Chapter 80: Sins of the Son
-Castle ruins-
Loud music could be heard blaring as a bunch of teenagers used it for a party. They all just mingled and enjoyed themselves as they talked and danced the night away.
Eventually, a blonde boy with caucasian skin, brown eyes and blond hair arrived. He was wearing typical rebellious teenager clothes: white shirt, black vest, black jeans, the usual. Though it seemed kind of medieval in appearance.
As he walked in, everybody seemed to welcome him.
"Hey Lucas, how goes it, man?" One teen asked, his accent sounding like a Scottish accent.
"Change is on the horizon." Lucas replied before he went into the castle's makeshift courtyard, passing by several other teens as he did.
"Lucas, why don't you come dance with me?" A girl asked, her own voice having a Highland accent.
"I would, but I have something to take care of." The blonde replied as he continued on, going down a spiral staircase and into what seemed to be the dungeon of the ruins.
As he came across a cell in the floor, he used what looked like telepathic power to open it and jumped into it before walking up to someone who was apparently being held there. "You know what to do. The only way for it to end is to call him." He told the person, holding a phone up to them.
The younger boy then took the phone and weakly dialed a number into it–before Professor Charles Xavier picked up on the other end.
"Hello? Who is this?" The man questioned.
"F-Father… Help." The boy rasped before exhaustion caused him to fall unconscious and drop the phone.

-Bayville, the next day-
Gavin went around the Institute, looking high and low for something. He checked under beds, in rooms, in cupboards, and even on the roof by going through the chimney via smoke transformation.
As he came back down into the main parlor, Chelsea walked in with a beer in her hand.
"Lose somethin', Gav?" The blonde asked as the young man dusted off his tailor made corduroy suit of the chimney soot.
"Not something, someone." He replied. "Damian snatched my market figures, and I need those for when I go to the bank today to request a loan for an expansion of X-Tremeade's Bayville factory." He added, straightening his tie.
"Okay, Gavin, as much as we all love Damian and his mischievous nature, he really needs to get some counseling." The dragon queen sighed. It was true; as much as she enjoyed the laughs Damian could garner from her, she knew it was a matter of time before somebody complained about it.
"That's just it, Rogue and I have taken him to several therapists and had him tested multiple times." The pseudo vampire stated. "We even had Emma weigh in, and they all said the same thing: he's a six, almost seven year old with a current IQ of 200 that will probably only rise as he gets older–with a mind that goes from one thing to the next on a dime with an attention span that is just as short as he is and is constantly scheming due to the traits he gets from Mystique." He continued. "These pranks are basically one of his only outlets." He added.
"Oh, damn it. That's right." Chelsea cursed, taking a swig of her beer. "It's a little easy to forget about that detail." She added.
"You aren't the only person who said that." The young CEO told her. "But yeah, curtailing it is a good idea, before he ends up doing something he'll–." He added before…
CRASH!
BOOM!
"AAAAAH HO HO HOIII!" The voice of Kurt yelled.
"Regret." He sighed. Kurt then teleported right to him… Covered in soot with an irritated look on his face as he held Damian's hand.
Said little tyke was currently dressed in brown jeans, a white shirt, a brown bomber jacket, black boots and a red scarf with a flyers cap and goggles on his head. All things that reflected one of his favorite newer interests: world history and the Red Baron.
Seconds later Drake and Alex fell out of the chimney and landed square on Kurt's spine. All three of them were covered in ash, which made Drake start to try holding in a sneeze.
The booze loving dragon immediately took him outside, allowing him to sneeze to the open air before she brought him back inside.
"Well… At least you found him." She said awkwardly. The other two coughed and sneezed as they shook themselves off.
"Bad idea." Damian stated.
"Yeah." Alex nodded, shaking dust from his hair.
"No *snort* kidding…" Drake added sniffing up his nose after blowing it. Gavin then looked at his son sternly.
"Damian, give me my market figures." He ordered, his tone brokering no room for argument. Damian shrunk a bit under his father's gaze, and took out the financial items he'd snatched before returning them to him.
This caused Gavin to immediately feel regret for his tone, seeing Damian's scared expression–with him feeling guilty that he was scaring his son into obedience. Not wanting that to be his method.
"I'm sorry, Damian. Just… Just don't take my market figures again. Okay?" He said softly to ease his son's nerves.
"Okay." The boy nodded as the two hugged it out. The small human blueberry nuzzled into his father's arms right as Charles came into the room with Ororo, Jean and Scott in tow.
"Gavin, we–... Are we interrupting something?" Jean started to speak before noticing what was happening.
"No, we just finished. What's up?" The pseudo-vampire asked in reply, both groups failing to notice Kurt sneezing and teleporting back into his room.
"We have a situation, one that we think may require your assistance." Ororo explained.
"Okay, what is it?" Gavin questioned as he handed Damian to Chelsea.
"A rather personal situation has arisen, and I feel that I will need all the help I can get." Charles explained, causing the horror fan to raise an eyebrow.
"Where, exactly?" He questioned.
"In Scotland." The bald telepath replied.
"Aw hell." The young man groaned, facepalming. "Gimme a minute to reschedule a few things…" He sighed as he pulled out his phone.
As he walked around the corner, he bumped into Rogue, who was coming down with the flu like Kurt and Kitty.
"Ah! Oh… Hi, Gavin." She said in a nasally voice. The young man looked at his fiance and kissed her on the forehead.
"Hey, you feeling better?" Gavin questioned.
"No… I feel like a submarine crashed into me." The southern belle replied before looking away from her fiance and sneezing. "Ugh… This sucks…" She groaned as she held her head.
"I can't say I relate, healing factor and all. Sorry." The boy apologized, before he picked her up into his arms. "Come on, back to bed." He told her.
"Alright…" The goth girl yawned as she slowly fell asleep in her fiance's arms as he carried her.
(Later)
Upon leaving the Institute in the X-Jet, Gavin was filled in on the situation at hand, and now he understood why they brought him along–as this was a situation he was very familiar with at this point.
"So it's a matter of trying to fix up your family." The pseudo vampire noted, seeing what was up.
"That's certainly one way of putting it." The bald telepath nodded.
"Hey, I get it, Prof. I felt the exact same way when I found out about Damian." Gavin nodded. "It's jarring, not to mention infuriating." He added.
"Quite so. It's all the more reason for me to mend this mistake." Charles stated as they flew to Scotland.
"Man, this is nuts." Scott whispered.
"Yeah." Jean nodded.
(Meanwhile)
Back at the Institute, Kitty groaned after sneezing again before reaching for a tissue paper only to realize her box of them was empty. Groaning, she reluctantly climbed out of bed and made her way to Rogue's bed, where she was sleeping.
"Hey Rogue, you got any extra tissues?" She asked her roommate, who was mouth breathing due to not being able to properly use her nose.
"Ugh…" The goth groaned as she turned and reached for a box before sleepily tossing it at Kitty, missing and sending it to her bed instead.
"Thanks." The girl said before she went back to her bed and blew her nose one more time before going to bed.
And at Rogue's bed, Damian came into the room with his shirt pulled over his nose and mouth, and oven mitts on his hands–Drake waddling beside him in dragon form with a tray of tea, a bowl of egg drop soup, and chicken wonton dumplings in his jaws.
As the two stopped in front of the redhead's bed, Drake sat down and stayed still while Damian took the tray out of his friend's mouth and slowly and carefully set it on his mother's night stand.
"Get well soon, mommy." The little blueberry said softly before he and Drake left to take care of Kurt next.

Back with the five man team of Xavier, Ororo, Scott, Jean and Gavin, they arrived at the Scottish manor of Charles's ex wife: Gabrielle Haller.
"Deja vu all over again…" The pseudo vampire noted as they stepped onto the front porch.
"I bet." Scott remarked as the bald telepath rang the doorbell, prompting a woman who looked to be in her forties to answer.
"Charles–." The woman said as she met them on the porch, only for Charles to cut her off as he rolled past her.
"How long has David been missing? Do you have a list of his friends or people he talks to? We need as many leads as we can get." The man said, not turning towards her.
Gavin sighed as he faced Gabrielle. "Sorry about him, he's just worried." He told her. "And also rather–understandably–upset, having just found out that he has a son he never met or knew about." He continued rather pointedly, cluing the woman in that he must have experience with the same thing.
"We only just moved here, so David didn't have any friends. Not yet." Gabrielle sighed. "He hardly ever left home, either." She added, tears rolling down her face. "And… It was honestly a big mistake to not say anything." She continued, conceding to Gavin's point.
"Then we have no leads, damn." The telepath sighed. Meanwhile, Gavin decided to continue conversing with Gabrielle.
"I'm sensing that there's more to the reason why you kept David a secret. Does it have to do with the reason why you and the prof split up" He asked as Jean, Scott and Ororo started looking for clues.
The woman could only nod in reply, which prompted him to press further–gently–of course.
"Then why did you guys separate in the first place? It could help us figure out David's state of mind before he got abducted." The pseudo-vampire questioned.
"He was… He was anxious, distant… segmented, almost. Like the David I was talking to wasn't how he really felt deep down." The woman told him. "I don't know how I know, I just do."
"And why did you and the prof separate? Because something tells me that if he had a dad around, this could possibly have been avoided." Gavin asked. Gabrielle sighed as she recalled the cause of the separation.
"He was more focused on helping other mutants than his own family. I barely saw him, and I couldn't take it anymore and ended things between us." She explained, causing Gavin to frown.
"And you never told him of the son he had? Why?" He questioned further.
"To save him from the fate of having a father who didn't have time for him." She responded. Gavin shook his head at the woman's ignorant words.
"Bullshit. The prof never lets his work keep him from helping others." He stated. "You should have given him a chance, he could have surprised you both." He added as he walked away to try and assist the others.
The mother could only sigh in regret. The truth hurts, as the saying goes.
(Meanwhile)
"Ugh. Remind me to never disappear. I don't want anyone going through my stuff like this." Scott remarked as he looked through a shelf full of what he presumed were snow globes.
"Why? Got something to hide?" Jean teased as they continued looking around.
"Well, no. But still." The boy responded, continuing his search.
"Jesus, Summers, why don't you do us all a favor and grow a pair, will ya?" Gavin snapped as he looked under David's bed.
Jean was about to scold him before she spotted a little boy with blonde hair standing in the open door.
"Who are you?" The redhead asked as she walked toward the door, only for the kid to run off. "Hey, wait!" She called as she ran out into the hall, only to see that he had vanished.
"Did you see someone?" Scott asked as he and Gavin came up behind her.
"I thought that I saw a little boy just now." She told them.
"Yeah, well I think I just found something that could shed some light on this whole situation." Gavin said, holding up a journal.
"Okay, that should help. Open it up and let's see what's inside." Scott urged. As much as Gavin wanted to snap at him, he shrugged it off in favor of making this whole thing go faster.
"That was Ian, by the way. We adopted him a few years ago, he doesn't really talk much." Gabrielle told them as they gathered in the living room with the journal.
Opening it, they started flipping through it and they took note of something rather odd. For one, the journal seemed to be written in three different writing styles and handwriting–implying that three different people were writing in the thing.
The first set was obviously David's, who had a pretty agreeable tone of writing in a script that resembled a hybrid of cursive and print. In fact, it implied a personality not unlike a younger Charles.
The second was much more hip in nature and was written in a grinding and punk-like print, implying that the person was probably a punk-goth with an arrogant, flamboyant and playboyish persona.
And the third looked like that of an eight year old, with wording and penmanship to match–something Gavin knew quite well. The writings seemed to portray a fiercely loyal and fiery individual who wasn't much for talking, or was mute.
As they continued to look at the book, Gavin decided to weigh in his personal hypothesis.
"It looks to me that David has split personality disorder. There are three different writing styles here, and all of them share different perspectives." He noted.
"I'm inclined to agree, there's no mistaking it." Ororo nodded.
"What? But that's impossible! He's never switched to being someone different at all." Gabrielle stated incredulously. "And even if he did, what could have caused it?" She questioned.
"I may have one idea." The pseudo-vampire said, looking at the bald telepath who was looking through the book. "Prof, does it say anything about these people developing any powers?" He asked.
"It does, actually. There is a mention of him developing telepathic powers that were so strong his mind fractured, and one individual became three." The telepathic man replied. "The first having chronokinesis and incredible strength as well as speed, the second having the powerful telepathy and telekinesis, and the third having pyrokinetic powers." He added.
"Three personalities, three different powers. Great." Gavin grunted.
This revelation made Gabrielle gasp in horror as the reality of what could be happening to her son settled in. However, before anything else could be said, Scott noticed that Jean was gone.
"Wait, where's Jean?" He wondered as he got up to look for his girlfriend. The others noticed her absence and got up to help search for her.
(Meanwhile)
Jean groaned as she woke up and took in her surroundings, finding metal cuffs restraining her hands and feet in metal cuffs in the midst of a bunch of partying teens. She had gone outside searching for Ian, hoping to talk to him and got ambushed by a boy that managed to knock her out with a telepathic blast. With just a thought, she got the cuffs off and stood up.
"I was about to take those off for you." A voice commented, prompting the redhead to turn and spot the one that basically kidnapped her.
"You're making a big mistake, when the others get here–they'll clobber you." She warned her attacker.
"Ha ha! Oh, I'd love to see them try." The telepath laughed.
"Who said they'll be trying?" Jean retorted, knowing that Gavin wouldn't break much of a sweat with someone like the guy in front of her.
"Someone's cocky, aren't they?" The blonde growled as he was about to attack her again with a psychic blast, but a familiar red eye beam knocked him out of the way.
"Stay away from my girl!" Scott barked as he marched up to the scene.
"Nice of you to join, Scott." Jean smirked before she got serious. "Listen, he's got telepathic powers, so you're not going to be able to fight him effectively." She told him. "And before you say anything, they were strong enough to knock me out." She continued upon seeing him getting ready to protest.
"That's pretty strong, wait… a telepath? Oh jeez." Scott said as he started putting things together. "This guy must be one of David's other personalities." He noted.
"Aw, you figured it out already. That's no fun." Lucas pretended to complain before he smirked. "I'm guessing you're the party crasher." He said before he used his powers to fling Scott into a wall. He would've done so again, had Jean not sent a psychic blast at him and sent him into a wall.
"Don't even fucking think of trying to use him as a toy!" She hissed with an angry glare as she hovered.
"Well, you're certainly intimidating when you're angry." A voice noted as smoke gathered around them and Gavin materialized out of it. Drawing his two pistols, he pointed them at Lucas.
"I think you're better off without those toys." Lucas commented as he sent Gavin flying back, the force making him drop his pistols as he crashed into a wall behind him.
But instead of being incapacitated, the pseudo vampire just turned into smoke again and then flashed towards the telepath, and moved to cut off the blonde's head with the freshly drawn Bloodfallen. This was, surprisingly, thwarted by a psychic shield that the blonde surrounded himself in like an aura.
This did little to deter Gavin, however, since he still had other ways to fight. Taking a deep breath, he started inhaling Lucas's life force in an attempt to weaken him, and then decided to try kneeing the guy between the legs–to which the man didn't even flinch at.
"Really? How boring." Lucas deadpanned before he used his telekinesis to throw Gavin back. He did so several times, causing him some rather severe injuries in the process with no signs of slowing down.
Lucas groaned in aggravation at the boy's persistence as Scott tried blasting him again with Jean holding him down, but he blew them back once more as Xavier and Ororo came to their aid, with Ian and David with them.
"Perfect, the gang's all here." Lucas grinned as he held Gavin in the air in a telekinetic force choke hold–keeping him from escaping the same way.
"Lucas, stop!" Charles exclaimed. "This isn't you! This is the result of your powers!" He continued.
"Oh I know, daddy, and I like it! All I need is for my other halves to be brought to me so I can take their powers–and I'll be set!" The blonde retorted, tightening his grip on Gavin. "And you're going to help me with that." He added. "Or, I turn the sharp dresser here into a red clad vegetable. Your choice, pops."
"You expect me to willingly make you stronger? I think not." Charles shot back with narrowed eyes. 'I'm sorry, Gavin.' He said mentally to the young CEO.
'I'll be fine. Don't worry.' Gavin replied through the link. Lucas growled before he turned to him.
"I warned you." He said before he started blasting Gavin's mind with psychic energy, causing the boy's eyes and nose to start bleeding as his body started convulsing–his brain feeling like it was being put through a blender, poured in a paint can, and then shaken at the highest setting.
Then his body ceased to move and Lucas gave Charles a smug smirk.
"Well, that was the most heartless thing you've ever done." He taunted. "How do you even sleep at night?" He questioned. Unknown to the personality fragment, he just made a monumental mistake.
When he fucked up Gavin's mind, all of his personality aspects were freed from the mental gates within and mixed back together, becoming a complete personality. When the process was complete, his eyes snapped open and he rose up in a corpse position like a vampire would.
"The bird of Hermès is my name." The boy said in a much more mature tone of voice, sounding a bit like Devin–almost. "Eating my own wings to keep me tame." He intoned as his body started becoming surrounded not by smoke–but by darkness, pure, unadulterated darkness–Dark Matter.
It honestly looked like the Darkness of the DarkDark fruit from One Piece. As this happened, the DJ station in the distance suddenly switched on to another song as people bumped into it trying to get away. The song being "Sanctified by Dynamite" by Powerwolf as church-like chanting filled the air.
"Impossible… IMPOSSIBLE!" Lucas yelled in disbelief as he looked at Gavin's armored form. "You're supposed to be a vegetable!" He continued to yell. Gavin simply started examining his hand before he smirked, like Dracula did when he saw Trevor Belmont in Castlevania.
"Well well, Lucas. It seems that you've failed to 'destroy' me quite spectacularly." He noted.
"What…? How?" The blonde sputtered.
"Allow me to explain. Not only did you not destroy my mind, but you've actually merged my psyche back into one piece, and you've allowed me…" The pseudo-vampire said as he started conjuring up darkness more darkness. "To achieve the fullest potential of my powers." He finished with a grin.
"And you seem to be in full control of yourself. Would I be correct in assuming you won't be needing those mental gates anymore?" Charles asked.
"On my powers? For everyone's safety I believe the answer should be yes." Gavin nodded. "I'm only at twenty five percent right now and I feel like one wrong move could cause me to involuntarily create a black hole." He added as he clenched a darkness cloaked fist.
"No… NO! I refuse to play second fiddle to some wannabe Dracula!" Lucas exclaimed defiantly as he fired a psychic blast at Gavin, who merely shrugged it off and charged at him.
Lucas responded by taking several sizable boulders and sending them flying at Gavin with the speed of missiles, causing them to ignite mid flight. The overcharged mutant CEO dodged every single one with zero effort, which served to make the teenage blonde angrier.
He charged at Gavin, and sent a stronger psychic blast at him through a double kick, and followed up with bringing what he could down onto him, hoping he would stay buried.
However this wasn't the case, as Gavin created two black holes in his palms and sucked up the matter, shrugging off the rubble like he didn't even notice it, before slugging Lucas so hard that he was blown back into David and Ian–who then started fading and going back into him.
The pseudo vampire then followed this up with a dark matter blast, which Lucas barely blocked with a psychic shield. The blonde then yelled angrily as he flew at Gavin and then pinned his arm down with a spin kick and then nailed the CEO with a sledgehammer of psychic energy.
Gavin was then sent staggering back as he felt something dripping down his cheek from his forehead–which he wiped off with his hand, noticing what it was and chuckled.
"All of that for a drop of blood?" He mused as the wound instantly healed. Lucas roared and was about to attack again, but David managed to take control for the moment.
"Some, please! Help!" David begged desperately and mentally.
This made the blonde momentarily lock up, allowing Gavin to start pummeling him with a dark matter cloaked fist blow to the face after the other, before he picked Lucas up and charged a black hole gut punch, which sent him crashing into a wall.
The telepath then started taking Ian into himself and then used the other fragment's pyrokinetic powers to send beams of blazing fire plasma at Gavin, who just walked through it, blocking it with the palm of his hand as he approached his foe.
He then grabbed onto Lucas' hand, forcing the beams to stop as the blonde looked at him in total fear. He was completely powerless in the face of this impossible being.
"What… What the hell are you?" The blonde uttered shakily.
"The strongest mutant on Earth." Gavin replied before sucker punching him hard in the gut. As the telepath fell to the ground again, the pseudo vampire grinned as he crossed his arms. "Now, Lucas, for helping me become whole again, I'll grant you a glimpse of my strongest attack yet–A glimpse that will be your last." He continued as he raised his hand, and created a massive ball of darkness, like a black hole that was in sphere form in his palm.
"Behold, the Demonic Megiddo!" He bellowed as he then slammed the giant ball down on Lucas, with Ororo and Jean just managing to get Scott, Charles and Gabrielle out of the way. All of them were shocked and dumbfounded at Gavin's change in power and attitude.
"Wh-what is he?!" Gabrielle stammered.
"Someone strong enough to rival gods." Charles replied.
"If this is him at 25%, then 100% is going to be legit scary." Scott gulped as the dark orb caused an explosion that imploded a good chunk of the island and sent Lucas crashing onto the ground–unconscious.
"And that's that." Gavin said as he landed in front of everyone, his armor dissolving and leaving him in his clothes. "He's all yours Professor, you should be able to help fix him with little…" He continued as he kicked Lucas in the side, making him lurch. "Resistance." He added.
"Yes… I think this should be a rather simple affair." Charles breathed as he tried to calm his nerves from the massive show of power he just witnessed. He then concentrated and began to set about repairing David's mind, and like Gavin said, there was little to no resistance.
However, it would seem that there was an unfortunate consequence of David waking up with his body still being like Lucas's. Meaning that there were some things that even Xavier was unfortunately unable to fix. Still, he was able to help his son in some way. After he was done, he left his son's mind.
"Is it done?" Gabrielle asked hopefully.
"Yes, however, due to things that are out of my control, David will be stuck with Lucas' body for the rest of his life. But he's still the David you know, otherwise." Charles replied.
"Honestly, I think it'll do him more benefit than harm." Gavin shrugged. "Nice boys with good looks tend to be fairly popular after all." He added as he turned around. "I'll be in the jet if you need me." He continued as he walked away.
Scott and Jean looked at each other, then at Ororo and then at the three estranged family members. Sensing that they probably needed time alone, Jean dragged the other two with her.
"We'll join you." She said, leaving the other three alone. Xavier sighed as he telekinetically propped David against a tree to let him rest, before turning to Gabrielle.
"Gabrielle, I know it's been years but, after all that's happened, I think it's time we had a serious talk." The man said.
"Yes… I think so, too." Gabrielle nodded in agreement. She really hoped she could mend the bridge between her and her ex-husband.
(Later)
Finally back at the Institute, everyone made it back in, allowing them to finally relax. Gavin, in particular, was going to check on how Rogue was doing.
And upon entering the room, he saw Lance on Kitty's bed, letting her use him as a pillow as she slept, and he saw that Kurt was in a sleeping bag on the middle of the floor, also fast asleep.
But what really made him smile was the sight of Rogue in her bed, with Damian hugging her in his sleep, with an empty tray of food on the nightstand.
"Now that is absolutely precious." He whispered to himself with a smile as he walked over to Rogue's bedside and gave her a kiss on the forehead, which made her smile in her sleep. "Pleasant dreams, my sweet Anne Marie." He said as he rubbed her head and did the same for Damian. "The same to you, my greatest creation." He smiled before picking them both up and going to his own room, where he tucked them in for the night.
Upon entering, he quickly changed into his sleepwear and was then greeted by Brownie. Gavin smiled as he gave his little bat buddy some head scratches, causing him to let out happy bat noises.
"This is a good way to end the day." He smiled as he then went into his coffin styled king sized bed with his family, and went to sleep with them.
It was definitely something worthwhile after such a long day.
Dragon Emperor0: And there we are, the next chapter of Vampyr is finished. That's one story we can cross off our list. Ha Ha Ha!... little bit of a Count reference there.
ThermalsniperN7: Right… Anyway, Lucas fucked up hardcore and instead of turning Gavin into a vegetable, he mixed all his personality aspects together cuz he was a reckless teen. Not much of a surprise, given who did it.
Dragon Emperor0: And now Gavin is rather different now, in power and personality. Wonder how that'll affect things with the others? Only time will tell, I guess… Anyway, see you all next time.
