Chloe's POV
Aunt Lauren took me out into the courtyard to walk around for a while. I did some laps but I felt exhausted. I had applesauce for breakfast this morning and I swear it was probably laced. Turning human or not I should not be this drained of energy. I tried having a conversation with her but getting worked up just kicked me in the butt even more.
"I just want to go to bed," I told her as we walked back inside.
"You're scheduled to go to the room with the other subjects," Aunt Lauren told her.
"I don't want to," I told her.
She guided me as we walked.
"You're not getting the choice. If you're so tired, you can sleep in there."
She lead me to the room, pushed me in gently and shut and locked the door.
Jeremy leapt to his feet and came over to me. I went to sit in the chair but he caught my hand.
"Come sit with us."
"Bug off," I spat.
"We're really not that bad," Jeremy said.
I was too tired to resist and before I could comprehend, he had lead me over to the couches. Each of them were sitting on their own couch, sprawled out, but Jeremy sat me beside him. I'm not sure if my face conveyed it but I glared at them angrily.
"We're watching Jurassic Park," one of them said as I slumped off to sleep.
A rough hand tangled itself in my hair, why was someone touching me? I was going to brush it off and go back to sleep until I heard "Chloe!" I sat up. All of the others were staring at the door so it wasn't any of them. The door rattled against its hinges and "Chloe!" was screamed again.
"What's going on?" I stuttered out.
Jeremy put a hand on my shoulder, warning me not to get up and engage with the situation.
"Trust me, you don't want to make matters worse," he said.
The sound of things getting slammed echoed into the room. Our door flew open and adults flooded in. Two people per each of us. Grabbing us and yanking us without explanation. A man and a woman got a hold of me and yanked me down the hallway.
"Where are we going?" I asked frantic. "Whats going on?"
The woman said, "Security breach." The man smacked her on the shoulder, telling her to shut up.
Security breach? So that was someone trying to find me? Oh god what was going on?!
Simon's POV
Tori led us to the building that Derek and Dad were at. Probably the werewolves too since we hadn't heard from them or seen them in a while now.
"How on earth are we getting in here?" Tori asked.
I shrugged, I pulled out my phone and dialed my Dad's number.
"Hello," he said.
"Whats the best way in?" I asked.
"What are you talking about?" Dad asked.
I rolled my eyes, knowing there would be consequences but screw that for now.
"We're here, how do we get in?" I asked.
"Leave," Dad said. "We're already in this too deep."
Too deep...? Did he lose Derek?
I hung up and put my phone on silent.
I looked at Tori, "Air vents?"
She cringed at my suggestion, "Gross."
"That's the best we have if we want to be part of this rescue mission."
"Or we use our powers," Tori suggested like it was obvious.
She brushed past me and up to the door, her finger tips turned fiery blue and the door opened at her touch.
In the back of my head, honestly, I felt jealous of her ability to use magic so easily.
"Are you coming? We'll have to move fast," Tori said as she stepped inside.
I followed.
Derek's POV
Curse after curse fell from my lips as I punched the glass, punched the wall, punched everything.
"Stop it," Nate growled.
I growled back at him but had no choice but to obey. Damn Alpha commands.
"Keep your voice down," Nate growled at me. "Do you want to get locked back up?"
"She was right there," I jabbed my finger towards the room. "I was so close."
Ron grabbed my right shoulder, "Hold your tongue, this is going to hurt."
Before I could pull myself from this stranger's grip, he shoved my arm back into place. I bit hard so I wouldn't scream. My arm seared with pain.
"We need to keep moving," Sylvia said.
I followed as we started down the hallway, keeping a fast pace. I had no idea where they were planning on going, or even if they really knew.
"Where are we going?" I asked through gritted teeth.
"The left side of this building has no windows, that must be cells or surgical rooms."
As much as I preferred to take charge of situations, I didn't mind them doing that right now. I couldn't think straight. I had been so close. So. Close.
We rounded corner after corner, trying to make it to the left side of the building. But it seemed oddly empty, we were lucking out too much.
I think I jinxed us because we approached a hallway that had four people in lab testing coats. They were all hunched over some clipboards in a hushed conversation. One looked up and saw us.
"Hey!" He shouted.
Before anyone had any time to react, before I could even think the words 'oh no what do we do?' Nate had pulled out a hand gun and shot all of them. He must of had some sort of silencer thing on it because it wasn't very loud.
"JESUS CHRIST!" I backed away from him.
"Gotta do what you gotta do to protect your blood," Nate muttered and kept moving.
