Derek's POV

Chloe walked out of the room a while ago now and still hadn't come back. I was starting to get anxious that something that happened. But this was Tess' house, what bad thing could happen here?

"She's been gone for a while. What could Tess have needed?" Simon asked.

I felt a little better that I wasn't the only one concerned. I set my computer aside and stood up.

"What're you doing bro?" Simon asked.

"I've got a bad feeling about this, I'm going to look for her."

Simon gave me a look like I was overreacting but stood up too. We walked to the living room where Tess was watching the TV.

"What can I do for you boys?" she smiled.

"We were wondering where Chloe was," I said.

Tess shrugged, "Haven't seen her in a while."

I looked around for her aunt, she would know.

"Is everything ok?" Dad asked us.

"We can't find Chloe anywhere," Simon told him.

"Or her aunt," I added.

"So they probably went into town or something," Dad shrugged.

"You know Chloe's not going to go somewhere willingly with her aunt," I replied.

"So you think somethings happened to her? This is Tess' house, what could happen?"

Simon replied before I could, "Have we really been to a safe house yet where something didn't happen? No safe house is totally safe."

Dad rolled his eyes, "You two are overreacting."

I didn't like this, it wasn't like Chloe to just disappear. Something was going on. I left the room and Simon followed. I smelled the air for her scent, it went to the front door, so if she was here she just wasn't inside. I nodded in the doors direction and Simon walked out with me.

"Her scent went out here," I told him as the door was shut.

"Where does it go next?" Simon asked.

I couldn't tell for sure, the wind was pushing it away. I did catch Lauren's scent though and growled. Simon looked at me for an explanation.

"I can't tell where she went with this wind but I'm catching Lauren too."

Simon tried to rationalize, "Could that be because she's been around the house for a while now? I bet you could pick up anyone out here."

I shook my head, "Its stronger so its recent."

"Can you tell where she goes?" Simon asked.

I shook my head, I couldn't tell. It smelled like it went in two directions but it was probably the wind pushing it around. I walked down the steps so the driveway was in my line of sight. I counted the vehicles.

"Lauren's car is gone," I said.

Simon came down and checked my math, "You're right." He looked at me. "What does this mean?"

"Means Lauren probably got what she wanted. She probably snatched Chloe while she was helping Tess out earlier."

We both went pale, could that really be true? What on earth could we do?

Back to Chloe's POV

When I came to, I yawned. This all felt like a dream for a few seconds until I flexed my sore hands. The throbbing pain told me that none of this was a dream. I went to move my hand but couldn't. I opened my eyes to see why and I wasn't in my cell anymore. I was on a table in a brightly lit room that smelled like a super sterilized dentists office. My hands and ankles were being held in place by leather straps and there was an IV in my right arm. They must have put me in a different hospital gown because I was no longer covered in specs of my own blood from body slamming the door.

There was a pshhhh of an automatic door opening and a man walked in covered in surgical gowns, rubber gloves, the whole nine yards. He was followed in by Ariah and another man. Both dressed with the same protective clothing.

"Why am I here?" I growled.

"Didn't Ariah already fill you in?" The man said as he put a surgical mask over his mouth and nose.

Ariah nodded, "I did sir. I think she means why is she in this room."

"Because the fun is about to begin," the man said and lifted a scalpel from a tray of tools.

I screamed.
