Meanwhile Simon's POV

I walked down the hallway to go to the bathroom. As I passed by the girl's room I swore I saw a weird light under the door. I stopped and knocked.

"What?" Tori's voice answered.

I opened the door and stepped in.

"What are you up to?"

She had a ball of magic in her hand. Of course.

"Practicing," she said.

I tried to hide my expression and step back out but Tori caught it.

"What?" She asked.

I shrugged, "It's stupid."

Tori raised an eyebrow, waiting for me to elaborate.

I sighed, "I'm jealous that I'm the successful experiment. It sucks being surrounded by people who have unlimited power and I can't even unlock a door with a spell."

A devilish smile crossed Tori's lips.

"I could fix that, you know?"

"What?" She had to be toying with my emotions.

"I want to learn to do more stuff with my powers. What if I could give you your powers back?"

I blinked.

"Whats the catch?"

Tori shook her head, "Nothing. Maybe just keep quiet about it. You're dad did it to help you, don't go telling him you undid his work."

I was really off guard by Tori's genuine niceness and the fact she wanted to try to do this.

The following evening- Chloe's POV

Working with Matt yesterday had been helpful, even if it was a temporary solution. I sat around a small bonfire with Derek and Simon. I hadn't seen Tori all day, I had no idea what she had been up to.

I watched the flames of the fire, I think it was my imagination but they seemed to go in and out of focus. Was there something going on? I was starting to get anxious not knowing.

"So you two really think you're telepathic or something now?" Simon asked.

Derek had been bouncing the situation off him. He couldn't figure it out on his own.

We both shrugged.

"They did all sorts or tampering with me," I said.

I stared at the flickering flames, the pit of my stomach hurting again.

"So what are each other thinking right now then?" Simon tested.

"Chloe's trying not to say that her stomach hurts again."

Simon looked over at me, I wouldn't look up from the out of focus flames.

"Chloe?" He said after the silence.

I nodded.

"That's crazy," Simon laughed.

I sat up a little straighter as some muscles in my back got uncomfortably tight.

"You alright?" Derek asked.

I nodded, "Just...uncomfortable."

I couldn't pick the right word to describe it. Derek being Derek, he wouldn't let me brush it off as easily as I wanted it to be. I got quiet and unresponsive as he started peppering me with questions.

"Derek," Simon said. "Lay off, she doesn't want to talk about it."

Derek frowned but did.

I stood from my seat, "I'm going to grab more graham crackers for the smores. I'll be right back."

I walked away from the fire and back towards the house. My back seizing up again. I huffed as it traveled down my legs. That's when it hit me what was going on. I was changing right now. I froze in my tracks and looked back at Derek and Simon. I couldn't do this around them, I could hurt them. I didn't have a lot of control over my vampirism.

I looked back at the house, wanting Tess right now. But I couldn't put her in danger either.

A voice behind me, "Panicking over changing still?"

It was Nate. My shoulders got tight.

"Leave me alone," I told him.

"Let me help," Nate sighed.

I tried to say no but a shot of pain dropped me to my knees. Nate stepped over and picked me up. I gave up on protesting his help. If someone was going to help, it might as well be the person I didn't care if I bite.

I hadn't realized I was moving in his grip until Nate told me to stop.

"You've got to try to hold still. Do you want me to drop you?"

I looked around as he set me down to find we were in the tall grass that lined the property.

"The bunkers on the other side of the house." I said through spasms.

Nate rolled his eyes, "I don't need some magic bunker. Our people have been doing this for centuries without help."

I growled at him. He always had to get his boasting in when he could. My spine felt like it was going to burst out of my skin. I whined.

"Quiet," Nate instructed. "They boys are within earshot."

Nate instructed me through the change. He wasn't very sympathetic but he got the job done. I laid as a wolf, listening to Derek and Simon get worried that I hadn't returned yet.

"Use your telepathy," Simon suggested.

Derek growled at him, "I shouldn't have told you about that." He stood up. "She's probably stuck talking to someone. I'll go get her."

Derek started walking towards the house.

I approached the edge of the tall grass, watching. Tori came out as Derek went in and joined Simon at the fire.

"Chloe," Nate warned. "Control yourself."

There was a sharp pain in my jaw that nearly made me black out. My teeth sharpened into fangs. With the magic of my body changing, my vampire instincts were woken back up.

"Chloe," Nate warned again.

I inched closer to the vulnerable pair. A quiet growl escaped my teeth.

Nate swore and warned me one last time. There was the sound of him frantically trying to do something. My mind was on autopilot though. I didn't care to see what he was going. I walked along the grass' edge. Stalking. Something to my other side caught my attention though. The smell of the blood of a wounded coyote that was trying to pass by undetected. I bolted towards it. Instincts eager for the fight. Eager for the first taste of blood.

A solid mass of fur caught up to me and knocked me off my feet. A large magestic gray wolf stood before me. Nate shifted to stop me. I growled at him. Flashing my vampiric fangs. He growled back, accepting the challenge. I charged at him. This would be much more fun than a coyote.

The fight began. Growling, clawing, biting. It was hard to tell exactly what was going on, my mind and body were fully on vampire instinct autopilot.
