Welles Residence, October 2076
"Not sayin' I ain't glad you're gettin' your own place, but it's gonna get weird not having you around Broder." Jackie had stated while V headed downstairs with his clothes all packed into a duffel bag and his D5 Copperhead strapped onto his back as he looked towards Jackie and his mother. The merc then said to his partner "It's not like I won't be staying in touch with either of you." To which Mama Welles responded "But this house will feel your absence V, as will we… where will you be going?" V then said as he looked at Señora Welles "Got an apartment in a megabuilding over in Little China. H10, 8th floor. Place is roomy and it's been unused for a hot minute, so I'll probably need to give myself a week to set up some essentials." Some of which had already come to V's mind such as hangers to keep his clothes on and maybe somewhere to keep his gear. Anything else would depend on the condition of the apartment regardless of what he's already put on his mental to-do list.
Mama Welles then proceeded to wrap V in a one-armed hug "Cuídate Take care of yourself V." The merc responded as he returned the embrace "Por supuesto." "Of course." Before they both released each other.
He then turned to face both the mother and son "Thanks for letting me stay here, both of you… I know that I didn't need to be offered this place, or accepted into it. But you both did just that, and in the past seven months it's been home… Gracias, no olvidaré lo que has hecho por mí. Thank you, I won't forget what you've done for me." And with smiles shared across the room V stepped back to the doorway of the Welles household, the door shutting in front of him.
V had just parked his car in a spot down in the parking garage of the megabuilding later that night before getting out and grabbing his duffel bag from the backseat. No longer wearing his urban clothes, he was now dressed in a t-shirt that had the same image of a bloody yellow face that was patched onto his jacket, along with a simple pair of pants and sneakers.
He then proceeded to head over to the elevator and select his floor, remembering the location of his new place: 8th floor, room number 716. He then came up to the door of the aforementioned room and proceeded to unlock and open it, walking in and having a look around.
He noticed a bed over in the corner that was down to a bare mattress, and a little area across from it with a floor that was a little lower than the rest of the floor placement in the apartment with a long sofa that turned into a corner. V considered that space to be a good spot to set up a little downtime area. He then noticed a little wall-door that V assumed passed for the closet, which he checked inside of to find that his suspicions were confirmed and that there also weren't hangers to use, leaving himself glad he was already planning to get some. Then there was some sort of back room over on the right that he noticed where he could probably store away his gear in, and what looked like a bathroom over to the left. Finally V turned his gaze towards the apartment window, with a clear view of the area of Night City he was now residing in… he liked it.
He then went over to the sofa and set the duffel bag down just in front of it, near his leg. As he looked up a little from his seat to view the apartment in its entirety he could already see some potential placement ideas taking shape in his mind. It didn't seem like much now, but V knew that this place was perfect for him. And with enough care, it would be home.
Author's note: Yep, an introduction chapter to V's new apartment plus a little fluff between the man himself and the Welles family. I spent some time trying to pick at pieces of details in the Cyberpunk story to help really carry things along. Then I thought back to the brief goodbye scene in the game's montage sequences before we see V in their new place, and it made me think that as a chapter it would be a great point to move the story past the early development phase where circumstances just hollow out and into a point where events can really start unfolding. I can't say just yet what's going to happen, but I'll do my best not to disappoint. In the meantime, as you can tell I've got a little extra something added on. Hope you guys like it.
