The gunshot surprised them.
The splash had Gordon diving, leaving his siblings to deal with the captain.
A ribbon of red marked where Scott was. Legs already fins, Gordon caught up with him. As he did a shadow swept past them.
Gordon swallowed.
His nemesis.
He'd not faced orcas since that day, but now he had no choice.
It circled.
Gordon followed.
It faced them.
'You'll have to go through me first,' Gordon snarled, claws out ready.
It charged.
Claws raked it and it turned in surprise. The marks stung painfully.
It turned back but its prey had already gone.
