The next two weeks went by very slowly for Lorelai. She had reached the point in the pregnancy where she was too big to do just about anything. She had packed the hospital bag. Done the last-minute shopping. Made sure everything was put away in the nursery or the small cart next to the bassinet in her and Spencer's room. They were ready for the baby to come.

She had arranged to get lunch with her cousin and sister one afternoon. She was glad that the two of them had gotten to know each other and were best friends. Rachel and Kara had, had a bit of a falling out before Kara went off to college and Rachel needed some more friends anyways.

The three of them met up at a restaurant in town and sat down.

"How are you?" Lorelai asked them both.

Rachel smiled. "I'm good. Been busy but good."

Hannah smiled. "Same. The workload is just getting bigger every day."

"A double major is a lot of work," Lorelai said

"Says the one who did a double major. Worked a job and kept a household running." Rachel said

"Yeah. I barely remember any of that because I was so burnt out. It is not worth it. A double major is plenty." Lorelai said

"Shit. You did all that?" Hannah said

"Yeah. And it didn't end well. Trust me a double major is a lot of work already." Lorelai said

Hannah nodded. "I couldn't work if I wanted to. My dad says no. He wants me to focus on school hence my parents paying for everything."

Lorelai nodded. "You're lucky you have that support. Don't take it for granted."

"You have a ton of support too," Hannah said.

"I do now yes. But when I was doing the double major and everything. I was the support for everyone else. Only was able to do the double major because I had scholarships and loans." Lorelai said

"I thought it was all scholarships," Rachel said

"Nope. When I graduated I was heavily in debt." Lorelai said

"Does dad know that?" Rachel asked

"Yup. He tried to pay it off for me." Lorelai said

Rachel chuckled. "Tried?"

Lorelai smiled and started to tell the story.

*flashback*

Lorelai was sitting on the couch in Aaron's apartment reading. She had been staying there for just a couple of weeks. Aaron came into the living room with a stack of mail. "You got something in the mail." He said handing her an envelope from a student loan company.

Lorelai took it and nodded. "Thanks." She said

"That's a loan company. What are they sending you mail for?" Aaron asked

Lorelai looked up and smiled. "Because I owe them money."

"What? When did you get a loan?" He asked

"For school. I got some scholarships but needed a loan to cover the rest." Lorelai said

"I see," Aaron said. "Do you mind if I ask you how much you owe?"

Lorelai opened the envelope and showed him the exact amount on the document.

"I have paid a lot of it off already," Lorelai said showing him how much she had owed in the beginning.

Aaron nodded. "I can help you pay it off. "

Lorelai shook her head. "No."

"Come on. I would cover the costs of college for Jack. Let me help you pay off what is owed." Aaron said

"I appreciate that. I really do. But no. I can pay it off. A lot faster now that I don't even have rent and other expenses since I was forced to move out of my apartment." Lorelai said

Aaron sighed. "There wasn't a choice."

"I know you think that," Lorelai said.

"I think that huh? The law doesn't state you couldn't live on your own? Unless you're emancipated." Aaron said

"No one needed to know," Lorelai said.

"I'm not going to argue about it. The fact of the matter is you are a minor. Legally you needed a guardian. I don't want to hear anything about it. If you don't want the help with the student loan I won't force it but know the offer is there." Aaron said

Lorelai nodded a bit and didn't say anything else.

*end flashback*

"So, you didn't let him help?" Rachel asked

"Nope. And I have paid it off. Only about a year after that it was paid off." Lorelai said

Hannah had listened to the conversation. "I have to admit I am grateful I don't have to work to pay for school or anything. And that my whole focus can be on school."

They ordered their food and ate. When they were done Lorelai paid the bill not giving her sister and cousin a chance to argue.

Afterward, the three of them went back to Lorelai's place to just hang out and talk as they drove to Lorelai's place it was beginning to flurry. She smiled. Winter wasn't her favorite season but the snow falling was beautiful.
