Simon's POV
"What did you mean by getting help from Liz?" Tori asked me as we sat on the back porch eating our late lunch.
"Chloe and Liz," I said. "If we have Chloe bring Liz here, we can take advantage of her abilities. Liz is a poltergeist, she can go anywhere. What if we send her on a mission to other witches or Edison scientists or where ever and she collects the information on how to do it?"
Tori nodded, it was a stretch but she had to admit that it was easier for Liz to snoop around than ourselves.
"So Chloe would have to know about what we are up to then," Tori pointed out. "Which means Derek would get involved. Which would then mean your Dad would when Derek got upset."
I shook my head, "Liz communicated with Derek once through pencil and paper, remember? All we need is to get her here, after that we can talk to her ourselves. Yeah, it might be a little more lengthy than speaking out loud. But it can work."
Derek came outside and dropped himself into a chair. Heaving a frustrated sigh.
"I don't like that Jeremy kid," he said.
I was glad he didn't, or at least didn't seem to, hear what we were talking about before he appeared. I changed the subject away from Jeremy to a movie.
Chloe's POV
When we arrived home, the old version of Derek greeted me at the door.
"Where have you been?" He got in my face.
I knew better these days that when he did this, it was because he was worried. But that doesn't mean it stopped scaring me. I nearly dropped the basket of clothes.
"Laundromat," I said.
"And you didn't think to tell me you were leaving?" He growled.
I was about to respond with the fact that he was asleep.
Jeremy came walking up to the door with his basket, "Everything ok?"
"None of your business," Derek directed his aggression towards Jeremy now.
Jeremy didn't flinch, he turned to me and waited for me to speak for myself.
"It's fine," I said.
He nodded and stepped past us to get inside.
"I'm not a prisoner here Derek," I said. "I can go on errands."
"Something could have happened," Derek pointed out. "You lost it just last night."
"And I didn't lose it today," I said. "Progress."
Derek sighed, took the basket from me and hugged me. Planting a kiss on the top of my head.
"Please don't leave me," he said quietly.
I finally connected the dots when Derek said that. He thought I pulled another stunt like I did with the vehicles and disappeared.
"I won't," I said.
I took the basket back from him and we walked inside. I helped Tess divide up the laundry before going and sitting down with everyone. As usual, they were parked out on the back porch. I sat down on the chair next to Derek who was listening to Simon.
"-will be great and we should definitely see it."
I figured I walked into a conversation about movies. I looked over at Tori, typing away furiously as she half listened to the conversation.
My stomach felt kind of tight as it growled. I had been able to ignore the hunger at the laundromat with all the distractions but it was not so easy now.
Derek put an arm around me, hand resting on my side. He gently rubbed with his finger tips as it growled again.
Tori looked up, "You know we have food right?"
"I'm fine," I said.
She rolled her eyes.
"That's a little insensitive," Simon said to Tori.
"How?"
Simon glanced an apologetic look my way because he knew what he was about to say was also insensitive.
"Because what do you think she's hungry for?"
"Oh," Tori wrinkled her nose. "I forgot."
I shrugged it off like it was no big deal that it was true. I didn't want food. I wanted what I couldn't have. I guess until now I never realized how blood was like a drug to vampires. Enough was never enough. They would always want more. Watching vampires in movies I had always been like why did you kill thirty people? Wasn't like two people's worth of blood already more than you could ingest? But I was starting to understand how you could never get enough of your drug. I wanted more.
"Chloe?" Derek ripped me from my thoughts.
"What?"
"You haven't said anything."
"To?" I asked. I missed something while I was lost in thought.
Simon repeated himself, "What do you think about bringing Liz and Kyle back around? We haven't seen them in ages."
I nodded, "I think they would like that. We should bring them around."
