When Lorelai woke up she noticed Spencer wasn't in bed anymore. She got up and went out to the kitchen where he was drinking a coffee and reading the newspaper.
"Hey." She said
"Hey. You sleep well?" He asked
"Not bad," Lorelai said making herself some tea.
She sat with him. "I have to tell you something." She said
Spencer put down the paper and looked at her.
"I don't think the rib popped out because the baby is growing. Actually, I know that's not the reason. I felt it pop when I picked up the box…" Lorelai said
Spencer crossed his arms. "Oh. I see."
Lorelai looked down.
"Lorelai. I'm not happy with you right now." He said
"I understand." She said
"This isn't going to work if you're not honest with me." He said.
"I'm sorry. I will work on it." She said
Spencer sighed and nodded. He got up and went over to her and put his hand out.
Lorelai took his hand and stood up. He led her back to the bedroom. "With this knowledge, I am going to deal with you." He said
Lorelai nodded.
"I want you over the bed." He said
Lorelai nodded and did as she was told propping herself up on a couple of pillows to make sure she wasn't putting too much extra pressure on her belly. This was the first time Spencer was dealing with her. And they were both nervous.
Spencer smacked her butt a couple of dozen times. He lectured while he did. "Until it is deemed safe by the doctor you will not be lifting anything heavier than twenty pounds. You will not lie to me again. I am done with you lying to me. Especially when it has to do with your health and safety or the health and safety of this baby. This is a partnership and your lying makes me think you don't trust me."
Lorelai sobbed before long. Not because it was all that painful but because she had hurt him. And put her baby at risk. The baby that she had wanted so badly.
"I'm sorry." She sobbed out.
Spencer was done he sat down and pulled her to sit in his lap and held her as she sobbed. He pushed the hair out of her face as she calmed. "You okay?" he asked
Lorelai nodded. "I'm really sorry. It won't happen again."
Spencer nodded and kissed her head.
"I didn't go too hard did I?" Spencer asked
Lorelai shook her head. "No. I don't want you to think it wasn't effective because it was, but it wasn't hard at all. Your disappointment hurt me more."
Spencer nodded. "I didn't want to go too hard. And since we have never done that before, and you are pregnant I just erred on the side of caution."
Lorelai nodded. "Well, it was enough."
Spencer just held her. Eventually, they laid back down in bed together and just cuddled before falling back asleep.
