Jorrvaskr was quiet and fast asleep when Ria wandered over to Farkas' quarters. She followed a subtle noise of a strumming lute, dragging her feet as she walked. She felt butterflies in her stomach, dreading the conversation she was about to have with the Nord. She approached the door and stood for a few moments, her breath shaking and her body trembling. She placed a gentle and shaky knock on the door before hearing a voice from the other side to come in.

She opened the door slowly and peeked her head inside, looking at the Nord sitting on his bed and strumming his lute. Ria walked inside slowly and closed the door behind her, prompting him to look up from his strumming. Farkas' grin grew into a happy smile, "Hello, beautiful!"

Ria let out a soft chuckle as she felt her cheeks warm up from the compliment. She pulled a loose strand of hair out of her face as she plopped herself on his bed next to him. She looked up at him, letting out a quiet sigh, "I need to talk to you."

"Okay," he placed the lute against the wall by his bed, "I'm all ears."

She gave a weak smile and looked towards the floor, trying to avoid telling him the news. In truth, she was terrified. Not just of his reaction, but of what her future would be. Would she keep the child? Would she remain with the Companions? Will she have to raise the child all by herself? So many questions at once were making the palms of her hand sweaty. She nervously wiped them on her nightgown and clasped them together.

"Farkas," she started, swallowing the lump that formed in her throat, "there's no easy way to say this…"

"You're dying?" The Nord asked with a frightened expression.

"What?" Ria shook her head, "N-No, it's not that serious!"

"Well with your aches and nausea I just assumed-"

"No, no! I'm not dying," Ria assured him. Farkas cocked his head and gave her a curious look. The Imperial sighed before looking up at him. There was silence before she finally broke it. "I'm pregnant."

Silence.

Farkas' silver eyes widened, his mouth slightly gaped. Ria's heartbeat accelerated and her hands started to sweat even more. He wasn't saying anything, and to her that felt worse than any rejection.

"Say something…" she muttered.

She was surprised to see his previously shocked expression turn into one of happiness. "I'm going to be a father?" Ria looked at the Nord with widened eyes, though she couldn't find the words to answer his question. Farkas pulled Ria in for a passionate kiss, which left her even more confused than before. "I'm going to be a father!" He exclaimed again, nearly jumping from excitement.

Ria's eyes began to water and she looked up at him, "You're not angry?"

"Why would I be angry?" he asked innocently, keeping his large smile, "I've always wanted to be a father! And what's even better is that you're the mother!"

The Imperial, amidst all the shock and confusion she was feeling, started to cry. Not tears of sadness as she was preparing herself for, but tears of joy. She couldn't prepare herself for whatever response he would elicit, but she was glad that he wasn't angry or upset. Farkas pulled her in for a big hug before picking her up and dancing around his room. The two Companions weren't sure what would be in store next for them, but they were both so overcome with joy that nothing else seemed to matter anymore.

The following morning most of the Companions were out in the training yard. Some were training and others were sparring for their own amusement. Kaiah and Athis were sparring with practice swords, teaching eachother their own tricks of the shortsword. One thing that Kaiah had the privilege of learning since her time in the Companions is the different combat techniques between the different races. Nords were typically brash and "straight-forward" with their combat, as opposed to Redguards who usually seek an alternative and less invasive route. Dunmer seem to be quick on their feet as well, but choose to strike every chance they get no matter how frequent.

Vilkas was observing his students from afar, leaning against a nearby wood pillar with his arms crossed against his steel chest. Torvar was drunkenly assaulting Njada's steel shield while she stood there, completely unbothered. 'Drunken fool.' Vilkas thought to himself while he watched the drunk Nord make a fool of himself. Training had started nearly an hour ago and Ria and Farkas were nowhere to be found. He didn't care much if Farkas wasn't at training, but for Ria to be absent was very out of character for her.

"Where is Ria?" Vilkas shouted at the whelps. Njada didn't even look at him, still keeping her sights on Torvar, "The fuck if I know." Kaiah rolled her eyes at Njada's snarky remark and stopped her sparring with Athis. She looked at Vilkas and used her practice sword to hold herself up, "She isn't feeling well."

"Still?" Vilkas was surprised that she was still ill. Of course if you were ill you would be excused from training, but Ria had been sick for over a week now. He let out a long sigh before turning his heel towards Jorrvaskr to check on the Imperial. He made his way to the women's quarters and noticed that the door was already wide open. He looked inside and saw all the beds neatly made, including Ria's. He furrowed his brows and walked back out into the hallway.

His ears moved to the sound of laughter further down the living quarters. He knew it was Ria's, and he even heard Farkas' as well. He walked down the hall and turned right towards his brother's room which resided right across from his own. He knocked the door rather roughly and within seconds Farkas answered. To his surprise, he was actually clothed.

"Good morning, brother," Farkas grinned, opening the door only enough for Vilkas to see his brother. Vilkas scowled and crossed his arms, "Is Ria in there? She never came to training."

Farkas' eyes darted left to right, "Uh… no?"

Vilkas groaned as he opened the door to his brother's room, forcing himself in. He walked inside and saw Ria underneath the covers of Farkas' bed. "Gods!" Vilkas immediately covered his eyes and turned around, "I don't care what you both do in your free time but I still expect you at our training sessions!"

"It's not what it looks like!" Ria exclaimed. Farkas stepped in front of his brother and pulled his hand out of his face. "It really isn't, Vilkas. Ria just isn't feeling well."

"She seems perfectly fine to me," his twin retorted, rolling his eyes.

Farkas looked at Ria with pleading eyes. Ria let out a sigh before closing her eyes, "Just tell him."

Vilkas stepped back and rested his hands on his hips, looking at both his brother and student, "Tell me what?" Farkas relaxed his shoulders and sighed, "Ria is pregnant."

Vilkas' eyes widened as they darted between Farkas and Ria. His brother had a look of fear and Ria's of embarrassment. "What?"

"Ria is pregnant," Farkas spoke again. Vilkas held his hand up, "I heard the first time, just-" he rubbed the bridge of his nose as he silently cursed himself, "H-How?"

"Well, we had sex-"

"Obviously!" Vilkas cut him off, "Was this intentional?"

"No!" Ria cut in, "It was an accident!"

"Accident or not you can't raise a child in these halls," Vilkas explained matter-of-factly. Farkas chimed in, "Why not? We were raised here." Vilkas stared at his brother. It was true, they were both raised here since they could barely walk, let alone talk. "You want to raise a child? You want to be responsible for clothing, bathing, and feeding a child? For the rest of their life? Not to mention, who is going to care for your child while you are both gone on jobs? Huh?"

"Kaiah said she would help," Farkas admitted. Vilkas stared at his brother, wide-eyed and now full of unchecked fury.

"She said what ?'"

Kaiah sat outside on the porch behind Jorrvaskr, a book in her hand and a mug of ale in the other. She took a deep breath of the fresh air before exhaling and taking a sip of her drink. Drinking some ale after a hard training session was the greatest feeling ever for the Redguard. The sky was clear and the sun was shining on her sun-kissed skin. For a brief moment she felt like she was back home.

"Kaiah!"

The Redguard sighed loudly. The moment was oh so brief.

The warmth of the sun that she was feeling suddenly disappeared as a large shade in the shape of a tall man covered her. She looked up and saw a very angry Vilkas glaring down at her. She could practically see the steam coming out of his ears.

"You encouraged Farkas and Ria to have a child?"

Kaiah cocked an eyebrow and grinned, "I'm guessing you just found out you're going to be an uncle?"

"You think this is funny?" he slammed his hand on the table, leaning down to level with her, "because I'm not fucking laughing."

Kaiah looked back down at her book, her mug of ale in one of her hands, "Would it kill you to just loosen up and not give a fuck for once? Seriously, you are more uptight than my mother-"

The Redguard was stunned when Vilkas snatched the mug from her hand and slammed it on the table. Kaiah looked up at him with an annoyed glare, though annoyed would be an understatement to what she was currently feeling. "Look," she closed her book and placed it on the table, her voice dripping with venom, "I understand you're angry, but it's not my fault that they're with child now."

"You need to stop encouraging them to make bad decisions!" Vilkas barked back.

"Oh?" Kaiah scoffed, "Are you referring to me supporting my friends in the decisions that they chose to make? Together? Truthfully, it's not even any of our business anyways!"

The Redguard stood up and glared at the Nord, "Maybe instead of being angry with them, be happy that you're getting a niece or nephew." With that she grabbed her book and stormed into Jorrvaskr. The anger that he was previously feeling began to gradually subside. A niece or nephew? Now he was beginning to feel guilt. Guilty that he wasn't happy for his brother. He knew how much family meant to him, and he was too hard on him.

Even if it was an accident, it was his family, his blood. He should be happy for Farkas.

So why did he feel so angry?

And sad ?

The Bannered Mare was full tonight and the Companions were out to celebrate. Farkas and Ria decided to share the news with the guild, which of course everyone had their own feelings and opinions. The two didn't care, however, and wanted to celebrate their news with drinks at the inn. The tavern was bustling, with music playing loudly and patrons dancing until their feet gave out, the Nords certainly knew how to party.

Kaiah was sitting with Ria and Aela, sharing mugs of Honningbrew Mead, exchanging stories. She was happy that Farkas took the news so well, and Ria seemed relieved more than anything. Still, welcoming a new member to the family was a celebration worth sharing with the entire guild, and Kaiah was all here for it.

"You know…" Kaiah started giggling, setting down her mug on the table, "I need… I need some fresh air." She was starting to feel a little drunk at this point, and with the amount of people inside the tavern it was getting really hot. She got up from her chair and almost fell, which prompted the two other women sitting with her to laugh as well. She walked over to the double doors of the tavern and threw them open, feeling the amazing cool breeze against her hot and flushed cheeks. She tumbled down the steps and walked over the side of Arcadia's Cauldron and leaned against the wall.

She stood there for several minutes in silence, just taking in the beautiful Skyrim moonlight. She must have been so drunk that she didn't hear the footsteps coming from around the building.

"You're a long way from home, aren't you Kaiah?"

The Redguard looked in the direction of the sound, a very familiar voice.

A voice that she never wanted to hear again.

"Kematu?"

Kematu . An Alik'r warrior, narcissistic, and ex-lover of Kaiah's. He was a person from her past that she wanted to keep there. He was a tall Redguard man with vibrant green eyes and dark textured skin. His hair was dreaded with the sides of his head shaved completely, and his face had little to no facial hair. He was an incredibly handsome man, with a strong nose and large lips, but his looks were the only good quality about him.

"Missed me?" he asked smugly, his lips forming into a devilish smirk, "Because I have missed you, my dear."

"Oh please!" she scoffed, "You are the last person on Nirn I ever want to see."

He gave her a disheartening look, "Oh…? How could you be so cruel?" He started to walk towards her and put her hand up in front of herself. "How did you find me?" she demanded. Kematu chuckled as he shrugged, "I've been following you for weeks, Kaiah. C'mon, you didn't think that word of a Redguard woman joining the Companions would reach the Alik'r's ears? Of course, at first I thought it was our target-"

"I don't care why you're here!" Kaiah retorted, "Just turn around and go back the way you came!"

Kematu shook his head and sucked on his teeth, "No, no, no… I can't just go back. Especially not after I have found you, in the company of the Companions, no less." He crossed his arms and walked closer to her, "You see, you have violated the oath that you took as an Alik'r warrior by deserting your brothers and sisters. You can be sentenced to death for such a crime."

"Are you threatening me?"

"No, of course not," he assured, "consider it a… courteous warning? Of course, I can always look the other way, for a small price-"

"Forget it!" She drew her dagger from her boot and pointed it at Kematu, "I am not doing anything for you or the Alik'r. Not anymore!"

Kematu laughed at Kaiah, which seemed to anger her even more so than she already was. "My beautiful Kaiah… you have a strong heart, but it has clouded your judgment in far more ways than one." Before she could react, Kematu swiftly kicked the dagger out of her hand and pulled her arms behind her back, slamming her against the wall. With all the mead she had been drinking, her reflexes were about as fast as Torvar's. "I really don't want to hurt you… but you are leaving me with very little choice here."

Kaiah struggled to escape the Redguard's hold on her. She tried to get away but her muscles were far too weak for such a feat. 'Damn this mead!' She cursed in her head. She felt her body suddenly enter a fight or flight when she felt him against her rear. She had been with enough men, including Kematu, to know what an erection feels like, and she was appalled that this could turn into another incident that she never wanted to experience again.

"Do you remember when we were together…?" he hummed in her ear, making her body shiver in disgust, "You are still as beautiful as you were before…"

Kaiah struggled relentlessly to break free, but Kematu was a large man in stature, and he was much stronger than she was. He pulled her off the wall and dragged around the building to a dark alleyway. No people, no guards, nothing.

"N-No!" she tried to yell, "Stop!"

The man ignored her as he threw her against the stone cold ground, lifting up the skirt of her dress. She was laying flat against the ground on her front, one of his hands gripped tightly around the back of her neck. She could hear him fumbling with the buckles of his pants and she felt the tears start rolling down her cheeks. 'No, no, no! Please, no!' In a last ditch effort she tried to kick her feet up and hit him, but it did nothing.

He tore her breeches off and suddenly she felt penetration.

She began to cry silently from the pain, and for every moment it continued she felt a part of her dignity being torn away from her.

All she could hear were his moans and grunts of pleasure as he whispered disgusting things into her ears.

She wanted it to stop.

She wanted nothing more than for this horrible and degrading moment to be over.

Kematu found his release and finished inside of her, panning heavily as he removed his hand from the back of her neck. He slipped out of her and tucked himself back into his pants before leaning in again.

"I'll see you later, beautiful."

Kaiah laid there motionless as Kematu got up and walked away, leaving her all alone in the dark alleyway. She felt like she couldn't move. She was paralyzed. Hot tears fell silently down her cheeks as she laid there against the cold stone ground.

Minutes had passed and she finally sat up to lean against the wooden wall of one of the buildings. She pulled her knees to her chest as she shivered from the cold. She couldn't contain it any longer as she broke down into a quiet sob. She covered her eyes with her hand and she sobbed into it, reliving the horrible that had just transpired. If only she had stayed inside the tavern. If she had just walked out with somebody. If somebody had seen her…

She curled up against the wall and sobbed, because in that moment it was the only thing she felt she could do.
