Simon's POV

I couldn't really sleep after that and Tess' TV had been knocked off the wall so it was busted. I sat there deep in my thoughts for some time until Derek stirred.

"Hey bro," I said as he rubbed his eyes.

"How long have I been out?" Derek asked.

I shrugged, "I have no clue what time it is."

Derek looked over Chloe.

"She said something at one point," I told him. "Something about heart beats, I think it was just nonsense. She's still bouncing back, ya know?"

Derek nodded, "Most likely."

Chloe pulled the blanket up closer to her and shifted closer to Derek.

I smiled at her, how could so many horrible things happen to such a sweet innocent girl?

"Why don't I make you guys something to eat," I said. Sliding off the bed.

Derek wrapped an arm around her.

"Thanks."

I scavenged what I could from the kitchen but it wasn't a feast by any means. Most of the food covered the kitchen floor. I made some toast and eggs and brought them back to the room. Tess was still out but Chloe seemed to be waking up a little.

"Its not much, but I got this for you guys," I said, setting it down beside them.

Derek nodded thanks. Half out of it still, Chloe mumbled something.

"What?" Derek asked.

"Its soft," she repeated.

For a moment I was confused, until I realized she was gripping the blanket with both hands. I chuckled.

"Eat something Chloe," I told her gently. "You'll feel better."

Derek coaxed some food into her and finished off the rest. Derek brought Chloe out of Tess' room before we would accidentally wake Tess up and we sat outside in the grass. Chloe laid against Derek's chest.

"What happened?" Chloe asked.

Derek didn't want to tell her that he took her choice away from her. His eyes pleaded for her not to ask that question.

"Derek and Matt saved you," I answered for him. "From becoming a vampire. You got bit, don't you remember?"

Chloe shook her head. She did nearly die so some memory loss wasn't unusual I would say.

"I didn't know there was a cure," she said.

"There's not," Derek said. "We stopped it before you were fully transitioned."

"How?" she asked.

Chloe's POV

"How?" I asked.

Derek's heart rate sped up like he was really nervous. No one answered me at first.

"Well?" I asked.

I didn't think Derek's heart could speed up any faster than that. Geez. He was going to have a heart attack. What didn't he want to tell me?

My stomach growled loudly. I just ate, why was I hungry already?

"Hungry?" Derek asked. "Why don't I find you more to eat?"

"Derek," I frowned. "How did you do it?"

"We...we uh..."

Simon saved him before he had a nervous breakdown.

"They had to reinfect you with the werewolf gene so you wouldn't die after they got the vampire's venom out."

They what what? My head spun.

Derek fidgeted waiting for some sort of response from me. He was terrified of me yelling at him, storming off, hating him.

"Was it the only way?" I asked.

Simon nodded, "You were dying, werewolves can heal better; it was our best shot at keeping you alive."

"That's that then," I said.

Derek didn't know how to respond to what I said.

"What?" He said.

I shrugged, "You guys saved my life. Why would I be mad about that?"

"Because you're a werewolf again," Derek replied.

"I can handle that," I said. "But you need to calm down before you have a heart attack."

"You alright?" Simon asked Derek.

"I'm fine," he said.

I took his hand and traced little circles around his knuckles.

"You don't need to lie to us," I said softly. "I know you're scared of me being mad or going off the rails again."

Derek nodded slowly. His heart slowed a little, it was in the open now.

"I'm not. I promise," I said to both of them. "Thank you for saving me."

I hugged them both.
