The scene showed darkness.
Boom!
The view showed a lightening blue sky up above. And then the faces of the Titans appeared in the view.
"Aw, dude." Beast Boy said in disgust.
"What is that smell?" Adam asked while plugging his nose.
The view shifted to show down below. It looked like a lab of sorts. Island tables rested in the middle of the room, covered in a large layer of dust. Large, grimy, and empty-looking tanks stood tall on all sides of the room. Tanks that went from the floor almost all the way to the ceiling.
A fine layer of dust covered everything except around the tanks, which did look like they'd been powered and maintained.
"I have the feeling the moths might not be the here," Starfire said glumly.
"You sure we want to waste our time down there, Rob?" Cyborg asked unsurely.
"I looked it up and found out that Killer Moth was released from jail two months ago. So either he was the one that released all those moths, or somebody else released them." Robin said seriously. "Let's see if we can find out who."
The Titans looked at each other unsurely but walked down the dusty stairs into the lab. Cyborg put a hand to his nose.
"Yo, can I turn off my nose? It smells like something died down here… or something." Cyborg said. His shoulder light was illuminating the parts of the room the outside sun didn't get from the attic doors behind them.
"Beast Boy's laundry still smells worse than this." Raven dryly said.
"... fair point." Cyborg grinned widely as the green boy pouted.
"Hey!"
The Titans spread out, looking around throughout the room. Starfire lifted up the tables to look underneath. Raven cleared off dust with her powers to see if anything was hidden.
Adam examined a line of shelves nearby. "I'm pretty sure whoever this Killer Moth is didn't use these shelves for books." He said. Pointing to the large dreary looking canisters resting on them. All of them were empty.
Beast Boy stared into one of the tanks. "Dude, how could those moths want to live in something like this? It's disgusting."
The inside of the tank just looked plain nasty.
"I could ask that about your bedroom." Raven again quipped dryly.
Beast Boy rolled his eyes and grumbled to himself. "Whatever dude."
"You're just walking into all of her jabs today," Adam said with an eyebrow perked up. "Maybe you should apologize for your comment earlier?"
"What? I meant it when I said no one is hotter than her." Beast Boy replied with some frustration in his tone.
"But wouldn't you think what you said before that was still insensitive?" Adam asked.
…
Beast Boy sighed. "Yeah, it was." He looked up at Raven again, who had moved to the other side of the room. "I'll apologize to her."
"Good… speaking of other things, she is right. You really should clean your room." Adam said.
Beast Boy's eyes boggled at him, and the Titan shrugged. "I nearly passed out from the stench last time I walked by. At the very least, you could plug in an air freshener near your door so the rest of us don't have to smell it."
Beast Boy began to glare at him. Then, he turned around and walked to another part of the room.
Cyborg smirked. "Wow. It's like he's becoming more like Rae with each passing day." Cyborg said humorously.
Adam smirked too. "Maybe Raven should start saying dude so we can all think of this as the two rubbing off on each other." He said.
Both he and Cyborg started to snicker.
Slap! Slap! "Holy mamma!" "Holy fetch!"
Adam and Cyborg held the back of their stinging heads. The anime showed large, bulging, pulsing, and red hand-shaped imprints where they'd been slapped.
The view showed the two dark ethereal hands disappear from the air. Raven floated on by them with a small smirk on her face. "Dudes, you would do a lot better if you would just keep your mouths shut," Raven said blandly.
…
Cyborg and Adam looked at each other in surprise. Then the two of them smiled widely. "Did she?" Cyborg asked.
"Oh yeah," Adam said.
The two fist-bumped.
…
After a moment, Robin held up a fist. "I think I found something." He said as he gestured over to the other Titans.
The others stopped their activities and came forward. Their footsteps trailed in all the dust on the ground.
The view showed them come to a stop behind Robin, who pointed down at the ground.
There was a trail of footsteps on the ground. Leading from a door to the room, to the edge of the island, and back. The imprint of a body was also in the dust. Along with the imprints of several other items.
Below next to the body imprint, was a lever. Robin reached out and pulled the lever back up.
Whump! Whump! Whump!
The tops of the tanks closed back down again. Within seconds, they were sealed back up, and the horrid smell in the air began to thankfully dissipate.
Robin frowned to himself. "Well, we know how they got out now… question is, who was it that let them out?"
"Hmmm…" Cyborg looked over the body imprint left in the dust on the floor from multiple different angles. He pulled out a magnifying glass, putting it to his robot eye. His robot eye then extended from his head, scanning the area from the same angles as before.
"Well, that definitely wasn't left by Killer Moth," Cyborg said as his eye returned to normal. "The impression left in the dust is way too small to be his."
"If it wasn't the Killer Moth, then who?" Starfire asked.
Robin opened his mouth to speak.
(T-Comm Sound)
Robin was cut off by the sound of his communicator going off. He pulled it out of his pocket quickly. "Unknown caller?"
The Titans gathered around him as he opened it, and-
"Yoohoo!"
Robin's eyes boggled to the size of saucers.
"No way!" Beast Boy said angrily.
"Not her again," Raven grumbled.
"Um… who's that?" Adam asked confusedly.
"Mreow. Now that isn't the way to greet a long-time frenemy now, is it?" Kitten asked on the screen.
The scene faded to black…
The view showed the T-Tower again. The sun was high up in the afternoon sky. With a picture of calmness on the small waves of the bay.
The view moved to the Common Room. The Titans were standing in a side-by-side line with Robin, facing the TV screen.
"There, now that you all aren't messing around in my old house and home anymore, we can talk," Kitten said with all the eloquence of a rich and spoiled brat.
Robin frowned deeply. "What did you do with all the moths?" He asked.
Kitten put her hand to her chest. "Ah, Robbie-Poo! Don't you want to chat like old times?"
Robin clenched a fist at his side. A vein visibly bulged on his forehead. "What, did, you, do, with, the, moths?" He asked again.
"My, so untrusting! You couldn't possibly mean that I might be controlling the moths with-" Kitten pulled a remote from behind her. "- this now. Would you?" She asked with a childish giggle.
…
Robin looked closely at it. His frown deepened even more. The other Titans frowned as well.
And Adam continued to stand there, looking confused about who they were talking to. But he didn't look to like her any more than the others.
"What is it you want this time?" Robin asked.
Kitten smirked at them through the screen and put her hands on her hips. "You know, I'm so happy you asked that now!"
"Would you just get to the point already!? Some of us have lost sleep over this!" Cyborg said angrily.
"Sleep? It's been a while since I was able to eat." Beast Boy held a hand to his stomach.
Blurrrrrrr…
He patted his stomach. "There there, I'll get some nice steamed tofu for you soon enough."
Raven wisely did not comment on his antics this time around.
"Awwww. Somebody sounds a little cranky this morning." Kitten said in a teasing tone to the robotic Titan.
"Go over twenty-four hours without sleep and then get back to us you spoiled brat," Raven said dryly.
Kitten scrunched her face a little bit in displeasure. And then her smile came back onto it.
"What I want, is a special date for this year's special Senior Prom. That should be fine after you Titans ruined the last one and all." Kitten finally said, a bit of an edge in her tone.
Starfire's fiery face immediately filled up almost the entirety of the view. Her green eyes blazed with energy. "You will not be doing the dating of MY boyfriend you perverted, self-centered daughter of a Gliznorb!" She screeched in anger.
…
"Gliznorb?" Adam asked.
"You don't want to know," Robin replied.
The view showed Kitten calmly pushing Starfire's face away from her screen so she could be seen again. Surprisingly, she didn't even look fazed. "Calm down, I don't even want your Robbie-Poo… not this time, at least," Kitten said with a casual smirk.
Starfire's face shrank the rest of the way back down to normal. "Oh." She said in surprise.
"Yeah, Robbie-Poo is sooooooooo last year." Kitten waved her hand as she drawled.
Robin stepped forward. He looked confused, yet extremely relieved. You could see all the tension leave his body all at once. "Who do you want to be your date then if it isn't me?" He asked.
Kitten immediately pointed her finger. "Him!"
…
The Titans all turned towards Adam. He looked surprised.
"Me?" He asked in confusion, pointing at himself.
Kitten giggled to herself. "Yes, I want the new hero people all over the city have been talking about as my date!" She said with happiness in her voice.
To prove her point, she put an article from her phone onto the screen. The title of it was plain to see, along with the picture beneath it.
The newest member of the Teen Titans saves young families with ease! Read for more about Jump City's latest Hero!
The picture was of the young woman from earlier hugging Adam. His eyes were still the size of saucers in the photo.
…
The view showed Adam again. His left eyebrow was twitching.
"Uh… not to say I'm not relieved by this. Hell, I am SO happy it isn't me right now." Robin stressed the word just to make sure he didn't send the wrong message. "But why Adam?"
"Because he's so freaking cute and hot all in the same package!" Kitten squealed excitedly.
Adam should have felt complimented by that. However, right after she spoke, Kitten pulled something out from the side.
"Yo, what the!" Cyborg fell backward behind the couch, cutting off the rest of his words. But the other Titans stared in absolute horror.
Kitten was grasping a body doll. It was dressed in Adam's clothes. And a picture of Adam was tacked to its face.
"It's made to his size, and he's just the perfect height for me and everything!" Kitten squealed happily.
"..." Adam's left eyebrow stopped twitching. But he'd also stopped breathing.
Beast Boy waved a hand in front of his face. But the young hero didn't react at all.
"Wha…" Even Robin looked like he'd been thrown for a loop.
"When I was released several months ago, I thought I'd finally be able to make my Robbie-Poo doll as I'd planned. But when I came back, I saw Addy-Poo in action for the first time and it was love at first sight!" Kitten screeched with glee. "He's just so perfect and dreamy!"
"..." That was far from the truth. But no one was brave enough to speak in the face of such craziness.
Especially when they saw the lipstick marks all over the picture and the clothes the body doll was wearing.
"I'll be expecting him to meet me in three hours at Muramaki High School! And he better look his best, or else the city gets it!" Kitten said while waving the remote in her hands and laughing to herself.
The transmission then cut out without another word.
…
…
The view showed all the Titans. A couple of them blinked their eyes again and again.
"Did that really just happen?" Beast Boy asked.
"I'm not sure…" Even Raven looked conflicted about what they'd just witnessed.
All the Titans looked at Adam. Who still had yet to make a sound.
"Friend Adam?"
…
…
Nrrrrrr…
He started to lean forward, and the sound of heavy creaking filled the room.
Crash!
Adam fell face-first onto the floor, completely passed out as the over-the-top sound effect sounded out from the impact.
"He's not breathing! We need a medic!" Beast Boy, suddenly dressed in a nurse's uniform, yelled at his metallic best friend as walked up, also dressed in a doctor's uniform.
"Stand back!" Cyborg rubbed his hands together after Beast Boy flipped Adam over, then rested them on Adam's chest. "Clear!"
Zap!
He sent a strong shock through the young man's chest.
"Ack!" Adam suddenly sat up, breathing in and out heavily.
Cyborg grinned widely. "We're good! He's back with us!"
"Hell yeah, dude!" Beast Boy fist-bumped Cyborg excitedly.
Unfortunately, Adam did not look happy, at all. "What the fetch?! Was all that real?! Did she pull out a doll that looked like me?!"
"Unfortunately…" Raven muttered.
"Anddddd... she wants you to take her to prom." Robin then said.
…
Cyborg and Beast Boy lost their uniforms. They moved to stand in front of Adam alongside the others.
He looked at them all…
And then it was like it finally clicked. "Oh fetch no! No no no no NO! I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS!" Adam said angrily as he turned around to leave the room.
The view shifted, showing Robin appear in front of him to cut him off. "Believe me, I know how you're feeling right now. She made me go to prom with her last year..." He shuddered after he'd spoken as if he was being tortured by some unknown memory. "But we don't really have any choice."
"I don't care! I am NOT doing this!" Adam tried to push past his leader, only for Cyborg's hand to grip his shoulder.
"Uh, I'd support you man, but if you don't go, she kind of promised to unleash that swarm of moths back on the city again." Cyborg pointed out.
…
It was silent. Robin walked up to the control console. He pressed a few keys, and then a map of the city and outlying area appeared over it. A large red area was shown outside in a forest towards the mountains, where the moths had last been spotted.
"While Adam is distracting Kitten, we could locate the swarm and make sure Kitten can't unleash them again!"
"But-" Adam tried to complain, but a black band appeared over his mouth. He struggled to whine.
"I have some nets in my workshop. I made them, especially in case this scenario ever happened again!" Cyborg said with a thumbs up and a grin.
"Why didn't you pull them out earlier, Chrome Dome?!" Beast Boy asked angrily.
"Because I never had time to go grab them, short stack!" Cyborg replied heatedly.
"HEY!" All attention returned to Adam again as he managed to get Raven's gag off. "I still haven't agreed to go along with this fetching charade!"
"Well… Unless you would rather Kitten made the swarm eat up the city because you didn't show up for one date." Robin said bluntly.
"That's..." Adam sputtered for a moment. He looked torn.
"Here, let's compromise. Beast Boy and Raven will be there undercover as backup. Just in case Kitten tries anything… drastic." Robin shuddered, again looking like he was being tortured by some memory.
"You're not helping me feel better about this." Adam shook in terror.
Robin nodded. "Trust me, it's not a good experience. I had videos of what she did… but I deleted them because they were too traumatizing." Robin admitted.
Adam paled further. He looked to be on the verge of passing out again.
"What do you mean, by undercover?" Raven asked with a raised eyebrow.
"You'll find out soon enough," Robin answered vaguely. The half-demoness glared at Robin, but he gave no response.
"So me, Star, and Cyborg will go to where the swarm is located. We'll see if we can trap them with Cyborg's nets or something and keep your date to an hour." Robin said. "Sounds simple enough for us to accomplish."
…
Adam moaned in agony. "This is going to be the worst day of my fetching life."
Robin smirked. "Hey, look at it this way. At least you'll have two good friends who'll be watching your back. I only had one back then." Robin said lightly.
"But I was the best backup ever," Starfire said cheerfully.
Robin grinned at his girlfriend. "Indeed, you were."
He then looked back at Adam again with a serious look on his face. "Remember, as Titans, we sometimes have to make sacrifices to help others out. I'm sorry to ask so much of you, but it's better to do this and save lives than to not lend a hand at all."
The view showed Adam continuing to look tortured as he crossed his arms…
The view around Adam changed. He still looked tortured, and his arms were still crossed.
He was now dressed in a nice tuxedo. He had a gold-colored tie around his neck, and a gold handkerchief poking from the front pocket of his tuxedo. His dark brown hair was combed back and gelled.
He actually looked pretty darn good…
If he stopped looking like he was meeting the grim reaper, that is.
"This sucks. Of all the freaking dirty things he could have done to convince me to do this. He had to pull the fetching guilt card on me." Adam said to himself.
He turned around from the mirror and up to his nightstand. A file with a picture of Kitten on it rested there. He'd already read through it at least three times, wanting to know what he was getting into.
If worse came to worst, he could hope for this Fang figure mentioned to be her boyfriend to show up and put him out of his misery.
Finally, he walked through his wide-open door into the hallway. Beast Boy and Raven were already outside, waiting for him.
"Took you long enough dude." Beast Boy said. He was dressed in a white shirt and dress pants. He had a green tie around his neck. His skin was white, his hair was blonde, and his eyes were blue. He also didn't have fangs, pointed ears, or claws. Courtesy of the holo-rings on the ring fingers of his hands.
"I'm going to kill that bird boy," Raven said through gritted teeth.
She pulled uncomfortably on her purple dress. It wrapped around her shoulders, and the fabric went all the way down to her ankles. Though modest, it showed most of her arms and didn't have a hood for her to hide her head under.
Her skin was a pale white. Her hair was dark black and in a small ponytail. Lastly, her eyes were brown. Also courtesy of the holo-rings on her ring fingers.
She didn't look very happy to be out of uniform.
"If you kill him, I'll help with hiding the body," Adam said seriously.
"Thanks."
(T-Comm sound)
Raven opened her T-Comm. Robin was shown on the screen. "This is Robin. Just checking to see if you all were ready for the date with the devil or not?" Robin asked.
"You know I'm capable of punishing you with Outer Perdition for this, right?" Raven asked bitingly.
"I already know what it looks like there." Robin didn't even look fazed. "We're near where the swarm's supposed to be. We'll see if we can disable them before Kitten can use them to destroy the city… or force Adam home with her. For now, remember to try and keep Kitten happy and unaware." Robin said.
"Wait, WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY-"
Beast Boy appeared behind Raven's shoulders, pushing Adam out of the way. "No probs Cap! We'll keep lover boy here from running away from his date with destiny!" Beast Boy said as he put a hand on Adam's shoulder.
"I swear if you keep teasing me about this I'm going to turn into a fetching villain!" Adam promised.
Robin nodded his head. "Good luck. Trust me, you're really going to need it." Robin said to Adam. Then the screen turned off.
…
Raven closed her T-Comm and sighed. "Well, I guess there's no putting it off any longer." She said.
She opened a dark portal in front of them. And steeled herself to go out in public.
"Can't we just… you know, drive there so it takes longer?" Adam asked hopefully.
Beast Boy gripped Adam by the shoulders, helping to answer that question. "Remember dude, while we're in disguise, we're your friends Garfield and Rachel. Good luck!"
"Wait-" Adam didn't get any more out before he was pushed through the inky black portal.
The view showed the outside of Muramaki High School. Cars were lined up on the street next to it, with cute-looking girls and their dates from all around coming out of the cars. They talked excitedly with each other as they headed towards the wide-open doors of the building.
The view focused under a tree. No one was visible nearby…
A dark portal opened up next to the trunk, and Adam came tumbling out feet first onto the grass. He was followed by Garfield and Rachel before the portal closed behind them.
At the very least, he didn't fall flat on his face and ruin his outfit in the process.
Unfortunately, he was there to stay.
Adam looked around uncomfortably as they walked onto the sidewalk together.
"How do you think we'll know when Kitten arrives-" Adam started to say.
"Yoohoo! Oh, Addy-poo!" A shrill voice yelled.
Before Adam could turn, Kitten had already appeared on the scene. She grabbed Adam by the wrist from behind, catching him and his friends off guard.
"Come on! The prom's already started! Now is the perfect time to be fashionably late!" Kitten yelled excitedly as she immediately dragged Adam quickly off to the doors of the building.
He mouthed 'help! Me!' to Garfield and Rachel, just before he was dragged into the school at the speed of sound.
...
"... Wow, it only took ten seconds before Robin's prediction came true. I almost feel a little bad for the poor dude." Beast Boy said in an amused tone.
Rachel shrugged. "I'd almost feel bad for him if I wasn't forced to be here in this," Raven said as she pointed out her dress.
Garfield laughed as he took one of her hands. "Come on, you look great!" He told her as they started to walk to the doors. Getting in line with the other couples.
Rachel glared at him. "Not, in, public." Was all she gritted out.
"Whatever Rae. You know you can't use your powers now without blowing our cover." Garfield replied with a smirk. "And besides, we're not Titans right now. It's just Gar and Rae. Two teenagers who're here to dance and have fun."
…
A red blush appeared on Rachel's cheeks. Something that not even the holo-rings could disguise.
"You're going to pay for this," Rachel said again through gritted teeth.
"And I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts," Garfield replied happily.
The following scenes happened without any sound save it be some ridiculous background music.
The view showed Adam dragged to the punch bowl table. He grabbed two prefilled cups, one for himself, and one for Kitten, whom he gave the second cup to.
She downed the first one, stopping her mouth for just a few seconds. But as Adam raised his cup to his lips, she suddenly grabbed him by the wrist again, pointing to another part of the prom before pulling him after her.
Adam might have been screaming, but it was hard to tell.
His cup of punch spun in the air for a few seconds, then almost came crashing down, only to be caught by Garfield, who offered it to Rachel with a smile.
Rachel, though calm-faced, accepted it with a small smirk and began to drink while Garfield drank from another cup.
The view then showed a photographer, getting ready to take pictures of a generic cute couple who'd arrived for the prom.
Said generic cute couple was then pushed out of the way by Kitten, who was yelling something at them. The couple quickly fled in terror, and then Kitten grinned widely as she sat herself and Adam down in the chairs meant for the previous couple.
The photographer, who'd been surprised, merely shrugged as he took several pictures of them in a row.
Kitten's facial expressions changed with each shot. From happy, to ecstatic, to attempting to kiss Adam next to her.
Adam's facial expressions went from dead-eyed to suspicion, to terror in trying to keep Kitten off of him.
After the picture session, Kitten dragged her 'date' by the wrist behind her once again to another part of the prom. Adam looked thoroughly traumatized by the experience.
Garfield and Rachel, who'd followed the pair, stopped briefly in the two seats to get a picture of their own.
Garfield was shown smiling widely in the photo, and even Rachel had a small smile on her face.
Garfield paid for the picture, and then they continued on after Adam, who was now being thrown around on the dance floor by Kitten.
Poor couples all around were knocked out of the way by Kitten's unintentional weaponization of the young Titan. Who looked ready to die by this point.
Rachel and Garfield looked at the scene, then at each other, and then sweatdropped before deciding to sit at a nearby table to observe.
Adam's mouth was open during the dance part… but that was probably because he was still screaming.
The scene slowly faded to black.
The scene came back into view, showing a lot of bushes. It appeared to be getting dark out.
Ksh! Ksh!
Robin appeared from the bushes. He pushed the branches out of the way and then held up a flashlight to light the darkening woods. He looked around himself.
"Stay alert. The map placed the moth swarm to be somewhere near here." Robin said as he moved forward.
Cyborg and Starfire appeared from around the bushes. Starfire had a fist in the air above her. She held a starbolt in it, which lit the area around her. Cyborg had his shoulder light up, lighting the area in front of him.
As Cyborg turned to look, his shoulder light fell on an eaten-away tree covered in slime. "I don't need no GPS to tell me that." The metal man said in disgust.
The three of them continued to move forward through the forest. There were more trees lying on the ground as they went like the first one Cyborg saw.
"That's really odd," Robin said to himself.
"What's the odd Robin?" Starfire asked.
"Just… I thought there might be some containment unit out here for the moths. But it's like they have free range instead." Robin said.
Starfire nodded her head. "Yes, they do seem to be doing the eating away at a lot of the forest around here." She said.
Robin was silent after that. But he held a frown on his face. "It doesn't make any sen-" He started to say.
Kckchch!
"Whoa!" Robin said as the Earth in front of him fell forward.
Starfire's hand quickly grabbed Robin by the collar and kept him from falling down the ridge he had almost stepped off of. "Richard!" Starfire said worriedly as she pulled Robin back to the safety of the hard ground.
Robin breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you, Star," Robin said gratefully.
The view around them showed a lot more of the eaten-away trees. But they couldn't see what was down below under the area of the ridge.
"Cyborg, can you cast some light down there?" Robin asked.
Cyborg got to the edge of the ridge and then pointed his shoulder light down. The view showed the three Titans' faces from below…
Their eyes all bugged out. "Are they..." Robin said.
"..." Cyborg prepped his arm cannon. It was loaded with netting. "Welp, it's time these creatures met my secret weapon. Booyah!"
The moth swarm flew up into the view.
The scene quickly changed. Showing a bunch of nicely dressed couples in the middle of the dance floor. Some excellent classical music with trumpets was playing in the background from a band as the couples did the waltz together on the dance floor.
The view moved to one of the tables. Adam was sitting next to Kitten…
"And then my daddy became a billionaire after he made advances in the biogenetics industry. Which led to me meeting some great guys like Fang and some other dude with a shark head. But that's a story for another time, so anyways my dad then found out how to make moths better..." Kitten continued to rattle on.
Adam gritted his teeth and tried to bear with it.
The view showed a couple of different couples walking by their table. One of them was the generic cute couple from before.
They stopped, staring in shock at the two, with only Adam noticing them. And even as he opened his mouth to plead for help, the two quickly sped off.
…
"So enough about me, tell me something about you!" Kitten finally finished.
Adam looked to be trying to grind his teeth into powder. An anime storm cloud was gathering over his head. But at her words, Adam looked surprised that he might actually be allowed to speak right now. "Well… um… I guess there isn't much..." Unfortunately, he didn't look to be prepared to speak either.
The band stopped playing for a moment, and then the background music changed. The view showed the couples on the dance floor stop doing the waltz, and moving to something a little bit slower.
The view showed Kitten's eyes widening at the song. "OMG! This is like, one of my favorite slow songs ever!" She squealed in excitement.
Before Adam could react, Kitten got up and grabbed his hand. "C'mon! We have to dance to this one!" Kitten said excitedly, before dragging him off to the dance floor.
"Not again..." Adam groaned in agony.
The view moved back a couple of tables. Showing a rather odd couple sitting together with cups of water in front of them.
"You know, I just thought of something Rae," Garfield said.
Rachel peered from the dance floor to look at him. "Yes, Gar?" She asked.
Garfield chuckled. "Don't you think those two would go well together?" He asked in a joking tone.
…
Rachel's face remained flat. "That would probably be almost as sickening as going on a date with Adonis," Raven said blandly.
Garfield laughed. He almost put his arm around her to draw her close. But restrained himself at the last moment. "Right, not in public." He suddenly said.
Rachel nodded her head. She had a smirk on her face. "So the boy can learn after all." She quipped.
Garfield chuckled next to Rachel. "I still stand by what I said before. We might as well enjoy ourselves while we can."
"I am." Rachel smiled at him. "Adam might not be enjoying this right now. But I can't say that I haven't had a good time with-"
"Hey."
The two of them turned and looked up. A rather well-dressed and good-looking guy had come up behind them. He was smiling down at Rachel.
"What is a beauty like you sitting down here in the back of the room?" He asked.
…
Rachel didn't look back up at him. "I'm not a people person, that's all." She said in a flat tone to try and drive him away.
The guy didn't seem to get the message. "Well how about I take you and me for a spin on the dance floor and make your night." He tried to say enticingly.
"How about, no." Raven again said flatly.
"Was that a yes I heard fall from your precious lips?" The guy asked huskily.
Rachel looked to be getting irritated. "Are you deaf? I said no." Raven again said flatly, with a hint of the irritation she felt.
The guy tried to get close. "Oh come now, playing hard to get is so-" He said as he tried to lean forward into Rachel's personal space.
Oof!
The guy was suddenly pushed back onto his butt. The original background music of the atmosphere around them seemed to pause.
The guy got up, looking angry. But the view showed Garfield glaring down at him. There was something almost primal in the glare that made him freeze up in terror.
"How about you listen to what she said, before I make you listen," Garfield spat, as he put an arm around the surprised Rachel and held her close. She didn't object to the action and instead rested her head on his shoulder.
"Plus, in case you can't tell, she's already mine."
…
The guy grumpily got up on his feet after a moment. The background music returned to normal. "Fine, I'll just go and find somebody else who's actually pretty and willing to dance. Unlike your hag of a 'girlfriend.'" He said angrily before he stormed away.
…
Garfield glared at him for a moment more, before he looked down in concern at Rachel. "You okay Rae?" He asked.
Rachel shrugged. "I'm fine Gar. It's not like he said anything that I haven't gotten before." She said, her voice still flat despite what'd happened.
…
Gar kept his arm around her, a sad look entering his eyes. "If it means anything to you…" A smile slowly grew on his face. "I think you're the best-looking hag I've ever met."
Rachel actually chuckled at his words. "Smooth move Romeo." She quipped sarcastically.
Garfield laughed. "But I don't see you trying to push me away this time." He pointed out.
Rachel rolled her eyes. A blush again was traveling through her cheeks. "Maybe I'm just feeling nice right now."
"You don't mind that I said you were mine?"
"Do you mind if I'm yours?" Rachel asked back.
Garfield continued to laugh, and he kept Rachel close. Rachel had a small smile on her face as she enjoyed the moment…
The view moved back to the other couple in the room.
Well, Kitten was trying to enforce the couple's status quo.
At the very least, she wasn't throwing Adam around haphazardly like before, knocking other couples away and ruining everyone's night.
Still, that did not look like a slow dance. And Adam looked to be tiring out from all the dancing and pulling around he'd been forced to endure.
Seriously, where did this girl get her energy from!?
"I'm starting to think I wasn't much of a dancer in my previous life," Adam muttered to himself.
"What was that Addy-Poo?!" Kitten asked excitedly.
"Will you please stop calling me that?" Adam asked pleadingly.
"Do you want me to unleash the swarm on the city?"
Adam nearly paused in shock. Kitten didn't look so happy then and was looking at him threateningly.
"N… No, of course not." Adam spoke fearfully.
The threatening look around Kitten disappeared, and she grinned widely. "Alright, but I'll need a little persuasion to forgive you."
"Forgive me for what?" Adam almost yelled.
"Eh eh eh, persuade me to forgive you first," Kitten said teasingly.
Adam sputtered like a fish out of water. He had absolutely no idea what to do!
He looked back at Rachel and Garfield for help. But the two were too engrossed in each other to notice his predicament!
He was glad they were bonding right now, but couldn't they save that for when he wasn't in huge trouble!?
"Oh, I know what could make me forgive you."
Adam turned his head back to Kitten.
The view showed her face close-up. Her lips were big and puckered for a piece of that action.
Adam shrank in the view of such audacity. He'd already been turned into a nervous wreck over the course of the date.
But then, just mere seconds after he shrank, a different look entered his eyes.
"No."
The view moved to the side, showing Kitten with normal size features moving her head forward to steal a kiss from Adam.
However, just before contact, Adam raised a hand in front of his lips. Preventing Kitten from taking what she wanted from him.
"Huh?" Kitten pulled back in surprise. Adam had also stopped dancing.
"You know what, fetch this," Adam spoke in a hard tone.
The view then showed him turn around and begin walking off the dance floor.
Kitten sputtered in her spot. Looking absolutely shell-shocked for a few seconds…
"Wait! Adam!"
The view moved over back to the tables. Adam was angrily moving back towards the table he had been sitting at earlier. He definitely had a storm cloud over his head now, and it was cracking lightning inside it.
Adam got back to the table before Kitten finally caught up. "What are you doing?! This isn't how you're supposed to treat a girl on a date!" Kitten said angrily.
In the background, Rachel and Garfield were pulled out of their moment and looked up in surprise at Adam.
Adam turned his head to look at Kitten. "Are you kidding me? I refuse to call this a date any longer! It's not fetching worth it!" Adam said angrily. "I've had far better dates where I'm from than this disaster with a-"
Adam suddenly stopped speaking in surprise. Then, he began to grimace hard again. "Why do I keep almost remembering things only to forget them again!" He looked even angrier compared to before.
Kitten finally recovered from her shock, and then scowled as she pulled a remote from her dress pocket. "Well then, Addy-poo, if you don't want to finish this date then I guess the city will pay the price!" Kitten said, with her hand over the button.
...
"Fine, be my guest,"
The scene faded to black.
