It was the afternoon. Chiba and Itsuki ask for the second years to meet with them after school. They were sitting on a wooden table located away from the main streets of the town, with the second years on one side and Chiba and Itsuki on the other.
Itsuki: A member of my tribe is also a [Host], and I have meet her along with her [Kizuna] before.
Chiba: As for me, my family is pretty close with µ's, so I had the chance to meet their [Kizuna] plenty of times.
Itsuki: So when I first saw Chika, I knew straight away that there was something off. After the incident from before, I was most certain.
Riko: That makes sense. In any case, we're sorry for keeping this from both of you, but we're weren't sure how our country would act.
Chiba: Don't worry about it. I understand how it is.
Riko: So what's going to happen?
Chiba: For the time being, I have no desire to report this to my tribe. Although it would be a different story if the secret came out, so make sure to keep a low profile.
Itsuki: In the first place, the [Kizuna] are an independent entity that is not constrained by humans or anyone else. More importantly, we have a more serious issue right now.
Chika: W-What is it?
Chiba: Riko. I am sure you are aware of the two methods for a person to be able to bring out their aura at will.
Riko: Hm. I know about it… D-Don't tell me?!
When the Hyou realizes something, she quickly looks at Chika and You using [Scan]. Seeing their friend with a solemn expression made Chika and You worried.
Chika: What is it, Riko-chan?
Riko: It's just as I feared. Your pores are opened!
Chika/You: Pores?
Chiba: Normally, the human body leaks out a low, but constant amount of aura. Using aura involves carefully opening the pores where the aura comes out, usually through training, but sometimes they can be forcibly opened.
Itsuki: It may be because you both became a [Host] only recently that this is happening.
You: Is that bad?
Itsuki: If the leakage of aura becomes untreated, your body will have negative effects from the loss in aura. In the worst case, you could die.
Chika: D-Die?!
You: W-W-What should we do?
The two Inu hug each other while looking at the others with frightened expressions.
Itsuki: We need to stabilize your aura until you can properly control your aura flow. Chika, if you please come here.
Chika: O-Ok.
The Inu went around the table to where Itsuki was.
Itsuki: Now turn around.
As Chika turns to where her back is facing Itsuki, He abruptly lifts the shirt up from Inu's back, exposing her bare back.
Chika: Kya!
The Shika then proceeds to touch certain parts of Chika's back with the tip of his fingers, explicating indiscernible noises from the Inu.
Chika: Hya!
You: C-Chika-chan!
Don't mind him too much. This is how he normally works, Chiba said with a wry smile.
I see what you mean, Riko said with a dejected expression.
After less than minute, Itsuki was done with his session, pulling the shirt back down.
Itsuki: There, that should stem the leakage of aura. How do you feel, Chika?
Chika: Hm? I was actually feeling really tired today, but now I feel better.
Chiba: Now, it's You's turn.
When the Shika look at the Inu, You was hiding behind Riko's back, staring intensely at him.
You: I-Is this the only way?
Her first experience left a deep impression of the Shika. While acknowledging Itsuki as an ally, You was still wary of the Shika.
Itsuki blinks slowly a few times, then turns his attention to Riko.
Itsuki: Now that I think about it, aren't you also familiar with stabilizing a person's aura points, Riko?
Riko: Yeah, my mentor taught me how.
Itsuki: Then you should also be able to help your friends in case if me or Chiba are not here.

Eh?! Why me? Riko said, surprised from the unexpected proposal.
Chiba: You were taught how to properly use with aura.
Itsuki: Also, it would be best for them to learn someone of a similar age.
Chika: That is a great idea! We were asking Riko for help anyway.
You: Please take care of us, Riko-sensei.
Riko: Even if you call me that, I never taught anyone before.
Chika: It will be fine. I just know it.
You: You do have a way to make things easy to understand.
The two girls smile while Riko showed a wry smile.
[The Next Day]
The second years were sitting on a pink blanket laying on the grass at a secluded area of the town. It was their first official day of training with aura.
So what's the first thing we are doing? Target practice? Practice battles? Chika said while holding back her excitement.
Since this is first time you two are experiencing with aura, we need to know more about them. For that, we will use water test, Riko said.
Chika: A test from the start?! You are a strict teacher, Riko-sensei.
Riko: This is pretty standard in my country.
You: water test? That should be a breeze!
In front of Chika and You, Riko gently places onto the blanket a glass cup filled with water and a tiny green leaf floating on the water surface.
This looks really boring, Chika said with a disappointed expression.
Chika-chan. Please, put both your hands around the cup like you are holding it, Riko said while ignoring the Inu's whining.
Chika: I don't get what we are doing, but Ok!
The Inu did what Riko said while You looks with anticipation.
Riko: Now close your eyes and try to focus your aura into the cup.
You: And how does this help?
Riko: Just watch.
Chika comply, remembering what she did while she was fighting with Kaga. After a few seconds of silence,
You: Wah! C-Chika, Look!
When Chika opens her eyes, she saw that the water was overflowing forcefully from the cup, soaking the blanket, causing her to quickly retract her hands from the cup.
Chika: Ah! What it this?
Riko: So Chika is a Booster.
Chika: Booster?
There are three aura types that each person has, Riko said while bringing up three fingers. The water test will show your most compatible type, so we can get a better of what will work for you. As an example, Chika-chan's main type is Booster, which focuses using aura within the body.
Chika: Just because I made the water move out of the cup?
Riko: Exactly.
You: Is that so? let me try!
Riko gives the cup, where You imitate what Chika did.
Chika: Oh! The leaf is moving without being touched.
True to her words, the leaf was moving in an unnatural motion around the water surface from the cup.
You: It really is, but what does that mean?
Riko: It means that You chan's main type is manipulator. Those who are manipulators can change their surroundings.
You: Manipulator?! That doesn't sound good at all!
Riko: It really depends on what you do with it. For example….
After You remove her hands from the cup, Riko hovers her right hand slightly above over the cup. Making a grabbing motion with her hand, the water in the cup seemingly flow towards her hand.
While moving her hand away from the cup, the water seemingly flows in the air until it is formed into a floating sphere, hovering over the Hyou's hand. As she moves her hand, the water flow in turn.
Chika: Ah!
You: That's amazing!
Riko chucks the water sphere over her left shoulder, where landed in the grass with a splash.
Riko: Like I said, it takes time to use it properly, but you be surprised what people can do.
Chika: And what is Riko-chan's type?
Riko: My main type is transmutter, I am able to change the attribute of my aura.
You: Is that why you can shoot fireballs from your hands?
Riko: That's correct.
After finishing the water test, Riko lecture on breathing exercises and mediation practices to regulate their aura flow for the rest of the day.
Yoshiko: I can't believe you didn't invited Yohane! I am part of Aqours as well.
The next day, the 9 girls gather in an area where the second years talked about their training during meeting with Chiba and Itsuki. Along with them were Kaga and Kyono, who were resting underneath the table.
Riko: It is important that I work with Chika-chan and You-chan individually. They are making good progress.
One thing that Riko have noticed in her group is that distractions are very common, especially when there is more people.
Chika: That's because Riko is a great teacher.
You: I am glad that things are going smoothly.
Riko: But it's only going to get harder from now on.
Chika: Everything will be alright as long as we support each other.
?: It's nice to see such youthful energy.
Suddenly, an unfamiliar deep voice interrupts their conversation, putting the girls on alert.
Riko: Who is there?!
Kanan: From up there?
Noticing sounds coming and leaves falling from above, the girls look up.
Everyone back away from the table when a small figure jumps from the tree and lands gently on the table.
As they get a good look at the newcomer….
Dia: A cat?
The newcomer was a cat with orange fur and light brown stripes, its eyes seemingly close. What was interesting was that it was standing straight on its back legs and had two tails.
While the girls of Uchiura were astonished by the appearance of the cat, Riko realizes instantly.
Riko: You're Mutsu, I take it?
Mutsu: That is correct.
It's a talking cat!
Everyone but Riko were surprised of their visitor.
Hearing the commotion, Kaga and Kyono went from under the table to see what's happening.
Chika: Riko-chan you know this talking cat?
Riko: I do, this is..
Mutsu: It's nice to meet everyone. I am the cat [Kizuna], Mutsu.
Mutsu bends its head forward, making a small bow.
Mari: My! A real gentleman!
Kanan: Wait. Did it say [Kizuna]?
Riko: Yes, Mutsu is a [Kizuna] from my country.
The Hyou has met with some of Taishu's friends, so she recognize the cat.
Once the girls relaxed, they gather around Mutsu.
Ruby: Wah! It's so cute!
Hanamaru: Looks like a real nekotama, zura.
Yoshiko: This is first time Yohane is meeting such a spirit.
The first years were gushing over, their hands touching all over the [Kizuna]'s fur and body.
Dia: Calm down everyone.
Mari: Dia's right, Let Mari have her turn.
Kanan: I don't think that's what she meant.
Mutsu: Don't worry. I don't mind.
You: That said, you are much smaller than Taishu-san.
Mutsu: I prefer being small. It has its perks.
Riko: So, what brings you here all of a sudden?
Mutsu: I heard from Taishu about the situation in this country and I was curious, so I came for a visit.
Kaga: So you're a [Kizuna] from the country of Mori. I am Kaga. This is Kyono, my friend.
Kyono: Tofu!
Mutsu: So you are the [Kizuna] of Uchiura that Taishu was talking about. You are much younger than I thought.
Riko: Really?
Well, now that we finish out introductions, let's get to main event, Mutsu said, putting a red cap with a white fluff at the tip out of a small pocket and putting it on its head. As a guest on this land, I have come bearing gifts, you can call me Santa-Paws.
Chika: Really?! That's so nice of you!
Riko: Gifts?
Mutsu: To start things off…
Reaching into its small pouch in the middle of its stomach area, Mutsu bought out one after another a round striped green fruit until there was a pile of them.
Ruby: There was that many in his pocket.
Yoshiko: To see an interdimensional pocket in the flesh.
Hanamaru: That's amazing, zura!
Riko: This is… the fruit from the Kiseki Tree.
Mutsu: That's correct. For humans, it's a delicious fruit, but for [Kizuna], it provide a power boost to some extent.
You don't say? Kaga said with an impressed look.
Mutsu then brings out a small knife and uses it to slice one of the fruits in half, revealing a light purple flesh inside with several black seeds. The fruit halves are further divided in crescent slices.
Mutsu: Have a taste.
Both the girls and the [Kizuna] of Uchira sample the fruit.
Chika: It's so delicious!
Kanan: It's so fresh and crisp.
Dia: It definitely taste different than what I have before.
Riko: Thank you, Mutsu.
While Aqours was eating by the slice, Both Kaga and Kyono starts munching on some of the fruits whole.
Kaga: It does feels like some energy is flowing into my body.
Literally, both [Kizuna]'s body was glowing their respective colors.
Kyono: Tofu!
Mutsu: After eating a number of them, it won't have the same as the first new time.
Kaga: Really? Well, it taste good anyway.
While the girls finish on their snack, Mutsu was bringing out item after item, some of them unfamiliar to the girls of Uchiura. After arranging several items on the table, the [Kizuna] stood there proudly in front of the girls.
Mutsu: With this, Welcome to the Mutsu's General Store. Come one, Come all!
Riko: I heard from Sensei that you are operating as a merchant.
Mutsu: Yep. Oh, which reminds me.
The [Kizuna] reach into its pocket and pulls out a….
Riko: A notepad?
Mutsu: It's a request pad, a specialty item. When you write something on the pad, the message will transmit to another notepad. With this, you can place an order for goods from Mori, which will be delivered when me or one of my friends come to visit.
Chika: Really?!
Hanamaru: That truly is Mirai Zura.
After receiving the pad, the Hyou notices a number of glass bottles, each filled with different colored liquid.
Riko: That's a lot of potions you have there.
Kanan: Potions?
Mutsu: These are used to restore a person's energy. They come in handy when training and fighting. I have grape, strawberry, and cherry flavor.
Riko: Then, give me a few of each.
Roger, Mutsu said, as Riko and the [Kizuna] shuffle the goods around, with Riko collecting several bottles of potions to her side.
You: Then, what is this?
The item that Inu was pointing at was a simple lanyard with various bead-like objects looped into a circle.
Mutsu: This is a protection bracelet.
Ruby: How does it work?
Mutsu: To give an example, imagine a giant boulder falling towards you. With this, it will protect by taking damage in your place. The larger the percentage, the more rare and expensive they are. The ones I am showing you provides 50% damage.
Riko: That sounds impressive. Did you make these yourselves?
Mutsu: Of course, I also have them in a rainbow of colors. If you want, you can have one.
Mutsu shuffle its paw, revealing an array of bracelets of different colors.
Chika: Oh! I want the orange one.
Ruby: This pink one looks pretty.
Riko: In that case, can I have a pink one as well?
Kanan: That green one looks nice.
You: Then, I will take the blue one.
Hanamaru: I want the yellow one, zura.
Dia: Then, a red one for me.
Mari: I will take the purple, please.
Yoshiko: Hey! Where is the grey.. Oh wait, there it is.
Mutsu: Thank you for your patronage.
After going through the goods, a question came to the Hyou's mind.
Riko: So how much will this cost?
Mutsu: There is no cost.
Chika: The best kind!
Riko: Eh?! Is that ok?
Mutsu: You humans are doing your best to help this country. We, [Kizuna] of Mori, will help support your efforts.
Riko: And we appreciate your help. You have already done so much for us. I wish we could give something…. Chika, you wouldn't have any mikans with you?
Riko-chan. I think the question is when do I not have mikan? Chika said with confidence, holding out a mikan that was not there before.
Ignoring the joke from Chika, Riko takes a mikan out of Chika's hand and presents it to the [Kizuna].
Riko: Mutsu-san. Please take some mikan as a thank you for coming today.
Oh, really? Mutsu said, accepting and holding the fruit close to its face. This is the first time seeing this fruit. We don't have them in the Country of Mori.
Well, in that case, take as much as you want! Chika said with glee as she brought out mikans that seem to come out of nowhere.
In seconds, the [Kizuna] was buried in a pile of mikans, leaving only its ears visible.
Riko: Chika-chan!
Chika: I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
Mutsu: That's fine. Actually, I would like to make goods from them.
Chika: Really?!
Riko: If you like, we can test your products as well.
Mutsu: Thank you. I will take up on your offer in the future.
Mutsu was done stuffing all the mikan into his pockets when its ears perked up.
Mutsu: Riko. Your bag is glowing.
Riko: Eh?
More precisely, a bright red light was shining from a certain bracelet.
Riko: This is bad.
The girls and [Kizuna] follow the direction from the bracelet.
Near the east side, they saw a familiar presence. They were the ones they saw when they first met Kaga.
Mutsu: So this is the enemy that Taishi was talking about.
Riko: We met a lot of different enemies. This is just one of them.
Mutsu: Then, Let me handle them.
Riko: M-Mutsu-san?
Mutsu: It's been awhile since I had some fun.
Before Riko could say anything else, the cat [Kizuna] disappear from their side.
Hearing sounds from the opposite side, the girls could see Mutsu's figure engaging the enemy, slashing at them with a small knife.
Kanan: So fast!
You: So strong.
Mutsu then starts spinning its body, so fast that it looked like a top. From the center, knives seems to shoot out at the enemy hordes, precisely striking at between their eyes.
Mari: Wow. Mutsu is such a brute!
Yoshiko: As expected from an emissary from Mori.
After all the enemies were defeated and there were no signs of resprawling, Mutsu went back to the girls.
Mutsu: This kind of thing is practice for me. But it's as Taishi said. They really are different.
Chika: That was so amazing!
Riko: Chika-chan. We've been through enough that nothing should surprise us by now.
Chika: Nonsense! There will always new surprises!
You: Chika-chan does have a point.
Eventually, Mutsu returns to the country of Mori through the gate in the ruins.
[Few Days Later]
Riko: So what did you wanted to talk about?
The nine girls were at the beach area where Riko and Chiba did their practice sessions.
When Kaga asked to meet with him, they didn't know what to expect.
Seeing you three talking and learning got me thinking, Kaga said with crossed arms. Since we are going to be fighting together, then it's best if we should share information about us.
Tofu, Kyono agreed with a nod.
Riko: When you say information….
Kaga: For example, our abilities.
Riko: I see. Like how Kyono is a [Kizuna] of 'Ice' just as Kaga is a [Kizuna] of 'Fire'. I wonder if elemental powers are normal for you guys.
Ele…mental? Kaga said, tilting its head.
Yeah. Besides fire and ice, there is water, thunder, wind, earth, wood,…. Riko said, counting with her fingers. What else is there?
Yoshiko: Light and darkness. Yohane is very familiar with those two and the other elementals.
Chika: So does that mean that your other friends will have different powers?
Kaga: I guess although I have not heard of the stuff you just said.
While the [Kizuna] were able to speak human language, they are not familiar with some words as well as written language.
Kaga: You guys already know what I can do from our fights, so this time is Kyono's turn. Show them.
Kyono: Tofu!
Moving slightly away from the girls, Kyono face them when its body starts expanding like a balloon in a pulsing interval.
Hanamaru: What's going on, zura?!
By the time the girls' shock ward off, Kyono was nearly half the size when it first appeared.
Riko: I guess it's not surprising since [Kizuna] can change their size and shape.
Dia: You did say that, but to see it like that is amazing.
Kaga hops onto the center of Kyono's back.
Kaga: Let's go Kyono!
Kyono: Tofu!
In a liftoff, Kyono was flying in the air with Kaga on its back. They went away from the girls and made several maneuvers including flying alongside the waves of the ocean.
You: That's so cool!
After a few rounds, the two return to the girls.
Landing on soft sand, Kaga gets off Kyono's back.
You: So what next?
Kaga: Actually, I was wondering how many of you guys Kyono can carry with ease.
Riko: So you want us get on Kyono's back?
Kaga: That's right. This may come in handy when we are moving to different places.
Dia: It's true that it would be easier.
While the other girls were figuring how to do so, Riko makes the first move, approaching the [Kizuna] while removing her shoes and socks. The Hyou carefully climbs onto the hovering manta ray's back, its skin was solid, but rubbery to the touch of her feet. Riko felt balanced despite the [Kizuna] floating inches from the ground.
Seeing that made some of the girls excited.
Chika: I want to go on next!
You: me too!
One by one, the girls boarded the [Kizuna], leaving Hanamaru, Dia and Ruby still on the ground. It was Hanamaru's turn.
Hanamaru: Doku..so
The moment Hanamaru planted both feet on Kyono, the [Kizuna] suddenly struggles to keep itself, eventually landed on its stomach on the sand with a loud thud.
Kyono: TOFU!
Everyone on Kyono: Wha!
Ruby: Pigi!
The girls on top of Kyono was caught off by the sudden movement.
Riko: Everybody ok?!
Kanan: We're fine, but what just happened?
Kaga: I guess six is the limit that Kyono can handle?
Yoshiko: Zuramaru! That was you, wasn't it!
Hanamaru: I-It was not me, zura!
After everybody gets off from the [Kizuna], Kyono returns back to its small self.
Kaga: Next, I want to see if my Kouhai can perform [Fusion] with You. When I told Kyono about my [Fusion] with Chika, Kyono didn't believe me at all.
Unlike Chika, You didn't had the chance to fight alongside her [Kizuna].
Kaga: Kyono learns best by seeing others do it. With that said, Chika. If you don't mind.
Chika: Of course. Anything for a friend.
Facing each other, Kaga and Chika grasps each other's opposite hand, which lead to an orange light blanketing them.
After the transformation, Chika was sporting her [Fusion] form.
Tofu! Kyono was surprised and excited by the site.
Kaga: See. I told you so.
As Kaga was gloating, his friend looked around the Inu's body to get a better look.
Chika: T-This is kinda embarrassing, having someone looking at me like this.
Riko: Now you know how I feel sometimes.
After dispersing from their [Fusion], Kaga looks at Kyono.
Kaga: Now it's your turn, Kyono.
Kyono: Tofu! Tofu?
The [Kizuna] looks You with an eager expression.
You: Yoshi! Let's do this!
Kyono fly into You's arms while the Inu embraces the [Kizuna] in a hug.
A light blue light engulfs the two. When they were done, the other girls gasp.
You was wearing a flurry light-blue dress with heels and a small crown on his head, giving the impression of a mermaid princess. You opens her slowly eyes, and seeing her friends' face, then looks at the nearby clear water puddle to see her reflection.
You: …This is me?
Chika: So pretty!
Riko: It does suit You-chan.
You: Somehow, I feel power surging in me.
Kaga: You should be able to Kyono's power as well.
You: Is that so?
Looking at her hands, You concentrates her aura into her palms. Ice crystals starts to form and the temperature around her starts to drop.
Yoshiko: So cold!
Realizing that she was making the others uncomfortable, she break from her concentration.
You: Ah! S-Sorry.
After watching You and Kyono separate, a thought came to the Hyou.
Riko: You said that you have done [Fusion], so does that mean you have performed [Fusion] with your friends?
Of course, Kaga said.
Chika: Oh! I want to see that, too.
Kaga: Well, I suppose showing you once wouldn't hurt. You up for one more time before we're done, Kyono?
Kyono: Tofu!
The two moved away from the girls and from each other until. Kaga was standing on one side and Kyono was on the other.
Kaga: Let's go!
Kyono: Tofu!
The two start sprinting towards each other.
Before they collide, Kaga jumps above Kyono, placing one of its hand on Kyono's back.
Their bodies glowed their respective colors upon contact, which shoot up, twisting with each other until it became one.
In front of the girls, a giant frog-like creature with dull blue-purple skin emerges, standing on two legs. It was roughly three times of the size of an adult human.
There was also a layer of ice forming on its back.
Even though the girls have experience seeing usual creatures, they were still surprised by the unexpected form.
?: We're not done just yet!
A raspy voice came from the frog as it held out its right arm.
The girls could see ice coming out from the hand, forming into what looked like a giant shuriken made of ice.
Using its legs to crouch down, the [Kizuna] jumps in the air.
Facing the ocean while midair, the [Kizuna] throws the weapon with gusto.
?: Ha!
As it travels, the spinning blade reaches and make contact with a large wave, splitting it in half and freezing it in the process.
After doing its job, the shuriken spins back to the frog's direction, where it is easily grabbed by the creature's other arm.
Gravity returns the [Kizuna] down to earth, the ground shook as they land.
?: How was that?
Taking their speechless expression as an answer, the big [Kizuna] immediately split into their separate forms.
After all the excitement from today, the girls decided to call it a day and return home.
[Later that Night]
Hm hm hm hm hm
You was humming a happy tune as she was making a drawing on a sketch pad. After the information session from afternoon and seeing her outfit from her [Fusion] with Kyono, You was struck with inspiration.
Noticing how quiet her room, she look around.
You: Hm? Where did Kyono go?
?: You.
Hearing, she saw her dad opening the door to her room with a confused expression.
You: Papa? What's wrong?
The Inu places her sketchbook on the bed.
Papa: Actually….I found this thing floating around the house.
The male holds in his hand the tail of Kyono, with the [Kizuna] hanging upside down with swirling eyes.
Kyono: Tofuuuuu
Ah! You said in a voice higher than usual.
Mama: So, what is this thing?
You was facing her parents on the opposite side of the dining room table.
You: It's not a thing. Its name is Kyono and it…..followed me home.
You was figuring out how to explain to her folks about the seemingly floating aquatic creature.
Kyono was lying on its stomach in the middle of the tabletop, silently observing them talking, until papa reach out and gently pick up the ray and hold it close to his face, much to You's dismay.
You: Papa?
Papa: ….You were the one from that day.
Mama: Dear?
While her mother didn't understand, You's face paled.
Papa: When my ship was under attack, a giant creature came out nowhere and saved me and my crew. Before I could find out who it was, it disappeared.
You: T-That's…. How do you even know if Kyono is the same as the one you saw?
Papa flip over the [Kizuna] and look at its back.
Papa: My captain's senses tell me. You look much smaller, but there is no mistake.
Now that the secret is out, there was only one thing that You could at this point.
Papa! Mama! Please! Can Kyono stay with us? I promise I will take care of Kyono, You said before bowing her head slightly on the table and putting her hands together. I beg of you! You can't tell anyone about this!
Seeing their daughter in a panic, her parents were surprised.
