Summery/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of A Frostbitten Arrow. Enjoy the 2000-word chapter. I don't own RWBY or Destiny, Monty Oum, Rooster Teeth, and Bungie do.

(Solitas, Atlas, Schnee Castle 3:30 PM December 12th.)

Mason watched as the first Hawk started to pass overhead. The craft seemed haggard by dirt and time. It might have been on many a trip. No. The simple glance at the engines told him it had been this way for a period he wasn't entirely familiar with. Maybe months, years, it didn't seem to matter the more he stared at it. It had been odd as well.

It was a part of Atlas now as it seemed to gently crest around the castle and towards where the original landing pads had been. There was a lot more action today as it seemed more was to show here. He had a lot more to do when it came down to it. He had a lot more to do next.

He tapped on the banister and seemed to be far more bored as it came to it. This place was a lot… Odder than it seemed. Yes, that was a nice word that honestly described when it came down to it.

He stared behind him at Weiss who had entered the room only a moment ago. It was a lot odder when it came down to it. She had a lot more on her mind than it seemed she had before.

Honestly? He didn't hate her if that was what she expected. She was a lot of things; a fool wasn't one of them if he considered it. She was simply in over her head

"This won't end anytime soon, will it?" Weiss questioned to which the Hunter only seemed to shake his head at her. "My father is probably going to greet the diplomatic party himself at this rate," Weiss said which forced a nod from the soldier in question.

"Then I'll be heading down to see where they end up being," Mason said while he cracked his fingers. "There's a few more transports set to come if what I heard was right. I'm not sure how many numbers there are and I'm not certain if they're on time." Mason said before he leaped down and slowly started to pace forward with a glance over his shoulder.

Weiss was silent as she watched Mason slowly march down and out of the door. She stared into the stars where one of the ships seemed to be coming from. She had always been interested in how they operated at the time and this was a good way to see what had been done to her home in the time she had waited.

It had been a hard enough task to deal with this and a harder task still to shift through this annoyance. Weiss watched to see with her friend at such a crossroads. She'd honestly appear to scream if she wasn't going to win.

"This is going to be easy, no?" Weiss questioned to which she crossed her arms across her chest.

"Maybe, we don't know what to do next if we're honest. This isn't the way we wanted things to be. Not at all the way we wanted things to go and yet I don't think we can complain now." Mason said while he looked at the princess.

"It's pretty impossible to understand what to say and do next. The sooner they come here? The sooner this will be all said and done. People will talk, I'll be able to head out and see another assignment, and you go back to training for being a warrior princess or something." Mason said before he sighed.

"And what happens if they don't come then? There will be things I need to be present for. Things you will be needed for." Weiss said before she crossed her arms across her chest.

Mason could only ponder what to tell her. She was invested in his company for some insane reason he could not fathom for the life of him. It drove him crazy that she seemed to think this way. Why in the world was he so special to her? Did she dislike this role?

"Hmm. Has to be something wrong if they're sending in a small army of soldiers like this." Mason stated before rolling his eyes at the second. "I'm sure your father is going to need you. My people are going to need me at the second." Mason stated before he slowly started to leap down.

It became a lot more interesting to him how little things seemed to change. The sooner this was said and done? The better. She clicked her tongue before preparing for what came next if at all. This had become honestly a lot harder to deal with as she questioned every way it could fall apart.

There was more on her mind than simple politics and ideals of being a huntress, though. She had spent more time around here than it seemed possible. It had become harder for her to dwell on politics when she had one of the few soldiers in the world who could tell her firsthand about things outside of their control. This had become a lot harder for her to fathom at the end of the day.

"I'll do that, how good at things are you going to be at talking at the moment?" Weiss questioned what to do no as they glanced at it. There was a lot more at the second.

It had been curious at the second. There was a lot more on the second, this was going to be interesting for them, for the rest of the kingdom, for everyone around here. It had been an odd time for them to deal with a trade deal, but it wasn't as if they had more choices nor any reason to postpone it. They did also need the deal if there was going to be something resembling peace in this place.

"What happens when you get this deal done?" Weiss questioned before he raised an eyebrow at him. "We know something insane is coming and my father will probably not want anyone to be bothering us by leaving," Weiss stated to which Mason shrugged

"Then I'll stay here and wait for something to happen. It isn't exactly like I have plans when it comes to it." Mason said before he shrugged as he looked around. "Secondly? I don't know what they're going to say or so at the moment. It was going to be a lot odder at the second. The Fallen usually circle to try and kill people by now. They're not the type to wait in the shadows and come back to finish the job." Mason stated as he rolled his eyes.

"Are all Vacuo natives usually like this?" Weiss questioned to which Mason shrugged to himself. "There are a lot of people I've met, the last group I had found wasn't from Vacuo. They were all from Mistral." Weiss added to which she garnered a nod.

He couldn't lie to her as of the second. This was going to be odd; he was going to be on the top of his game as of the second. She couldn't beat him. He wouldn't be allowed to let it stand if she could. That meant a few things, a few that could quickly turn into many. It had to be now, he had to hit them when they weren't expecting it. Anything less and they'd not take him seriously, anything more and he'd be far too unnerved, anything less and he'd need to back down sooner or later.

Still? He turned to look at Weiss. Weiss had been a lot of things, but she wasn't his enemy, nor was she anything more than helpful. He had been the one trying to make things less than impossible. This had been a hard pill to swallow for a warrior like him, a harder pill yet to deal with the problems at hand, but he'd handle them all the same, all he needed was some time and effort.

"If you're so gung-ho on being the leader of this place and a Huntress? I'd try and ask my mentor. He's the one with all of the skill when it comes down to it."

"There's only so much I can teach you when it comes down to all of this when I think about it," Mason stated as Mason shrugged. "Sides, how much do you know about things like shooting guns or something like that? Because I usually shoot people. Stabbing them usually is quieter… Battles aren't exactly quiet." Mason added before he rubbed at his eyes.

He wasn't lying, she was a sword fighter and he wasn't. The level of training he could provide her with was little at the time. Mason didn't consider himself a slouch with a blade, he did kill many Fallen with his knife, but there was still something that had bothered him about her wanting HIM to do the training when it came down to it. There was only so much he could say and do as of the second.

He was honestly curious at the time. She was not what he had expected as the leader of an entire kingdom. It'd be a lot more annoying if he wasn't screaming inside at the possibilities that had been on this path. The sooner he decided on this path? The sooner he'd deal with them all.

Still? He couldn't blame Weiss for being curious about him. The stories of guardians around Remnant were interesting, he had heard many of them, and while dozens seemed to romanticize the deeds of the light users? Not all of them were honestly as bad as they appeared to be, especially because many of them were heroes who protected the entire planet and beyond. The idea of them not being as good as they were implied to be was not surprising to him when it came down to it.

Still? He had more problems when it came down to it. He rubbed at his helmeted head before he sighed to himself. There was going to be more work sooner or later on his chest.

"Hmm," Weiss said while she crossed her arms over her chest. "There's a lot more missions when it comes down to it. We both know what is going to happen as of the second." Weiss stated before she hummed.

She watched her friend who seemed to be far more interested in whatever was in front of her. There was something as of the second. It'd be a lot harder on the princess as of the time being. She knew Mason would be busy protecting the people who were to be here while it came down to it.

Mason glanced at her once more before he tapped on his holster. The weapon seemed to be the answer to most of his plans that hadn't yet been handled before it came down to it.

"Will you come back to talk?" Mason heard from Weiss as he nodded and tapped on his helm. "Good. Then I'll let you handle this problem when it came down to it. I'd be surprised if this wasn't a long day." Weiss stated before she hummed to herself.

"Today is going to be a much longer day than anything." Mason said before he looked into the sky. "I'll talk to you for a few more minutes. I'll come back down." Weiss stated before she hummed.

Today was going to be a long day.

Author notes

Phew. Another chapter is done. I want to point out that the next chapter will be delayed in time. The next chapter will be in 2-10 months and will show both Weiss and Mason at the meeting. I'm sorry I had to do this chapter little by little. The next chapter is 900-6500 words as of the time. Until then, Lighting Wolf out.
