Previously, Leif's Leg!
The blonde boy screamed out in pain. He was on the ground holding his left ankle. Skippy got up from his position and got right next to his friend. Leif was biting his lip as he tried to move his leg, for a second, he tried to get up.
"Leif! Are you okay?" Skippy shouted.
Leif winced in pain as he tried to get up. "I think I sprained my ankle," he said, through gritted teeth. He was clutching his ankle, and it looked swollen and red. Skippy could see the pain etched on Leif's face as he tried to put weight on his injured leg.
Skippy felt a mix of emotions, fear, guilt, and concern for his friend. He had a hard time processing what had just happened. He couldn't even move his body for a time, he saw his friend in pain, even showing tears. When the shock wore off, he ran inside to get his mom. She had helped get Leif on the deck in a deck chair with another chair being used to elevate his ankle. Then she had gone inside to get ready to take him to the doctor and call his parents. Skippy was still outside, helping to clean up his friend.
Skippy helped Leif over to a nearby lawn chair, where he sat down and tried to elevate his ankle. "That's not good," he said, looking at the swelling and redness on Leif's ankle.
"I'm sorry, Skippy, you were right, we shouldn't have tried that move" Leif said, looking down at the ground. "And now, I won't be able to compete in the mud wrestling contest with you now."
Skippy felt guilty for pushing Leif to try the new move, he should have listened to him. He shook his head, "Forget that for now, I just want you to be alright!" He patted his friend's shoulder, then wiped away his own tears. Skippy felt a tear roll down his cheek.
The doctor had confirmed that Leif had a sprained ankle, and he was given crutches and instructed to rest for a few days. Leif sat on the couch in the living room at his house, his injured ankle propped up on a pillow. He was cleaned up and wearing denim shorts and a white tank top. Skippy sat next to him, wearing black bike shorts and a dark blue tank top. both looking dejected. They had been looking forward to competing in the local mud wrestling contest together.
"You can still compete without me," Leif said, "You just won't be able to do the tag team competitions."
"But, you're my best friend and the I was only doing it for fun…" Skippy frowned, "And it's fun with you."
Leif smiled and chuckled. He patted his friend's back. "Skip, I think you should still compete, you practiced hard."
Skippy looked down, "I shouldn't have changed my mind and made sure you didn't do that new move," his voice getting low.
"It was an accident, I slipped, if anything, I should've listened to you when you were nervous," Leif replied, "But, it doesn't matter, I'm going to get better, and I think you should compete!"
The blonde boy looked at his ankle, it was kind of a shade of purple. The swelling was still there an ice pack laying on it.
"It looks cool," Leif said.
"I wonder if it will change colors," Skippy said, his eyes wide.
"I hope so."
"How much does it hurt?" Skippy asked with some concern.
"Not as bad as it did at first, but it does hurt."
"Probably worse than that time I fell off my bike onto the sidewalk, after going fast."
"That wipe-out did look painful."
Skippy was sitting next to the couch arm, Leif was sitting up with his back on the same arm of it. The first boy was still wondering if he should really go and compete without his best friend. The decision had to be a quick one, as there were only four days left.
"It's going to be hard to practice without someone," Skippy thought up an excuse to say.
"Hmm, that's right, but you can still practice your moves. I can still watch you and coach you," Leif said.
"Wouldn't that be worse? You'd really want to be in the mud," Skippy said.
Leif sighed; the other boy was right. He could also tell that Skippy was losing the will to even want to compete, and he really thought Skippy should still do it. "Skippy, we're a team, right?"
"Yeah, duh, but what does that have to do with... "
"I know! Lexx! He looks just like me. He could take my place in the contest," Leif said, mentioning his twin brother's name.
Skippy glared at the other boy; he couldn't believe what he just heard. If he heard right, Leif had just mentioned Lexx, his younger twin brother. Lexx and Leif were identical twin boys, but the word identical is stretching it. Lexx also had blonde hair, he didn't wear caps, but sometimes wore a toy plastic crown on his head. He didn't have constant hat hair like Leif, and he styled his hair to sweep over part of his forehead and poke up. He was about the same height as Leif, but they would fight over centimeters.
The main difference between the two was how they just were. Lexx didn't like being dirty, he didn't mind taking baths, he did clothes modeling for major stores in the town. Neatness was important to him. He was sometimes arrogant, demanding, and could even strike fear in the older siblings in the family. He was prim and proper, he used manners and liked formality. This would also mean he'd host tea parties with his stuffed animals or a sibling he could convince to join him. He sometimes would play prince, along with that crown he'd also add a pink cape. That didn't mean he wasn't tough; he and Leif could get physical in their fights. That also doesn't mean he and twin didn't like each other, quite the opposite. They had their strong twin bond, they would talk to each other, play games, team up to do things, or if there was something they wanted.
"Are you sure you didn't hit your head?" Skippy questioned.
Leif moved his baseball cap up and down with his right hand and bit his lip for a moment, "I know, but, uh, well, you've seen Lexx and I get into a fight before, he's tough!"
"He hates mud and getting dirty!" Skippy intently glared at Leif.
"We need a plan B," Leif said, shrugging.
The brown-haired boy got up to feel Leif's forehead, before Leif tickled him in the stomach.
"Well, you don't have a fever, so, I think you hit your head, of they gave you some strange medicine," Skippy replied.
"I would suggest Lynn, but he's heavier than you, and well you know Lynn," Leif said.
"But Lexx?" Skippy questioned pacing back and forth, he flung his arms up.
Leif winced as he shifted his leg, and he turned his attention to his best friend.
"I know, I know, but he's our only option. We're the same weight, we have the same body type, and it would be prefect for you to have as a tag team!"
"Woah, woah! You aren't even talking about practicing with him, you want him to compete?!" Skippy yowled.
Leif frowned and started looking down at his hands and not at Skippy. "I'm sorry, I feel bad, if I hadn't tried that stupid move, we'd be in your backyard, in our underwear, covered head to toe with mud right now," he said, "But I saw you, you were having fun and I know you want to compete still."
"It's your fault either, it's something that happened, Dude," Skippy said, "If it had worked, then it would have been amazing!"
The blonde boy smiled, "I just thought if Lexx did it with you, you'd still want to do it, and he might do well because of his competitive nature."
"Even so, it's not like he'll want to do it," Skippy said.
"Hmm," Leif replied, "Ya knows, he does owe me some favors, I think it would be good to call one in."
Leif got on his crutches with Skippy following behind him. The blonde boy worked to get some balance, since the doctor told him not put weight on the left foot. As they made it to the staircase, Leif let out breath. He carefully placed one crutch on the first step and then lifted his injured leg up to meet it. He repeated the process with the other crutch and leg and slowly went up the stairs. He knew Skippy was following him.
"Do you think you'll catch me If I fall or, are you going to be my cushion?" he joked.
Skippy groaned but was pleased that his friend didn't lose his humor. Eventually, Leif made it to the top. When they both were upstairs, they walked to the room that Lexx and Leif shared.
The room was divided into halves the window on the back wall was a good bifurcation line. The left side was Leif's, and the right was Lexx's. Lexx was sitting at a small brown table, with a couple of stuff animals sitting with him. He had a tea set that was light blue with small light blue cups. He was wearing black dress shorts with a pink belt, with white polo shirt, pink belt, and black loafers. He looked over when he noticed his brother and brother's best friend in the room.
"You've made it up the stairs," Lexx said with a smile.
"Yeah," Leif said.
Lexx could tell by his brother's face this wasn't just Leif coming into their room- he wanted something.
"Hey, what's up?" Lexx asked.
Leif looked at his best friend and winked he said to Lexx, "Hey, umm, Lexx shouldn't you offer your guest, 'specially an injured one a seat?" he asked.
"Sure, you can sit on the bed, and I'll bring you over a chair for your leg," Lexx replied.
Lexx got up from his small chair whilst Leif walked over to Lexx's bed and sat on the light pink comforter. Lexx picked up a folding chair that was in the room and brought it over for Leif to put his leg on. Then he sat back down. Skippy refused a chair and stayed standing. He was curious to see what was going to happen.
"So, what do you want?" Lexx asked.
"Well, since I'm injured, I can't do the mud wrestling competition," Leif started, "But, Skip here, still can compete." The boy frowned and Skippy frowned, "But we have a problem," Leif continued, "Skip here, needs someone to be his partner, and we need someone who is competitive, a quick learner, weights about the same as I do and maybe looks like me."
Lexx wasn't an idiot, he knew what Leif was getting at, "Did you hit your head too? I am not going to participate in your groady mud wrestling," he answered.
"Please Lexx, it would mean a lot to us. We've been practicing for weeks and we don't want it to go to waste," Skippy said, Showing that he was still willing to go on with the competition.
The younger twin stood up and pounded his right fist on the table causing a cup to tip over. "No!"
Leif adjusted his cap, "You do owe me some favors, you know?"
Lexx stomped his foot, "I'm not doing it!"
"Come on, Lexx, you do owe me a few favors, I want to cash one in, in fact, remember that time you wanted to model, and they needed a twins and you needed me, and you said you'll owe me? Well…" Leif said.
Lexx sat back down and banged his fist again, but this time letting out a defeated groan. "Come on, I don't even know how to mud wrestle."
"I-I'll show you," Skippy said, "We have maybe 3 days."
"Please Lexx, I'll make it worth your while. When I get better, I'll have tea parties with you without winning and you can pick the outfits for you to wear me to wear at the teach parties for a month," Leif offered.
Lexx let out an exasperated sigh, he couldn't believe it, but he was going to say it, "Fine, I'll do it, but you have keep your end of the bargain and cannot, I repeat, cannot use another favor from me for at least a month."
"Deal!" Leif cheered, he was going to spit in his hand to shake but stopped himself and held his hand out for Lexx to shake.
When the agreement was done, Skippy and Leif high fived.
AN: I've always wanted to see what I could do with Lexx as a character. It's a bit easier than Leif in some ways, but also harder. I kind though have him a bit of Lola likeness in him, but maybe more toned down. Then have this story take him out of his comfort zone. That's kind of the fun thing to work with the genderbent Louds how to make them a little different from the episode they were in, and their main characters, but use some essence of the girls in them.
