Lucy's apartment, December 31st, 2076.

11:55 pm

Lucy had just watched the countdown clock shift over on her TV, marking them down to 5 minutes before the year was over. Her jacket was set off over to the side next to David's, his mother's former EMT jacket now tagged with a green "ER" on the backside that Gloria allowed him to keep under the reason that she didn't need it anymore and that he wore it well, something which Lucy certainly agreed on.

As for the young Edgerunner himself, he was sitting next to Lucy, breaking the semi-comfortable silence as he said "5 minutes until midnight… can't believe it's about to be 2077 already." Before Lucy glanced over to notice a dumbfounded expression on her boyfriend's face joining that goofy grin she likes to see on him.

The once-scrawny kid had certainly grown a little from Dorio's training, definitely not enough to stick out like a sore thumb in terms of physical appearance but he certainly looked more like he could handle himself than he did before. She then swiped a quick glance at the Tsunami Nekomata sniper sitting over in the corner next to the small desk where her Unity pistol sat next to his pair of Malorian Overture revolvers, recalling David's words about trying his hand with the sniper "If fast is how I handle things, why take multiple shots when all I need is one?" Prompting the netrunner to smile fondly over the memory.

David had seemed to notice this as he then spoke up "You thinking about something?" A warm smile planted on his face. She then scooted towards him a little before she spoke up "You could say that… you know you've come a long way from that Arasaka dropout trying to figure out what he wanted to do with his life." Which prompted a chuckle from David before he went silent for a moment, Lucy catching a look in his eye that prompted him to say "Now you're an Edgerunner trying to figure out what it is that he wants out of it." Which resulted in David looking at Lucy with a surprised expression, breaking into a defeated chuckle after a moment "Yeah, you really know me too well Luce."

11:56 pm

As Lucy gave him an expectant look he then proceeded to say "Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that this is where I am. I've got a grip on my life, I've got friends out of Maine and the others, and I live with the best girl I've ever met." Which prompted a little giggle out of Lucy, thinking to herself (Ever the flatterer…).

David had then continued his thoughts "I just don't really know where I want to go after this. I can't do this for the rest of my life, I know that. And I know you don't want me to do that either." Looking Lucy in the eye as she remembered their conversation the night they chose to be together

"You say we're from different worlds, but I don't care about that. I care about you! Just give me a chance!" "I want to be with you too, I mean that… but I need you to promise me that you won't die on me, that I won't lose you to this hellhole." "Ok… I'll give it everything I've got to survive this city. Whatever future you want, I'll be there to see it with you Lucy. That's my promise." And remembering those words actually prompted something in the netrunner that she mentally chastised herself over.

11:57 pm

She then proceeded to stand up "Don't get up, I want to show you something." And she then headed over to her room, coming back out with a set of BD wreaths in her hand "Honestly I can't believe we didn't do this sooner." And as she came over to the couch she passed him one that he accepted before she sat down beside him again and put hers on.

As the BD turned on they both opened their eyes to find themselves standing on the moon, David putting his hand in front of his face "Holy shit, this feels so real. Heh, I can feel the heat of the sun on my hand!" His amazement seeping in through his voice as Lucy responded "Had to dial it down so you wouldn't feel the real thing. Trust me when I say you don't want to know what that feels like, unless you want to feel like you're burning alive."

For the next couple of moments David was just jumping around a bit in the low gravity that came with the BD just for the sake of experiencing it, acting like that excitable kid Lucy met back in March, chuckling a little as she heard him laugh from excitement. He then just looked over at her with that same goofy smile on his face "Why'd you want to show me this?" And Lucy then walked up next to him while looking at Earth "Honestly, it's a personal thing." To which David simply responded "You want to go to the moon?" Prompting Lucy to turn to look at him, a surprised expression on her face.

11:58 pm

David then chuckles a little before saying "I know you too Luce. If you wanted to show this to me sooner than now, then that just means it's special to you. And given what this is…" which prompted a grin emerging on the netrunner's face from how taken aback she was.

She then proceeded to speak up after turning back to look at Earth "Yeah… honestly it's an old pipe dream of mine… and strangely enough, I haven't thought much about it lately." Though she knew exactly why. Ever since she started being with David she's been feeling more and more at home at his side than anywhere else… In a way, he was her new moon. The one place she'd rather be instead of anywhere else in the world. That was when David turned towards her and said to his girlfriend "What if we went there together?" Prompting yet another shocked expression as she turned to face him.

11:59 pm

"I'll take you there myself, fly you to the moon." David continued as he approached her. Lucy was just stunned into silence… and after processing that he meant it completely she just broke into a laugh for a moment before she began stifling her laughter to say "My god, what did I do to deserve you?" To which David responded with his signature goofy grin "I have asked myself the same question about you so many times."

Lucy then just giggled a little before draping her arms over her boyfriend's shoulders "So… you really mean that?" And he responded with the most certain tone Lucy's ever heard come from his voice since the night they got together "Yeah… I promise Lucy." And with that sentence hanging in the air she then moved to kiss him, the young Edgerunner returning it as they stood together on the virtual moon.

Author's note: Can't say you were expecting this one can you? Gonna be honest, after the change in the Edgerunners timeline I put in this story where Lucy learned the truth about why David had the Sandevistan sooner than she did originally, it made me wonder if that meant she was no longer prompted to show him her Moon BD. One thought led to another and I came up with a romantic scene between David and Lucy while putting a transition into the year of 2077 on the side. I hope that any Edgerunners fans or DavidxLucy fans who check this chapter out enjoy what I concocted, we'll be throwing back into the main story for the next one. See you all then.

Update: Next chapter's still being worked on, but I gave the alley scene in Chapter 4 a little revision. For those of you who've already gotten this far before the update, feel free to check it out if you want.
