Chapter 8: Roaches, Beetles, and Worms Oh My
"Last time on Totally Epic, the teams officially merged and now each contestant was on their own. They raced across the ocean on jet skis, and Dixie was the winner. Madison came in last and unfortunately, that meant she was the one to go.
Who'll be leaving next, find out now on Totally Epic!" Monica announced.
The contestants were just finishing up lunch when Monica and Co-hostess Hailey walked into the mess hall.
"Good afternoon campers. It's now time for today's challenge." Monica informed.
"I wonder what we're doing this time?" thought Joshua.
"I hope it's something fun." hoped Hayley.
"You really think the challenges are fun?" Zachary questioned.
"They're better than Chris McClean's challenges." she shrugged.
"That's true." agreed Conrad.
Once they were all finished, they followed Monica and Co-hostess Hailey outside. They all piled into the bus, and they all rode off. They drove a few miles and came to a large building.
"What kind of place is this?" wondered Magdalena, as she and the others got off the bus.
"This is where you next challenge will be held." Co-hostess Hailey explained.
They went inside, and saw that this building had a giant maze in it.
"Our challenge is going to be going through a maze?" asked Zachary.
"Yep." answered Monica.
"That seems simple enough." replied Yasmine.
"But looks can be deceiving, this is a different kind of maze. There are moving walls, and secret passages in the maze, and to open them you'll have to use special keys in hidden compartments, but there may be some surprised in those departments too." Monica explained.
"You'll have two hours to get through the maze, and the first one out wins invisibility." added Co-hostess Hailey.
"And it's time to begin. Good luck." said Monica.
The giant timer started, and the contestants made their way into the maze.
"You think we should stick together?" asked Caleb.
"I don't think so. The teams are dissolved." said Hayley.
"Yeah, it's everyone for themselves." Conrad added.
"That's true." agreed Zachary.
"Then this is where we separate. Good luck, guys." Dixie told them.
And they all went different ways.
"And there go our contestants. How will they get through the maze? Find out later on Totally Epic!" Monica announced.
Yasmine was making her way down an aisle, when suddenly the way suddenly shifted into a dead end.
"Whoa, Monica was right. This isn't an ordinary maze."
She then looked around for those hidden compartments. She tapped on the walls, until a compartment opened. She reached inside, but was met with an unpleasant surprise.
"What the?"
She looked in the compartment, and saw that it was filled with live roaches.
"Gross." she whispered.
But the key had to be in there, so she had no choice but to stick her hand back in. She did so, and started feeling around. Then she finally found it.
"Yes!" she whispered.
She then used it to unlock one of the secret passages. Then she kept on going. Meanwhile Joshua was making his way down an aisle, when he suddenly boxed in.
"Okay, now where's that hidden passageway?"
He looked around, and saw one of the walls had a keyhole in it.
"Now to find the compartment."
After feeling around some more, he found it. But when he looked inside, he saw that it was filled with live earthworms.
"What the...? (Sighs), this is gonna feel weird."
He stuck his hand in, and searched through the wiggly worms. Then eventually he found it.
"Bingo."
Then he unlocked the secret passage and went through it. And with Magdalena she had just turned a corner to a dead end. She was just about to turn around, she got boxed in.
"Okay, here's a secret passageway, now where's the compartment?"
Upon finding it, she saw that it was filled with beetles.
"Of course it wouldn't be this easy."
She gritted her teeth, and reached inside. After searching around she found the key. After shaking some beetles off her hand, she unlocked the secret passageway.
"Hope I don't run into any more gross things." she hoped.
Hayley was walking, when she ran into Caleb.
"Hey, Caleb. How have you been doing?" she asked.
"So far I've run into different passage ways, and had to dig through worms and cockroaches to find the keys." he told her.
"Gross, I had to go through beetles." she replied.
"Let's get going."
And they walked on together. Everyone kept going through the maze, getting trapped by the walls, and looking for the keys in the compartments filled with bugs.
"Oh, how do I even know if I'm going the right way?" Conrad asked himself.
But of course in mazes you just keep going until you found your way.
"Time is ticking, contestants. Better pick up the pace." Monica informed.
"And also we'll be kicking it up a notch." added Co-hostess Hailey.
"What does she mean by that?" thought Zachary.
"Hmm, which way now?" Dixie wondered.
She looked at the different ways, and then picked one. She got trapped, and started looking for a compartment for a key. But when she opened one, a whole bunch of cockroaches crawled out.
"What the?"
She opened another one and beetles crawled out.
"This is just like in those movies."
Dixie looked quickly in the different hidden compartments, until she found it. She managed to get out of there just before she got covered in bugs. With the other contestants they faced the same obstacle.
Yasmine was almost consumed by worms, Magdalena nearly got cornered by cockroaches, and Joshua had to face all three. Finally they all came to a single aisle.
"Well looks like we just need to go down this aisle to get out." observed Hayley.
"Last one out goes home!" shouted Caleb.
And they were all about to make a run for it, when suddenly they heard something behind them.
"What is that?" wondered Magdalena.
They all looked, heard the sound getting louder, and saw something. It was millions of cockroaches, beetles, and worms crawling towards them!
"RUN!" yelled Conrad.
And they all ran for their lives. The pile of bugs got bigger and bigger, and came closer to the teens. Soon, they became engulfed by them. Outside, Monica and Co-hostess Hailey were waiting.
"Time's almost up." observed Co-hostess Hailey.
Then they faintly heard screaming. The two women got out of the way, and a large amount of bugs spilled out. The first one to poke their head out was Joshua.
"Well that was fun." he said sarcastically.
"Really fun." added Magdalena.
"Guys, you have 15 seconds left, and last out is gone."
That got everyone's attention, and they scrambled out. Joshua was the first one to get out, and others followed. Then the timer buzzed.
"And time's up." Monica announced.
"So who's going home?" asked Hayley, as she brushed beetles off her.
"Let's check the video." Co-hostess Hailey told them.
They all turned to big TV screen. The video showed that After Joshua was Magdalena, Caleb, Yasmine, Conrad, Hayley, and Dixie.
"Aw man." complained Zachary.
"Well Zachary looks like you're going home." Monica said.
"Sorry, man." Caleb told him.
"Yeah, sorry. It was fun having you though." comforted Dixie.
"Thanks guys." Zachary replied.
So they went back to the set, and Zachary packed his bag. He then caught a taxi, and left the show.
"And there goes another contestant. Who'll be next to leave, and we're getting to the finals. How will it go and how will it end, find out next time on Totally Epic." Monica announced.
