The end-of-term party. It was a ball held to celebrate everyone passing the exams. Or so they told you. But Leon knew better. It was just a mixer where you could find girls to be your wife disguised as a party. Despite living here for years, the culture around getting a wife as soon as possible was not something Leon, as a former Japanese, understood. And thus, when his two friends, Daniel and Raymond wanted him to join their wife-hunting, Leon declined.
He did not understand why both of them cried about him being unfair, though. From the corner of the room, Leon observed the two trying to talk to the women. He winced when none reciprocated. One even used her slave to manhandle Daniel.
Leon approached them and picked Daniel up. "Please pardon my associate here, my ladies. He was simply too passionate to find love."
"Hmph, as if losers like you deserve to be at my side," one of them made a snide remark. And Leon was being polite too... well, screw politeness. Strength, kindness, beauty. None of the ladies in his vicinity had even an ounce of them. They did not deserve his manner.
"Well, I'm sorry that my taste in women is better than a pompous prick like you," Leon replied before he gestured to Raymond, "Let's go. None of the ladies here are worth our time."
He ignored the shriek coming from behind him.
"Thanks, Leon," Daniel and Raymond said after they left the ballroom and found solace in the courtyard. "You don't have to stand up for us like that."
"They're not worth your time. Unlike Clarice and Livia, they don't even have a speck of strength, kindness, or beauty," Leon responded.
"Shit! I still don't understand how you got close to Lady Atlee like that," Raymond grumbled.
"It wasn't me, but Livia."
"Tch! You still don't understand our plight!" "That's right!"
Leon ignored them. While they were fun and had common ground at first, they were kind of jealous that he was friends with Clarice, despite him saying that Clarice took pity on him by virtue of being Olivia's friend. It was not the truth, of course. But Leon did not understand how his friend still denied his lie. He ensured to only interact with Clarice in Olivia's presence to prevent rumors. Still, the two were sharper than he thought.
"...I'm tired," Daniel sighed, followed by an affirmation from his buddy.
"Me too."
Before Leon could say anything, he heard hurried footsteps.
"Leon! There's trouble!" The familiar voice of Olivia came from behind them. She did not explain things further, just directed them to the ballroom; specifically, the crowds inside the ballroom forming circles around two sides.
On one side, the prince and the other capture targets were with Marie. On the other side, standing alone, was Angelica rapha Redgrave, the villainess of the otome game.
A short explanation from Olivia told Leon that it grew from a small argument into this. Wait, could it be?
As Leon saw Angelica reveal that Marie was five-timing them, he wanted to sigh. Marie, the reincarnated mob girl who usurped Olivia's place as the main character of the otome game, speedran three years of effort to get the reverse harem end into three months.
Now he realized that the fate of this world was truly out of his hand.
"Leon?" Olivia asked in concern. "Why is everyone against Lady Redgrave?"
"I don't know, Livia," he lied. He knew it was because Marie tripped all the flags for the reverse harem end, but he did not know how to explain it to Olivia. Looking at the scene from the perspective of a mob like this, it did look ridiculous that the lady wasn't backed by her followers at all. Did they jump ship at the last minute?
Leon's worry was proven when Angelica threw her gloves and challenged Marie. All five capture targets offered to become Marie's representative, making the spectators swoon in delight. Meanwhile, Angelica looked around at her followers first and at random people after.
Nobody wanted to meet eyes with her. After all, being Angelica's representative meant they would face the five capture targets, who were all prodigies of their own rights.
Angelica was looking at him, but before their eyes met, Leon's arm was tugged by Olivia, missing her eyes by a small margin.
"Leon?" Olivia whispered. "Lady Redgrave is not a bad person. Why isn't anybody helping her?"
Oh no. Leon did not like the look on Olivia's face. If he recalled correctly, Clarice did tease Olivia about being taught violin by Angelica. Leon did not mind that because it meant Olivia strived to become a Grand Princess. He did have a small internal laugh of irony because the protagonist was being helped by the villainess, but he did not think more about it. But he should have known better.
Olivia wanted to become a Grand Princess, and as the Princess Precures loved to say, she had to have strength, kindness, and beauty. Seeing the injustice in front of her, there was no way Olivia wouldn't extend her hand to help, especially to someone she owed so much, like Angelica.
Angelica lowered her head in shame. Most likely because nobody wanted to become her representative. However, there was precisely one standing beside Leon, and it was simply because she liked Angelica.
He quickly put his hand on Olivia's shoulder, stopping her from doing anything risky.
"Leon..."
"Senpai..."
For a split second, Haruno's face overlapped with Olivia's. It must have been his imagination, nothing else. Leon shook his head to rid himself of the thought.
"You're important, Livia," was the thing Leon whispered back before he took a step forward.
"Wait, Leon? What are you doing?" Raymond said to him after noticing his step. "There's nothing we can do! We'll probably be going to lose!"
Leon looked back.
"I step up so Livia doesn't have to."
And with that, he came forward.
Really, Leon thought to himself. What the hell am I doing?
He was just a mob character. Nobody important. He had been content with living an ordinary mob life after he got out of Zola's thumb. Still, fate told him otherwise by giving him Olivia as Haruka's successor. Being close with Olivia, and later Clarice, and helping them as the Princess Precures was the furthest thing away from being a mob.
And now he was entering the limelight because Olivia was being Olivia. Truly, fate loved messing with him.
Standing beside Angelica rapha Redgrave, Leon raised his arm.
"I'll be Lady Redgrave's representative. Is that acceptable?"
His intervention caught everyone's attention, with Angelica being the most surprised of them all. "You are..."
"Now, now, Lady Redgrave. Let's make it official before you say anything," Leon smiled at her.
"...fine. I accept you as my representative."
Leon took a step forward, making him stand in front of Angelica.
"And thus, I, Leon fou Bartfort, shall be Lady Angelica rapha Redgrave's representative for the duel against the prince and his entourage," Leon faced the prince and nodded. "Shall we talk about the rules and stakes of the duel?"
Leon looked back at the lady he was representing. "What is your wish, Lady Redgrave?"
Angelica looked startled at being addressed by Leon before she hardened her resolve and glared at Marie.
"Stay away from His Highness."
Leon wanted to sigh. She was a shortsighted idiot. Doing that would just make her more despised by everyone, mainly because Marie was clearly making her best impression of being an otome game protagonist and appeared innocent.
His fear was proven when the whole hall turned against her even more, making his job harder. And now even the prince and his entourage were against her self-centered wish.
"And?" Leon ignored their shouts and whispers and looked straight at Marie. "What is your condition for the match, Lady Lafan?"
"I-If I win, please stop this fight... I don't think it's right to use your family name to order others around," Marie put her best puppy dog eyes for the world to see. Right. Leon recognized the line. It was a word-by-word ripoff of Olivia's line in the game.
"So, to summarize, if Lady Redgrave wins, Lady Lafan is not allowed to continue things with His Highness Prince Julius. If Lady Lafan wins, Lady Redgrave has no more rights to intervene with Prince Julius. Is that fine?" Leon reiterated their terms.
"We accept," Julius replied.
"Next, about the type of match we'll be having..."
Inside her room, Marie gritted her teeth. What the hell was that random mob character intervening between her and her stable future? Marie had tripped all the flags perfectly and triggered the duel early to make sure that she got to taste that wonderful life earlier! But that guy had to ruin it!
But something ate away at her. Leon fou Bartfort was his name. While Marie did not remember ever interacting with him, for some reason, the name 'Leon' was familiar.
"Well, he's an up-and-coming noble, known for conquering a dungeon before entering the academy," Kyle, her half-elf servant, answered when she asked him if he knew anything about this Leon. "From what I gathered, he was quite average in piloting, so you have nothing to fear, My Lady."
No, she did not pay attention to his apparent fame at all. She knew him from something else, though she did not remember.
Letting out a sigh, Marie lay down in her bed. She wanted to quickly become the protagonist of the otome game. What should have been an easy mark on the villainess somehow turned into a spectacle. Not to mention she knew the name Leon from somewhere.
Think, Marie. Think. Where did you hear the name 'Leon'? It had only been three months, most of which were spent with the five capture targets. She couldn't have forgotten something that stuck out, like Leon's name.
"-please wait here and follow Leon's instructions, yeah?"
Marie gasped. That was... she wasn't sure if she remembered correctly because it felt like a fever dream, but Marie was sure the moment she was saved by the pink magical girl, she was handed to someone named Leon.
Right, the magical girl. Now that was another matter altogether she decided to ignore in favor of getting a comfortable life of luxury.
Did this mean Leon had some connections with what was happening? At first, she did not deign the rumors about weird monsters, but after she was attacked and saved by one, she acknowledged them. The five capture targets still held grudges, but Marie held them back by saying something along the lines of 'not wanting to see you get hurt.'
Recently, there were rumors about frilly-dressed warriors fighting the monster, which clearly lined up with her own experience. Nobody but a mob girl from her year ever saw them, so they didn't put much stock on the rumors, but now that she was reminded about Leon, she realized that she, too, was saved by the frilly-dressed warrior from the rumors.
Oh, frilly-dressed warriors were too much of a hassle to call. Marie would just call them Precures to make it easier in her mind.
Yeah, against all odds, Marie had an experience with magical girls fighting in frilly dresses back in middle school. It was just a weird thing that happened to the whole class, but it was memorable because suddenly, the new transfer student in her class was an alien. An alien that can transform, along with her other classmate, into magical girls.
No, no, Marie. Stay focused! She reminded herself. Leon fou Bartfort... I think it'd be better to delay some flags to observe him.
Leon half-expected his room to be thrashed and vandalized, considering the sharp whispers and harassment he got in the day. However, he found that his room was as he had left it, being guarded by one of Clarice's followers in the front. The big guy looked at him and nodded, to which Leon replied with a grateful smile and a nod.
News reported fast, and Clarice chose him over her standing. Leon was grateful that Clarice was really kind. She truly was the ideal senpai.
"My Lady wants to talk to you," the guy guarding his room addressed him.
"Clarice does? Where and when?"
"Somebody will pick you up later."
Leon nodded and entered his room. Before he closed the door, he glanced back at Clarice's follower and gave the nod. "Thank you."
"Thank My Lady instead, I'm just doing her command."
"Of course, I'm gonna thank her later. Thank you for taking the task up, anyway."
The guy did not reply.
Closing his door, Leon let out a big sigh as he leaned on the door.
"I never expect being scorned to be this tiresome."
You are lucky you're friends with Atlee. He heard Luxion commenting on his situation.
"Hence, my thanks," Leon agreed with Luxion.
Master... Luxion trailed off. I have been thinking about what you said.
"Hm? Define what 'I said' because I've said too many things," Leon replied.
...As usual, when not in your mentor mode, you're infuriating.
"Hey!"
It's about me being old humanity's hope. I pondered over things and realized that you were right. In a sense, I am old humanity's hope, whether my creators intended me to be one or not.
Leon shrugged. "Good for you."
And thus, I realize that nuking the New Humans might not be the best decision for me.
Good! Leon finally didn't have to hold the leash too tightly!
Since you have Old Humans' DNA, I shall wait until you produce an offspring and scan their DNA. If they could be passed to your children as a dominant gene, then we can return the Old Humans to the forefront.
Leon nodded. "Make sens-wait a fucking second! Am I hearing it right?!"
If Luxion had a head, Leon was sure he would have nodded it. Yes. I am willing to wait and see whether the Old Human's gene is dominant or recessive. If it is dominant, then I request you to partake in more-
"What the fuck, Luxion?!"
I am playing the long game, Master.
Leon shook his head, "No, I fucking knew that! I want to know why you think I'd want to do it!?"
...Because technically, you will have a harem?
"...Okay, fine. You got me," Leon admitted to his familiar. What healthy young man would not want a harem? "But it's not as if I can easily find a wife, let alone more. So let's just wait and see in the future. Then there's still the matter of whether my wife would even agree to the proposal."
Don't worry, Master. I can be persuasive.
"All the more reason I can't trust you!"
Their bickers were interrupted by knocks from the door. "Bartfort. Your escort for meeting with Lady Clarice has come."
The voice of his room's guard came out from the other side. Leon opened the door, and another of Clarice's followers, who wasn't as intimidating as the one guarding his room, greeted him. "Bartfort. I will escort you to Lady Clarice."
"I don't really need it, but thanks."
"That's Lady Clarice for you, always so thoughtful and kind. Be grateful, Bartfort."
"There isn't a day in my life when I don't feel grateful that Clarice became friends with me," Leon retorted. He pitied Jilk, who lost a compassionate girl like Clarice, to chase a mob like Marie. Granted, she was cheating by using her knowledge from the otome game, but Jilk should've known better than falling for a girl who chased all five of them.
Although, from the five capture targets' reaction to Angelica exposing her activities last night, they wouldn't mind sharing Marie. Otome game capture targets were scary! As a guy, Leon wouldn't share anyone he loved with all his heart with anyone else.
The walk ended in front of the usual room where Olivia had training. Master probably let Clarice borrow the room.
"Here she is," the guy escorting him said, gesturing at the door.
"Thanks," Leon said in courtesy.
"Hmph. Don't drag our Lady's name further down with you, got it?"
What a tsundere, Leon remarked. It would've been more convincing if the guy hated him, but he did not, and it came off like he was tsundere for Leon. No, thank you.
Leon entered the room to see Clarice and Olivia on each side of Angelica. All of them were sitting on the chair, leaving a seat on the opposite side empty.
Come on, girls. At least take my side. Leon rolled his eyes and took a seat.
"Good Afternoon, Clarice, Livia, and you too, Lady Redgrave," he greeted them. A small meow caught his attention. So Fragrance was also here. "Of course, you too, Fragrance, you damn cat. Clarice, thank you for assigning your followers to protect my room."
Turning his attention to the senior, he caught her sighing.
"Honestly, Leon. The moment I heard the news, I had to quickly throw my support on your and Angelica's shoulder. The second years usually stay out of the first years' affair, but since this matter concerns the Prince and even Jilk, I had to do it," she glared at him. "Take responsibility!"
She was too kind to have a menacing glare, though, so in the end, it made her look cute instead of scary. Though, he had no doubt Clarice could turn into one should he voice his thought.
"Senpai, as I said before-"
"No."
"Don't, Livia."
"Meow!"
Both he and Clarice stopped Olivia from blaming herself. Even Fragrance, who understood the context, gave her meow of disagreement with Olivia.
"But-"
"I said it before, didn't I? I know what you're about to do, but if it's you, it would be foolish. Despite your protection under Clarice, you're still a commoner without strong backing. So I will take your place. By no means I'm blaming you, Livia. In fact, I'm proud of you," Leon smiled at her.
Olivia gaped at Leon's explanation.
"The fact that you chose to help Lady Redgrave at that time means you're living up to your ideals."
"Strength, kindness, beauty," Clarice voiced softly. "Leon is right, Livia. Your kindness makes us proud. But you must realize that you are not the right person to nominate yourself as Angelica's representative."
Olivia lowered her head and frowned. "That's..."
"Raise your head and be proud, Olivia," Clarice demanded. She even used Olivia's full name instead of the affectionate nickname. "Instead of feeling sorry, there is something you would better say to Leon, isn't it?"
Meanwhile, Angelica was silent, listening to them. She felt something reach her lap. When she looked down, it was to see Fragrance resting there.
Olivia nodded fervently at Leon. "That's right. Thank you, Leon!" She smiled sadly at him.
"You're welcome, Livia," Leon gave his response. He then turned towards Angelica and Clarice. "Now that the matter of Livia's guilt has been placated, to what do I owe the pleasure, Lady Redgrave?"
Angelica sighed. Quite an unladylike behavior. However, considering the situation, Leon would let that slide. "I'm going to be honest with you, Bartfort. I wanted to ask you to withdraw from the duel," she declared as she started to stroke Fragrance's furs.
Everyone inside the room was up in arms before Angelica cut them all off with a stern, "However!"
All of them contained their anger and listened.
"Once I heard your reasoning, I understood that you're not doing this to gain my favor," Angelica let out a bitter smile. "You're doing all this for Olivia's sake, isn't it? Because Olivia wanted to help me, and you don't want her, the commoner, face against the peak of nobility, His Highness himself."
Leon did not say anything. What Angelica said was correct, although he also did not want to draw Olivia into the limelight with her secret identity as Cure Flora. Although, Leon thought to himself. Why did she look so sorrowful?
"I'm a duke's daughter. I have everything a commoner wants, and even then, I can't have the only thing I want. I envy you, Olivia," Angelica remarked to the commoner in the room.
Ah. It was about the Prince.
"Meow~" Fragrance, in her own way, tried to soothe Angelica's heart. That did it. The damn cat just hated him! She was amicable to others! Even the villainess!
"My condolence, Lady Redgrave," Leon gave his condolence. "But clearly, the Prince and his entourage -yes, Clarice, that includes Marmoria too- are stupid for ignoring their fiancee and choosing that Lafan girl instead."
Angelica smiled and replied with thanks while Clarice forced out an awkward laugh.
"Ahahaha, you're exactly right, Leon. But enough about Jilk! I'm trying to move on, after all! Maybe with this, my message to Father about ending the engagement between us would get attention," Clarice muttered.
"Lady Redgrave, this is not the end for you, you know?" Olivia suddenly grabbed Angelica's shoulder.
Angelica shook her head. "My family had contacted and reprimanded me. I don't know what will happen to me after this."
"But I still want you to teach me the violin, Lady Redgrave!"
Angelica smiled. "Right, teaching you is surprisingly one of the joyous time I can have after the Prince get close to that wench. Thank you, Olivia."
"You can call me Livia like Clarice and Leon!" Olivia looked at her with teary eyes.
Angelica averted her gaze, cheeks tinted with pink. "Alright, ...Livia."
Wow, Leon thought. He got a first-class seat of how an otome game protagonist charmed her surroundings.
"I can't exactly tell you to do anything, Angelica. But I recommend moving on. Like me," Clarice looked at her with eyes full of sympathy. "I was lucky that Leon and Livia were there with me, being all understanding. I can't imagine being alone like you last night."
"No... I..." Angelica looked conflicted at Clarice's advice. "I guess I'm finding it hard to let go. I know the Prince doesn't love me back, but..."
"It's hard, isn't it?" Clarice said before moving to embrace her fellow noble.
After a while, Angelica turned towards him again. "I assume, then, Bartfort, that you understood the repercussion of facing the Prince and his entourages? What would it mean to your family standings and all that?" At Leon's nod, Angelica let out a sigh.
"Fine, then. I can't stop you. But I will try my best to appeal to the crown that this is all my fault, so your punishment won't be as severe as mine."
Leon blinked. Hold on. There needed to be some clarification here.
"You're already looking like you lose. Such a face does not befit you, Lady Redgrave," Leon grinned. Although, with his face, it would be more proper to say he smirked.
"They're all strong. You have no chance. Even the student body favors them instead of you," Angelica pointed out.
"So you think it's no use hoping for a win?" Leon asked back. This was the kind of mentality that Haruno disliked back in Noble Academy. "Listen here, Lady Redgrave. You can't dream when your heart is full of despair. Saying something like 'I will definitely lose' before even trying, how will you find a way with no hope inside your heart?"
And why did he have to be the one saying it? This was Olivia's job, damn it.
"But-"
"Pardon me for cutting you off, but I have quite the confidence in myself. You all better believe in me!"
Leon exaggeratedly pointed his thumb to himself.
"...Right," Clarice rolled her eyes, not believing a thing he said.
"Hey! I may not have confidence in navigating the school's social spheres, but I have one in my ability! How do you think I gained a title? Bribe? I went on an adventure!" He disagreed with Clarice's dismissal.
Olivia giggled. "Alright, Leon. I believe in you."
Goddamn, that smile lit up his black heart. Averting his eyes out of embarrassment, Leon stammered, "R-Right. Thanks, Livia."
"I do trust you, Leon," Clarice sighed. "Please exceed my expectation and win."
"Understood, Clarice," Leon let out a small laugh at her exasperation.
"...So, you think you can win?" Angelica asked hesitantly.
"I don't think," Leon grinned. "I know."
What should have been a cool moment for him was spoiled by the knocks on the door.
"Enter," Clarice shouted firmly.
"Lady Clarice!" Another of her followers, this time a girl, entered, gasping for breath. "A new development! The other fiancees also vocalize their support for Bartfort!"
Clarice's eyes widened, and so did Angelica's.
Leon himself went deep in thought. While on the surface, their support would be suitable for him, when you looked deeper, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. He wasn't familiar with the other fiancees. In fact, he didn't even remember Clarice from the game all that much, just her name being mentioned a few times. The fiancee that stood out for him was only Angelica because, well, she was actually quite a striking beauty. The other three fiancees threw their support behind him now, no doubt because Clarice did so first.
"Offrey..." Angelica muttered under her breath.
"I never quite liked her either," Clarice retorted.
"Um... can anybody explain?" Olivia raised her hand, confused at the situation. "I take them supporting Leon is not all good, looking at the situation?"
"Indeed," Clarice was the one answering. "They did it because I supported Leon first. I have a feeling they misunderstand my move as some sort of revenge against Jilk, but it's not. I only did it because it's Leon, a close friend. But now that they voiced their support, people are gonna misunderstand my move as being against Jilk and the other fiancees against their fiances. The other two are not as sharp as Offrey. This move reeks of her."
"Oh crap," Leon just realized one important thing. "If we look it from outside the schoolyard playground context-"
"The faction under the King fractures," Angelica finished with a nod. "I was chosen as Prince Julius' fiancee because of the Redgraves. Clarice was chosen for the same reason. Both of our families are close to the royal family, and the engagement was to tie us closer."
"If worse came to worst, we'll have a cold war between the factions in the court."
Everybody went silent at Clarice's conclusion, their body tense at the realization.
"Clarice, can you do some damage control?"
"I'm thinking," Clarice nodded, agreeing with Leon's thought.
When all of them were deep in thought, a soothing voice interjected.
"Everyone..." It was Olivia.
"I'm not as capable as you are in politics, but doesn't Leon just need to win?"
Leon blinked. Hmm, certainly, when Olivia put it that way, it was enough.
"If Leon wins, it shows that the five lack critical thinking, and the fiancees are correct in supporting Leon. I can even use it as a pretense to break my engagement with Jilk," Clarice agreed with Olivia.
"It still doesn't solve the fracturing faction," Angelica interjected. "It does, however, lessen the impact if Leon wins rather than loses."
"...Right. Why did you quickly throw out your name again, Clarice?"
She pouted, "Leon, you ungrateful jerk! I did it to save you, idiot!"
"Leon! Please don't blame Senpai! I requested her help this morning when people began showing hostility to you," Olivia grabbed his arms.
"Yes, yes," Leon sighed. "I understand, Clarice. Nobody can reject Olivia with how cute she is."
"L-Leon!" Olivia mouthed in a stammer, face fully red. The pout on her face added cuteness to the expression.
"See?" Clarice smiled at the cute Olivia. "But yes, damage control will be easier if you win, Leon. So, please do."
"So now the burden is all on me?" Leon said with a grin.
"Sorry for putting an extra burden on you," Clarice smiled softly.
From the corner of his eyes, Leon saw Angelica looking at Clarice and him with slight envy. Looking back at her admission of envy from before, Leon thought all she needed was a support system. Come to think of it, Angelica's followers left her, didn't they? Unlike Clarice's own, who were loyal to her.
"Lady Redgrave," Leon called out to her. "I'll win, I promise you. That's why... don't give in to despair."
Angelica looked at him before she averted her eyes. Was his face that scary?
From the side, Leon heard Clarice's sigh and Livia's cute groan.
"You can call me Angelica," she said shyly. "It's the least I can do for someone fighting for me."
"L-Lady Redgrave, can I also call you Angelica? I'm your student, after all!" Olivia looked at Angelica with puppy dog eyes. Ouch, Leon winced. That was a strike straight to the heart. It wouldn't take long for Angelica to concede.
"F-Fine! You can call me Angelica too," she harrumphed, looking to the other side to find Clarice grinning. "What?"
"Nothing," Clarice kept grinning at Angelica.
Wait, Leon thought. This kind of development is...
Shaking his head, Leon restrained himself. There was a chance that he was wrong. But...
Oh well, he'd prepare it himself if the situation arose.
A/N: Yeah, we're finally at the end of term party! Since Leon is focused on the Precures, he had no time to look for any wife, so only Daniel and Raymond embarrassed themselves. Leon bailed them out with a strong, graceful, and beautiful move, because the only one picking up on etiquettes aren't just Olivia. And then we get to the Angelica scene and unlike in canon, Leon did not have eye contact with her. Is it important? Not really, but in Angelica's case, nobody wanted to meet her eyes and she knew she was truly fucked. Fortunately for her, Olivia liked her teacher! Leon had to get involved to prevent her from getting attention.
Marie! As I have alluded before, Precure canon is weird so I'm taking liberties, and so OG!Leon's family lived in Mihoshi city! And OG!Marie is enrolled in Mihoshi Middle School precise around the time an alien entered the scene. If you notice, Olivia never mentioned anything about Precure, so Marie put it on the back of her mind and focused on speedrunning the capture targets. Who the fuck can assume a pink magical girl means a Precure just like how her former classmate was one?
Finally, the talk. This time, Clarice voiced her support of Leon, so he at least wasn't harrassed physically, only verbally and Leon had heard much worse in Japan. However, this had a weird consequence where somebody took advantage and made it look as if the fiancees united against Marie under Leon. I would be interested to see something like this explored further, since I am not gonna focus on this much as it is outside the scope of the fic.
