Authors note: This chapter has discussions of god and religion. It is not meant to offend anyone of any faith or belief. The beliefs of the characters are not necessarily in line with what the author believes. This is just how I think these characters would fall in their faith beliefs.

The next day they slept in. It had been a while since they had a day that they could. When they got up they got dressed. Lorelai had picked out a mustard yellow knee-length dress for the occasion. It had long sleeves. Spencer put on a pair of grey pants and a mustard yellow sweater. Lorelai had picked it out and he knew better than to argue.

They went to meet with the photographer at the location they had picked. It was a clearing in a forest nearby. With the fall colors on the trees, it was perfect. They had an hour with the photographer. When they were done they thanked her, and Spencer made sure she was paid before they went out to the car. Lorelai sat down kicking off her shoes.

"I told you to pick different shoes," Spencer said

"Yes and?" Lorelai said

"Nothing dear," Spencer said with a smile

Lorelai smiled.

"Would you like to go get lunch? I know you haven't eaten anything yet." Spencer said

Lorelai smiled and nodded. "BLT sounds good."

"That baby knows what she likes doesn't she," Spencer said.

Lorelai chuckled and nodded.

They went to a local diner and were seated quickly. Lorelai looked around. It was getting busy as the lunch hour came in. She looked at the menu but knew what she wanted already. Spencer made his decision and they put in the order.

"How are you feeling?" Spencer asked

"I'm feeling pretty good. Very pregnant that's for sure." Lorelai said, "How about you?"

"I'm feeling good but I'm not growing another human." He said

Lorelai smiled. "Except for being sick for four months straight I have quite enjoyed the pregnancy. Don't get me wrong I'm ready for her to make her way out but women often feel one of two ways hate being pregnant or love it and I guess I love it."

Spencer nodded. "Good. Have you thought any more about the middle name?"

"Well, we have the three and I don't want to offend someone by picking the wrong one." Lorelai said, "And we're not giving her three middle names that just seems like child abuse." She said

Spencer chuckled. "I don't disagree with that."

"We could just give her a first name?" Spencer suggested

"I mean we could, but I want to honor the people who have impacted my life. Maybe since I picked the first name you should pick the middle." Lorelai said

"Ha. No. We are deciding together." Spencer said

"Becca asked who the godparents were going to be. I retorted with who says we are picking any." Lorelai said

"I guess that is something we haven't discussed," Spencer said

"I know you are Henry and Michael's godfather. But I don't know if you wanted to pick godparents for our kids." Lorelai said

"What is your opinion?" Spencer asked

"I don't know. I mean the traditional purpose of godparents is to help the child grow toward god. And my opinion on religion and god is kind of…." Lorelai said

"Confusing?" Spencer offered

"To say the least." Lorelai said, "And I don't really know your beliefs outside of science."

"I do believe in science. But a person can believe in both." Spencer pointed out

"Yes. This is true." Lorelai said. "Were you raised in religion?"

"My parents were not. My paternal grandmother was a devout Christian. She taught me a lot before she passed when I was young." Spencer said. "Was there religion in the foster home?"

"She used to say she was going to put the fear of god in us. That's about as close as it came." Lorelai said

Spencer nodded. "Do you believe in god?"

"I don't know. With the things, I have seen. The things I have experienced. It's hard to believe that if there is a god he is this all-powerful good being." Lorelai said. "But after the dream I had. I just… am confused." Lorelai said. "But if you wanted to have our daughter and future children baptized I wouldn't stand in the way of that. Or if you want to pick godparents." Lorelai said

"Well, when it comes to me being god-father to JJ's boys it has nothing to do with religion." He said

"I realize that, but they did have all their kids baptized," Lorelai said

"Yes, they did," Spencer said. "But to me being their godfather is just being an extra person there to lead them down the right path in life. Whatever that is." Spencer said

"So more like a guide parent?" Lorelai sad

Spencer nodded. "I do like that term."

"So, we can pick guide parents?" Lorelai suggested

Spencer smiled and nodded

"If you could pick one whom would you pick?" Lorelai asked

"Derek. He's the closest thing I have to a brother." Spencer said

Lorelai nodded. "That's kind of who I figured you would pick. Would you want JJ as well?"

"Generally, each parent picks one," Spencer said with a smile.

"I mean Becca would probably be my choice, to be honest," Lorelai said

"Derek and Becca then," Spencer said with a smile.

"That maybe makes middle name easier. If she is the guide parent we can pick someone else to honor with the middle name." Lorelai said

Spencer nodded. "I mean that does work."

"I do think that since the first name is honoring someone who meant something to me that honoring someone you choose. And since one of the names, we had in mind is Jennifer." Lorelai said

"Hailey Jennifer Reid," Spencer said

Lorelai smiled and nodded. "I think that is perfect."

Spencer smiled and nodded.

Their food was brought to them, and they ate.

They finished up and paid before they headed out. Spencer dropped Lorelai off at home before he left to head to the office. There was a case, and he was asked if he could come to join them. They were done with what they had to do for the day, so he went.
