Try not getting shot in return." Mason heard from Nomad as he continued shooting.
He watched Weiss step off an island, leaping into the air and impaling the first dreg she saw, she twirled around a hail of gunfire, somersaulting into the air as she did so. She watched to look around with interest, she was quite willing to see what was happening next.
Weiss stabbed through a dreg, slicing the warrior's body in half lengthwise and showering the ground with ether. Weiss turned in time to deflect a shock blade wielded by a vandal. She backpedaled as more vandals joined the first, 2 of which seemed to wield guns.
She turned to see a vandal charging their rifle at her, Weiss was about to bring up Myrtenaster before a bullet cut through his helmet, dropping him to the ground a few seconds later.
Mason vaulted over cover, his gun blazing in his left hand, his knife clasped in his right. He turned, gutting a vandal as Weiss slashed one of the vandals across the stomach as she parried the next strike from the other vandal.
"Tell me, how long you been practicing with that sword for a fight like this?" Mason questioned, dodging a slash from the captain. "You're fighting like you had some experience. I'm thinking you trained a few months, a year? Someone taught you? Some of that footwork is Mistrial, like a Warlock as well." Mason added as he turned, shooting a dreg as he and Weiss stood back-to-back.
"How did you…?" Weiss questioned as Mason chuckled, the fallen moving to surround them.
"Reading people is part of surviving out in Vacuo." Mason said, spinning his knife through his fingers. "Your good, but I wouldn't try the fallen for your first outing. These guys are cutthroats, scavengers like me. Their damn good at fighting dirty and conquering, trust me, I've fought enough fallen to understand them." Mason said as the duo looked at the dozen or so fallen surrounding them.
A cold blizzard whipped through the area, covering the bodies surrounding them. Both were curious how to fight these monsters.
"Do you think you can hold your own in a serious fight yet?" Mason asked as his cloak billowed behind him. "The big one with the sword and cloak? There the leaders of the packs. We kill him? We're break their spirit; you want to handle the ones with guns or the ones with swords?" Mason questioned as he shook his head.
"I'll handle the ones with guns, can you back me up and make sure to clear a path?" Weiss questioned as Mason nodded.
"Yes, just don't slow down, their bloodthirsty. They will not give you a second to breath." Mason said, clicking the hammer of his gun as he did so. "On 3, ok?" Mason asked as he leveled his knife at the captain with intent to kill.
"1. 2…." Weiss counted before both lunged forwards, their weapons ready and flying as they did so. "Keep ready!" Weiss added to which Mason chuckled.
He was fully ready for this battle. He knew just how well this could go. There was too much at stake for this to easily end. He'd keep fighting when it came down to it.
"Just keep fighting, we're get through them eventually." Mason added, pausing to think for a second.
He flipped over an assaulting vandal, his knife spinning through his fingers as he did so. He was quite curious as to how this was going.
