Chapter 3 – NZT and the first day

Uss Enterprise-D, Guest Quarters

"This will be your quarters, as long as you are on board." Data goes to one end. "In this room over here, you find a bathroom including the toilet." Then he goes to the other side. "In here you find your Bedroom." At last, he goes to something to look at first sight like a modern microwave oven. "And this is your replicator." "Okay, and how does it work?" "In very simple terms, it creates things, by converting energy into matter."

"Okay, let me rephrase that. How do I use it." Data blinks shortly. "Oh, you have to tell the computer just what you want, it will do the rest." "Simple, I like it." "If there is nothing else then I will now leave you alone. If you need anything then you can contact me or Counselor Troi over the intern com."

"Commander, before you go there is something I want to ask." Data nod and I step closer and examine him. "You are a machine, right?" Data never shy of his nature. "That is correct, I am an android." I nod, "Are there others like you?" "As far I know, I'm the only one." I stopped and looked irritated at him. "Strange and disappointing, how about other forms of AI or advanced Robots?" "As far as I know, there are no other forms of AIs in the federation and the use of advanced Robots in the Alpha Quadrant is extremely rare."

"That is indeed extremely irritating and very unlikely." I turned away from him. "Even in my time was the use of Robots very common and the development of a sentient AI was only a question of time." Commander Data didn't know what to say, so he just stood there and blinked.

"Thank you, Commander, for satisfying my curiosity." He just nodded once more and then left the room. 'Hm, not even a, have a nice evening, his social skills are practically non existing.'

I was alone, for the first time since my death. For the first time, I had a moment to pause and take a deep breath. I went to the windows and looked out at the moving stars. 'It's real, no dream, no hallucination. I'm in an Isekai, an ROB. I wonder if someone is writing my story as fan fiction.'

I stood before the windows for a moment and wondered over everything and nothing. But then with a Headshake, 'Ah, never mind.' I turned away from the windows and went to the replicator. 'It doesn't matter if someone is writing over my life. I know, I am here now and I have a lot of things to do and not endless time.' "Computer, I would like to have a glass of water please, cold." And just like with Captain Picard the replicator created a glass, just this time filled with cold water. And in a bright light, right next to the glass, appeared an almost transparent pill.

"Thank you Q, by the way, where is the promised pad, which should connect me to the trading system, among other things?" Suddenly Qs voice was heard. "I was already wondering when you would ask for it, or if you actually forgot it. Wouldn't be the first time." And with another white flash behind me, the Pad appeared on the small table, near the couch in my Quarter's main room.

"Hmph, really?" I asked with a little snort. "Well, as long as I get everything that was promised me, what do I care if someone else didn't ask for the rewards that were promised him/her."

I took the glass of water and the NZT pill went to the couch and sat down on it. "Well, here goes nothing.", and with that, I swallowed the pill with the water down. 'Okay, if I remember correctly it takes a second.' For almost a minute I just sat there and just like in the TV-Show, at the moment when I began to doubt the effect, it began.

Everything began to shine almost golden. Because of my augmented senses, the world was before already like I was seeing everything in UHD. But now, I couldn't just see everything in it, I could perceive it. I was aware of the world around me, my mind was now ready and able to take in all the information. Everything that I saw, heard, felt on my skin, smelled, even the taste of the water in my mouth. It was an incredible experience, no wonder why the first experience of NZT was always shown as so overwhelming, even with normal senses it would be incredible. "I was blind, but now I can see."

Bridge of the USS-Enterprise

Commander Data got back to the bridge, his shift as commanding officer still ongoing, he register that lieutenant Worf wasn't on his station anymore, his shift was obviously already over. (1)

Data sat in the commanding Chair. "Status?" A young ensign on the conn answers him. "No new currencies, we are still on a rendezvous course with the Tsiolkovsky, Warp 8 Sir." "Good."

Data sat for a while in silence, but on his head movements was to see that he still thought over something. Suddenly did stand up and went over to one of the empty science stations and activated it. "Computer, inquiry, Robots and their use in societies?"

"Robots, umbrella term for non-humanoid machines that can do autonomous work. Often used in the history, of many societies for heavy or dangerous work. Robots were used in almost all parts of society but were particularly useful in industry, mining, construction and farming. With the invention of the replicator began the use of robots to become less common." In Reaction to the explanation, Data blinks one time.

"Computer, what benefits bring the use of Robots over living workers, except the extra safety?" "Robots are useful to do repetitive and precise work. They are also much more efficient than humans." "Computer, if the federation would automate the mining of dilithium with heavy use of Robots, how much more effective would a mine become?" "Approximately at a factor of 7."

Data holds still for a moment. "And, why isn't it done like that?" "Unknown." Data narrows his eyes. "When did the federation last use robots heavily in mining operations?" "Mid-23rd Century." "Why did they stop using it?" "With the spread of replicators began the use of robots to become less common." "Were the new mining methods more efficient than the old ones?" "Negative." "Why did they change then?" "Unknown."

Data stopped for a sec but then deactivated the station, went back to the command chaír and took his place once again. "Like he said, extremely irritating and very unlikely." Data saved his findings in his memory core and would investigate more in his free time. Maybe he will also mention it at one of the officer's meetings, at least once he found out more. Right now he has nothing more than a hunch, that there is more to this.

Without even realizing it, Data just took many steps closer to being human, including talking to himself and having a hunch.

In the last few minutes, I just enjoyed the experience of being on NZT. But then I took a few deep breaths and shooked my head a little. Next, I looked around once again. 'Okay, no appearance of another me. So I'm guessing this is the movie version of NZT.' (2)

'Alright then, the clock is ticking. Let's first investigate what Q has given me.' I put down the empty glass on the table and took the pad in my hand. The moment when one of my fingers touched the screen it lit up.

'Oh useful, means I can keep the rewards safe and secure inside a pad that always comes back to me and no one else can use, at least until I use them for the first time.' I tap at the X in the upper right corner to close the welcome message and realize very fast that the Pad operating System and the user interface are more like an iPhone than the Star Trek Version, luckily. Let the Butterfly flap (Ongoing Quest): Your very existence creates changes in the Star Trek Universe, luckily for you, this is a new timeline and the future isn't written yet. So no fear of the time patrol. Use your foreknowledge to create a future to your liking.

Ongoing Quest Objective: Create changes in the known timeline. Rewards are given for each change individually. Changes are divided into major and minor Ones. Attention, the change has to be significant enough to be rewarded.

Mayor Change: You very existence.

Change Reward: A new chance in Life.

Minor Change: Through one of your comments Captain Picard realize that it is very likely that there is more than just one Q, earlier than usual. He will deeply analyze his encounters with Q again.

Change Reward: A bottle of the home vintage of the Picard family vineyards.

Minor Change: Your Comment about the similarities of the TNG Uniforms and Pyjamas made sure that Picard made an order of new or alternative Uniforms. This was an impetus for other commanding officers to do the same or express directly their displeasure about the modern Uniforms.

Change Reward: Two bolts of Andorian Silk

Minor Change: Your question about alternative AIs and other forms of robots has aroused interest in commander Data in that topic, he will investigate further.

Change Reward: Replica of Stargate Replicator, original size. It can simulate all their behavior.

Ongoing Quest Objective: Natural Evolution is for idiots, take it into your own Hands. Change your Body by all means you are willing to take.

Body Change: Take the NZT.

Reward: A Copy of all of Friedrich Nietzsche's works. ]

Main Quest: Impress your Recruiter (Q): You are dead. Why is not important? What is important is that you get another chance. A Group of virtually Omnipotent Beings have decided to recruit some People, to do their bidding. You are part of those chosen ones.

Quest Objective: Do what only a few did, accept without whining and impress your Recruiter.

Quest Reward 1: Get early access to the system, Q version.

Quest Reward 2: Get Access to the Auctionhouse.

Quest Reward 3: Become a Kahn Era Augment, without the mental instability.

Quest Reward 4: Get mental protection against psychic abilities.

Quest Reward 5: Get a Pill NZT-48, the perfected version.

Quest Reward 6: Get the M-9 Tempest from Mass Effect Andromeda. The Ship will await you at earth.]

I look up and grin. 'Heh, so much for the idea of buying a magic wand and being like Harry Potter.' then I turn my attention back to the pad and began to look through the options of the Market App. 'The App is designed almost like amazon with different areas. I can even put in specifications, including the exclusion of unusable Items. Let's see what is left.'

The App needs a moment to refresh, then I look a little through it. 'Okay, most stuff in here seems to be things you can buy on the open market in the different realities. From Food to clothing, over tools and weapons, but all mostly mass products. But the trash of one is the treasure of another and I would say a phaser would probably be quite useful for someone in Lord of the rings(3).'

'But no matter what, I need currency, Credits. Right now I have non, but I could get more by Selling Stuff or finishing certain Quests. But I don't have much to sell. I mean I could replicate something, but it would be quite noticeable if the stuff that I replicate just disappear. For now, I put the Copys of Nietzsche's Works in.

Interesting, not only can I sell rewards directly, but it also shows me the price it would bring and a User named the Shopkeeper is even willing to auto-buy all stuff right away for the minimum price if I don't want to manage it on my own. And sold, 50 Credits not bad for the start. But for now, I stop and look at the Auction App' And with a few clicks, the Auction App opens.

'Oh convenient, tapping Y(es).' The App refreshes itself.'Heh, the market is like amazon and the auction is like eBay. Well, form follows function. Let's see.' once again I take a little time to browse. 'Hm, the auction is filled with unique stuff. Some are quite useful or powerful, and some more for collectors. There is normally a bidding war over everything. But most stuff is way outside of my price range. Still, I could put in the rest of my rewards."

I stop for a moment. 'The silk I could very well sell in this Reality. The Wine Bottle, on the other hand, is definitely a collectible, that I will sell. The fake Replicator, I will keep for now, if it is harmless I could try to replicate the Replicator and sell it as a toy or I managed to reprogram it and have suddenly my SG replicators and my control.' and with a few hand movements it was done. '500 Credits starting bid! It was even the minimum I could start it at and 30 days Bidding time.'

And with that, I closed the app. Once I was at the main screen again I saw that the Quest App had an update. So I went in.

I accept the reward right away and since no new Quest starts, close the app. Followed by shutting off the pad. 'Alright then, now I know what I have. Next step studying, I have to relearn everything that the people in this universe learn in their school, this gonna suck.'

Quarter of Counselor Deanna Troi

Deanna had already finished her usual shower before going to bed but was still reading a few reports. Just to make her sleepy and to help her forget something... someone. 'Urgh, come on Deanna he isn't that good-looking, tall, or charming. Even though I can certainly see the temptation to be together with someone who I can't scan. But that doesn't mean you should think all the time about him. You are standing over such primitive instincts.'

Deanna laid the pad down and leaned back a little. The traditional Betazoid nightwear, something similar to a home kimono, opened itself. 'But why did he have to be so charming, damn him and his emerald blue eyes, his charming smile and his big hands.' Deanna left hand began to find their way to her breast. 'Hmm, his big strong hands, full black hair, his muscular body. It must feel incredible save to be in his arms."

Her other hand begins to find its way to her nether regions. 'The way his eyes were wandering over my body, he wanted me and made no secret out of it. All other human men are always so rigid, but not him. He wanted to conquer me and I was willing to surrender myself to him.' Deanna's right hand now worked her clitoris faster and faster.

She held back a moan. 'Mmhg, augments were supposed to be superhuman, better than everyone else, I wonder if he is even better equipped. Longer, stronger, more muscles, they even have better endurance, they are practical sex machines!'

"Oh my God!" and with that Deanna reached her climax. She is laying on the couch for a while, breathing heavily but calming down with every second passing. After a while, 'Hahh, that was needed. I better go to bed.'

Deanna stood up from the couch and went to bed, without clothes as is custom on Betazed. But right before she fell to sleep, 'If I remember history correctly, then all augments had harems. I wonder if that was because of their arrogance or because otherwise they wouldn't be able to completely satisfy themself.' and suddenly she got hot again. 'Damn it, that will be a long night.'

1: In contrast to what was seen in the TNG, the transition between shifts goes fluently, also seen in later shows like DS9 and VOY.

2: I had watched the movie Limitless and the TV-Show Limitless many times and at one point I realized that the NZT of the Movie is a different Drug than the NZT of the TV-Show. I mean, yeah the effects are almost the same just like the side effects. But some are quite different.

First, as mentioned in the story, TV-NZT creates reflections of yourself. Second, M-NZT makes you extremely focused, but TV-NZT makes you easily distracted. Third and most important as long as you take M-NZT no side effects will appear but with TV-NZT the side effects will come and the longer you take NZT the stronger they get, till death.

I think there is a good reason for the difference, Edward Morra. To reach his goal he needed the NZT as a tool, therefore he took control of the production. But it wasn't enough, at the end of the movie his brain chemistry had changed, even without the NZT he had many of the abilities.

But if someone else would become changed like him they wouldn't need him anymore and even worse they would become a possible threat. So he changed the drug and hunted every long-term user of the old Version, just to be sure.
