Derek's POV

Tess drove as Dad called Chloe's aunt over and over. Simon sat next to Dad in the back to help with some device that tracked the phone call. I sat here in the passengers seat quietly. No one had really spoke to me the whole car right, probably afraid that they would be the recipient of my rage.

After half an hour, we finally got an answer.

"I swear to god Kit. You are murdering my battery. Get the hint, I don't want to talk to you right now."

"Where are you two Lauren? I don't want to have to ask again."

"I know you've been trying your contacts for the location of this place," Lauren said. "You're not going to find Chloe."

Through the mirror, I saw Dad glance up at me before he responded.

"I'm not looking for Chloe," Dad said. "I've been calling you to take you up on your offer to bring my sons in."

I immediately whipped around. Staring him down like I was an inch from killing him. Lie or not, he should have said something to me first about that.

"Oh," Lauren was surprised.

Dad wouldn't make eye contact with me.

"How do I know that this isn't a trick," Lauren said.

"Because I have a proposition that would make you happy," Dad said. "I'll meet you in a neutral location to hash the...relocation...details out."

"I'm proud of you for coming around, Kit. You know that this will be better for them in the long run."

"I know it will."

"Meet me at the Big Boy in Sybag, Nebraska. How long will it take you to get there?"

Kit glanced out at the passing exit sign, "I can be there by tomorrow afternoon probably."

"Ok."

Click. The phone went silent.

Dad turned to Simon to see if he got the location but before a word came out of his mouth, I exploded.

"What the hell was that?! Who the hell are you to give away my life like that?! I don't think you have the damn right to make that decision without talking to the rest of us!"

Tess put her hand on my knee, "Calm down. What's done is done."

"You knew about this!" I accused her.

Tess, staying calm, shook her head, "No, but you can't change that he did that."

"Kit had no right to do that without asking!" I scream. Purposefully not calling him Dad. He would have to earn that title back.

"Calm down Derek. I thought if it in the moment so I couldn't really consult your feelings while I'm trying to keep her on the line," Dad said.

"Calm down?!" I direct my rage back towards him. "Calm down after you just signed my god damn life away without my say in it?!"

"They aren't actually going to get their hands on you," Dad snapped. "We're just trying to get the location."

"WE?! There is no WE! There is only you and whatever you need to do!"

Simon's POV

Dad and Derek continued to rage at each other, I tuned it out as best as I could so I wouldn't be involved. Derek was a ticking time bomb today, Dad should have known better than to be the one to light the fuse. But at the same time, Derek should see that he's doing this for him. Dad's putting all this effort into finding Chloe, for him.

Dad's tracking device traced Lauren to Sybag, Nebraska like she said. So we at least had that lead. But I wasn't going to bring that up right now and get sucked into their screaming match.

Tess pulled us off at a truck stop to fuel up and update the werewolves in the car behind us. Derek and Dad continued screaming at each other while Tess did all the work. I quickly ducked inside the building to find the bathroom.

I stepped inside and looked around, I had walked into an area that wasn't quite big enough to be called a food court, but there were several small tables for people to eat at. I scanned the area for the restroom sign when a familiar face caught my eye. She quickly turned around but I had already seen her. I walked over and sat across from her.

"What are the odds we ran into you," I said.

"What are you doing all the way out here?" She said.

"I won't say I've seen you if you want to be left alone," I said, going to stand up.

She grabbed my wrist, "Wait no."

"You want to come back?" I was surprised.

"I don't like being on my own," she admitted. "Sleeping at truck stops, trying to find a way to get to computers to finish school, having no money, no friends."

I wanted to make a jab at her for admitting that we were her friends but I couldn't when she was like this.

"They're outside, come on," I extended a hand to her.

She rolled her eyes at my gesture and stood up. It wasn't by much but she was thinner if you'd known her beforehand. She obviously hadn't eaten in a while. We walked outside together and up to the cars.

"Tori?" Dad said in shock.
