Matt turned me around and grabbed my face so I would look at him.

"Hey, hey, focus. It's not the end of the world. We can fix this."

"Really?"

Matt nodded, "It's not pretty. But its doable. You just can't feed on anyone when the urges arise. After that, we can't fix it."

My heart raced.

"Ok, lets do it."

There was the sound of something outside.

"We can't right now. I need you to stay inside and stay safe."

Matt swiftly put handcuffs on me and cuffed me to the the stairway railing.

Matt looked at Nate as they heard something pass by the window, "Ready werewolf?"

Nate nodded, "Born ready."

The sound of my beating heart drowned out everything around me. I wasn't able to hear anything going on outside. It dawned on me that Matt said the venom was in my blood steam, so the harder my heart pumped, the faster it spread. I needed to calm down.

Things went black for a minute.

I stared at my hands. There was pain radiating from my jaw as something pierced through my mouth.

Things went black again.

I was pulling on the railing as hard as I could to get free. My whole body ached I was so hungry.

Blackness again.

Someone came crashing through the window. Was that me hissing at them? The man barring fangs jumped back out the window.

Blackness.

Why did I keep losing consciousness? How long was I out? Matt and Nate, covered in blood, stood at the opposite end of the room. Watching me.

"Help," I said as I faded again.

"Chloe? Chloe are you in there?"

Simon and Derek came into focus. I looked down, I was chained to a chair in Tess' werewolf shelter.

"What's happening?" I asked.

"We're going go get you help, ok?"

The word ok echoed around me. Drowned out by the sound of beating hearts.

Simon's POV

We stopped at a rest stop and hopped out of the cars. We were only maybe two hours from Tess' house. She didn't want to go far. She and I waited by the cars while everyone else went inside.

"I know I told him we were going to another safe house," Tess said. "But he's legendary. I can't imagine this would take longer than a night."

"So he really is Batman?" I asked.

Tess raised her eyebrows surprised, "How'd you know?"

"Subtle hints dropped here and there," I shrugged.

Derek came racing back over to us.

"She's gone," he panicked.

"Who's gone?" I asked.

"Chloe!"

Tess shook her head, "How? She's been in your car the whole time?"

We both shook our heads.

"No she hasn't," Derek was freaking out. "Oh god she's still at your house. We left her behind with a nest of vampires."

Tess put a hand on Derek's shoulder, "You need to calm down. We don't need you changing right now."

"How can I calm down?" He was shouting. "We left her to die."

Tess quickly gathered everyone up. She put me in charge of driving the car and took Derek in hers in case he did change. It was likely that he would. Not to say that I wasn't freaking out either. I am. But I wasn't going to change species so I was the better bet to drive. We quickly floored it back to Tess' home.

An hour and a half ish later.

Tess made sure everyone stayed in the car, it was eerily quiet. Derek was a wolf and paced circles around the cars. He didn't want to be left behind but Tess didn't give him a choice, he was in no state of mind to make rational decision.

Tess and I busted down the front door. Nate immediately appeared and grabbed us.

"Get outside!" He shoved us.

"Where's Chloe?!" Tess was in tears.

"She's not taking visitors right now," Nate said.

Chloe was alive. Thank god. We tried to get in but Nate blocked us. There was the sound of something nonhuman screaming in the house.

"What was that?" I panicked.

"Kill the damn thing," Tess tried to shove past him again. "No vampires are allowed here."

"You're really going to kill my daughter?" Nate shot back.

We froze wheels clicking. Chloe wasn't really his daughter, more of a daughter in law. But still. He was talking about her...

I got in his face, "What the hell did you do to her?"

"I didn't do anything," Nate shot back. "I'm helping save her."

The back door slammed and Nate stepped aside. Tess and I went rushing in, the house was utterly destroyed. Windows were shattered, furniture torn to pieces. Even the stairway railing laid on the ground torn apart.

"Where is she?" Tess' sobs turned to anger. She grabbed Nate by the front of his shirt.

"Getting help," Nate shoved her off of him. "Matt knows what he's doing."

Nate picked up what looked like a piece of an arm.

"You two need to help me burn the bodies while Matt works his magic."

Burn vampire bodies? Oh god I was going to vomit.

A black wolf came racing into the house, he ran right past us and up the stairs. Came back down and to the kitchen.

"Stop it Derek," Nate commanded.

Derek froze in place, letting out a high pitch whine. He was scared to death right now.

"Go upstairs and change back," Nate commanded.

Derek left and did so, coming back down half an hour later with new clothes on. Everyone was helping pile up all the bodies and broken furniture into a big pile in the backyard. Derek came walking out to us as Nate told everyone that they should go back inside.

"I swear to god if you do that to me again," Derek started at Nate.

"You'll what?" Nate asked.

Derek shook with rage. Nate lit a match and dropped it on splintered pieces of the couch.

"You all might want to go inside, the smell gets nasty," Nate said. "But its the only way to make sure they stay dead."

I grabbed Derek and pulled him away.

Speaking very lowly, I said, "Follow her scent. I'm coming with."
