Chloe's POV

I sat like a crumpled heap in the corner of the room. The other kids pretty much left me alone, though Jeremy came and checked up on me every so often. Aunt Lauren told me that their latest "treatment" would take multiple sessions. I felt so exhausted. I don't know how long its been or even what day or time it is. All I knew was my body was unbelievably tired from these "treatments." No matter how much I slept, it just never got any better. Moving any body part was such a chore.

Jeremy came over for his annual check on me.

"Sleep," he told me.

"Screw off," I tiredly snapped at him.

Jeremy sat beside me and ran a hand through my hair. Playing with it gently. As much as I wanted him to stop touching me and just leave me alone, it put me right to sleep like a child.

As I drifted off I heard him say, "Its not that bad here, you'll learn to be human."

I woke up sometime later to being escorted out of the room and back to the surgical center. The next round of treatment was beginning.

Simon's POV

I brought Tori out to everyone then quickly dipped back inside for the bathroom. When I came back out, it felt like a totally different situation. Derek was still sitting in his seat angry as all hell but quiet. Tess was mothering Tori, telling her she should have come back and she needed food and all that. Dad was talking to the car of werewolves, explaining where we were headed. I walked over to their conversation.

"First you throw my son to the villain and now you're picking up hitchhikers?" Nate said.

"Nothings going to happen to him," Dad rubbed his temples. He must have a headache from having the same conversation (I would call it a screaming match) with Derek. "And Tori isn't a hitchhiker, she ran away from us a while ago."

Nate growled unhappy with Dad's choices and got back in his car. Dad herded all of us into our car and we were off again. Tori sat in between me and Dad, I passed her a granola bar that I swiped from a backpack at the truck stop.

Tori looked like she wanted to be ms. macho and not take it, prove she was capable of taking care of herself on her own. But I could hear her stomach rumble.

"Take it, I grabbed it for you," I set it in her hand.

Tori didn't hesitate anymore, she dove into it.
