Inej had placed her head into Kaz's, feeling his heart thumping between her ears Kaz's arms wrapped around her shoulders not wanting to let the other one go they stayed like this until Inej pulled herself away. Kaz let his arm's drop from her shoulders. "I'll keep Maya preoccupied whilst you speak to Jesper." Inej promised. "I Feel out of place." Kaz admitted. "I don't know where this heart would be, and I also took Maya's abilities for granted without thinking of the threat she possibly posed." Inej gave him a long look, she too saw only the good Maya provided even suggesting early on that Kaz allow her on the team. "If you would of told me before that you almost murdered her I would of counseled you against this very thing."

Instant regret hit Inej's face as she turned away, she didn't meant to sound so harsh. "I cannot help but agree with you." Kaz said his face as unreadable as ever. "I thought she was a fraud like all the others who claim to see the future. I was going to leave her in Ravka with a bit of kruge, enough to survive once I outed her source for the information she obtained." The voice that came from Maya's mouth the night of her vision was not her own but that of a man's. If not for that he would of still deemed her a charlatan who came by good information.

Inej walked away from Kaz carefully moving around the mattresses strewn around her and was gone before Kaz could say anything more not that he could think of anything. He made his way above spotting Jesper immediately sitting on one the chairs on the round table that was stuck to the floor. The flag they waved was one of the merchants giving them safe passage the way that Captain Sturmhond had intended for them to arrive in.

Kaz sat next to Jesper, as Jesper restlessly moved about his seat unable to sit still bored of the long passage into Ravka, he looked up just as Kaz sat down. "Hey." Kaz greeted him. Jesper returned the greeting quickly looking about them to see if he could spot Wylan who was conspicuously absent from his side. "Looking for Wylan?" He asked. Jesper nodded.

Kaz looked too natural, he knew Kaz had to be unsettled knowing so little he usually had everything meticulously planned before going on a mission but sitting next to him Kaz looked unconcerned about anything which meant he was concerned about something; he had seen Kaz was frazzled in his own way for the past week not anything that anyone would really notice that didn't know him as long as he had. "What's bothering you?" Jesper suddenly asked. Kaz's look of surprise looking at his old friend would of fooled anyone who didn't know him, beyond Inej and Jesper. The blank look back from Jesper made him drop the pretense.

He explained everything to Jesper that he had just said to Inej. "So, what do you want from me?" Jesper asked. "I've seen the way that Wylan looks at Maya and you, he's jealous now more than ever. I've given it some serious thought we can do this without Maya." Jesper has in fact saved Maya from getting out of bed in one of her sleep walking would be escapee's. "I can't believe you just said that." Jesper said. "To bring Wylan into this, he cares about Maya's safety as well and he might be having a hard time adjusting to our sleeping arrangements, but he would never even consider letting her fall to her doom. I doubt very much she is planning your demise and if this is what is occupying your thoughts than I'd advise you to get your head out of your ass because we're all depending on you to know what you're doing when we get to Ravka." He seethed.

"Jesper, I've never met anyone who posed such a threat in my life." Kaz said letting his guard down. Jesper's anger quickly shifted, as long as he knew Kaz he never knew the man to be paranoid. His first instinct was to put a hand on Kaz's shoulder but thought better of it. Kaz didn't want sympathy he wanted…needed reassurance. If Kaz could prove that Maya was plotting to end his life Jesper wouldn't hesitate to put a bullet in her brain, but he couldn't justify putting her life at risk because Kaz thought she had the intentions of doing so.

"We brought her along for abilities and now you want to end her life because of it. Think Kaz that is the same campaign people used to end Grisha's lives, haven't you thought that maybe she is Grisha but no word exists in her own country? I thought about this a lot because she said people were convicted of being witches and were burned to the stake in much the same way as Fjerdans if your so worried why not talk to her yourself?"

The two best friends fell into silence neither knowing what to say to the other. Kaz felt too raw and emotional to speak not knowing if Maya was friend or foe, Jesper hoping Kaz would see reason. They were twelve hours from reaching Ravka.
