Summery/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of A Frostbitten Arrow. Enjoy the 2000-word chapter. I don't own RWBY or Destiny, Monty Oum, Rooster Teeth, and Bungie do.
(Solitas, Atlas, Schnee Castle 1:10PM December 12th.)
Weiss looked at Mason in shock. When she was told about hunters? She had heard of disheveled, rugged warriors who were beaten down by Vacuo's deserts.
What she was greeted by was a boy who seemed to be her age if not a year older. He had dark crimson eyes with a scar running from his right check. His matted down black hair was slightly dirty and unkept, but he still looked quite young for a warrior.
"This thing isn't exactly comfy when it's frozen solid." Mason said as he turned to Weiss. "What? I got something on my face?" Mason questioned as he held his helmet under his arm.
"I…" Weiss questioned as she blinked. "Are all hunters this young?" Weiss asked as she leaned forward to look at him once more.
"Well, I was taught how to shoot a gun when I was 13…" Mason stated before he shook his head. "Why? You have that fancy sword, I told you that? You tell me that." Mason said as Weiss hummed.
"I was trained from when I was 14 by Klein." Weiss stated, laying a hand on Mason's face. "How did you get this scar? You look no younger then me… I thought that the Warlock with you said you were 17." Weiss said as Mason chuckled.
"Well, I joked. I'm 19." Mason said as he straighted up. "And it was from a shock blade. I tried to take on a captain with my knife. Big guy cut me across the cheek. I would have bit the bullet if not for my old man." Mason put in before he shook his head.
Weiss was curious, questioning what had created this type of warrior. Winter and Klein used to tell her about the type of warriors in this world. However? She was quite curious as to what had created such a type of warrior like this.
"You were pretty brave to fight the fallen, but it was a very reckless move." Mason stated before he chuckled to himself. "Then again? I guess I can't really complain. I still think it's pretty cool for you to be this badass super princess. Makes me think a hell of a lot better about Solitas." Mason put in before he shook his head.
Weiss rolled her eyes before Nomad popped out of Mason who was quite amused by the situation.
"I hate to ruin this happy moment between friends." Mason and Weiss heard, turning their attention to Nomad. "But I see that the emperor and his personal guard are coming. You might want to talk later." Nomad added to which Mason nodded.
"Thank you for reminding me of that." Mason stated before he rubbed at his temples. "I think it'd be better if you pretend you just woke up soon. I don't want them thinking I brought you up here and uh…." Mason said before gesturing to her pajamas.
Weiss blinked before a light pink tint fell oer her cheeks. She knew Mason had a point, her father would MURDER Mason if he suspected any mature content had occurred between them.
"Good idea." Weiss added as Mason straighted up. "And Mason?" Weiss questioned as he started to look around, placing his helmet atop his skull.
"Yeah?" Mason questioned as his helmet booted up.
"Thank you. I've not had many supporters… Or someone who trusted me." Weiss stated as she smiled. "I hope we can talk later." Weiss put in before Mason hummed to himself.
"We'll see." Mason said before turning around. "Get some rest, Weiss." Mason added before he turned to walk towards the door.
Mason made it to the door seconds later, pulling it open before he started to turn to close it. He heard footsteps and turned to see Emperor Ironwood and several Atlesian soldiers. They marched in his direction, turning a corner for a second.
"Hunter." Ironwood said before Mason nodded. "Is she still ok?" Ironwood questioned before Mason hummed.
"She woke up a few minutes ago, your majesty." Mason stated before turning to the door. "Asked me not to be in there. She wanted to keep ready for bed. I've just been guarding the door for a minute or so, checked on her once." Mason stated as he sighed.
"I'm surprised your skilled at killing the enemy so efficiently." Mason heard as he shrugged. "There's plenty you could benefit from if you stayed here. If it was easier when it comes down to it?" Mason also heard as he chuckled to himself.
"No offense? But hunters thrive out there. Not indoors." Mason stated while he brushed off his cloak and hummed to himself. "There's not a lot hunters can do when their busy hunting. All those fallen I killed? That takes skill and dedication that you have to earn. It isn't something to train for." Mason stated as he shook his head.
There was a gleam in the warrior's eye as he turned to look around, curious as to what happens next. Mason was no idiot; it didn't serve a hunter when it came down to it. There was plenty of war to be done, but hunters weren't soldiers, they were assassins, prideful warriors who thrived by scavenging the battlefield. If it was so easy to live with others? He'd do it.
"You seem to care a lot about my daughter." Ironwood said, a twinge of anger in his voice. "Why?" Ironwood questioned to which Mason hummed to himself.
"Besides the fact she's the princess?" Mason asked, his voice betraying the interest in his tone. "She's got a curious heart. One which I think is buried under a lot of tradition and pain. Why do you ask? She's got something that my ghost is interested in. You want the truth? I think she's a warrior beyond anything, or might be one. It's just my opinion when it comes down to it." Mason put in before he hung his head.
Ironwood was quite curious as to what he was doing. However? There was a lot on his mind when he thought about it. He'd talk about it more when it came down to it. Ironwood decided to deal with this issue later.
Mason moved to let the emperor through. He knew that Weiss's warrior fantasy would have to go through the wringer before he did something. He'd talk to her when this was done and over with.
'Please tell me you didn't mess with the camera footage.' Mason thought as he turned to the creature.
'No, that'd make them know what Weiss did.' Mason heard from Nomad when it came down to it.
Still? He was quite curious as it happened next when it came down to it. Weiss was a warrior when both thought about it. This would still have to wait when she thought about it. Mason turned to Nomad while he brushed off his cloak and he hummed.
"I need you to wait downstairs." Mason heard from Ironwood as he nodded to himself. "I need to speak to Weiss; this was family business." Ironwood added to which Mason nodded and started to walk away.
Mason cleared his throat as he shook his head. He was quite concerned for his friend, but there was nothing that he could do at the moment.
"Call me if you need me, your majesty." Mason stated while he turned the corner and started to tap his fingers. "Nomad? We need to have a talk to her." Mason put in as he shook his own head.
Mason yawned, the exhaustion which rushed over his body. He knew that something was coming.
"Do you have to do something that might give away the info?" Mason questioned as he leaned on the wall. "It could do something crazy. I don't want him to yell at us. We are guests when it came down to it." Mason stated before he leaned on the wall.
"And what do you think should end up doing?" Mason stated to himself as Nomad was quite amused. "There's a lot to digest. If you want to point something out? How about you point out all these questions you could have done?" Nomad questioned to which Mason nodded.
The duo was silent, unsure of what came down to it. Mason was hopeful that Ironwood would just talk to Weiss. Once that was done and over with? They could focus on what came down to it. Mason hoped that they could deal with this before something happened next.
"Do you want me to point out what I know?" Nomad asked which was greeted by a nod at the moment.
"Yes, I wouldn't mind it." Mason stated before he rubbed at his temples. "What did you have in mind at the moment?" Mason questioned to him.
"Besides speaking to the princess when her father isn't trying to bite your head off?" Nomad questioned to which Mason nodded and leaned on the wall. "I was inside their communications net for the House of Devils. It's not a lot of data, but I got something before their technicians kicked me out of their network." Nomad stated before he shook his head.
"You nabbed something from the House of Devils?" Mason questioned, gaining a nod in response. "Well show me what you got; it should be quite the scoop." Mason added before he shook his head.
"I think it would be better if we talk about this when she is up and the others can hear." Mason heard as he sighed. "Don't think about it too much. It won't be interesting for a while, something that I'm sure it will be interesting." Nomad added before he hummed to himself as Mason drummed his fingers on his armored grieves.
If he did wait? It could lead to a possible alliance between Solitas and Vacuo, one which could last a long time. There was promise there, which gave reason for him to do so.
But doing so at the moment? Meant he'd not be able to do something about the House of Devils. Mason was not stupid enough to take the House of Devils lightly. They had screwed up enough to the point where someone thought of them as a criminal empire, Mason knew they wouldn't take losing lightly, they never did.
If it was so easy? He'd have done something about it, but he supposed it couldn't really be helped when it came down to it. There was too much work to be done when this was done and over with. If it was possibly something that could be handled single handily? He'd have done so.
"Do you think we should speak to the council when it comes down to it?" Mason stated before he shook his head. "They need to know what happened here, Fallen usually are a Vacuo issue, not a Solitas issue." Mason added before he hummed to himself for a few moments later.
He had a duty to attend to, his orders were clear, but his duty? Not so much. He planned on dealing with those enemies sooner or later.
"Do you think we're be ok to do so at the moment?" Mason heard from Nomad before he cracked his fingers. "Solitas isn't the safest area, but if you think it's a good move? I say go for it, we can always talk about it with the council later, doing it now might cause… Issues." Nomad added as Mason sighed.
