The next day. The team headed to the office. They all got settled in. Lorelai went and grabbed herself a coffee. Alex came over to the coffee kiosk as well to get something.

"I hear you and Spencer have been spending time together," Alex told her

Lorelai chuckled. "Did you not know we dated before? For over a year."

Alex shook her head. "No. I didn't. No one ever mentioned it. But it explains a lot."

Lorelai tilted her head.

"I noticed some tension when I first started working here. Then Maeve was brought up. I saw the look of. Um. Jealous. And when you talked about Wren. I saw the same look on Spencer's face." Alex said

Lorelai looked down and nodded.

"What happened? Why did you break up?" Alex asked

Lorelai took a breath. "I. Um." She sighed. "I took too many risks. Ignored orders from the team lead more than once. Spencer. Got scared. Understandably. Told me I had to promise not to take unnecessary risks anymore and I couldn't do it at the time. He broke up with me."

"Oh. Yeah, I heard about some of the risks you took." Alex said

Lorelai nodded. "The last time I did it. That is when he broke up with me and I got put on desk work for six months. I was just coming off those six months when you came to work here."

Alex nodded. "I take it you made that promise if you two are back together?"

Lorelai nodded. "Yup."

Alex smiled "Take it this relationship has been approved?"

Lorelai chuckled and nodded. "As long as work isn't affected it's not an issue."

That's when both their phones went off with a text. they were called into the conference room to discuss the newest case before they headed to the jet to head to Nevada. This case was a string of murders. The victims didn't seem to have anything in common other than how they were murdered.

On the Jet, Spencer called his mother and told her they were going to be in the area and that he would come and visit her. When he hung up he looked over at Lorelai. "You know. You have yet to meet my mother." He pointed out

Lorelai nodded. "No. I haven't. I was leaving it up to you to decide when was best. I wouldn't want to cause any issues."

Spencer shook his head. "She knows about you. She wants to meet you. I don't think that it would be a problem."

Lorelai smiled. "So, you've talked about me?"

"Of course. You are very important to me." He said with a smile

"Well. I of course want to meet her too." Lorelai said

"Well, I will talk to her make sure she is up for it and make it happen," Spencer told her. "After the case."

Lorelai nodded in agreement. When they landed they headed to the police station.

They got to work. They were getting a lot of leads and following them, but nothing was panning out. They had delivered the profile before Hotch gave everyone their assignments.

Lorelai was at the station. She was working with Garcia on some potential unsubs. They weren't getting much.

"Sorry. I've got nothing." Penelope said sounding upset

"Hey, Garcia it's okay. There are a lot of dead ends in this case. Lorelai told her "But I know my favorite tech analyst can find us something." She said with a smile

"And I know my favorite mini-agent will kick ass and take names," Garcia said.

"You know if anyone else called me Mini I would kick THEIR asses," Lorelai said with a chuckle

"Awe. I feel special." Garcia said

Lorelai chuckled. "Well, you are. You're one of my best friends."

"Okay. You're going to make me cry and I can't work and cry." Garcia said

"Okay. Well, then get back to work and I shall too." Lorelai said before they ended the call

Before long they did have a lead that took them somewhere and they were able to bring their unsub down and to the station. And it wasn't long that he was in the interrogation with Morgan & Blake that the man broke and confessed. Told his sob story but it didn't matter he was taken into custody by local law enforcement.

Everyone did their paperwork before Spencer looked at Hotch and Hotch nodded. "Go. See you mother. And take that one with you." He said indication to Lorelai

Lorelai and Spencer got up and went to the home his mother lives in.

When they got there they were signed in and Spencer led Lorelai to the dayroom where they were told his mother was.

"Hey, Mom," Spencer said.

"Spencer. How are you?" She asked

"I'm good. Mother. This is Lorelai. Lorelai this is my mother Diana Reid." Spencer said

"Hello, Ms. Reid," Lorelai said extending her hand out.

Diana smiled. "You can call me Diana. My son has talked a great deal about you." She told her as she reached and shook the younger woman's hand

Lorelai smiled. "He talks about you too."

Diana smiled "I'm glad we finally get to meet."

"Me too," Lorelai said.

Spencer and Lorelai sat down, and they talked.

"Spencer has told me that you didn't have the easiest childhood," Diana said

"Mother. We don't need to talk about that." Spencer said

"It's okay Spence. No. I didn't. But I wouldn't be where I was if I didn't have the childhood I had." Lorelai said

Diana nodded. "He also tells me that if you two were in an intelligence contest he doesn't know if he would win."

Lorelai chuckled. "Oh. I'm sure he would. I'm by no means saying I'm not smart but I don't doubt he is smarter than me."

"I don't know about that," Spencer said with a smile.

"Well, I'm glad my son has someone who he thinks can keep up with him intellectually," Diana said.

Lorelai smiled and nodded.

"And someone who makes him happy," Diana said

Spencer nodded. "She does mom."

"Are you introducing her to me now because something has changed in your relationship?" Diana asked

Lorelai bit the inside of her cheek to keep from laughing when she saw how red Spencer got.

"No mother." He said

"I'm sorry Spencer but you have been talking about her for years then you stopped for over a year and now you're talking about her again and I never got to meet her until now. Is it strange that I'm thinking that?" Diana asked her son

"Years huh?" Lorelai asked with a smirk

"No not strange I suppose. We had broken up for a year. But we got back together recently. I guess that is the change. And yes Lorelai. Years. I have known for years that you are someone special." He said

Lorelai smiled and nodded. "Me too. I mean that you are someone special."

They continued the conversation.

"So how was your case?" Diana asked

"It was like most. Lots of leads leading nowhere until the end. We got our guy." Spencer told her

Diana nodded. "I don't know how you work these cases and are okay at the end of the day," Diana said. "I've never liked that Spencer does this job."

"He's mentioned you have a distaste for the work he does. But he has been critical in solving hundreds if not thousands of cases. He is very good at his job. And the team he is part of. Every one of us would die before we let anything happen to him." Lorelai assured her

"I have been told that before by another agent on the team." Diana nodded. "But a parent will always worry."

Lorelai nodded.

"Your father is an FBI agent too is that correct?" Diana asked

"Yes. He is the team lead of the team Spencer, and I are part of." Lorelai told her

"And I bet he worries every time you are out working a case," Diana said.

Lorelai nodded. "I don't doubt that. But that's why we work together and ensure no one is ever alone." She said feeling a slight guilt building up inside.

Spencer could tell by the look on her face that a nerve had been hit. He looked at his watch.

"Well, we should probably get going. The jet leaves in half an hour." He told his mother.

Diana nodded. They all said goodbye and Lorelai and Spencer left. They headed out to the car and Spencer started to drive.

"You okay?" He asked

"Was I that obvious?" She asked

"To me yes. Not to her." Spencer said. "I should have warned you. She tends to be blunt."

"You've mentioned it before." She said. "I knew. I guess I just didn't realize. How blunt."

"I'll talk to her. Next time she'll be less." Spencer said

"No. It's okay Spencer. She was herself. I'm glad. Nothing she said was wrong. Just made me realize more that every time I've ignored an order I was being selfish…" She said

Spencer shrugged. "We learn from our mistakes. You have made changes. The team has all noticed you have changed."

Lorelai nodded.

Spencer pulled into the airfield and both of them got onto the Jet. They were the last ones there. They took a seat, and the jet took off.

After flying a bit Lorelai went to the back to get some coffee. Aaron went to the back as well.

"How was meeting his mom?" Aaron asked

"It was okay." She said. "She's direct. That's for sure."

Aaron nodded. "Yes. I noticed that the one time I met her."

Lorelai smiled. "She remembers you. She mentioned you."

Aaron nodded. "But it went well? She seems to like you?"

"I think so yeah," Lorelai said as she held out a cup of coffee to him.

"Thank you." He said.

Lorelai nodded.

"Okay. I know when something is bothering you. What's up?" Aaron asked

"Well. She worries about Spencer at work of course. I get that. And she mentioned that you must worry about me out in the field. And it kind of… I'm sorry." She said looking down

"I'm not going to lie. Of course, I worry. As your father and as your boss. But I worry about every member of the team." He said

Lorelai took a breath. "I get that. But when you have an agent… who doesn't do what she's told… and that agent also happens to be your daughter."

"Look at me please." He said when she hadn't looked up at him.

Lorelai looked up at him.

"Yes. You've made mistakes. But I can see you are learning I don't know if it's losing Spencer or anymore losing privileges in your job for a second time. But I see you are learning that your life is far more valuable than getting the bad guy." Aaron said.

Lorelai nodded. "I never doubted that. I just have a hard time getting my brain to work instead of my heart when it gets personal. Or when it has to do with children."

"I get that. And it's ingrained in our DNA to protect children and those who are more vulnerable. But you can do that in a way that keeps you safe too." Aaron told her

Lorelai nodded. "I know that. I really do. And I promise I will think before I act in the future."

Aaron nodded. "Also, you know that I am so unbelievably proud of you. You are an unbelievably valuable member of this team. And I do not doubt that without you more than one case would never have been solved."

Lorelai smiled. "I don't know if I fully believe that but thank you."

"It's a fact Lorelai. Your inside knowledge of the bad side of the foster care system has been vital in more than one case." Aaron told her

Lorelai nodded. "I suppose."

"Now. You can sit with the guilt of the choices you have made, or you can realize that you were dealt with for them and continue to follow the rules. And use your knowledge to continue to do your job and help bring down our unsubs." Aaron said

She nodded again. "Got it." She said

Aaron nodded and went back to his seat.

Lorelai grabbed her coffee and went and sat back down with Spencer JJ & Derek.
