Chloe's POV

Derek glared at Simon, "Happy? You got your delay, we'll have to find somewhere to stay tonight and go tomorrow."

Simon's grip on the armrest tightened. He about had it with Derek's attitude. We were all scrubbed clean and clothes changed. Simon sat in the passenger seat, Derek and I were in the back. He was still trying to doctor me to figure out why I was bleeding so bad. We all knew it was because another change was coming, and coming fast.

Simon turned around, openly angry, "What in the world is your problem today? You've been down our throats since you woke up this was all your idea though remember, you're the one who wanted to go after the alpha. You're the one who made all those decisions. Stop taking it out on us because you won't admit you're scared."

I was shocked at Simon's snap at Derek, he wasn't the type. Derek didn't say a word at first, he just glared at Simon.

"Scared?" Derek said finally. "Really? Scared. You think I'm scared to meet him?" He let out a low laugh, "I am not scared. I am furious. I am going to kill him as soon as he fixes Chloe."

"You're not going to kill anyone."

"Because you can stop me?" Derek smiled.

"Because you know Chloe would never look at you the same way again," Simon corrected him.

I didn't like Simon using me in his argument and telling me how I would feel. But I knew it was better to stay quiet right now. I don't think I'd ever seen the two of them fight like this before.

I could see the "I don't give a damn about what Chloe thinks" forming on Derek's lips but he stopped himself. Instead, he swore at Simon and told him to drive. He needed to stay in the back with me, keeping an eye on me. The doors rattled when Simon got in and out, he really was done with Derek's attitude.

The car started and we were moving again. Simon turned on the radio so he wouldn't have to talk. Derek went to put an arm around me and I moved away from him. He looked at me hurt but I didn't move back. Derek was scaring me, talking about killing people. Whether this guy deserved it or not, I didn't want to see anyone die.

"You need to work through this anger before you make yourself change," I said. Keeping a calm voice, I wasn't commanding him.

"No, I'm going to take it all out on him," Derek growled.

I squeezed his hand, "Derek? You won't make it all the way to him if you let yourself get eaten up like this."

His hand twitched.

"I love you," I said. "Don't lose who you are."

He smiled at me, "I won't, I'm just taking care of business."

I tugged on his hand so Derek would sit lower, I was trying to get us out of Simon's view in the mirror. Derek slid down some, propping his knees against the seat in front of him. I readjusted myself next to him and leaned in and kissed him. I don't know how my mind thought this was going to help him get rid of his rage, but I really wanted to kiss him. Derek was caught off guard by it too but kissed me back.

I wanted to keep kissing Derek but Simon said something.

"What?" I asked.

Simon turned down the radio, "I said we crossed state lines, we're in Michigan now. We should find somewhere to stay."

Simon was right, even though it was just nearing dinner time, we needed to stop driving. The Alpha might know we were coming if we holed up somewhere closer.
