JJ stood anxiously on the beach watching Topper and John B beat each other up. The kegger had taken a turn for the worse when JJ had provoked Topper by flirting with Sarah. He honestly hadn't thought it through, he was slightly drunk. But who wasn't at this point.
JJ doesn't want to interfere with the fight going on, especially that it seems like his friend is getting the upper hand, slamming Topper into the rolling waves with a punch to the face.
Chants and yells start rising around him and JJ starts to panic, as much as the son of a bitch kook deserved a good beating, he didn't want John B to go down for the blame. He feels the comfortable weight of the gun in his hand and starts running towards the two before it's too late.
John B is stuck in a haze as he beats up a nearly unconscious Topper beneath him, who barely awake enough to stop himself from drowning. He feels a hand on his shoulder that pulls him away and he growls at it, John B goes to punch him but it is easily blocked by who is revealed to be JJ. JJ is yelling at him to calm down and stop, but John B is having none of it. He turns around to start beating up Topper again, he honestly doesn't remember why he's so mad it's just his whole body is filled with anger and hatred towards that particular kook.
"Dude stop!" JJ shouts, pulling John B away. Once he realizes that his friend won't stop, JJ looks at his fist with a pang of guilt. He punches John B right across the face, his nose starts bleeding with the impact and he falls back into the water, thankfully it's shallow enough that the waves lap against his side harmlessly. JJ feels guilty but pushes the feeling down because he sees John B trying to stand back up again and make his way to Topper, who was also struggling to drag himself back to his friend group.
"JB! Stay down man!" JJ shouts, pushing him back into the water but it clearly isn't enough for his stubborn friend. JJ throws another punch at him, which seems to work because it takes the fight out of John B, who collapses into the water panting loudly. It's quiet across the beach, the sound of waves lapping against the sand was the only thing to be heard other than the raspy breathing of both people involved in the fight that broke out.
JJ takes it all in, the group of kooks helping Topper stand who swayed dizzily once he was upright, Sarah Cameron was kissing his swollen and bruised cheek with tears running down her tanned face. His best friend John B that was lying limply in the water, soaking wet. An all the onlookers of the incident, gaping at him as an awkward silence fills the air. He catches Kie and Pope's eyes. Thank god that he didn't whip out the gun, that would've ended poorly for all of them.
JJ starts moving out of the water and starts screaming, his voice echoing and it scares the newbies away. "Get the hell of our side of the island!" Everyone starts scattering, thank god. Even the kooks, they practically carry a heavily bruised and battered Topper thought the sand, leaving red solo cups littering the beach to which he know's Kie would be pissed at.
Once everyone is gone, JJ allows himself to relax, his fists unclenching by his sides. There is distant splashing behind him and he's surprised he didn't notice both Kiara and Pope helping his friend out of the water. JJ assists them. "Sorry JB." Is heard when said friend groans and tries to lean forward in hopes of alleviating the pain in his torso.
"Didn't wanna punch you, ya know." JJ comments, a sad look adorning his face. John B nods in understanding because speaking up with a crackly voice. "It's okay Jay, I took it too far this time." Kiara can only scoff. "Yeah you did, but I'm not complaining."
John B knows the guilt running through his blond friend would be tough, combines with the fear that he's gonna end up like his father, JJ suffered to a great extent whenever he hurts someone he loves. In order to hopefully alleviate the guilt by letting JJ know that he was okay, John B ruffled the blond's hair.
A small innocent smile was the only response, but it didn't quite reach his eyes. It didn't go unnoticed by any of the Pogues.
