She gathered her blanket in her arms and made sure to grab her coffee mug she placed at the end of her counter. She hated that the kitchen was so far from her comfy couch. Really it did not bother her it was only a moment of discomfort. Sighing as she shuffled her feet her mind went from couch to him. Oh yes him. She truly had no idea when everything had changed with that man. Several months ago, she had lost her husband in an accident and now her mind was on this other man. There were many parts in her that were still confused but she earnestly went from almost dying herself to being fully alive. How could she not. This man was not just any ordinary man. He was the Goblin King.
Sarah sat on her couch and sipped carefully on her hot coffee. Allowing herself to be in her own moment she went back to the day her husband passed.
"Sally I need you to come in and have some lunch!"
Her daughter bounded into the kitchen with mud all over her.
"Oh my darling what has happened?"
"I wanted to be a goblin mommy!" The little child ran around the kitchen softly growling at the cat. As the cat ran away the doorbell rang.
Sarah only could remember seeing the police officers and their sad demeanor. Their voices are muted in her memory. They reached out when she lost her footing and felt faint. After she could stand she just turned and went to her Sally. She grabbed her daughter and muffled into her as the police stood behind her. "Daddy is gone….I am so sorry Daddy is gone." Sarah lifted her eyes and saw the Owl land on the porch in the back yard.
At the burial an owl stayed the whole time and Sarah knew it was him both times. She also knew it was him who took care of all the financial issues she came across that life insurance couldn't cover. She also knew that when she stopped eating for a day, he would be the one to send a delivery from her favorite Chinese restaurant. It wasn't too much nor to little. He never showed up in human form never as Jareth. Now? That a big question. She has been a widow for six months and she was wondering if that was enough time to call him. Everyone from her parents and her brother had an opinion. It was all to much at times and this was no expectation. Another part of her wonders if she has always been somewhat crazy and Jareth…the Labyrinth was never real. The parties and the hang outs with Hoggle couldn't have been fake?
"Hoggle." That is a name she has not said in years. After dating and marrying her husband she didn't call on them. She rubbed her head and scorned herself for letting them all go. Yet her was Jareth in owl form and helping her out. She laughed at herself for talking herself right back into the complete belief in the Labyrinth.
"Should you need us."
Sarah yelled and threw her coffee mug at the mirror above her fireplace.
"Oh I am very happy goblin that was not hot coffee. Taste good though."
"Hoggle?" She rushed over to the mantle and helped him down from the fireplace. "Its really you. Oh its really you!" placing him firmly on the ground she wrapped her arms around him and rocked back and forth. "Oh Hoggle I am so happy you are here!" Tears started to flow from her eyes and she didn't hold back on how it all felt in that moment to hold her old best friend. "Oh hoggle. Thank you."
