-Day 1 on the mystery island-
Aoi awoke feeling refreshed. As opposed to sleeping on wood, the leaves she put in her cave were a lot more comfortable.
Standing up Aoi got ready for the day.
Now that she had a goal, Aoi would need to start working towards it.
Until she could make the best sword in the world, Aoi had a lot of work before her. She first had to practice a lot, since she had never made any sword before.
To begin smithing, Aoi would first need the equipment. The first thing she thought she should make was a heater. It was one the most essential tools for smithing. For Aoi to be able to shape it with a hammer, the metal needed to be hot.
The first thing she would make were the bricks. To make them, Aoi got out of her cave into the forest.
A short walk later she arrived at an area that Aoi had found the day before. It stood out to her because the ground had felt a bit wet under her feet even though it hadn't rained.
Chances were that it was clay.
Aoi knelt down and started digging with a stick she picked up a bit earlier. Upon inspecting the dug up material, Aoi confirmed that it was in fact clay.
She took the clay to the lake near her cave. Aoi then sprayed a bit of water on it to make it easier to form. With her material ready Aoi got to work.
Her first tries at forming the clay looked like modern art, but at the end she finally got something resembling bricks.
The next step would be to let them harden in the sun. While Aoi was waiting, she explored the island a bit more. She found another coast by the sun started going down.
Before sleeping Aoi took the now hardened bricks to her cave and stacked them in a corner.
-Day 2 on the mystery island-
Aoi woke up with a yawn. She looked forward to the day.
After she had acquired the bricks for her heater, the next thing she needed to find were the materials to work with.
Metal.
Since Aoi had no experience in smithing whatsoever, she decided to start with an easy to work with metal like copper.
Aoi didn't have any copper though. On her trips to explore the island, she hadn't found any ore veins, which was probably because she didn't dig into a mountain, but without a pickaxe her options were limited.
Luckily, before Aoi had to resort digging a mineshaft with a stick, she still had another idea.
On the coast she found on the walk she had gone on while the bricks hardened, she had seen a mast sticking out of the ocean. It was definitely part of some shipwreck. And on that shipwreck was probably some metal.
So now Aoi was on the coast getting ready to dive underwater. She first stretched and then slowly let herself down into the sea.
The water was pleasantly cool on her skin.
After swimming some distance away from the shore, she dove down for the first time.
It was a bit hard for Aoi to open eyes in the saltwater, but once she managed, her sight was immediately filled with dozens of shipwrecks.
Aoi was naturally surprised at finding so many wrecks, when she had only expected to see one. How could so many people be stupid enough to let their ship sink here.
Not that she was complaining.
The more shipwrecks the better.
With more wrecks she had a higher chance at finding what she came for.
After looking a bit more, Aoi surfaced with a gasp for air.
She calmed down a bit and then swam directly over a ship.
Aoi chose this ship because it was the closest to the surface. She didn't have much experience in diving so she had to start with an easy task.
With a last deep breath Aoi dove underwater. Not wasting any breath, she continued descending until she arrived at the shipwreck.
She immediately went to a still door in the wall located behind where the mast would be and opened it.
The inside of the room looked mostly intact and an air bubble was at the ceiling. It was a real blessing for Aoi who was already approaching her limit on how long she could hold her breath.
After Aoi took another breath, she properly looked around the room she was in.
The floor was riddled with miscellaneous objects.
While the ship was sinking, they probably fell out of the now empty shelves.
With so many things scattered around, the room looked much like the one she had when she was still alive.
Hers looked a lot more orderly though!
A few of the objects Aoi could see were made out of metal. She immediately went to inspect them.
It didn't take her long to find something made out of copper. Aoi was easily able to distinguish the green hue that the metal took on when oxidized from other metals.
She continued to search around until she found a decent amount of objects made out of copper.
When Aoi felt that she had enough, she took each piece she found to the coast one by one. She did not have enough strength to swim with both her arms full of metal.
At least there wasn't any incident while Aoi transported her findings.
She was then able to bring her copper to her cave in one go.
Aoi could tell she wouldn't be able to do much more. Spending most of her day diving and carrying metal took a lot out of her body.
Aoi's current body looked like the one she had in her old life. With straight black hair and dark grey eyes.
Except it had somehow reverted to when she was 10 years old.
Aoi hadn't give it much thought before, since she spent so long without having a body. But after the physical exercise she had done, she noticed how much faster she tired compared to the most recent memories before her death.
It annoyed her a bit that all the time she had spent working out in her past life were now meaningless.
Nothing she could do about it though.
She simply had to start training again. As a blacksmith, Aoi would need considerable strength to hammer metal into shape.
While thinking such, Aoi stretched.
She then laid down in her pile of leaves to rest, ending her day.
