Chapter 5: Exotic Food Eating

"Last time on Totally Epic, the teams participated in a nighttime scavenger hunt at one of the most haunted prisons in the world, Alcatraz. The Titanium Tigers took victory and the Platinum Eagles sent home Destiny for mixing up directions. Who'll be next to go and which team will win? Find out now on Totally Epic!" Monica announced.

When the contestants woke up the next morning, they began getting ready for the day and the challenge.

"What do you think Monica will have us do this time?" asked Benneth, as he brushed his teeth.

"I don't know, but I will say I'm glad she's nothing like Chris Mclean." said Joshua, combing his hair.

"Yeah, she's much nicer." added Conrad, flossing his teeth.

In the girls' bathroom, they were also talking about the show.

"I hope we're gonna do something cool this challenge." hoped Magdalena, brushing her hair.

"And nothing too dangerous." mentioned Yasmine, putting her shoes on.

"I can hardly wait." Dixie piped up, tying up her shirt.

As each contestant got out of the washrooms, Monica came on the speakers.

"Attention contestants, please report to dining hall."

They went there, and saw Monica and Co-hostess Hailey waiting for them.

"Good morning, everyone. It's time to start today's challenge." Monica told them.

"But we haven't had breakfast yet." Hayley mentioned.

"Oh, you'll be eating." Co-hostess Hailey said.

"Today's challenge will test the strengths of your stomachs. A classic food eating contest."

"Dare I ask what kind of food?" wondered Caleb.

"Exotic food of course."

Everyone looked at each other.

"You'll all be eating nine dishes that may may be odd looking, weird smelling, unusual, and perhaps gross. But you have to eat all of it, no hiding it. Which ever team finishes first gets a point."

"We'll give you a minute to get your game plans together, while we make sure the food is ready." Co-hostess Hailey told them.

As they went into the kitchen, each team sat at their tables.

"I think we can do this." said Zachary.

"I have to say right now, I kinda...have a weak stomach." Caleb confessed.

"Don't worry Caleb, just try and keep it down." Yasmine told him.

"I got no problem eatin'." Madison piped up.

"Do you think we can get another victory?" asked Magdalena.

"It won't be easy." said Jaime.

"But my allergies." Hayley mentioned.

"What'll happen if you eat something you're allergic to?" asked Conrad.

"Uh..."

But before she could answer, Monica and Co-hostess Hailey came back out.

"All right, let the challenge begin." Monica announced.

"If you feel any allergic reactions just let us know, Hayley." Benneth told her.

"Okay." she replied.

"You know I don't really know what happens if I eat something I'm allergic to. But I have to do this for the team." Hayley told the camera.

Some interns then put some plates covered with dish covers over them on the tables.

"Here's your first course." Co-hostess Hailey told them.

Everyone took the covers off, and saw on their plates there was a single dark colored egg.

"What is this?" asked Joshua.

"A 100-year-old egg." Monica explained.

"Gross." whispered Magdalena.

"Well bon appetite." Co-hostess Hailey said.

The teens reluctantly picked up the eggs. Caleb sniffed it, but gagged.

"Come on, Caleb." encouraged Yasmine.

"Here goes nothing." Caleb groaned.

He plugged his nose and threw the thing into his mouth. He chewed it up, and then swallowed.

"You okay?" asked Zachary.

"Fine."

Madison just plopped the egg in her mouth like it was no big deal.

"Hmm, not bad." she replied.

At the Titanium Tigers' table, they were struggling to eat the egg. Magdalena managed to eat it, and so did Jaime. Hayley sniffed it, and then took a bite out of it. She slowly chewed it up, and managed to swallow.

It tasted terrible, but she didn't feel any different, so she took another bite. Each teen put the eggs into their mouths, albeit slowly. Finally, Yasmine finished her egg.

"We're done!" announced Madison.

"Platinum Eagles win the first round!" announced Monica.

They all cheered happily.

"I'm glad we won the first round. (Gags) But this is going to be rough." Caleb confessed.

"Now it's time for the second course. Hailey?" Monica informed.

Co-hostess Hailey signaled the interns, and they put more plates on the tables. The teens took off the dish covers to reveal a good sized piece of meat on the plate.

"Well this doesn't look so bad." said Magdalena.

"What is it?" Caleb asked.

"Rat meat." Monica replied.

"Rat?" Yasmine replied disgusted.

Jaime slowly cut the meat with his knife and fork, and put some of it in his mouth. Zachary quickly just put it in his mouth.

"You know call me crazy but this rat sorta tastes like beef." Dixie mentioned.

Her teammates just looked at her.

"Did you seriously just say that?" asked Conrad.

"What? It does." Dixie defended.

Caleb tried to eat it, but he kept gagging. Madison just put it in her mouth, chewed it, and swallowed.

"Hey, Dixie's right."

Caleb then left the room to throw up. Meanwhile the Titanium Tigers managed to eat the rat meat.

"Titanium Tigers win the second round." Monica informed.

The Tigers cheered happily.

"You helped us out there, Dixie." said Hayley.

"I did?" Dixie asked.

"Yeah. You saying it tasted like beef made me think it was beef." added Benneth.

Dixie smiled. Then Caleb came back inside.

"Just in time for the next round, Caleb. Bring it on out." Co-Hostess Hailey called.

Then the next dish was rolled out.

"Next we have a Thailand favorite, deep fried...tarantulas." Monica said.

On their plates were the giant spiders not moving and looking singed.

"Oh my gosh." said Joshua disgusted.

"People actually eat these things?" asked Yasmine.

Caleb gagged again.

"You gotta keep it down, Caleb." urged Zachary.

He grabbed his spider, closed his eyes, and shoved the whole thing into his mouth. He chewed it up, then swallowed.

"You okay?" Madison questioned.

She then ate her spider like it was nothing.

"I'm fine."

At the other table, the Titanium Tigers were struggling to eat the spiders.

"This is so gross." whispered Hayley, as she held it.

Finally, Joshua ate his spider, and then Eagles announced they were done.

"Platinum Eagles win this round." said Monica.

And so the challenge went on. The next course was grilled dogs, and the Titanium Tigers claimed victory, then it was octopus which was hard to get down, but the Platinum Eagles won. Up next was rotten shark.

That round the Tigers won. The seventh course was blood sausages, they didn't taste too terrible, but they looked gross. That round was won by the Eagles. The next round was fried cow brains, which was won by the Tigers.

"You all have done well, and now it's time for the final dish." Monica announced.

"Thank goodness." whispered Jaime.

"I'm glad to hear that. My stomach can't take much more of this." added Caleb.

The interns then came out and put the last dish on each table.

"And for your final meal, you'll be eating...sheep's head." Co-hostess Hailey told them.

And sure enough on the plate was a cooked sheep's head.

"First team to finish it all wins." Monica said.

"Okay, guys, this is the last dish." Joshua told his team.

"We can do this." Magdalena encouraged her team.

The teams grabbed their forks, and began to eat the head. Madison had no problem eating it, but Caleb struggled. The Tigers were doing fine, and Hayley wasn't having any trouble eating.

"Guys, I think I'm slowing down." Benneth informed.

"Keep going, Benneth." urged Conrad.

He tried to, but he just stopped.

"Benneth." said Dixie.

"We're finished!" yelled Madison.

"The Platinum Eagles have finished the sheep's head. Meaning they're the winners!" Monica announced.

The Platinum Eagles cheered with joy, even Caleb.

"For a prize you win some stuff to help you get the taste of this food out of your mouths, and help any other issues. Titanium Tigers, I'll see you at the elimination ceremony tonight." The Tigers groaned.

"I'm a little nervous. I tried my best though, I just got full." Benneth said.

"Well, I think we all know who's going home tonight." Magdalena told the camera.

At the elimination ceremony, the Titanium Tigers cast their votes and waited.

"All right, Tigers, it's now time to see who's staying and who's leaving. When I call your name come get a tiki charm." Monica informed.

"Dixie."

"Magdalena."

"Conrad."

"Jaime."

It was down to Hayley and Benneth.

"And now the final tiki charm goes to..."

Hayley and Benneth looked at each other.

"Hayley."

"Whew." Hayley sighed.

"Sorry, Benneth." said Magdalena.

"It's cool, I should've tried harder." Benneth replied.

Then he left.

"And there goes another member of the Titanium Tigers. Who'll be next to go? Find out next time on Totally Epic!" Monica announced to the audience.
