The shady road got narrow as we winded down it. I took a deep breath, nervous. Simon gave me a smile but he was nervous too. When the road finally reached a clearing, we slowed to a stop. Up ahead was a huge house, almost mansion like.

"You're sure about this?" I asked.

Simon nodded. We got out and walked up to the front door. I raised a shaky hand to knock. A man opened he door, dressed in all black.

"Saunders?" His voice was very deep.

I nodded.

He opened the door further and stepped aside.

"We've been expecting you." He looked up at Simon and smelled the air. "You're not Souza."

"I'm his brother," Simon said.

"Don't cause any trouble," he warned.

We stepped inside. The entryway was so elegant, the ceiling was high and the walls were a bright white, the floor was lined with a red and black rug. A tall vase stood to either side of us.

"Follow me," he lead us down a hallway to a dining room.

The wall was lined with tall windows that overlooked a well groomed yard. A dark wood table sat in the middle of the room with a man sitting at the head, a woman sitting to his left.

"Alpha," I said.

He stood, "Please, the names Nate."

He gestured for us to sit to his right.

"Can I get either of you something to eat?"

We sat down and shook our heads.

"I must say I expected my front door to be broken down," Nate said sitting back down. "I bet that was my son's first idea." He looked over Simon. "You're not a werewolf."

"You must be the brother," the woman said.

"Oh, my apologies, this is my mate Sylvia."

"Derek's mom?" I gaped.

Nate chuckled, "Oh my no. She died many years ago. Tragic really, werewolf hunters went after her while I was out of the country."

I shook my head bewildered for the hundredth time today.

"I really wasn't expecting a civilized discussion from you."

Nate nodded, "I can understand that, given our previous encounters. But if you remember correctly; we've mainly met at the full moon time of the month."

"Why does the moon matter?" I asked, not that I knew that we had met during it.

"Moons affect alphas with a lot of power. Werewolves get their power from the forces of nature and emotion. The higher the werewolf, the more they are influences by nature. I was…out of my mind during that time. The pack was under a lot of stress and I snapped."

"Hasn't anyone taught you about our kind?" Sylvia asked.

I shook my head, "I didn't come here for a lesson. I came to get fixed."

"Fixed for what?" Nate asked. "I don't remember much of what happened to be honest."

I couldn't believe this, here we'd been mentally preparing for days for an epic showdown, and the man openly admits he'd gone off his rocker, but we were sitting here having a civil conversation.

"Our second encounter, you forced me to start changing and whispered something I don't remember. Now I can't make it through and my necromancy powers go out of control."

"Oh that's dreadful," Sylvia gasped. "Nate how could you?"

Nate was as appalled as Sylvia, "I am so sorry. That is definitely something to be fixed right away."

"I'm sorry," Simon shook his head. "I just can't wrap my head around how you and the man who nearly killed Derek and Chloe are the same guy."

"I was in over my head with power," Nate shrugged. "I don't know what else you want me to say. I snapped."

"You never thought to explain to them or try to patch things up or anything?"

"I thought it was best I kept my distance since I didn't know what I'd done. Derek obviously doesn't want me in the picture."

"But you can fix me?" I asked.

Nate nodded, he took my hand and looked into my eyes.

"Join yourself back with your wolf so you can successfully complete your change."

I felt a warmth in my chest, opened my mouth to say something. Then I felt like I'd been hit by a runaway train. Every bone in my body ached and my head felt like it was going to explode.

"Chloe?" Simon said worriedly.

"Pains to be expected. Give it time, she'll be sore but fine."

Simon stood from his chair and picked me up.

"We're leaving."

"You are all welcome back anytime," Nate nodded. "Except maybe during full moons. I hope Derek doesn't get hurt in any crossfire in the future."

Simon carried me out of the house and too the car.

"I can walk," I grumbled at him.

Simon set me down to get in the car by myself. I sat down and buckled up.

"That was anticlimactic," I said. "Almost too much so."

Simon frowned too, "I'm not sure if I buy his 'alpha madness' story. But you're fixed so let's get out of here before something else happens."

Simon turned the car and and floored it back out to the roads.
