After defeating the thief, Joker made the executive decision to go home for the day, since traveling across the desert had taken all of their planned time. When they emerged from the Metaverse, the sun was already setting in the sky. Izuku sighed; he'd only planned to take the morning off for the Metaverse, not the entire day! Now he was behind on cleaning the beach. He'd have to squeeze a few hours into the evenings if this was going to keep up. Usually Izuku didn't try to clean after the sun set—it was dangerous and those hours were reserved for school work—but with summer now upon them and Futaba's Palace only just beginning, it would be okay—

Akira stopped him from going to the train station. "Where are you going?"

"Home? I need to work out."

The group balked. "Dude, we just got out of the Metaverse. You should be exhausted!" Sakamoto said.

"I'm used to feeling exhausted. Plus, I have a schedule to keep."

"Yeah, no." Sakamoto joined Akira in pulling him away from the train station and to LeBlanc. "I'm an athlete. If you work out too much without giving your muscles time to relax, you'll hurt yourself. You're taking a break, end of story." They pushed open the doors of LeBlanc, the bell ringing cheerfully above them. "Hey, Boss! Get some food into this guy, quick!"

Sojiro peered at them from over his glasses. "What are you all doing together?"

The café was empty, so Izuku took a seat at the bar, with the rest of the Phantom Thieves filed in either at the bar next to him or in a booth. "Futaba reached out to them. Saw my texts to Akira on my phone and she wanted to meet them."

"What!?" Boss nearly dropped a glass.

"That was my reaction!" Izuku said. "But she wanted to be introduced so I took them over to your house. She didn't open the door, but…"

"This is great news!" He'd never seen Boss smiled so wide before. "Dinner's on me tonight, everyone. As thanks for helping Futaba."

Izuku tried to protest. "I-I really can't. My diet—"

Sakamoto wrapped an arm around his neck. "Oh, no. One day isn't going to hurt in the long run. 'sides, nothing feels better than breaking your diet after doing some hard work. It's a reward!"

"Well…" It was getting late, after all. And he didn't want to travel back home on an empty stomach. "It's only curry. It's not like I'm eating a ton of pastries or something…"

"Hey! What's wrong with pastries!?"

Dinner was good, jovial and chaotic. He only ever had calm dinners with his mom, and the less said about school lunches, the better. Halfway through dinner, his phone rang.

The screen read "Yagi-sensei."

It's not like he could label All Might's contact information as All Might, not with how often Futaba went snooping through his phone. So he'd asked All Might for a codename to use for his contact information. Izuku still wasn't sure what Yagi apparently meant to All Might; it just seemed like a normal name. Although, maybe that was the point? Either way, it gave him something to call All Might when he was in a crowd like he was then.

He answered the phone. "Yagi-sensei! How are you tonight?"

"I'm doing well, Young Midoriya!" The hero said with a laugh. "I'm just checking in on you during your day off! You're not overdoing it, are you? After you collapsed again…"

Izuku rubbed the back of his neck. "I've been taking it easy," he lied. "I'll be ready to go back to work tomorrow."

Takamaki was looking at him funny. "Is that a school teacher? Calling you during the summer?" she asked.

"No, he's my trainer for the hero exam."

"Young Midoriya?"

"Sorry, I'm with some friends right now."

"That's your trainer?" Akira asked. "Give me the phone, I want to talk to him."

"What—!?" Izuku barely dodged Akira's hand, trying to steal his phone. "Hey, stop it—!"

Akira yoinked it out of his hand. "Yagi, right?" he spoke into the phone. "The one who gave Izuku that… exercise plan of his?" No one could hear All Might's response, but Akira's eyes narrowed. "I'm a concerned friend. Izuku is training to be a hero, yet your training hasn't included any martial arts, right? It's all weight lifting?"

Izuku tried to steal the phone back, but Akira danced out of his reach.

"You seem to be under the assumption that strength is all Izuku will need to be a hero." Whatever All Might said, Akira didn't like. "True, it is a hero school's job to teach self-defense. But aren't you a trainer? Shouldn't you cover martial arts instead of just making Izuku lift weights all day?" Another pause. "Okay, so he's cleaning a beach. My question still stands."

Nijima looked up from her book. "Cleaning a beach?"

"People have been dumping trash there for years," Izuku explained, still trying to retrieve his phone. Akira fended him off with one hand. "It's weight training and community service."

"Community service?" Takamaki nudged Akira. "Ask that guy if you can join! You still need more hours for your community service, right?"

Akira nodded, but addressed All Might. "You leave him alone there? That doesn't sound particularly safe. What if someone tries to abduct him? Or a pile of trash falls on him?" A pause. "No, I've already decided. Me and my friends are coming over tomorrow to talk with you about this… I have every right. Izuku is my friend, and you're a stranger. Does Midoriya-san even know that you're training her son?"

Finally, Izuku grabbed the phone back. He shot a glare at Akira. "Yagi-sensei, I'm so sorry about him! Akira has just be paranoid lately. Don't worry, I won't let them come tomorrow—"

All Might interrupted him. "No, Young Midoriya, I'm sorry. Your friend has a point; there is so much more you need to learn to become a hero and I was too focused on strength training for… other reasons. But you deserve more than just that, and certainly more of my time. Inform… Akira-kun, was it? Inform Akira-kun and your friends that they are welcome to visit tomorrow, and any day after that so long as they don't slow down your training."

"I—Thank you, Yagi-sensei."

"You're welcome. Have a good evening. I'll see you tomorrow morning."

Ending the call, Izuku frowned at Akira. "Well, you're invited. You didn't have to do that!"

"I worry. You've never mentioned Yagi before and I don't want you taken advantage of." Akira brought out his phone. "By the way, what was Yagi's first name again?"

Izuku choked.
