Tori's POV

I walked upstairs to my room and grabbed a notebook and pencil from Chloe's drawer. I set it on the foot of my bed and sat at the head.

"I don't know if you followed me up here Liz, but if you did here's some paper."

The pencil twitched and then lifted into the air. I couldn't help but smile, it had been so long since I got to talk to Liz. The pencil scribbled away on the paper. I moved closer to read it.

'I've missed you.'

"I miss you too Liz." I said. "But I have to admit I wanted to do more than just catch up. I want your help with something."

The pencil hovered still for a moment before writing. Like Liz was figuring out what to say.

'Hiding it from the others?'

I nodded, "Yeah. Its kind of private." I paused waiting for her to write something. She waited for me to continue. "I'm trying to help Simon. Give him magic or something. I can do it in contact with him but I don't know yet how to do it permanently."

The pencil wrote, 'And me?'

I sighed, "You factor in because you could help. I can't just go around asking other witches how to do it. They'd put a stop to it in an instant. I was hoping you would be able to spy on witches or Edison people or something and help me?"

Liz had been trying to write quick responses up until this point. But now she wrote away. I waited a minute before leaning over and reading it.

'I could try to help but it would take a lot of luck, chancing on someone who has the information. You should tell the others though. Chloe will notice my absence and ask questions. Maybe try to pull me back.'

"I can make sure she won't pull you back prematurely," I promised. "But I want to do this as on my own as possible. I just need your help, no one else's."

'Ok.' She wrote back.

I smiled, almost in tears. If she could help me find the information, I could really make a difference in Simon's life. Which felt good. The pencil started writing again.

'Catch me up now?'

Liz just wanted to talk like we used to. I smiled and nodded.

"Alright..." I began the story

Chloe's POV

Tess sat across from me.

"Talk to me Chloe."

"I-I-I just have this decision to make and I don't know what to do and everyone keeps telling me what to do."

I waited for Tess to throw her opinion into the mix as well. But she didn't.

"Chloe dear, that's what people do. They will always try to push their opinions and their sides. But you know that this is your decision to make, you know that you do not have to listen to them. You can choose to factor in their opinions if you want, or you can listen to what your heart says." She smiled at me. "What does your heart say Chloe?"

I closed my eyes, it felt like every body part was saying something different. My stomach said do it, my head said don't, but my heart? My heart was silent. Waiting to feel guilty no matter which side I chose.

"I don't know," I said.

"You do," she said softly. Not commanding me, just trying to give me a gently push. Like a mom.

I tried to push aside everything else in my head and just listen to my heart. I swore I faintly heard Ariana's voice. It was probably my imagination but I listened to it.

"Keep your friends out of danger. Whatever the cost."

I opened my eyes and looked at Tess, "I think my heart says to keep my friends and family out of danger."

"By doing what?" She prompted.

"Whatever the cost," I repeated the voice. "If I can keep the vampire stuff docile and happy, they won't be in any danger. The vampire won't come out and attack again. And it needs to be kept under control until I find a cure."

Tess nodded, following my train of thought. She smiled and pulled me into a hug.

"Its not as hard to make those decisions when you don't have a hundred people breathing down the back of your neck. Any time you are overwhelmed like that, just step away for a minute and listen to what you have to say. Not what others have to say."

"Thank you." I smiled at her. Though I still felt guilty about what my heart decided and wasn't sure if I could go through with it.
