Everybody's Got a Hungry Heart

Shego rolled over in bed, not fully awake and hoping she might find Kim beside her. She stretched out a hand and found the other side empty. Snapping awake the older woman cursed herself. "Why in the hell am I dreaming about Kim?" The green woman struggled for an answer. She found more than one. One was that she had been far too long without sex. And Kim was flirting with her. "What's going on... Is she teasing me? Does she want sex too?" Did Kim want a relationship with Shego? Did Shego want a relationship with Kim?

"No way could the two of us have a relationship." Shego told herself. "Anything wrong with no-strings sex? What if she's serious? No way. She's got to know this is impossible too."

And, of course, how do you ask for a night of sex? Come right out with "Hey, Princess, want to get naked and jump in bed with me?" and there was a risk of rejection – maybe this was just an elaborate tease by the redhead. Revenge for past defeats? Was Kim crazy enough to think a relationship could work? Would sex cause visions of sugar plums to dance in the young woman's mind? How did Kim feel about casual sex? Do you try the honest approach – 'Hey, Princess, wanna fuck? I've got no interest in a real relationship'." If she's interested in a relationship should you lie and say you are too? You can be rejected using either approach. How do you handle rejection? "Damn, damn, damn."

Shego headed to the dining room for breakfast, knowing what she wanted, but clueless on how to get it.

Sitting with Kim for breakfast wasn't required, but had started to feel natural. And maybe being nicer to the redhead would improve her chances. "Morning, Cupcake, sleep well?"

"Great. You?"

"Had a nightmare, or maybe it was a dream. You were in bed with me."

Kim giggled, "Kim Possible, the girl dreams are made of. A pleasant dream?"

"A wonderful dream."

While waiting for a waiter to bring the breakfast menu Shego scanned the room. "Hego's still here? I thought he and Drakken would have left for Malta by now."

"They're still in the race."

"No way, they were too many hours behind."

"You went to bed before the leg was over. They were behind. But Hawi and Electronique got lost. Seriously lost. They finally sent someone out to bring them in."

The green woman shrugged, "I may start calling Dumb and Dumber Team Lucky."

"Maybe they'll make it to the finale."

"Pigs will fly first... Still, I'm glad Electronique is being shipped out. I kept looking for her to try and stick a knife in my back."

"Not if she wants to stay free as much as you do."

"I doubt she does. Once she's got the pardon she'll go right back to crime. Bet on it."

"And Drakken?"

"There's a good question. Pretty sure doesn't want to go back to prison, but he's so delusional he's always sure his next plan will work and he'll take over the world."

"And your take on Monkey Fist?"

Shego thought a moment. "I don't know. He's brilliant, and doesn't need to work. I can see him doing archaeology or something just for fun, but I think his monomania is likely to get him in trouble. He just can't stop himself. How about me, Pumpkin? Think I can stay out of jail?"

"You said you wanted to, and I know you can. Whether you will or not... I don't know."

"But you know I can?"

Kim put her hand down on the older woman's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. "I know you can. I hope you do... What are you planning to do?"

"I've got no idea."

Kim grinned, "You're a lot like me. You can do anything you want."

"Or anyone I want?"

"Maybe... What's her name? Trying to make me mad with jealousy?"

"Cupcake, I'm not looking at another woman in this race besides you."

"Which doesn't mean much, we're now the only women left." Kim paused a moment, "So, uh, plans for the day?"

"Well, the way you've attached yourself to me like a leech, I thought I'd spend the day with you. Maybe a little shopping – or maybe sight seeing. How about it?"

"I that's the new nicest thing you've ever said to me. Sure!"

"And your vote is for sight seeing or shopping?"

"Sight seeing. We'd have to carry anything buy. And this is Athens! All kinds of famous stuff happened here!"

In mid afternoon they stopped at a café for mezes and a bottle of ouzo. Kim had a small glass, and didn't care for the anise flavored drink – which was exactly what Shego had counted on.

"I can ask Kim for sex because I've had too much to drink... Maybe I won't even have to ask, she'll try and take advantage of... She's such a girl scout she won't take advantage of me if I'm drunk. Okay, I can't be drunk, I'll just drink enough she'll think it lowered my inhibitions." Not that Shego had any inhibitions left about sleeping with Kim.

"You do know we're racing tomorrow, right?" Kim reminded Shego three-quarters of an hour later.

"Of course I remember. We're eating too."

"You can drink too much while you're eating."

"I can hold my ouzo." Shego giggled and put a hand on Kim's leg. "You want me to hold anything on you?"

"That's it. You've had enough."

"Oh, live a little," Shego pouted. "C'mon, I haven't had that much to drink. You act like you want to get me in bed."

"Yes, but not when you're drunk!"

"Afraid you won't respect me in the morning?"

"No. It's–"

"Are you afraid of me?"

"I'm not afraid of you!"

"Prove it, Cupcake," Shego demanded. She grabbed Kim by the arm and pulled the younger woman to her for a kiss.

Kim's kiss seemed hesitant at first, but Shego lips were demanding and soon Kim was as enthusiastic with her tongue as Shego.

A cough from the waiter reminded them where they were. Shego quickly paid the bill and told Kim, "Back to the hotel."

Shego put an arm around Kim and pulled her close as they walked. Kim smiled and put her arm around Shego.

"This is wrong," Kim told herself. "I shouldn't be taking advantage of her. But she's not really drunk. Her speech isn't slurred and she's walking just fine." But Kim knew those were unreliable indicators. College had exposed her to a lot of different drunks, and they weren't all stumbling over their own feet or unable to express a complete sentence. "Does she just want sex and she had to drink too much before she'd ask? Am I just horny... Am I doing this because... No, no sex. This is wrong." Kim continued her mantra of "This is wrong," to herself all back to the hotel.

"Your room, or mine?" Shego purred when they reached their floor.

"Shego, this is wrong."

"Why? Don't you want this?" Shego pulled Kim into another kiss. The younger woman didn't hesitate for a second in returning the kiss. After half a minute Shego broke the kiss to whisper again, "Your room, or mine?"

Kim closed her eyes and reminded herself one last time, "This is wrong," before telling Shego, "Your room."

It was dark when Shego's movements awakened Kim. "Back in a minute. Gotta hit the toilet."

Kim lay in the dark, feeling guilty, until Shego returned. "Shego?"

"Yeah?"

"I need to apologize."

"No you don't. You were great."

"I took advantage of you."

"Huh?"

"You'd had a little too much to drink and I..."

Shego reached over and put a hand on Kim's mouth. The green woman sighed, "No, I'm the one who needs to apologize to you. I didn't have too much to drink, and you didn't take advantage of me. I tricked you."

Kim removed Shego's hand from her mouth. "You were drinking."

"And being careful not to drink too much. I... Maybe I needed some Dutch courage. Look, I was just horny, okay? I hoped I could get you to drag me off bed if you thought I was drunk."

"And I did."

"No you didn't. You tried to protect me, and I was trying to get you to–"

"But I should have said no!"

"You didn't want sex too?"

"Maybe I was just horny too. But it was a mistake."

"Even if it was a mistake it felt good... So, I told you that you were great. How was I?"

"Incredible, but you're missing the point."

"Am I? I guess so. Can you tell me what it is?"

"Casual sex is wrong. It's wrong to try and take advantage of someone who's been drinking. It's wrong to try and trick someone into sex by pretending to be something you're not."

Shego flopped back and stared at the dark ceiling. "That's three points... So, what do we do now?"

"I don't know. I know what we shouldn't do. We don't get back in bed again until the race is over."

"Be kind of easy after last night. Are you saying we hop back in bed as soon as the race is over?"

"No. I'm remembering what Hego said... I remember what you said. You said you were just horny."

"You said it too!"

"Yes, I did. But it doesn't excuse either of us. Hego reminded me you just got out of prison. You don't know what you want to do. I don't know if I fit into whatever you decide to do. I don't know how what you do would fit with my goals. I–"

"Hey, have you told me what grad program you're starting?"

"Yes, I did. Well, pretty sure I told you I'm starting law school."

"Always good to know a good lawyer... Sometimes better to know a bad one... Getting in bed with your lawyer is always a bad idea."

"Stay clean and you won't need legal representation."

"So, no repeat of last night?"

"Not now."

"Okay," Shego growled, "then get your clothes on and get out of here before we do something neither of us will regret."

Shego watched Kim get dressed, trying to decide how she felt about what had just happened, and feeling guilty. "Kim..."

"Yes?"

"I, uh, really enjoyed last night. I..."

Kim gave Shego a fast kiss. "So did I."

"I'm not sure what it means."

"Neither am I," Kim admitted. "But I'm optimistic."

Shego grinned, "Same here."

Kim managed a short nap before breakfast.

"What happened to you, KP," Ron asked at breakfast. "I tried to find you last night and–"

"Long story. Later."

Kim and Shego were on the second direct flight from Athens to Brussels, along with Team Blue.

"Shego?" their cameraman asked.

"Yeah, Karl?"

"You seem in an unusually good mood this morning. What were you doing in Athens?"

"Nothing special... Oh, Kim and I bought matohantros," she said, holding up the charm. "Kim and I will come in first now."

"What is it?"

"Charm against the evil eye. Bat guy says there is nothing that works better."

Karl reached into his shirt and pulled out a leather cord and showed her the charm on it, "As good as my hamsa?"

"The operative phrase," Kim pointed out, "is nothing better. I'm sure that have exactly the same amount of influence on the evil eye."

"Sorry, Karl," Shego apologized to the camera man. "She's a skeptic."

At the airport teams were given keys to Mustangs and a map to the Ford Proving Grounds at Lommel.

"Sweet ride," Shego commented as she put her foot down.

"Try not to get pulled over for speeding, or your brother and Drakken will get ahead of us."

"Why did they give us a bitchin' ride if we aren't allowed to use it?

They discovered the answer to Shego's question at the Roadblock at Lommel. "It's called, 'Who wants to play the ponies'," Shego told Kim. Accelerate to a hundred miles an hour, then stop in a designed area, navigate a slalom course, and then do a couple victory doughnuts."

"Oh, let me!" Kim exclaimed in an excited voice.

"You're teasing me, Cupcake. You know I want this, and, much as I love you, I'd punch you in the face before I let you take this away from me."

"Well, since you said you love me, I suppose I can let you do it."

Team Hispanic were making their fourth attempt when Kim and Shego arrived. The Black Cat was behind the wheel and Shego stayed near her own vehicle rather than sitting with Kim and the Tarantula. The Cat hit a cone in the slalom course and was told he'd have to try again, after Shego made her first attempt.

"You were on the plane with Die Fledermaus and Señor Senior?" Kim asked the mask-wearing drug smuggler.

"Si. First try, El Murciélago passed. The old men are impressive."

Kim still felt unease with the large spiders sunning on the man's shoulders, and felt sympathy for Shego's fears. "The spiders? Why..."

She wondered if he was grinning behind the mask, "My friends... Far more honest than the men I worked for." He reached up and a spider crawled onto his hand.

Kim reminded herself she was Kim Possible, the woman for whom anything was possible. She reached out her hand. The cameraman zoomed in as the spider crawled over to Kim's hand. Kim giggled slightly, "The hairy legs tickle."

"You are gentle. There are many she would not come to." They looked down at the track. "I think your partner will pass on her first attempt." The man stuck out his hand and the spider returned to him. "But I do not think your partner would hold my friend."

"Perhaps not. A lot of people would not... If you and the Cat win a million dollars each, what would you do with the money?"

"Get my family out of Columbia... I will get them out of Columbia anyway, but it would be much easier with a million dollars."

"I... Sorry, I'm... How did you get into..."

The man shrugged, "My village was small, and poor. I needed the money."

They turned their attention to the track where Shego was burning rubber with her victory doughnuts.

"Your friend has... Is she your friend?"

"I think so."

"The old men, they are friends. El Gato Negro and I will never be friends – but he is an excellent partner."

As Kim rose to join Shego and read their next Route Marker she wished him, "Good luck."

"And you and your partner as well."

Shego stayed behind the wheel as Kim and Steve entered the Mustang. "I don't suppose they'll let us keep these," Shego remarked.

"Doubt it."

"What next? Where are we going?"

"Roadblock, Water or Waffle? And they're both in Ghent, head out and I'll direct."

"What's the Water thing?" Shego demanded once they were on the highway.

"We get materials to build a raft and find two halves of our next clue somewhere on the river Leie."

"Pain in the butt. What's Waffle, and does it require eating them?"

"We get materials to build a waffle stand, then we need to make and decorate eighteen Belgian waffles – and somebody approves them before we get our next Route Marker."

"Also pain in the butt. Either of those in your wheel house?"

"No... But I think I'd prefer Water. Ron will definitely pick Waffle."

"He and Fist should have arrived by now, right?"

"I think so."

At Hoefslagstraatje they found the pontoons, ropes, and wood for the raft at the river bank. It took them less than half an hour to assemble a raft.

"Hego would will get this done in five minutes if they pick this," was Shego's opinion.

"And with Drakken helping?"

"They may never finish. He's more of a waffle guy."

After launching they found one half of the information quickly. It took some effort to find the second half, and as Kim reached for it – Shego pushed her in the river.

Kim splashed back to the surface and found Shego laughing hysterically on the raft. "I thought you gave up evil."

"Sorry, Princess, force of habit." She helped Kim back onto the raft and they headed for the shore.

"Now what," Kim pondered when they were on dry land.

"What's next?"

"We're going to Muur van Geraardsbergen, we'll find our next Route Marker there."

"Uh, before we leave," Karl told them, "I gotta hit the port-a-john. You two good?"

"I'm fine."

"Me too."

With no camera recording them Kim chided Shego, "Pushing me in the river? Really?"

"Feeling silly, I guess. And it'll be good TV if they got a good picture of you coming up."

"Feeling silly?"

"Yeah, guess I'm happy or something." Shego leaned close and whispered in Kim's ear, "Can't imagine why I'd be feeling happy," and slowly licked Kim's ear.

Kim shivered slightly "I thought we agreed not to do that."

"What we said was no more sex, at least for now. I think flirting is still allowed."

"I'm going to read the fine print in our oral contract," Kim grumbled. "And you want that shown on television?"

"Which is why I waited until we weren't being taped."

"In that case," Kim laughed and pulled Shego close for a kiss. The older woman didn't resist.

However, they didn't exactly find their Route Marker at Muur van Geraardsbergen.

What they found there were homing pigeons. "Okay, pick a couple birds," they were told.

"How?"

"Doesn't matter. You'll release them, and when one arrives at the address you're given you'll get your next route marker."

Kim selected a bird, "Are you fast?" she asked.

The pigeon blinked.

"That's not the way you do it," Shego told Kim and picked out another bird. "Fly fast, or I'm having roast pigeon and rice tonight, Clear?" She looked at Kim and assured the younger woman, "They respond better the threats."

"You two will look good on TV," their cameraman chuckled.

"I happen to think we look good anywhere," Shego sniffed.

Kim and Shego made it to the birds' home base before the birds. "We should have brought them with us," Shego said.

Fortunately the wait was not long. "Here is your envelope," the pigeon fancier told them and handed it over.

There was a picture inside.

"Do you know what this is?" Kim asked Shego.

"No idea in the world." She looked at Karl, "What's this?"

"You know I wouldn't be allowed to tell you, even if I knew right? And I've got no idea."

"Find a local," Kim said. "It has to be some thing that the locals will recognize."

"It is the Atomium," the woman told them. "Everyone knows where it is in Brussels."

"You are team number three, and will remain in the competition," Phil informed them at the Pit Stop.

"The old guys beat us again?"

"Team Experience came in before you, and Lord Fiske and Ron Stoppable."
