Derek's POV
We sat in the grass, Chloe back to being human. Nate ran inside to get a medical kit. She was covered in gashes and bite marks. So was Nate but we were both more concerned about her, Nate promised he made sure not to do any serious damage to her but I wasn't taking any chances. She had not said anything yet.
I gently kissed her on the forehead.
"I lost control," she said finally. Like she didn't deserve my affection.
"It happens Chloe," I gently played with her hair. "You can't learn from things going right. You learn from things going wrong."
"But this was a big thing to go wrong," Chloe refused to not beat herself up. "I tasted blood Derek. There's no going back from that now."
Nate came walking up with the first aide kit.
"We will find a way," I told her. "We always do."
Nate pulled out the alcohol swabs and opened the package. I pulled them from his hand. Not trusting him to touch her. Wound by wound, I cleaned them up so we could get a better look. The worst was on her thigh, one of Nate's claws had gotten her deeper than he thought. As I patched it up, I noticed some thin scars across her thighs. They were kind of faint but almost pattern like.
"What is this?" I asked Chloe.
Chloe wouldn't look at me.
"Chloe," I growled.
"Now is not the time for an interrogation," Nate snapped.
Under my breath I sent a few choice words Nate's way. He pretended not to hear them but I know he did.
Once she was patched up, I brought her inside and put her to bed. I didn't sleep much that night. I kept watch over her, waiting for something bad to come. I know I told her we would figure it out. But how?
Simon's POV
The following morning
After breakfast, Tori pulled me aside from the subjects I had been talking to.
"Want to practice?" She asked.
Trying not to seem as eager as I was, I nodded.
We went down into the basement. It would have been a better idea to do it in Tori's bedroom but Derek and Chloe were still in there.
"So what do you think about living with a necromancer-werewolf-vampire hybrid?" Tori asked.
"That she's been through a lot," I replied honestly.
Tori shrugged, "Yeah. But doesn't it seem like she's having all the fun?"
"I wouldn't call that fun."
Tori rolled her eyes, "Whatever. It's our turn to have some fun."
She sat down in the middle of the room and had me sit across from her.
"I want you to get used to using magic before I give you a whole bunch," she explained. "We don't need another time bomb on our hands."
It made sense to be honest, let me get used to the water before I just cannonball in.
She took both of my hands.
"Now I want you to imagine you are pulling magic out of me," she instructed.
"How on earth do I do that?"
Tori rolled her eyes, "Just do it."
I tried, it didn't work.
Tori had me try again. Unsuccessful.
"Alright, plan b," Tori said. "I'm going to force some magic into you."
She started mumbling something and I felt my hands start to get hot. I thought it was nerves at first but then I realized it was the magic. I looked to the floor beside us and mumbled out my smoke spell. It worked a lot easier than it usually did. When I tried to expand it, it covered half the basement's floor with ease. Whatever Tori was going, it was working. I was able to cast my spell.
Tori gave me an encouraging nod, "So we know that you can use the magic then."
"But how do we make it permanent?" I asked.
"I'm still working on that," Tori confessed. "Its not as easy as it sounds. I don't have anyone to reference, I'm trying to do it all on my own."
"That is not entirely true," I told her. Having an idea in mind. "You have Liz."
