Korra P.O.V
It felt great hanging out with Asami last night. Who would have thought that she'd be that amazing? "Thank you, Bolin, for being her neighbour," I mumbled to myself.
I'm moving in with my childhood best friend. Who would've thought that that would happen? But now I have to do the paperwork to reverse the lease that I signed. I know that most landlords don't do this, but mine understood. I'm unable to afford the apartment that I'm starting in. I also told them that I found a roommate in another apartment building, which I know might've made them mad, but they understood.
Every morning, before my day even starts, I have to go to the gym to do my first workout of the day; Strength. Today my trainer decided that it would be leg day, which I hate, but there's nothing I can do; I need to be strong to be on the Novas. The workout was around an hour and a half before we went for breakfast.
"So, Asami Sato, huh?" I gave him a look of pure shock.
"How did you know I hung out with her?" I asked him, trying to see where he got this news.
"It's all over TikTok and Instagram. Asami's fans know that she's gay, and due to you hanging out with her, they assume you are too."
That statement put me in a negative mood. Why can't people stay out of other people's business? It's not that hard. If I wanted to address my sexuality, which I am confused about, I'd say something about it; When I'm ready. Sure, Asami's attractive; she's a model. But for all I'm concerned, I'm only attracted to men. Asami's just a friend, and that's all I intend for her to be.
"Why are people so judgmental? Asami and I are just friends. We've only just reconnected. It's honestly none of their business."
"I know that you're angry, but this could be good for you."
"Good for me? How? My parents hate gay people, and now I'm in the press with a rumour going around saying that I'm gay," I started, "I'm not, by the way, which is why this bothers me. I worked very hard to get where I am, and a rumour like this, depending on the circumstances, could get me fired. But I know I won't because multiple people on the Novas are gay."
"Are you still not going to tell me who's on the team?" my trainer, Elijah, said.
I gave him a small smile, "you'll find out when the rest of the world finds out."
He gave me a fake frown, which caused me to giggle. Knowing Elijah, I'm able to talk to him about how I'm feeling. He's also only my trainer, so he isn't able to gossip with other people.
After breakfast, I order an Uber back to my apartment so that I'm able to sort out the paperwork so that I'm able to move in with Asami. I know that the next couple of hours will be stressful. In the end, it will be all worth it.
I'm so lucky that UberEats is a thing because, without my morning coffee, which I skipped due to training, I become the worst version of myself imaginable. All you need to know is that if I don't get my coffee before I start my paperwork, I'll be in a mood for the next two days, and I don't think anyone wants that. Luckily, my coffee did get here before the paperwork started, but I know for a fact that I wasn't going to do the work right away. What type of person do you think I am?
Sorting through and doing the work took me about two hours. Due to my leaving, I think they made the process harder since they don't want me to go. Don't get me wrong, the apartment is beautiful, but I found a roommate with an even better apartment.
Once done with all of the paperwork, I head to the landlord's apartment to give her the paperwork that I had just previously finished. She gave me a smile and a thank you before closing her door.
Now all I have to do is pack up the things that I had unpacked, which isn't much.
I also have to do cardio.
I feel confident in my new living accommodations. I'll be able to see someone that I missed for years every day. No matter the circumstances, I'll try my best to do what's best for both of us; In this case, lowering the cost of rent to nine hundred dollars a month.
Before going running, I finish my coffee so that the ice wouldn't make the coffee diluted. It's the worst feeling coming back to an iced coffee, and the ice has melted.
Moments before leaving the apartment, I call Elijah to ask how far I should run. He pushes me even when I'm not physically with him. It's crazy how much more fit than I've become due to this man. He lived in Atlanta for about a year, where he was training me before he moved here. Thankfully, due to me moving here, I'm able to train with him again.
Elijah decided that I needed to run ten miles and that I needed to show him proof that I did it. Will I be tired by the end of the day? One hundred percent. Will I feel better about myself? Absolutely. All I need to do is motivate myself. I always have to be.
I decided that I would run in black shorts and a sports bra. So that I wouldn't be overheating; That would be a nightmare. As Elijah said, I had to run ten miles, and I did. I was exhausted by the end. I took a screenshot of the proof of me running the amount I did before sending it to Elijah. Within five minutes of sending it to him, he replied:
"Great job! Proud of you."
Now it's time for a shower before lunch. I don't feel like smelling like mouldy onions while I'm eating something I enjoy. That would ruin my appetite; My shower was quick. Only enough to wash my body and hair.
I pick up my phone and dial the number of Asami Sato.
"Hey, Asami," I said when she picked up the phone. "Would you like to grab lunch? A little reward before we move my stuff over."
"I'd love to. How about Zesty Pete's?"
"Sounds good. See you in about thirty minutes?"
"See you then," was the last thing I heard Asami say.
I decided that since I was now going out to lunch, I'd put a bit of effort into the outfit. I grabbed my favourite pair of mom jeans, an oversized t-shirt, and my Doc Martens.
I then grab my phone, wallet, and keys before leaving the apartment. Since the restaurant isn't too far from my apartment, I decided that I would walk there. That was the worst idea of my life.
"Korra Andrews?" I heard a man say.
"Korra Andrews?" That's when the man appeared in front of me. "Tell me about your relationship with the model, Asami Sato."
"What is there to talk about; We're just friends." I tried pushing past the man, but he kept on asking questions.
"Well, she's gay, and you had an interesting night with her the other day." Are you serious?
"For your information, I am straight. I am not interested in Asami like that. She and I used to be friends when we were younger and just recently reconnected. Now may I leave?"
"Sure, go ahead." And with that, I walk as fast as my legs could carry me to Zesty Pete's.
I got to Zesty Pete's before Asami did. By only by a couple of minutes. While I waited, I ordered us water since I didn't know what Asami usually got while at a restaurant.
That's when I saw her. Today she was wearing black jeans, a red halter top, and her favourite pair of Vans. She looked gorgeous.
I got up from my seat so that she'd be able to spot ne from where she was standing. I waved to her as she spotted me.
"Hey," I heard Asmai say as she walked closer to me.
"Hey," I replied. "How are you?"
"Excited to start moving your stuff to my apartment. We'll have so much fun together; I can already see all the memories."
Asami had her usual smile planted on her face. She looked genuinely happy about me moving into her apartment.
"I'm excited too. I agree. It will be a blast."
Throughout the rest of lunch, we spoke about different topics; Politics, our families. Anything we could think of, we chatted about; It was great. Sadly, it finished so quickly.
As we were saying goodbye, Asami slid something into my pocket. It was a note.
Thank you for such a wonderful time.
I smiled. I'm glad that Asami had such a great time. It's not often that I have this amount of fun.
The walk home was quick, but it was still peaceful. People paid attention to themselves, not caring that others are surrounding them.
Once I got home, I started packing up the boxes that I unpacked days ago. Now that I know that I'm moving in with Asami, the packing went by quickly. The quicker I'm done, the quicker I'll be in my new room.
Once I finished packing, I decided that I wanted to work more on my strength. I know that I already worked on that today, but it will all be worth it in the end. No matter the amount of pain I'll go through in the next couple of days.
I head to the gym, and the first thing I do is head to the weights. I've been working all week on trying to be able to deadlift one-hundred-seventy pounds. I've only been able to lift one-sixty-five all week. No matter the circumstance, I'm unable to lift one-seventy.
It took me about forty-five minutes before I even attempted lifting one-seventy. I knew that it could go wrong, but I still wanted to try.
Once finished with the lifting, I decided that I wanted to visit the bakery that was nearby. It's a nice treat for after you've abused your body for hours at a time. I usually get a Boston Cream Donut with a coffee. Today I decided that I wanted to try something new. I couldn't choose between a Long-John or a Sour Cream Glazed donut. In the long run, I decided on the Sour Cream Glazed donut since I wasn't feeling any craving for chocolate.
After getting my donut and coffee, I walked back to my apartment. Due to me finishing all of my packings, all I can do is watch television. The first thing I saw, the moment I turned the tv on, was that it was a recap of the interview I did the other day. It seemed as though they were trying to figure out if I left any hints towards who will be joining me on the Novas. I did, but I doubt they'll figure it out.
I watched the recap for about twenty minutes before switching to another channel. I scrolled until I came across one of my all-time favourite shows. Supernatural. No matter how many times I've watched the show, I always feel as though I can never get tired of it.
I watched Supernatural for about two hours before deciding to bring some of my stuff to Asami's. She did say that the room that I'll be staying in is empty, so I might as well move everything over whenever I want.
I called an Uber, adding a note in the description asking for help moving my things to Asami's apartment. Ten minutes later, a black car pulled up into the parking lot in front of my apartment building.
"Korra Andrews?" The man in the front seat asked.
"That's me," I replied.
"I saw that in the description asking if I could help you move some things to a different location. For me to do that, I will be charging you an extra fifty dollars."
"That seems about fair, and I'll give you a nice tip if you help me move everything."
"Deal!" The man said.
We headed upstairs to my apartment and started grabbing box after box. By the time the half-hour mark passed, we had about fifteen boxes in both the trunk and the backseat. After bringing the boxes into his car, that meant that there were only ten more boxes to move after we drop these off; This has made my life ten times easier.
I gave the man, who said his name was Chester, my address of Asami's apartment.
I texted Asami that I brought my things over.
Already? That's fantastic. Text me when you get here so that I'm able to help.
I replied with an okay.
The trip to her apartment didn't take long. And unloading the car didn't either. Before I knew it, all of the boxes had arrived at Asami's apartment, including the ten that were still at mine.
Tonight will be the first night with Asami. How exciting.
The first thing I unloaded was my clothes. There was a closet and a dresser already provided, which made my life easier. There was also a bed, which was great. That means I didn't have to spend a ridiculous amount of money on something that I thought was uncomfortable. The moving process was quick; I didn't have to think much about where I was to put my things. Asami was helpful during this time.
After unloading two boxes of clothes, I decided that it was time to eat. I know that I didn't bring much food from my apartment, so I hope that Asami has some food in her cupboards. I'm craving ramen, but I know the last thing I need is that. Athletes are supposed to be healthy. Right?
I grab my wallet and yell to Asami through the apartment that I will be back soon. I'm heading to the grocery store so that I'm able to put some actual food in my body, not some processed crap that has an unlimited amount of chemicals in it.
Once there, I go immediately to the produce section. I grab lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, potatoes, and any other vegetable that you would want in your apartment. After the produce section, I go to the meats. I eat meat but, on occasion, I will buy chicken as a treat. I also eat seafood, but I leave that as a treat as well. I also see that there's tofu in that section, so I grab two packages of the compressed soybeans. Who can go wrong with tofu? You can do anything with it.
Once finished shopping, I head back to the apartment. I had four bags to carry, so I knew that I wouldn't be able to take the stairs. I took the elevator instead.
Once I was in the apartment, I noticed that Asami was already in the kitchen. I placed the bags on the counter which Asami immediately helped with putting them away. I've only been living here a couple of hours, but I'm surprised how great it has been so far.
"Thanks for going shopping," Asami said as she was putting the food away, "I was out of food but felt too lazy to go myself."
"Anytime. I enjoy a good grocery spree." I replied to her comments. Now that I have a roommate, I know that I'll have to step in on different chores. Whether it's laundry, grocery shopping, making dinner. Whatever Asami needs help with, I'll do since this was her apartment first.
Once the food was away, I grabbed ingredients so that I'd be able to cook us dinner. I was thinking spaghetti due to how easy it is to prepare. I filled a pot with water and waited until the water boiled before I seasoned it with salt. It won't bring to a boil if you add the salt first. I put the dried noodles into the seasoned water and wait for them to finish; About ten minutes. I then strain and pour sauce over them so that dinner was ready.
I handed Asami a bowl of spaghetti which she seemed happy to receive.
It's around seven-thirty now, which means that I'll have to be in bed soon due to me going to the gym early tomorrow morning. "Every day!" As my coach would say. I may be excited to be a part of a team, but I'm not excited about the amount of time I'll be spending working out. I already work out a lot, and that will add to my exhaustion.
Asami and I watch an episode of Atypical before I grab our bowls to wash. After that, I head to the shower to start my nightly routine. Shower, pyjamas, wash face, brush teeth, then bed. Every night; It soothes me. A daily routine that I haven't missed in years.
Before bed, I say goodnight to Asami.
She says it back, "Goodnight, Korra."
I felt chills.
