Author's Note: Sorry for taking so long to update this, but finally a new chapter has arrived and I will try to make this story as light-hearted as possible, so it won't be as dark as it seems at the moment.
I deeply apologize for not making it that light as I intended. Anyway, onward to the chapter!

Chapter 8: Food Fight and the Mischief Five!
When Yacker and his group had been searching around for their friends and attempting to save them as much as possible, they hadn't expected to not only be caught off-guard into an ambush, but also brought to the Food Monsters' very master, a 70 foot tall giant pizza monster and locked up inside the cage where all of the Wisps peered up, some with fear, others with glares, and the Food Monsters chanting in gibberish.
The enormous Pizza Monster leered down at it's captives with a scowl on it's face, sounding like it had been eating and talking with it's mouth full, pointing at the small aliens before making commands to it's people to take the Wisps away back to Jelly Castle where they will be imprisoned. But as two Corn-cobs were about to carry the cages, suddenly a blue blur smashed straight through them, with a Homing Attack hitting every single guard present and the cages suddenly disappeared.
"I was kinda hoping for a nice first meeting, but I don't think that's possible." Sonic, who had revealed himself and stood in a safe-ish distance, with Yacker and the other Wisps now freed and hovered around him as they all squealed in joy and flew around the blue hedgehog, spoke casually at the giant monster who, looking shocked at this blue intruder, growled back.
"(Thanks, Sonic! I knew you would come.)" Yacker said in sheer relief with a sigh, glad that the hero of Mobius had arrived on time.
"I never leave anybody behind." The blue hedgehog replied, then glared up at the giant monster who began to speak in gurbled gibberish that sounded disgusting. "Amy and the others think the Lunania Comet Shard's inside that thing."
"(They're right. It is what's making all of the food monsters come to life. In that center where the giant monster is, that's where the shard landed.)" The cute curl-headed Wisp nodded, pointing at the lower half of the Pizza-Monster, shocking Sonic and the others who stood around the corner worriedly.
The cobalt teenager narrowed his eyes, before smirking as he declared with determination. "Well, then I guess I'd better get it out. It's too bad I'm gonna be wasting a good pizza."
The giant pizza monster, angered that the blue Mobian had freed it's captives, roared before rising it's right clutched fist and brought it down to crush the 'intruders', but missed as Sonic and his friends quickly dodged with the hero of Mobius leaping back and the small aliens flying away as the ground shook, sending, well, flour dust flying everywhere and when Sonic landed, some of it got into his nose which prompted him to sneeze twice, and the Wisps coughing and sneezing as did Tails, Amy, Star, Cream and Cheese and the Wisps with them.
"Important information: Flour, not the beautiful kind that grow and is spelled differently, is one of the ingredients to make pizza dough when making pizza itself." Sonic sniffled, rubbing his nose to try and clear out the flour.
"(Sonic!)" The Star-Beam Wisp that volunteered to help him flew over, and hovered next to the sixteen year old. "(We have to be careful! That thing could be hard to beat!)"
"Roger that!" The hero of Mobius gave the Star-Shaped Wisp a thumbs up, before he and his companion glared up at the giant monster who roared again and attacked with it's other hand, but the two quickly dodged with the blue hedgehog using his speed to race around it though he didn't risk in using his Whirlwind ability as it might not even work this time.
He attempted to make it dizzy as the pizza monster tried to figure out where he was going and failed multiple times to catch, smash or crush him, even though it did then splutter out melted cheese and pepperoni from it's mouth and body which to Sonic and his friends it looked pretty disgusting. The blue hedgehog then noticed that one of the blobs was in front of him as he was about to run into it, and gasped, drifting to the side quickly to avoid only to repeatedly do so, yelping and jumping over them until he was forced to leap back away from it.
"Man, this guy's really at it!" Sonic grunted, glaring up at the monster who smiled monstrously as it gurbled and he had a feeling that it was mocking him. Instead of feeling discouraged or insulted, the cobalt speedster mocked back with a scolding. "Hey, big guy! Don't talk with your mouth full!"
"Sonic, incoming!" Tails warned frantically, pointing at more Food Monsters that began to appear behind the giant tower of bread behind the giant Pizza Monster who smirked evilly.
The blue hedgehog gritted his teeth just as his friends then all came in immediately, with Amy bringing out her Hammer and bashed three who, seeing her, skid to a stop and quickly panicked with their eyes nearly popping out but where unable to escape. The pink hedgehog bashed repeatedly with yells and grunts, while Star and Cream both stomped onto the heads of others, Cheese curling up and being tossed by his seven year old Mobian friend, and Tails flew up before Spin Dashing into three more.
"We'll keep these rotten creeps busy! You focus on the slimy and greasy junk!" Amy firmly ordered her boyfriend who, despite being worried for her and the others, nodded.
"Thanks, guys! Be careful!" Sonic responded and returned his attention back to the Pizza Monster who made to punch him and the Star-Beam Wisp who leaped back once more.
When the teenage hero and the star-shaped little alien glared up at it as the giant monster was about to spit out more cheesy blobs to trap them, the two shared a nod before the Star-Beam flew right into Sonic's chest to let him burrow it's power of wishes and other powers from other Wisps as well as powers what he would want to think of in this battle. He felt as light and sparkly, feeling that anything was almost possible, and simple wishes that he would want would come true, reminding him of when Shahra appointed him as her master. At the moment, he wanted to stop the Pizza Monster by freezing it and...
"WISH: ICE!" Sonic shouted, transforming into a cobalt and light-yellow star shape before he turned into a flying icicle and spun around spreading out sprinkles of ice onto the blob which froze and crashed onto the ground, bouncing around and doing the same with the other blobs that were shot out from the monster's mouth, stopping it's attacks much to the amazement of his friends.
The hero of Mobius then drill-rolled like he would with his Spin Dash, only he was leaving a trail of ice and then made contact with the Pizza Monster who reared back in shock, as the blue hedgehog then spun upward and around rapidly, freezing the mutant Pizza from the lower half right to the top. It tried catching him and at some point snatched Sonic and the Star-Beam Wisp combined, holding their icicle form within it's clutches when the two cried out, with their friends seeing this and cried out in horror. Yet as it grinned evilly at it's captured prey, the power of the duo was too strong as it's hand then began freezing up as well.
Shocked and feeling the freezing temperature in fear, the giant monster growled as it realized what was going on before attempting to stop it's prisoners by clasping them with it's other hand, trapping Sonic and the Star-Beam Wisp inside both hands where they seemingly couldn't escape. Unfortunately the Wish-Ice power was too strong as it's other hand became frozen as well, while within, Sonic spun around increasing the burrowed power which began to freeze up the rest of the monster's body, much to it's horror as it gave out a gurling roar before becoming completely frozen solid, trapped in it's frozen state.
"It worked!" Tails exclaimed in awe.
"But what about Sonic!?" Amy cried out, worriedly as Sonic and the Star-Beam Wisp were still trapped within the frozen monster's grasp.
Just then, light began to shone within the grasp of the hand, as Tails, Amy and the others then heard Sonic's voice and ice beginning to crack.
"WISH: DRILL!"
Somehow making a second wish while still temporarily bonded with the star-shaped alien, Sonic was now burrowing the power of the Drill Wisp and drilled his way out, before smashing right into the frozen Pizza Monster's opened mouth as while it was frozen from inside out, it didn't block it from anybody going in. The hero of Mobius drilled right inside and smashed through it's icicle state before the giant frozen monster began to shatter and glow when Sonic, suddenly now in Ghost form when he was now carrying something glowing, flew straight back out of it's mouth to safety, while the monster glowed before it vaporized into sparkles of ice and light, ultimately defeated, and somehow melting into a normal giant pizza.
This defeat resulted the Food Monsters that weren't defeated yet to suddenly glow and disappeared, turning into normal giant food, and not just here, but also all across Sweet Mountain.

Even Knuckles and Sun who were guarding the portal noticed, before turning around and saw that the portal now closed up. The two blinked in surprise before sharing a glance.

Sonic's friends in the meantime gazed up in awe while Sonic himself returned to normal with the glowing item in his hand...
Only to that he was still in midair and looked down to see where he was.
"Uh-oh..." Sonic muttered with wide eyes, before screaming and landed right into the melted cheese of the giant pizza and ended up lying on top of it in cheesy splash, with cheese and pizza sauce flying almost everywhere. Groaning, he gazed skyward with an awkward smile. "Well, that's what I call a food fight. It's a good thing that food can also be used for soft landing. First was ice cream, then it was pie, then popcorn and now pizza. Think I might be starting to become a junk food chunky."
He did this while the Star-Beam Wisp coming out of his chest and hovered beside him.
"(Sorry. I should've helped you to hover to the dry land.)" The Star-Beam sheepishly sweat dropped.
"Nah, don't worry about it, little guy. By the way, what's the name?" The blue hedgehog responded, knowing that it didn't do it on purpose.
"(Sparkle.)" Sparkle the Star-Beam Wisp answered, beaming a happy expression.
"Pleasure to fully meet ya." Sonic winked with a grin. "Thanks for the help."
"Sonic! Are you okay?" Tails called out worriedly as he and the others hurried to the edge of the food.
"I'm okay. Just gonna need to get outta of this pizza and then hit the shower when we get back to the Blue Typhoon. Maybe we can have some of it before we go." The hero of Mobius half-teased with a thumbs up, glad that the fight was over and all of the food monsters were gone. He then gazed at the glowing stone, all of them realizing that it was the Lunania Comet Shard that had been inside that thing.
It felt warm to the touch, so bright and beautiful, it almost looked like a star itself. Could it be that the shard's power could change environment and create new lifeforms out of different sources and material of the world?
Just then, it shone more brightly which startled Sonic and his friends before light spread out from where he was stuck in and the next thing everybody knew, it spread out through out the entire planet, covering all of the surface and the former Food Monsters which suddenly changed shape around them, and right before their very eyes, all of the non-sugar food disappeared and the light spread onto the Jelly Castle which then sparkled before vanishing and spread the sweetness across the planet, restoring Sweet Mountain back into it's original state, with ice creams, chocolate, cookies, cakes, everything that's made out of sugar returning. Even the Watermelon Mountain which Knuckles and Sun both climbed down from changed into a giant Whipped Cream Cake with a huge cherry on top.
And the platform that the Blue Typhoon was turned into a giant wafle tower that was still stable for it to stand on.
"Ugh, this is Sweet Mountain, alright. I can't believe the amount of sugar in this place." Sun groaned, stunned and slightly a bit nauseated by the sudden transformation and the giant cake which, in his opinion, was just asking for anyone to get diabetes.
"Yeah, I think I prefer this place when it had vegetables and fruit. Just wish I found an area with giant grapes around." Knuckles shrugged in agreement.
"I'd go for that giant Cheeseburger. Didn't even get the chance to taste the giant Watermelon." The orange hedgehog shook his head.
The seventeen year old echidna looked at the former Werehog skeptically over the comment. "You have a thing for Cheeseburgers, don't you?"
Sun just smirked, saying. "I guess that's another reason why I was never a full Sonic clone, 'cause while the Chili Dogs are admittedly tasty, they can't beat the deliciousness of the burgers themselves."
"Guess you got a point." The red echidna grumbled.
"And from what I heard, Shadow actually eats coffee beans instead of just mixing them up to make actual coffee. Which is kind of gross." The orange hedgehog added.
"Which makes him the perfect partner for Rouge since her second love in life is coffee." Knuckles folded his arms. "But at least she has it like a normal person."
"Between you and me, Knuckles, she scares me." Sun admitted with a sweat drop. "Anyway, not that everything's back to normal, let's find Sonic and the others."
Just as Knuckles agreed with the former Werehog, all of the sudden a huge shadow loomed over them with a musical like voice echoing which was strangely translated on their WCS's. "(Excuse me, did you know Sonic?)"
Frozen at the shadow as well as the giant but gentle voice, the two Mobians turned slowly around and flinched in fright with screams, as they saw who...this giant pink Wisp was!
Unaware of what was going on with Sun and Knuckles as Sweet Mountain was restored, the pizza that Sonic was stuck in turning into a giant plate of a towering pile of five giant pancakes that suddenly appeared which made the sixteen year old yelp in fright for a second or two while his friends gazed at awe, and the cheese turning into maple syrup, even that was on the blue hedgehog who sat there for a moment.
"Well, that works." Sonic remarked, amazed and a bit awkward before a tipping his finger into the syrup and licked it, smiling. "Mmmm. Yep. Sweet Mountain's definitely back to normal."
Tails, the girls, the Wisps and Cheese all giggled by this comment and how the cobalt hedgehog even tasted the sweet sugary stuff just to make sure, before Star suggested. "Let's get you off of there, Sonic, and find the others. Our job here's done."
"Sounds good to me." Sonic agreed, making to get up as the stickiness of the pizza was gone, replaced by the sticky but thankfully not glue-like substance of the syrup, only for the ground to shake a little and everyone heard a deep moan, causing the young heroes to look around in alarm.
"What's that!?" Sonic asked, nervously.
"Oh no!" Cream exclaimed, pointing up to the cobalt hedgehog's front point of view and when everyone else followed her lead, they all gasped and cried out in horror as they saw the same red round Zomom-look-alike alien approach while it began to enlarge, not just it's mouth, but it's entire body this time which frightened the Mobians, the little Chao and the Wisps. While doing so, it gazing at the giant pancakes hungrily...and even at the now terrified blue hedgehog on top of the pile, a bit like a blue berry and somehow recognized him, because it's eyes widened with a big smile on it's face.
"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!" Sonic and his friends all screamed in horror, as the alien monster grew to about 75 feet tall that still towered over the giant pile of Pancakes, believing that it was going to eat the hero of Mobius.
"IT'S YOU...SONIC THE HEDGEHOG!" The giant red alien exclaimed, almost excitedly and began to reach out for him.
The blue hedgehog, gasping in fear, quickly made to run for is while Sparkle flew back to the others, only for the sixteen year old to slip in the slippery syrup and landed back onto his back, making him realize that he can't run and if he walked, he would still be captured. Sonic then looked fearfully back up at the monster who reached out with it's right hand as everyone screamed out for their trapped heroic friend, and he whimpered and wondered if these guys were after him.
He then had another idea, glaring up at the giant monster. "You're not gonna get me, buddy!"
Sonic stood up while placing the shard into his quills and quickly Spin Jumped off of the giant pancakes in order to escape, just as the giant alien, seeing this, reached out quickly. "WAIT, COME BACK!"
Before the cobalt teenager could get far, the giant alien was quicker and held out it's left hand to block his escape, causing him to hit it and while it yelped in pain, Sonic ended up uncurling himself with a cry out in alarm before he landed onto it's palm, and screamed when the monster then wrapped it's fingers around the lower part of his body and held him in a firm grip, while all of his friends shouted in horror.
"I GOTCHA!" The giant alien exclaimed in delight, while the blue hedgehog tried to wriggle and squirm and pull himself free, but the massive monster kept him within it's grasp to make sure he didn't get away, and then brought him slowly up towards it's mouth.
"AAAHH! NO! Let go of me!" Sonic screamed out frantically, panicking and wondered how this happened and just how strong these new aliens are.
"We're coming Sonic!" Tails shouted, as he was quickly joined by all of the Wisps as Yacker and Cutie Cutie both looked up in fear at the giant alien monster...
Only to gap in shock as their eyes widened when they saw something unexpected within this new creature; a small familiar alien shaped a bit like a red spiky one which made them gasp.
"Guys, no! Run! Get outta here!" The blue hedgehog cried out, fearing for his friends and family's safeties, before looking back up to the giant alien monster in horror. He whimpered, and gasped, terrified as the giant Zomom-look-alike was staring at him in pure delight. The Wisps then all attempted to use their powers to try and save Sonic, but strangely enough some of the energy was stopped and the giant red alien seemed to glow a little which cancelled their powers, much to their horror.
"(Oh no! Our Hyper-Go-On! Something's wrong! We can't use them!)" Yacker exclaimed.
"WHAT!?" Sonic and Tails both shouted in horror as they and the rest of their friends had no idea what was happening that disabled the Wisps' abilities.
"Oh no! That means we can't even Jump or Teleport to safety!" The two-tailed fox exclaimed in dismay.
"Please don't eat Sonic, Mr. Alien! He's our friends!" Cream pleaded.
"Let him go, you big bully! Amy shouted, summoning her Hammer to at least distract the 'evil' alien, who gazed at her looking confused and turned back to the trapped blue hedgehog, only for his friends, both on the ground and in the air to be levitated and unable to move freely, screaming in fear, confusion and alarm and yelling to be let go, much to the horror of Sonic as he cried out to them.
"NO!" Sonic screamed, then fearfully looked back up at the monster who returned it's gaze to him.
"SONIC!" Amy screamed in heartbreak and horror.
"Let me go! You can't eat me! Hedgehogs aren't really good snacks!" Sonic shouted, and gasped in horror when he saw how close he was to the mouth, quivering and squeezed his eyes shut and sweating in fear.
But the giant alien, who somehow looked a bit saddened and shocked when the small blue hedgehog was scared of it, which was noticed by Tails, Cream and some of the Wisps as they wondered why it looked sad, just stared at the sixteen year old in it's grasp, scratching the top of it's head in confusion before it brought shrugged despite that it felt hurt and instead brought Sonic, who felt that he wasn't even inside the mouth, hesitantly opened his eyes before looking up, to it's chest as he yelped when he was then...
Hugged by the giant alien like a small teddy bear or toy, held firmly between both hands which trapped him by his lower part of his body and it's chest.
"IT'S GREAT TO FINALLY MEET YOU, SONIC. YOU'RE EVERYBODY'S HERO!" The giant alien said happy, which dumbfounded everyone who all sweat dropped even as Sonic once again tried to wriggle out of it's grasp.
"H-Hey! Hold up, big guy! Cut it out! Y-you're crushing me to death!" Sonic grunted and pleaded as he tried to get out of the grasp, screaming for help once more. Thankfully the grip loosened as the giant alien, seemingly realizing it's mistake, held him back and allowed the blue hedgehog to sit on it's palm, panting before realizing he was still alive.
"SORRY. I JUST GOT OVER EXCITED." The Zomom look-alike rubbed the back of it's head. "I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO MEET YOU."
"Uh...T-thanks, I guess." The hero of Mobius blinked, not understanding the whole situation at all. "What's going on here? You mean to tell me that you weren't gonna eat me or my friends earlier? Then why did you make your mouth go bigger and was about to eat us on that giant orange? On that note, how did you know my name?"
"HUH? WHY WOULD I WANNA EAT YOU, SONIC? YOU WOULDN'T EVEN TASTE GOOD AT ALL. I ONLY WANTED TO JUST EAT THE ORANGE AND HELP YOU OUT, BUT I WAS GLAD THAT YOU, TAILS AND THE OTHER GUYS MADE IT OKAY." The giant alien explained with a shrug confused.
"Well then, can you please let me go? I'm not really comfortable like this." Sonic asked pleadingly, still feeling more than a little uneasy.
"AW...OKAY." The giant alien pouted, seemingly realizing that the blue hedgehog wasn't willing to come with him or four of his allies, but it did stroke him on the head, petting him which made the teenager laugh and groan at the same time.
"C-cut that out! I'm not a toy or a pet!" The sixteen year old cried out, before he was finally lowered back to solid ground where the stunned others were, gently putting him down before the giant alien withdrew it's hand.
It gazed at the bewildered teenage hero who stared at it back in wonder, trying to figure out why this giant alien that can grow and shrink at will didn't eat him while his friends hurried over in sheer relief and ignored the fact that he was still covered in left over maple syrup.
"Sonic! Oh, Sonic!" Amy cried, hugging her boyfriend who stumbled a bit, before they were joined by Tails, Star, Cream and Cheese and the Wisps, which made Sonic and soon his friends to tear up as they held each other in a group hug, a little traumatized by the horrible experience yet very relieved that he was still alive.
"Are you okay, Mr. Sonic?" Cream asked, tearfully.
"Chao, Chao?" Cheese chirped.
"Yeah, I'm fine now. Really thought I was gonna be eaten for a while there." The blue hedgehog replied, smiling emotionally at his youngest friends. They then turned to see the giant Zomom alien who smiled before picking up the plate and gulped down the pancakes in one sitting, munching away before swallowing and licked it's lips happily. It then licked it's hand when it realized that some of the syrup that was on the hero got onto it's palm.
"MMMMMM...THAT WAS TASTY." The red alien murmured, before it shrank back down to normal size and gazed at the confused group. "Sorry for scaring you all earlier. I didn't mean to."
Now even more puzzled and wondering the meaning of these Zeti-like aliens yet this one didn't seem to be a threat at all despite what happened earlier, the group shared confused glances before Sonic, being brave enough to actually confront it for answers, walked over to the red alien.
"I guess I can kinda forgive for that, big guy, but what do you want with me?" Sonic shrugged, wanting to get more answers.
"It's...a complicated story." Said the Zeti-like alien.
That only confused the group even further as you could practically see question marks appear all around them, with Sonic, Tails and Speed raising eye brows, completely clueless. It wasn't until Yacker hover over to the blue hedgehog's side along with Cutie as their suspicions only got stronger.
"(...Roller? Is that you?)" Cutie hesitantly asked, which surprised the Mobians and Cheese, along with the rest of the Wisps who squealed in shock and disbelief at what she just said.
It was even more shocking when the big Zeti-like alien replied, now nervously as it held up it's hands. "Oh! Uh...Hi Cutie, and big brother Yacker."
"Big brother!?" Sonic and the rest of the group exclaimed in disbelief.
"Wait, then that means...!" Amy cried out, horror mounting onto horror.
"But...but how!?" Tails exclaimed, unable to believe what he was hearing.
"No way...You're a Wisp!?" Sonic yelled with his eyes going wide at Roller, the former Wisp that had transformed into a Zeti-like alien. His heart dropped into his stomach as a horrified realization formed, guilt once again rising up inside his chest. "No...How could this have happened!?"
"Roller, there you are!" A new, young male voice called out, causing everyone including Roller to look to the direction where the former Wisp came from, and most of them cried out in shock when they saw three more Zeti-like aliens, each of them looking rather trance-like.
Each of them looked a bit like the Zeti as Sonic recalled seeing six of the Deadly Three that Sun mentioned back in White Space three weeks earlier, only they were differently shaped compared. One was grey with blue eyes having a shark fin on it's back, long fingers on both hands and a tail that looked like a giant nail hammer, being the one who had spoken. The second was yellow with three opal green eyes and long red wavy hair, a tail that made it look like a genie, but with four tentacle-Wisp like arms with a green like dress. The third was crazy looking and looking like a ghost with sharp teeth, coloured in cyan that was somewhat bulky but not so much, one big eye which was yellow, like a half-giant Nega-Wisp but with six tentacles.
But what was inside these big aliens that horrified all of the normal Wisps; In the Grey one was a Hammer Wisp, matching it's tail appearance. In the female-looking one, was another Twirl Wisp, and inside the third one, was another Jumping Wisp, all three of them having trance-like appearance as though they didn't seem to realize what was going on, unlike Roller who, as Yacker and Cutie saw, seemed to be unaware of what was going on.
"Where have you been?" The Grey Zeti-like alien that was once the Hammer Wisp asked, annoyed.
"I'm sorry. I just was so hungry. I love this place! Though I didn't get to chance to eat the Pizza, at least I got delicious doughy and sweet sticky stuff." Roller shrugged, sheepishly.
"You're always hungry, Roller. Pretty soon, you will be too big to even roll around." The female alien shook her head in annoyance.
"Yeah, I'm surprised you aren't getting any stomach aches yet, growing into a giant or not." The third Zeti-like creature rolled it's single eye, making the former Red-Spiky Wisp sweat drop and pouted childishly.
"(Whacker!? Dancer!? Racer!?)" Yacker, Speed, Cutie, Ghostly and Lily all exclaimed in disbelief, which now horrified their Mobian and Chao friends even further as they gasped.
"Wait, if you guys can recognize them as Wisps, then are they-!?" Sonic began, shocked beyond belief as he felt his guilt increase.
That even surprised the new trio as their eyes widened, before Roller once again felt sheepish as he explained. "Big brother Yacker and little sister Cutie can see through us, but Sonic, Tails and their other friends who came with them can't."
"Awwwww! Are you serious? That just ain't fair!" Racer the former Jumping Wisp whined loudly, while Dancer the former Twirl Wisp pouted and folded her arms, and Whacker the former Hammer Wisp looked pretty annoyed, placing his hands on his hips.
"So much for nobody being able to recognize us. Now how are Spirit's plans gonna work out?" Whacker grumbled.
"Spirit!?(Spirit!?)" Sonic's group including all of the normal Wisps exclaimed in unison.
"Chao chao!?" Cheese squeaked in disbelief.
Speed, horrified and now furious over that things have gotten even worse, flew over to the Zeti-looking Wisps and demanded them. "(Where's Spirit!? What happened to you guys!?)
"Speed, hold on!" Sonic cried out, hurrying over and gently grabbed his friend before the little Wisp could do anything reckless, holding him firmly as the Jumping alien tried to get out of his grasp. "I know you're upset, just like all of us, but we can't make things even worse than they already are."
"Sonic's right, Speed. We have to be careful, or else they'll just get angry." Tails agreed as he and the others approached worriedly. "If we ask gently, we can figure out where Spirit is."
"You called?" A new deep voice echoed, startling the heroes who looked up and gasped as another transformed Wisp, the same green one that had spotted Sonic's group stumble into the portal earlier appear. As while the other four transformed Wisps gaped in surprise at the unexpected arrival, he grinned.
The heroes and their friends gaped in shock, but Sonic looked the most horrified, his eyes widened as he remembered briefly seeing Zavok in the White Space and during his battle against Scourge three weeks ago, only it was a mixture of that guy, a Jade-Ghost Wisp and a Nega-Wisp. He knew in that instant that this was Spirit, the Wisp who had thought it was a good idea to link the worlds and cause so many current problems.
All because he and some of his followers wanted to keep Sonic and Tails for themselves, and believed that both Yacker and the Mother Wisp wanted the very same thing, that letting the two Mobians go was a mistake.
"Oh no..." Sonic whispered in horror and guilt. This was twice as worse as when Eggman sucked up all of the Hyper-Go-Ons and the Wisps that lost their powers would transform into Nega-Wisps.
And it's all his fault.
"I knew you would come and restore Sweet Mountain, Sonic the Hedgehog. You really are the hero as they say. This is very exciting!" The Zavok-look-alike greeted, pleased with the results.
"(Spirit...!)" Yacker murmured, his eye narrowing in horror and anger over what has happened.
Spirit, the newly transformed Wisp gazed at the curl-headed Wisp and now frowned at him. "Hmmm...So you and all of our kinds do recognize me and my squad. That's too bad. I really thought with this new power no one would recognize us, but I guess I was wrong."
"So you're Spirit, huh? I've heard a little bit about you." Sonic guessed correctly, trying not to panic or show how horrified he was, despite the sheer dismay of seeing what these usually gentle creatures had become.
"And I have heard so many heroic things you did for our people. Especially how you are able to borrow our power to defeat Baldy Nosehair." The transformed green Wisp replied, grinning.
"Thanks for the compliment, but I was trying to save the whole universe from that guy. I didn't even want any kind of power. I just wanted to make sure your people were safe and free." The blue hedgehog pointed out.
"I've heard of your kindness as well. That's what I like about you, Hero of Wisps." Spirit's grin only widened, which only made Sonic and his friends feel more uncomfortable despite the compliment he was giving the hero of Mobius, even giving a new title while thinking to himself. 'To meet the Sonic the Hedgehog right here in person...He is more amazing than in the stories.'
"(What did you do to yourselves!?)" Speed demanded, squealing in anger as he tried to squirm out of Sonic's grip to give them a piece of his mind, especially Spirit, but the blue hedgehog held him back to stop him from hurting himself or fighting against his own family. "(Hey, let go, Sonic! I gotta teach them a real big lesson!)"
"Speed, no! You can't hurt them! It's wrong!" Sonic cried out, pleadingly as he struggled to hold the squirming little Wisp from making a big mistake.
Tails gazed worriedly, wondering how this could all have happened, before he remembered what Ghostly and Lily said earlier before their arrival to Sweet Mountain.
"(It's awful! We all ended up in this empty, red planet that doesn't have anything but rock at all. We went underground and some of us already went home, but Spirit and the others that got us there used their Hyper-Go-Ons to drag in the magical Flying Star that flies around every 100 years, just like Mama said in her stories, into the world and taking away it's power, with pieces of it flying to many planets to make them link together or something, with new portals and stuff for everybody to visit!)" Ghostly explained, clearly very upset.
"(Not only that, but because of what Spirit did, the only way to for them to get back home and to fix everything up is to find the shards of the comet, and even then, Spirit wants only Sonic and Tails to come to our world and nobody else.)" The Lavender-Cobalt Wisp explained.
'This must be part of Spirit's fun, but now...now it's corrupted him and the other Wisps...!' The nine year old fox cub thought in horrified realization. The desire to keep him and Sonic forever, plus somehow using the Lunania Comet's powers to increase the chances to change everything to Spirit's satisfaction...
Oh, Chaos! The situation was already getting even worse!
"(Roller grabbed you and made everybody think he was gonna eat you!)" Speed pointed out angrily.
"That was before we found that he was a Wisp and he, Spirit and the other Wisps turned into...into...new shapes!" Sonic struggled to put in a way of describing the five Wisps' new terrifying forms without making things worse.
"New shapes?" Spirit questioned, cackling which made the hero of Mobius and the others to gaze up at him and his four followers. "Well, that is a nice way to put it, Sonic. But it isn't just a new shape we have. We look better! This is part of the excitement!"
But the blue hedgehog, horrified along with his group, shook his head in denial. "No..."
"We have formed a new group to bring everyone together, especially you and Tails, Sonic. We are known as the best of the Wisps! We are...The Mischief Five!" Spirit declared as he, Roller, Whacker, Dancer and Racer all posed despite that Roller was the only transformed alien that was able to come here psychically.
"The Mischief Five?" Sonic and his friends asked simultaneously. Why did that sound like a better version of the Deadly Three?
"You want to cause mischief all across the universe?" Star asked, incredulously. "I can't believe it!"
"Well, at least they can speak the same language." The sixteen year old hedgehog nervously remarked, which only made everyone else on his team to sweat drop with dull or worried expressions. This made Sonic flinch slightly. "Sorry. I'm just trying to lighten the mood a little."
"That reminds me. How come you understand the other Wisps? I thought big brother Yacker said that Tails had this translator thingy with him." Roller questioned, once again clueless.
"I invented new translators through these watches, the WCS." Tails hesitantly explained, revealing his own underneath his glove. "It translates everything that all Wisps say with a voice recorder that allows us and everybody else near by to understand what they're saying. It's a lot easier than what I did the last time."
"It comes in handy." Sonic added with a sweat drop of his own.
This seemed to impress the Mischief Five as Spirit grinned. "Oh, so you are smarter than they say, Tails. That is very impressive."
"And because of that, we know from what you and the other four have done with the Lunania Comet. What I want to know is why did you do it?" Tails added, a bit more firmly.
"And more importantly, why did you think it's a good idea for this to happen? Besides wanting the both of us to stay on Planet Wisp, why are you doing this?" Sonic added, folding his arms, this time more firmly as he folded his arms despite that he felt awful for doing this. But he had to make the message clear.
"It is all in the fun, and we want you to find the rest of the Flying Star's shards, Sonic and keep you both." Spirit responded mischievously which concerned the blue hedgehog's group. "You should know how now little brother Yacker and Mama always wanted you two to stay, because you belong to us. You will stay with us forever. Planet Wisp is were you belong."
"You're wrong." The sixteen year old replied, shaking his head. "Tails and I can't stay. We have a home and family on Mobius who want us to come back. We're not for keeps. I don't want us to be enemies, Spirit, but you can't just force everybody to do what you want."
That didn't make Spirit happy at all as he growled, which was a frightening thing for the Wisps to see. Yet has he did, the inner Jade Wisp within him became visible which made Sonic's eyes widen in shock and confusion before softly gasping in alarm when he saw something very strange lingering around the Ghost alien within the new vessel; a mist of darkness that looked horribly familiar surrounding him before the vision of both vanished.
"Then let's play a game." Spirit declared, hovering up along with his four followers, even though Roller looked hesitant and now concerned over this, all five of them floating over the Mobians, the normal Wisps and the little Chao."You will find the rest of the Comet's shards, and encounter each of us. If you find all of them, close the portals and defeat the monsters that appear from the shard's powers, come and find me on the deserted empty planet for the final game, and if you win, then everything will go back to normal. But if you lose..."
"Then I have no choice but to stay on Planet Wisp forever, where you can keep me all you want." Sonic finished knowingly for the transformed ghost alien, which made his friends and family just as shocked. He then smirked at the test. "Alright, sounds fair."
"(Sonic!)" Cutie exclaimed worriedly.
"Don't worry, Cutie. It's gonna be alright." The hero of Mobius reassured. "It's just a test and I won't be fighting the Mischief Five. I don't want to hurt them. But the monsters that are appearing from the shards are a different story since they're not real."
"Good! I thought you would see it like that. But don't think you can do this easily, Sonic. There will be obstacles in each and every world." The leader of the Mischief Five cautioned with excitement, pleased that the hero of Mobius has agreed to do this, and held high hopes that even if the hedgehog did win, he would reconsider his options.
Sonic just grinned back despite feeling worried and guilty over this. "No problem. I'm used to stuff like this. No matter how hard the challenges are, I won't give up. And I'm also going to turn you and the other Mischief Wisps back to normal. That I promise! But I do have one request."
"And what is that?"
"You don't reveal yourselves to anybody on Mobius. Only on the planets where the shards are. I don't want to cause anymore panic or misunderstanding than the way they are. They already had enough of that with the evil Black Arm Creatures that were just as horrible as Baldy McNosehair was." The cobalt hedgehog explained. "Don't get me wrong, the Wisps are all great and gentle and fun to hang out with, but I don't want anybody to hate you."
"I'm starting to think that Sonic's right. He and everybody were scared of me when they thought I was gonna eat them." Roller admitted in concern, which made Whacker, Dancer and Racer share shocked and confused glances.
Spirit, despite his current status of plans, flinched over that before groaning as he face palmed himself. As much as he hated to admit it, perhaps that was a very good point. "Ugh, fine. So there was a big slip there, but I guess I have no choice but to agree. Not that I believe in that Black Arms stuff, but if that's how you want it, then I'll do that."
A moment of pause.
"But don't forget, Sonic. You are one of us now. You have saved our family, who want to thank you...by keeping you with us in our world...forever." Spirit warned with a finality as he and the other four of his team then vanished in beams of light, disappearing with Roller psychically returning to the empty world despite Speed and Yacker's protests to wait.
"Where did they go?" Cream asked, worriedly.
"Chao, Chao?" Cheese squeaked.
"They must have gone back to where they're hiding right now." Amy guessed, as she and everyone else turned to Sonic who, staring up at where the Mischief Five had disappeared from, lowered his gaze in sheer guilt and dismay. "Sonic?"
"Sonic, are you okay?" Tails asked in great concern.
Sonic didn't reply at first, his mind into what has happened and, unable to bear it anymore, sat on the ground which greatly worried his friends as he hugged his knees to his chest. "This is all my fault. I never should've wasted two whole months in self-pity. I should've gone after Eggman and stopped him from building...from building his stupid Interstellar Amusement Park."
"Even worse, I can't change it because it would only not only bring Eggman back, but make everything in the last three months even worse. Now Spirit's gone down the wrong path just to get to me..." He continued, struggling to hold it in, until finally he couldn't anymore and the distraught blue hedgehog, embarrassed that his friends were watching him fall apart, but didn't even have the will or energy to run away, buried his face into his arms and tried not to cry.
Everyone could only watch in worry and guilt to see Sonic once again blame himself for something he didn't do and began to gather around him to give him as much comfort, love and support as he needs.
"I've destroyed the peace and harmony of the Wisps...!" Sonic muffled, curling up in shame as he held full responsibility for his terrible actions. "Oh, Yacker...Speed...Cutie...Everybody...I'm so sorry!"
"Sonic, no...No, don't do this to yourself!" Tails cried out, kneeling next to his big brother and hugged him, tears forming in the corner of his eyes as he wrapped his arms and tails around the upset blue hedgehog, with Amy, Cream, Cheese, Star, and all of the Wisps who could only gaze worriedly and sympathetically at their hero and friend, joining in to try and calm the distraught hero down.
"Shhh...Sonic, it's going to be alright." Amy whispered, also tearful as she gently gave her boyfriend a kiss on the head.
"It'll be okay, Mr. Sonic. Please don't worry." Cream murmured in sadness.
"Chao, Chao." Cheese cooed in sadness as he and some of the Wisps patted the crying cobalt teenager supportively.
"(Sonic, it isn't your fault. Nobody blames you.)" Yacker said softly, floating over in front of Sonic, gently rubbing the teenager's arms and head to get his attention. It seemed to work, as Sonic guilt-ridden with his eyes full of tears threatening to escape, slowly looked up as the curl-headed Wisp added. "(I should have paid more attention to Spirit, but you can't blame yourself for this to happen.)"
"How can I not, Yacker? I failed to stop Eggman from kidnapping you and your mom and your entire home. It's because of me that Spirit and the Wisps that are following him are turning against you and everybody else just so he could force me and Tails to stay on Planet Wisp. If I had stayed, none of this would've happened." Sonic pointed out, a few tears silently sliding free as he lowered his gaze a little. "I messed everything up. Maybe I haven't learned my lessons after all..."
"That isn't true at all, Sonic!" Tails protested, shaking his head. "Just because Spirit and all of the Wisps want to keep you doesn't mean you're the cause of what's happened to him."
Before Sonic could argue that he is the main cause of the troubles, a familiar singing-like voice suddenly echoed close by which made him and his friends/family to blink in surprise. "(Tails is right, little one. You are not to blame for what my son Spirit is going through.)"
Looking up, the Mobians, little Chao and the remaining Wisps gaped in shock and surprise, as Star gasped while Amy, Cream and Cheese somehow recognize the new arrival, revealing to be none other than the Mother Wisp, who, during her disappearance, has found herself on Sweet Mountain and had found Knuckles and Sun who, stunned and shocked to have met her, were now riding on top of her head as they waved at their friends, greeting them.
"Yacker's Mom!" Sonic exclaimed, relieved, shocked, surprised, and a little fearful upon seeing the Mother Wisp again.
"It's the Mother Wisp!" Tails added, surprised and relieved. "Knuckles and Sun found her?"
"To put it simply, she's the one who found us." Knuckles corrected, shrugging.
"Yeah, she gave us a surprise, that's for sure." Sun added, still a little bit shaken by the experience with a sweat drop.
"Wow!" Amy and Cream both chorused.
"That's amazing! I'm so relieved." Star sighed happily.
All of the Wisps around them, even from the rest of the planet that had been freed after Sonic had defeated the giant Pizza Monster, all flew up to the Mother Wisp happily crying out. "(MAMA!)"
The smaller aliens gathered around their mother and hugged her as the giant Mother, very relieved to see most of her children safe and sound, embraced them in return. "(My darlings. I was so worried.)"
As Sonic and his friends watched the happy reunion, the blue hedgehog felt the smile that formed on his face vanish as he lowered his gaze for a moment, once again reminded and believing that this whole thing was all his fault. Especially when he is the catalyst of the gentle creatures losing their peace and harmony because of his actions in not stopping Eggman and his fame in the first place. He barely paid attention to Yacker, Speed, Cutie, Ghostly, and Lily telling their mother how Sonic himself managed to save them from the Food Monsters.
Sighing as he knew he had to face the possibility of the giant Wisp's wrath without her being a Nega-Wisp, and despite the concerned whispers from his little brother, girlfriend, little sister-like figure, Chao friend and Sun's girlfriend, Sonic stood up before approaching the Mother Wisp who, after finishing up her reunion with her children, gazed at the guilt-ridden teenager as he stopped before her, resigned to his fate of being yelled at before being brutally punished for his mistakes, which only increased the fears and worries from the rest of the group.
"Yacker's Mom...I mean, Mother Wisp...I...I'm deeply sorry for Spirit doing all of this. It's all my fault. I never should have wasted two months while Eggman did what he did before he died..." Sonic swallowed the lump in his throat, kneeling on both knees and bowed his head. "I'm so sorry..."
On contuary of Sonic's imaginations, the Mother Wisp only gazed at the young blue hedgehog for his misguided guilt, and gently reached over which made the rest of the Mobians panic a little but were reassured by Yacker and his siblings that the giant mother wasn't going to hurt him. She stroked him on the head.
"(Dear child, you're not to blame.)" She told him gently, making Sonic look up at her hesitantly, and found that she was even glaring at him at all. The blue hedgehog saw that she held the same gentle look as when he first officially met her; understanding, caring, kind and supporting. "(I know what you're feeling, but please, Sonic, it is not your fault.)"
"But I-" Sonic began, only to be gently interrupted when he felt the giant monster continue to caress him, making him chuckle at the slight tickling senstation, blushing in embarrassment when he inadvertently began purring. He felt even more embarrased when Tails and the girls began giggling.
"(Sonic. If you are afraid I would be furious, don't be scared. You have done so much for my children, and so much more.)" The Mother Wisp told him, before gently picking him up which made the blue hedgehog cry out softly yet held him carefully in her tentacle and wiped away a tear from the teenager's eyes. "(You are a hero, yes, but it is wrong to force you and your friend to stay with us. I know you both have a family and a home to go back to, and I would feel horrible in taking you away from where you belong.)"
"Then...Spirit was right? You and Yacker really...wanted me and Tails to stay?" Sonic asked, hesitantly which shocked Tails and the rest of the group who shared worried glances. Was it all true then?
"Is this true? Did you really want us to stay, Yacker?" Tails asked the curl-headed Wisp who lowered his gaze in guilt.
"(We did, but we knew that it was wrong to force you and Sonic to stay. And after seeing how many friends you have and how beautiful your world is, Mama and I knew that you wanted to go home, because like us, you have family waiting for you. We didn't want to be like Baldy Nosehair. We're sorry.)" Yacker confessed, only to be gently patted on the head by the two-tailed fox who along with everyone, especially Sonic who felt his heart ache, all smiled softly with sympathy.
"It's okay. We have fans that go all crazy back at home too. Sometimes they just won't leave us alone." Tails told him.
"He's right. I can't even count how many times we all had to avoid fans that want more than just wanting my autograph." Sonic added, shaking his head. "But that doesn't meant we still can't be friends."
"Yeah, being famous isn't fun, but being with friends is." Amy agreed.
"It's okay to feel that way, Mr. Yacker. I was like that too once." Cream added. with Cheese chirping in agreement.
"It isn't your fault. Sometimes fans would do anything to meet their idols." Star reassured warmly.
Despite still feeling guilty over this and even the other Wisps, realizing now fully like Ghostly, and even Speed and Cutie, felt terrible in having half-wishing in keeping Sonic and Tails forever when they knew fully it was wrong, Yacker nodded in gratitude, thanking his friends of Mobius.
"And Yacker's Mom, it's okay if you felt that way too. Everybody gets like that sometimes with friends." The blue hedgehog added as he gazed up at the giant mother, who gazed warmly at the young Mobian within her grasp, thankful for his kindness, feeling terrible in tightening her grip slightly, enjoying the moment of holding Sonic and wanting to never let him go.
She resisted the feeling that holding Sonic within her clutches gave the giant Mother the advantage in making sure he would stay, and she would actually get to keep him. Especially with his friends on the ground and on her head would be saddened and heart broken to never see him again. It was even worse when Spirit and the Wisps that were following were doing everything they can to make sure she and Yacker would give into their desires in keeping Sonic forever.
The Mother Wisp gently stroked him on the head again which made Sonic chuckle before placing him on top of her head alongside Sun and Knuckles who both shifted a little to make room for their friend.
"You okay, Sonic?" Sun asked, concerned.
"Y-Yeah. I think so." Sonic muttered, before asking. "How'd she found you guys?"
"We were making sure those Food Monsters didn't get through the portal and suddenly all of that disappeared. Figured that you managed to set things right." Knuckles explained.
"Yeah, I had to fight a giant Pizza Monster, and managed to get one of the Lunania Comet Shards from that thing. That's how Sweet Mountain turned back to normal." The blue hedgehog shrugged, which only made the two other Mobians blink, bewildered.
In the meantime, the other Wisps then used their powers to levitate Tails, Amy, Star, Cream and Cheese who all yelped as they were then floated up and at the giant Wisp's warm blessing, placed the four other Mobians and little Chao on top of her head with Sonic, Knuckles and Sun.
"(All are welcome as friends, as a thank you for saving my little ones.)" The Mother Wisp told the friends of Sonic and Tails, who along with the others except for Sun and Knuckles who just smirked, beamed in.
"Wow, thank you, Mother Wisp! And, it's no big deal. Friends of Sonic and Tails are friends of ours too." Amy replied with a bright warm smile.
"Thanks, Mother Wisp!" Tails said happily.
"Hey, Yacker's Mom..." Sonic began softly, his expression becoming sad once again as he gently rubbed the giant mother on the head. "I'm really sorry about Spirit."
He felt so terrible despite that no one was blaming him. The blue hedgehog knew he had to make things right, remembering what Spirit told him and how to fix this.
"You will find the rest of the Comet's shards, and encounter each of us. If you find all of them, close the portals and defeat the monsters that appear from the shard's powers, come and find me on the deserted empty planet for the final game, and if you win, then everything will go back to normal."
Narrowing his eyes with determination, Sonic vowed. "But I will save him and turn him and the other Wisps of the Mischief Five back to normal. I promise."
All of his friends gazed at the blue hedgehog and despite being worried about him, they could see that the spark of courage, bravery, adventurous and determination rise up within his emerald green eyes, knowing that even though his guilt was still there, Sonic refused to give up.
"(Thank you, Sonic. And again, I do not blame you. You should not blame yourself for what has happened. You have a gentle soul and strong heart within you.)" The Mother Wisp replied, and Sonic smiled back, almost reverting back to his old self.
Sonic nodded, before gazing at his friends and announced. "We should head back to the Blue Typhoon and get going. Gotta find the rest of those shards and turn all the other worlds back to normal."
He then sighed and shrugged a little sadly. "Though I guess we'll have come back next time for a visit. I was kinda hoping in heading over to the giant Ice Cream again."
"Oh, Sonic..." Amy giggled, giving her boyfriend a playful glare. "You do know that you're not meant to play with food."
"Oh, really? 'Cause I remember in playing with the Pizza Monster in the most epic Food Fight ever." Sonic gave his girlfriend a sly smile, prompting most of his friends to laugh while Sun scoffed and Knuckles rolled his eyes, but they still smile in somewhat relief.
"(I shall take you to your what you call a ship. You will need to rest before you continue your journey.)" The Mother Wisp offered, surprising the Mobians and Chao who gave her their thanks and as she told them to hang on, she and her children then flew away from the area and across Sweet Mountain, giving her passengers a birdseye view of the world itself.
"Wow! This is really fun!" Cream exclaimed excitedly.
"Chao, chao!" Cheese squeaked in agreement.
"And look at Sweet Mountain! It looks so pretty and delicious!" Amy added, her eyes twinkling.
"It's great to see the world back to it's normal state." Tails beamed happily, pointing at one part he and Yacker recognized. "There's the giant chocolate wall!"
"Wow! I like this version of the world better than what we've come to." Star murmured in awe.
"I gotta admit, it does have a nicer feeling than the giant Jelly Castle we were locked up in for a little while." Sun confessed as he relaxed.
"It's like every little kid's dream come true, as long as they don't eat too much of it." Knuckles said, still not all that interested in it.
Sonic smiled with content at the sight of the world. This was the world he remembered from his previous visit. The world made of sugar, the one where he began to hallucinate Chip, sharing sweet memories, both figuratively and literally, with Tails and Yacker, even though he had a close call with the giant Blue Berry Pie. It was a relief to see the world back the way it was, with the giant lollipops, the giant chocolate, cookies, honey tea, cakes, licorich, the huge lakes of milkshakes, gingerbread and-
"Hey!" The blue hedgehog exclaimed excitedly, pointing to the left which caught everyone else attentions. "There's the giant bowl of Ice Cream I told you guys about!"
True to his words, the very same bowl of ice cream, the same as ever and somehow not melting and still fresh, was there. The vanilla flavored ice cream. Needless to say that most of his friends were stunned in awe at the giant sweetness that some of began to feel a little bit hungry. In fact, some of the Wisps, a Rocket Wisp and a couple of White and Drill Wisps were unable to help themselves and squealed in delight before diving down despite Yacker and Lily's protests.
The small excited aliens dove and began licking and eating away at the ice cream, savoring at the sweetness which made the Mother Wisp stop.
"(I guess they couldn't help themselves and wanted to have some.)" Speed remarked, waving his arms.
"(Oh, this isn't the time for this! We have to go.)" Lily scowled in annoyance, folding her arms.
"I'm with her on that one." Sun nodded in agreement.
Yet no one was that surprised when Sonic, unable to resist himself despite the timing, stood up and said as he felt his inner child once again surge. "Aw, c'mon, we gotta have a little bit of fun before we leave."
He then prepared himself to jump and cheekily cried out. "Last one's a rotten Eggman!" The blue hedgehog then leaped and dove towards the giant ice cream himself, hollaring. "Yaaahooooooooo!"
"H-hey, Sonic! Wait up!" Tails, despite feeling like he should scold his older brother, followed after him, with Cream and Cheese deciding that they wanted to have fun as well and did the same.
"Hey, wait up!" Amy cried out, following, before giggling. "Oh, why not? You better watch out, because here I come!"
Even Speed decided to join in on the fun and flew after his friends, along with other Wisps who wanted to play as well, while Ghostly and Cutie shared glances before giggling and ultimately joined in. Lily sighed while Yacker laughed along with Star and the Mother Wisp, and Sun and Knuckles both just smirked at the immaturely of the blue hedgehog.
"Sonic's sixteen now and he's still acting like he's a little kid." The seventeen year old echidna shook his head in faux exasperation.
"Well, I guess he really doesn't want to grow up just yet." The former Werehog chuckled.
"Yeah, he mentioned something like that once." The guardian of the Master Emerald shrugged.
The Mother Wisp just beamed a warm expression as by the time Sonic and the others landed in the giant ice cream while careful not to stay still for long and get stuck, they all began having some ice cream and enjoying some of it's sweetness before playing ice-cream ball fight, a spoof of a snowball fight, making ice cream angels despite getting dirty, but they didn't care, and even attempted to make ice-cream men with the help of the Wisps' Hyper-Go-On powers.
"C'mon, guys. Let's go play too." Star insisted, standing up and pulled both her own boyfriend and the red echidna over.
"Hey, whoa! S-Star!" Sun yelped.
"Oh no! There's no way I'm playing with food, thanks!" Knuckles grunted, only to find himself and two of his friends levitating once more, and realized that Yacker and Ghostly, who along with Cutie was tugging Lily to join them, were using their powers to bring them off of their mother's head. "Hey! Put me down! C'mon, Mrs. Wisp! Do something!"
"(Do be careful, children, and have fun.)" The Mother Wisp teasingly told them, deciding to let the youngsters play before their departure.
Knuckles continued to protest, while Sonic and the others noticed him and the others joining them before an idea formed in the blue hedgehog's head. He grinned cheekily, formatting his plan.
"Well, guess we're here so I might as well join in on the fun." Sun shrugged, sighing while shaking his head. 'What did I get myself into this time?'
"Sonic, what are you doing?" Tails asked curiously as he noticed his big brother's smirk while the older Mobian was making another ice cream ball, only for the teenager to shush him and pointed at the older teenager of the group.
Getting the idea despite that it would make Knuckles angry, the nine year old cub couldn't help but giggle, before deciding to play along and called out. "Hey, Knuckles. I know that you're worried, but I think we should take a bit of a break for a little bit."
"Yeah, Knuckles, sure you don't wanna play? You're only young once, after all." Sonic added.
"You guys going on ahead. I'm getting off of this ice cream." The Guardian waved off, attempting to walk away.
"All right then...if you say so. It's a pity since you never get to have any kind of fun. I bet you can't even hit me with a snowball, let alone an ice cream ball." Sonic said with a sly smile. "What, with you being a slow poke."
"Here we go again..." Amy giggled in exasperation, before adding. "You really are such a party pooper. I thought you had fun at Sonic's birthday party a few weeks ago, besides what happened with the Time Eater and Cormain."
"You really should relax a little more...unless you don't believe in having fun." Star added.
That made Knuckles quickly aggravated the more his friends talked, before he gritted his teeth. Of course he had fun at Sonic's party, admittedly, the crazy space-time adventure aside. In fact, he had fun going on adventures with Sonic and Tails in defeating Dr. Eggman. As much he did want to get this over and done with, the chance in beating Sonic at his own game was too hard to resist.
"Hey, Sun! Think fast!" Sonic called out, tossing the ice cream ball at his former clone's direction, causing Sun to cry and duck...
"I know how to-"
SPLAT!
Knuckles was cut off when the ice cream hit him on the face, covering it in the melting icy cream of sugar, making everyone stop what they were doing. In fact, he just stood there, siezing up as the sugary sweetness melted from his face, revealing his angry expression. This made Sonic and his friends sweat drop nervously that maybe they went over the line this time.
"Uh, on second thought, maybe I over did it a little-"
SPLAT!
Sonic didn't get the chance to finish as he was distracted with worry and fear, hit right in the face by Knuckles who had used this to his advantage to get his sweet revenge. The blue hedgehog had cried out in alarm and blinked blankly for a moment.
"Heh heh heh heh heh...Be careful what you wish for, hedgehog." Knuckles grinned, making another ice cream ball of his own, ready for another attack. "Because you might be in for a sticky situation."
Realizing that his plan worked and that his friend was up for the challenge, Sonic shook and wiped the ice cream off of his face and smirked in excitement, quickly making another ball and declared. "Bring it on, Knucklehead!"
It soon became a full out ice cream ball fight as Sonic and Knuckles dodged and tossed to win this fun fight, and soon everyone, realizing that this was helping the red echidna to relax a little, joined in on the fun and eventually even laughing as they played around while the Mother Wisp watched them all play after an adventure of craziness of this world and back in Mobius briefly. Not to mention that it was also bringing Sonic out of his guilt-trip and being his normal, happy self, feeling much better already.
Seeing them so happy despite what is happening made the giant mother alien happy, before she sighed and gazed up at the sky in worry, thinking about why Spirit would go as far.
'(Oh, Spirit...What has the lingering malovence done to you?)' She thought to herself, as like Knuckles, she knew what has happened.
The Mother Wisp could only hope that Sonic would bring her child back to his senses and understand what he is doing.
A little while later after exhausting themselves out of playing and eating the giant Ice Cream, Sonic and his friends had finally returned to the Blue Typhoon where it remained intact, and all got inside to take a much needed shower and bath to clean themselves up. Once that was done and after explaining to Knuckles and Sun about what happened with Spirit, they stood outside on the ship's deck where they heard the Mother Wisp make her announcement.
Some of the Wisps that were rescued decided to remain on Sweet Mountain for a while longer in case there was more trouble, while the rest except for Yacker, Ghostly, Speed, Cutie and Lily who decided to remain with Sonic's group, all said their farewells to return home to Planet Wisp as they messed being home.
"You sure you wanna go out there to find Spirit and the others all by yourself?" Sonic asked in concern, his arms folded to his chest in worry.
"(Yes. I want to ensure that he and what they now call themselves the Mischief Five do not force you to give up on the test, Sonic. I wish you wouldn't be forced into this for the sake of the universe.)" The Mother Wisp nodded.
"I think I have an idea what happened to him, considering it's been three weeks. It can't be a coincidence." Knuckles spoke up seriously.
"(So do I, young Knuckles. I hope you will all be safe on your journey.)" The giant mother agreed.
"We hope that you will be okay too, Mother Wisp. We've been looking for you and been really worried." Tails responded with concern.
"(I will be fine, little ones. You take care of each other and my children.)" The Mother Wisp reassured, turning her gaze to Sonic and added. "(And Sonic...)"
"Hm?" The blue hedgehog murmured.
"(Never forget of who you are, or what you have learned. Everything will be alright, and please, do not blame yourself. You are still young, and still growing. You shouldn't hold the burden all on your own.)" The giant alien requested.
Sonic's eyes widened in stunned awe at his friends' mother's words, which brought back several memories of the lessons he did learn from his friends, including Chip, and even Mnyambo, whom he did manage to visit last week finally to give him his thanks for the support and wisdom five months ago. Even though he still felt responsible for what happened, he knew that he couldn't change the past.
He just had to make sure nothing else went wrong and fix up the mess.
The cobalt teenager nodded with a warm soft smile. "Thanks, Yacker's Mom. I wish you and my mother could meet. Bet you two would make great friends."
"Maybe when this is all over, we can all bring our families with us to visit Planet Wisp." Tails suggested.
"That sounds like fun!" Amy agreed happily, as did almost everyone else.
"Sounds good to me. It'll be like a family vacation." Sonic smirked, liking the idea, turning back to the Mother Wisp and said. "If that's okay with you."
"(I would be delighted, Sonic and Tails. You and your friends and families are welcome anytime you want.)" She nodded in agreement, gently caressing the two young heroes who laughed and giggled and did the same to the other Mobians who did the same, and carefully tickled Cheese who laughed, loving it. "(We will meet again, young ones.)"
"Right." Sonic nodded, as he and his group waved a goodbye to the Mother Wisp who flew away, vanishing as she left Sweet Mountain to continue her own investiation. Once she was gone, he sighed and frowned a little.
"Sonic, are you okay?" Amy asked, as she and the others noticed this.
"Yeah, I'm okay. At least I think so." The blue hedgehog nodded, looking away slightly as he rubbed his right arm, before quickly realizing he was doing it again and shook himself out of it. He had already cried earlier and he couldn't afford to do it again. Plus there was still the challenge he had to go through in order to return things back to normal.
Taking a deep breath, Sonic then declared with determination. "C'mon, guys. Let's head over to the next world and find the rest of the Wisps and those shards. I'm ready to take on Spirit's challenge!"
Even though his friends and family were worried about him, they knew that he was right and all headed back inside the Blue Typhoon. Though the hero of Mobius paused as he turned to gaze up at the sky.
'I'll find a way to make you understand, Spirit, and save you and the Mischief Five before you turn dark. I promise. Just please, don't let those desires overcome you.' Sonic thought to himself, knowing that he had to make this count in order to set things right and make sure to restore the harmony, peace and happiness of the Wisps.
Once he did, the blue hedgehog hurried back inside and it wasn't long before Tails piloted the Blue Typhoon to lift off of the sweet ground and flew away from Sweet Mountain, leaving the planet behind and back into space.
Where Sonic and his friends would head over to the next world and fully take up on Spirit's challenge to return everything back to normal.
A/N: As much as I had hoped that the next world would have been revealed in this chapter, I attempted to make this as light-heartened as possible despite what Sonic and his friends have learned and what the hero of Mobius was going through. So now they know of who the five aliens are and what has happened to Spirit who along with four others call themselves the Mischief Five, a more lighter and less deadly versions of the Deadly Six.
Now it's onward to the next world, and I think the future worlds won't be as long as Sweet Mountain was. I will give you a hint on where the next destination will be; it's something that will put Sonic's gift from Tails into a good use once again. I'll try and update this again as soon as possible.
