I woke up cold. Why was I cold? I opened my eyes a slit, i was against a metal table, thats why. And I was in a hospital gown. I opened my eyes more. It wasn't a table, it was a bed. The thin mattress was on the floor beside me, I must have knocked it off in my sleep. How long had I been out? There was no window in the room to be able to tell. There was just me on my metal bed, a toilet in the corner, and a milk crate on the floor with some magazines. The room was small, less than 10 by 10, probably closer to 6 by 7. Like a jail cell.
I sat up, not feeling as groggy as I did when I woke in the car. I groaned, what was going through Simon and Derek's heads? Did they think I ditched them? Did they think I ran away again? Where was I even at? I imagined Liz and Kyle and tried to pull them to me but nothing happened. I swore, something was containing my powers.
There was a soft knock on the heavy metal door and sound of it being unlatched. A woman stepped in that I didn't recognize.
"Hi Ms. Saunders," she beamed.
"So you're the good cop," I replied.
The woman was caught off guard by my comment and ignored it.
"My name is Mrs. Bunch, just call me Ariah. I don't care much for being formal."
"You addressed me formally," I pointed out.
"It's polite to do when two people first meet."
"Where am I?" I didn't want to go through this waste of time conversation anymore.
"Your Aunt brought you here to get cured."
"Where is here?"
She giggled, "Well if I told you, it wouldn't be a secret facility then, would it? We don't want you destroying another one of our buildings."
"Edison Group!" My jaw dropped. "My aunt brought me back to the Edison Group after what they did to us?"
"She's doing what's best for you. After the reports we've seen about you and the werewolf, we need to correct our work before more damage is done."
"Correct your work how?" I asked. I was scared but curious in all honesty.
"You'll be our guinea pig for how to get rid of your abilities," she smiled like it was a great honor. "We failed with some subjects to do it pre-birth so you'll help us unlock the secrets to doing it post-birth. We'll work on your necromancer powers but first we, and your aunt, want that pesky werewolf gene out of you. For the scientific advancement and the safety of our staff."
I felt like my jaw was on the floor. I had no idea what to say to this woman. I was pretty much just told I was going to be prisoner until they stripped me of who I was. They wanted to turn me into a human.
There was the sound of a cart being rolled by behind her. It stopped and Ariah turned around. She had a quick hushed conversation with whoever it was, then turned around with a cafeteria tray.
"Here's your lunch," she extended it out to me.
I didn't move to get it from her so she set it on to the of the crate of magazines.
"When you've finished eating, knock on the door. Someone will come get the dishes from you."
She stepped back and shut the door behind her. The clunk of the metal latch was deafening. There was no escaping this time.
