I Don't Own Percy Jackson
"A-are you sure this is fine? The building... it feels weird" I just nodded, as I watched as Mo moved forwards, up to the steps of the Lotus Casino, and said softly.
"It's suppose to, it has a time dilation property to it, in here no one ages, no one changes, no one... dies. You can be a child for forever" I never mentioned that she would never grow up, would never go through puberty, would never live a life, would never have a lover, or a kid, or travel the world, or that this might not even work and she might just be a dead body in a few days and I wouldn't know months or years or decades from now.
If I ever knew, if I could bring myself to come back and check.
"Alright... I trust you... Thank you Nick" I just smiled, trying to make it look as real as possible, as I said.
"It was my pleasure Mo... Enjoy your life" She beamed up at me, looking so earnestly hopeful and thankful that I wanted to ask her to stop, as she moved forwards and wrapped her arms around me, I stiffened and jus hugged back. We stood there for a long, long moment, and then we pulled away. I watched her as she walked into the building and I.. I took a long, deep, breath, and did my best to not cry again, I was a big boy, and I could handle this... Oh fuck I could not handle this!
I sped walked away, ignoring the squeezing pain in my chest and the tears threatening to spill down my cheeks.
Maybe dying wasn't quite for bitches after all.
"Back already are you?" I just nodded, a bit despondent. It was a day later after... the casino, I just needed a break, but I was back and was still trying to get my mind around everything. It was hard, but give it a few days and I was hoping I'd be able to bounce back. She didn't need to know that, no one needed to know that, so I just smiled, like I always did, moving forwards towards the river, past her as I pulled out the Sand Dollar in question, and said.
"Yeah, I got it, as per our deal... Want to do the honors?" She just shook her head.
"No, you do it, reach your hands into my river and break the Sand Dollar with your own hands" I paused, and looked at her... This river, it burned a person at the soul, just one touch could kill, the strongest mortals alive barely made it out, and that was with meeting the criteria, Percy and Achilles. But I held my end, and she would hold her's, so, with a deep breath, I moved to the river shore, careful to not get to close, before bending down... and dipping my hands into the water.
I was barely away of my own screams, the pain was to much for any of my senses to work, it was blinding and burning and haunting and chilling all at once, like every ambition I have ever had was being drained from my very being, like my soul was being judged and found lacking.
The snapping of the Sand Dollar was something I was barely aware I did, I had pulled back seconds later, not able to cope with the agony, my hands a blistering red, and the Sand Dollar gone. I was in to much pain to notice, to see the way the river burned blue, filling and pulsing out over the current, flowing and wrapping around the Underworld, once, then twice, then three, four, five times over and over, in total nine, encompassing the entire length of the River Styx.
Rationality finally came back to me after a moment, one of my perks, Unyielding Spirit or Gamer's Body, which ever, I couldn't care less, numbing the pain away as I was left with the shaking phantom pains after as Styx moved besides me, looking out at awe at the river, the smoke which had one billowed off her now nothing more than a fine mist.
"Dip your hands once more into the water Grandchild" I paused, wanting to tell her to go screw herself, but this was the first time she ever had really acknowledge my relation to her as something important, the first time she referred to be familiarly, so I took a deep breath, and pressed my hands once more into the liquid below.
And... it didn't burn or chill, it just was... It was smooth like silk, running my hands through it felt incredible actually, like a wave of strength and vitality that I don't think I've ever experience before.
If this is how Percy feels every time he so much as touches a puddle then he's even more bullshit than I thought. I was huffing, and before I knew it, I was laughing, it started as an unwilling giggle before blowing into a proper laugh, as I dipped my hands deeper in, and it was... incredible.
"You have done what I have asked, so my Domain is your Legacy, do well with these powers grandson" I felt my smile grow as my grandmother vanished as the notices appeared in front of me.
[Quest: Styx's Decontamination: Completed!
You have been given a task through a bargain with the Goddess of Oaths, you better make damn sure you succeed in cleaning her river or else the rest of your life is forfeit to her whims. Thankfully you completed it with time to spare after an incredible display of cunning of understanding of the god you needed the favor from.
Rewards:
+10,000 Exp
+Perk [Legacy of Styx] unlocked!
+Status Effect [Oath's Blessing] unlocked!
Hidden rewards:
You have been given the Skill [Oath Maker]!
You have been given the Skill [Limited Hydrokensis]!
You have been given the Skill [Odikinesis]!]
[Notice: You have gained one level!]
I had to take a moment, after that, there was more, which was just... wow, but right now I just needed a second to just... get my bearings on everything, just real quick before I looked at the rest of the messages... Ok... wow, I feel like I could punch God right now, like, wow... Ok, cool, I'm good.
It was just a massive jump in everything right then, like, I could feel my mana just expand and grow in me, and it was kind of unsettling and kind of cool... Right, I think I'm ready to look at the rest.
[Legacy of Styx]
You have been giving access to the domain of Styx, the Titan Goddess of Oaths, Hatred, and the River Styx, as such the divinity in your blood has grown and gained the following bonuses.
When you come in contact with water from the River Styx, your stats are increased by 20 and you recover Mana, Stamina, and health 5x faster.
You gain 3 Points to all stats every ten levels. (This will update to match total level)
You now gain an additional, per point in Power, 20 Mana. (This will update to match total level)
You now gain an additional, per point in Constitution, 20 Stamina. (This will update to match total level)
[Notice: Retrospective Perk [Legacy of Styx] has activated three times, all stats have increased by nine points]
OK, I lied, I have to do this one at a time, that's why I feel like a million bucks right now, my stats were currently boosted by twenty-nine points than what they had been just a few seconds ago, and the amount of mana I got per point of Power has been multiplied by five. Which was... Wow... It was a lot. Right, cool, that's something... No, get away from the power high and actually think...
Right, ok, cool, obviously the water bonus is really freaking good, but damn if it isn't incredibly situational. so I need to find a way to be able to use it in combat without being in the Underworld, next to the river itself. Not hard, the water doesn't hurt me anymore, so I can just carry around bottles of the stuff, not a big deal. Right, next up, let's look at the Blessing.
[Oath's Blessing]
You have power over the weight of People's words, and as such you have an incredibly strong ability to sense the conviction behind other's words.
-You can now sense lies and truths, as well as how strongly people feel about their own words.
-You can now no longer tell a lie without spending 100 Mana
Ok... that's not as much of a blessing as I was hoping for to be honest, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't... good either, I mean, the first part could be a massive help, but the second... Well, I mean, I don't have a habit of lying directly, so I just really have to hope that indirect lies don't count, or lies of omission, because that might get a bit... costly in the future.
Next up, the skills... I'll just do all three at the same time.
[Oath Maker] Level: 1
When someone makes a promise when you are in their presence, you can use your power to create a bond in which if the person breaks their word, an effect will take effect
This skill gains a new effect every five levels
Current Effects:
-A minor discomfort when breaking their Oath
Cost: 500 Mana Minimum, additional mana increases power or duration of chosen effect
[Limited Hydrokensis] Level: 1
You have a limited control over the water around you. You'll never be a master but you can move it from one cup to another... just you'll have to give up an arm and a leg to do much more.
Cost: Varies based on level of skill and desired effect
[Notice: Your Control stat counts as a phantom modifier, for every ten points of Control, [Limited Hydrokensis] acts as if it is one level higher than presented here]
[Odikinesis] Level: 1
You have control over an emotion, that emotion, Hatred... don't know what you're going to do with it, but you'll come up with something.
-You can increase or decrease Hatred in someone you can see based on how much Mana you use and level of Skill
-You can sense Hatred and desire of violence directed at you, one foot per ever level passively
Cost: Varies based on level of skill and desired effect
[Notice: Your Control stat counts as a phantom modifier, for every ten points of Control, [Odikinesis] acts as if it is one level higher than presented here]
Huh, considering that these are the only three magic based skills that I'll be getting for the foreseeable future based on my Greek side, I mean, that's it, those three skills covered everything that Styx could give me... Wasn't much was it? Odikinesis was very situational, Limited Hydrokensis, well, the flaw is in the name, and Oath Maker isn't exactly revolutionary.
I knew it wasn't going to be, and I still loved to have them, I was like, doubly magic than I had been, but damn if it really wasn't that much. Being creative really was the only thing I could be do be able to use all these skills.
Well... I did have one idea...
With that I opened up my bag, and then started to pull out a few mason jars... by a few, I of course mean a few dozen.
I might not always have a plan, but when I do, things usually tend to go my way. Or at least, I can expect most things, this was one of them, because at her core, Styx was a river deity, expecting to not get some kind of water control skill would be dumb.
I hadn't been expecting the power up from the water, but that just meant it was even better, and I bet if I try to use my Hydrokensis on River Styx water, it won't cost as much as normal water... and here's a cool little fact about this stuff in case someone happened to miss it... this shit fucking burns, and can kill practically any monster that it comes in contact with. It's literally used to guard and keep souls in the Underworld, which is why it's wrapped around the whole place nine times!
And now I am the only demigod alive who can control it, and that's a fact, I don't know when it happened, but it is confirmed that even Percy Jackson himself can't control or breath the water from the River Styx. I mean, I can't breath at all in water, I don't think Styx water changes that, but still, it's something I can do that he can't which is neat.
Now then... Time to start learning the human side of magics. After all, I still had free range to a warehouse full of Spiritism books. And while books were gross, I wasn't one to just give up because of it, plus, I felt like I was owed something for the hell that was the last two days of my life.
The books themselves were boring and basic, but there was some cool pictures in them and a lot of theory that didn't suck to learn, so that's something.
The main things to know ahead of time, is two things, from what I've figured out, Mana, or at least my kind, is many times stronger than Spirit, and as such mostly just incompatible by nature, it would be like trying to power a toy drone with a lightning strike, the drone will be real charged for about half a second, and then it would explode and probably catch fire.
It was probably a miracle I didn't lit the map on fire when I powered the tracking spell, and that's because I barley put anything in it and just hoped it would be enough, and it was more than enough, the materials acting something like a buffer against the wave of power flooding the ritual. So as it stands, I could probably use my Mana for those kinds of magics at some point, when my control is a few hundred points greater than it is right now, so it would be natural and not me just hoping I'm not putting to much into a spell.
In summary, my power was just to strong and powerful for this low grade and simple stuff, my base line was just tiers above this stuff.
The second thing, is that even with that in mind... I can still learn to use these kinds of magics, because while I am half god, I'm still half human, and as such can do practically any form of magic a normal human could learn or be able to do, it's just my battery was way to big to use for most of it.
Basically meaning, I just had to use another person's battery! After all, humans, like Reese and Sam, don't have Spiritual Points by just being real cool, they were given it by spirits, according to how much their body could hold and just how much power the spirit itself had to give. It's like kind of warlock like, a human can strike a deal of some sort with a Spirit Guide, as they are known, in exchange for power, the Spirit usually gets to stay on this plane of existence instead of whichever afterlife they were in before hand.
It's give and take basically, and any human can do it, because it requires a human soul to be able to bind yourself to a Spirit to be able to gain some of their strength. And I happen to be human enough that I have a human soul, so... I could make a deal with whoever I want to get some nice juicy Spiritual Points, which are like double A batteries in comparison to my car battery Mana, so I can just use those points when I need to do less powerful stuff, as well as a lot more board stuff, since it's not at all related to Greek power, I won't be limited to any bloodline domains.
Pretty cool right? Mostly, it can be dangerous as well, since most of the time it's hard to tell if the Spirit you summon is being genuine or not, since there is a chance a person could get a trickster spirit or some kind of evil one that puts conditions on using their power, and whatever stuff you could think about. If a person isn't careful they can even be possessed by a Spirit Guide.
I don't have to worry about that last one because of Gamer's Body, but it's something to be aware of.
But... as it happens, I can kind of sense evil now, or at least I can sense hatred and ill-intentions directed at me, and I have Search, which through the Heritage part, might even tell me if they're evil or not. Plus, I have Oath Maker now, which I can use to test truthfulness as well, so I should be good.
Because while those skills might be a situational, they are very handy in situations like this.
Of course this would be incredibly dangerous for any person, the amount of will power, self control, and strength of body needed to be able to hold the power of a Spirit was more than most people could handle, it would burn them from the inside out if they hadn't gone through a multitude of rituals and body strengthening techniques, along with a number of other things, mental practices and mind training stuff.
Then you had to do this chant and give an offering of something valuable to you, and then some blood, and then you might just get someone interested in meeting you and striking a silent partnership. It's a respect thing to give an offering like that.
All in all... I didn't need any of that or to do any of that.
My body was hundreds of times more durable, stronger, and just better than any human could hope to be. My mind was literally impossible to influence from an outside power, and my blood alone was more than a generous offering. I'm literally half god, sure this was for my human side, but that doesn't mean I'm just a boring old human. From what I've read over the last few days of boring book learning, is that most Spirits are bored of being dead, they have power from something, and are more than willing to use it to see the world again.
It's like... their version of tv, expect they can sort of interact with the show instead of spewing hate comments in some twitter thread when something happens. I say sort of, because they give the power and they can watch what the human with their power does and can stop their power from being used if they don't like what the human is doing with it, but they have to be actually summoned again to actually speak and give more advice or power or to interact with the human, so it can be anything form a one off deal to a few times a month, given how strong as the human's body and mind is.
So... given my life is infinitely more interesting than anything a normal human's can be, it'll be easy enough to get willing offers.
It's something to keep in mind. I'm more than willing to do it, it sounds really awesome to be honest, but on the other hand I can't really stay around here for much longer either. Staying in one place is dangerous for any demigod, and I wasn't just any demigod, level is what attracts monsters and mine has been going up for a while now. I've already had to kill a few creatures that would have torn Sam and Reese limb from limb if they were here.
I've been here for over a week now, learning and studying, but it was time to leave.
So I picked up some things, the items I'd need, a notepad with the chant written down, and a left them two Celestial Bronze daggers, just because.
In return I got their numbers, so I have access to the police if I need it... To bad I'd be spending most of my time across the entire country.
Still, it made me feel better knowing that they could get in contact with me if they needed help, because as much as they liked to think themselves the adults, I would no doubt be the one cleaning up their messes if anything goes wrong.
Past that, I got everything ready and headed on out. Life was ever on going and I had a lot of stuff to get done, things to do, stuff like that.
I had a little less than a full year until the next book starts up properly and that means Percy is going to be even more ridiculously strong at that point, and I want to at least be somewhere on par with mister plot armor.
I mean, I don't really need to be that strong, given that I wouldn't be doing anything for the duration of that book that is involved in the plot, cause I don't really care about Thalia's tree or anything else that would happen during that time, but I do like knowing just where in the timeline I am at, and using the books as check points to keep in mind just how much time I have left is a good way of doing that.
But of course there is another issue... I ain't going to get stronger from monster killing, it just isn't going to happen, I've finally hit the point where monsters barely give me any experience, the average boring monster I can kill without to much issue gives about two hundred experience, and my level has hit the point it's taking bare minimum around ten thousand experience to level up once. That's fifty just for the next level, it'll be more for the one after that.
And since I only get attacked by about, two to five monsters a day, saying the average is third point five, that's two weeks of just standing around and waiting to be attacked, and assuming it takes another few days for each level after that... well it's just a waste of time, even if in the in between I'm working on things, I couldn't do to much in case I use to much Mana or Stamina to be able to fight back.
There wasn't any training areas like there was by Camp Half-Blood where there was dozens of monsters ready to kill at any time from the high concentration of half-bloods.
Basically, it was a waste to try and catch up to someone like Percy through normal means, levels won't really do it, my stats right now are probably comparable to his, but that won't last, so what I need to do is work on my stats and skills more than anything else, managing accomplishments and figuring out new powers as I go.
As it stands however, training isn't going to be enough either to keep up with someone like Percy, who is a very handy bench marker, since, just to let everyone know once more, the kid is bullshit, remember that time he literally held up the entire sky when Atlas got free for a moment... I do! That shit is insane, sure he nearly died, but he also still fucking did it, he held the god damn sky and didn't instantly get crushed.
I mean, that's mostly subjective though, since Annabeth did the same thing for a while, but the point stands it's insane, and that's Percy in just a year and a half's time. Which, is, you know, insane as fuck.
So I have to somehow figure out how to match that, which since I just don't get enough from leveling up for it to be worth it, I need to find a way to power level my stats and skills to make up the difference in power between us.
I needed intense, professional training, and a place where I could be safe enough to work on my other ideas. It was for that reason that I had just booked a short flight up to San Francisco.
Time to find a wolf!
"Hi!" The wolf god stared up at me, rage building in her eyes, it was frankly impressive just how much hatred she had in those eyes as she stared up at me. As a person who can sense such things, got to give her credit for it.
"Child of Greece, what business do you have here!" It was like a roar in my head, it was pretty cool. I just smiled and looked up at the massive wolf, ignoring the others that were circling around me. Lupa was an interesting Goddess, strict and warlike like all the Roman gods, but she was one that cared as well, she was the guardian of Camp Jupiter and first trainer of all their men and women. It might just be a territorial thing, because she is a wolf, but I'm sure she did genuinely care as well.
Otherwise she wouldn't in the future assist Apollo during his grounding from Zeus to protect her 'pack' as she referred to New Rome. It's why I knew I could trust her and not get eaten.
"I'm here to train" She growled.
"And why should I!" I smiled.
"Because the Titans are awakening again, and after they are defeated our two camps are going to have to have an awesome crossover special to defeat Earth Mom?" The sky shook a bit at that, that might be a bit to on the nose for the three Fates to let slide. They didn't usually care about all my stuff, but the sky gets a bit... thundery when I push to close to spoilers. I haven't cross any lines yet though, so that's good.
"What! How do you know of such things!" I just shrugged.
"I got a lot going for me"
"...I still will not train you, but I will not harm you"
"Why not?"
"Because no matter what, until the time comes, I will never train a child of Greece"
"Why not?"
"Because it would be an insult upon Roman's honor!"
"Why?"
"You are Greek!"
"That's racist"
"I'm a Goddess! How dar-"
"Still racist"
"You dare interrupt me when I-!"
"How about we make a bet for it. You respect strength and power over all else correct? Give me a task and I will complete it, and if I do so within a months time, then you will train me for a few months, three at minimum, ten at most, and... I won't come to New Rome until the first of the titans are defeated or subdued, to show how serious of a threat they are" That quelled her right down. Gods, they all have the same amount of pride, and desire to show up upstart demigods who they think have insulted them.
It should honestly be scary how easy it is to trick deities into things. But it was mostly just convenient for me so I didn't really care.
"And how do I know you will keep your word?"
"I'm the legacy of Styx, the Goddess of Oaths, I can't lie without repercussions" Not a lie, just a stretch on what the repercussion is. She peered into my eyes, searching for both truthfulness and for the Legacy I spoke to have. I passed both, as she spoke once more.
"Fine, I accept your wager. You will travel the walk of Aeneid, if you wish to be treated and trained as a Rome, then you must follow the path of the start of it's history. Good luck and if you survive, I will train you" With that she jumped, hard enough to shatter the ground she stood upon, and her wolves followed, in a second I was alone.
I just took a short breath in... and then grinned to myself.
That worked out pretty nicely... Though I have no idea what the hell Aeneid is or whatever his/her walk was.
I'll be able to get more information in a second though since-
[Quest: Lupa's Demand: has started!
You have been given a task through a bargain with the Goddess of Wolves from the act of a bet, you are to walk from Turkey to Italy as the refugee Aeneas did as he fled from the fall of Troy, in the Epic of Aeneid, where he became the ancestor of the Romans.
Rewards:
Training from the Goddess Wolf Lupa for three to ten months
Failure:
Possible death
Time Limit: 1 Month]
[Notice: Perk [Son of Nike] has activated, all stats are now increased by 20%]
[Notice: Status Effect [Victory's Blessing: Skill] has been applied]
Ah...
I guess I'm going to Europe then?
Cool!
Wait, how long is the walk from Turkey to Italy anyways?
Hmm, this might be more difficult than I thought it would be... Eh, I'm sure it'll be fine!
This is not fine...
"Passengers we are experiencing light turbulence, please remain calm" The entire plane shook around me, as everyone screamed, as I just continued to stare out the window at the many Sylphs, which I think were wind spirits, though no idea where they were from, I just knew they really wanted to kill me and everyone else on the plane.
It was pretty annoying. Mostly because of all the screaming, it was hurting my ears.
Oh, and we were probably going to crash, that also was pretty bad as well, but that would be a quick death, this was just going to be an annoying one.
As it stands, I've just made the decision that if I'm going to die, I was going to be the most annoying person involved, and no one is going to take that away from me, so with a sigh, I just got up from my seat, pushing away the two adults that were screaming, as I moved over to the front of the plane. I ignored the annoying shouts for me to get back to my seat, as the entire plane shook a few more times, as I made my way to the front of the plane.
A flight attendant tried to stop me, I just gave her a look, she stopped trying, I wasn't sure it was because she bounced so hard from the shaking that she hit the roof or if it was because of my look, but I like to think it was the latter. I personally was holding a death grip on the chairs to anchor myself to the ground.
When the shaking got slightly better, I moved to the cockpit door, grabbed the handle, and just snapped the lock trying to keep it, well, locked, by turning it hard enough to snap the pins.
I half fell into the cockpit, as I slammed it closed behind me with my foot. It muffled the shouting pretty well so that's nice, now I just had to deal with the two poilts who were screaming murder at me to go back. Apparently they didn't want a small child up with them. I just rolled my eyes and helf out my hand and-
[Notice: -2,230 Mana used on Skill [Mist Control]]
Their eyes glazed over as they slumped forwards just a bit before they started talking casually.
"What do you think Jim? That look like a good spot to land" The co-pilot leaned up and shrugged, as we all stared down at a small strip of land in the distance, hundreds of thousands of miles below us.
"Looks good, might be a bit tight don't you think?"
"True, but we will be crashing soon regardless"
"True that Steve, we should go for it, dropping altitude"
"I'll radio in the situation to the flight tower-"
"-And I'll be alerting the passengers, hey when we get touched down and back to an actual place with living people, where do you think we should get lunch? I mean, it's Europe right? Think they got good burgers?"
I just sighed as I leaned back against a back wall and watched the two work and talk back and forth like nothing interesting was happening as the entire plane continued to shake under the pounding of the wind monster things outside. Mind control through use of the Mist was pretty handy, I honestly don't know why more people do it...
I know why, I'm fucking tired! I just used every ounce of Mana I had to do that, and if I didn't have my stats boosted, and Victories Blessing boosting my skills, I don't think I could have managed that.
Eh, at least we were safe now and-
BOOOOMMM!
"Huh, would you look at that Steve, it appears one of our engines just exploded"
"Yes it would look like that Jim... Oh, and we appear to be losing height much faster than we should be"
"Ah, we appear to be heading straight for the water"
"That does seem to be the case Jim... Do you think they have In and Out here?"
"Probably not, is the steering locked?"
"Yep, to much tension on it I can't move it an inch... Five Guys?" I ignored the continued banter about fast food as I shot between the two, grabbing onto the Pilots wheel-thing, and shoved my entire body backwards, pulling on it as hard as I could as the entire wheel-thing groaned and whirled, they weren't wrong, the strength needed to push this thing was astronomical! I just gritted my teeth and let out a short hissing sound when-
BOOOOMMM!
"Ah, that does appear to be our other engine, funny that. At least we have this small child here with superhuman strength to try and save us from immediate death. You should hit that button right there, it'll open the landing gear" I just pressed my foot on the console and smacked the button Jim pointed to, along with three other buttons on accident, one of which was apparently the CD player as Shake It Off blasted out of the speakers as we rode our way down to the strip of land with no engines and a fascinating discussion of fast food in the air.
Being honest, everything became a blur after that, all I really can recall was the seconds before touch down, and then it was just a wave of colors, of pain, and a lot of shaking, it felt like my entire body was being batted around like it was a piece of metal in a blender.
Like everything from my blood vessel to my teeth were being rattled about in a paint mixer.
My body went flying at some point, as my ears popped from the roars that sounded like a dragon just unleashed hell on the world, and then I hit the ground again and went flying, slamming and skidding across the earth, until I finally rolled to a stop as I let out a small painful groan, before stopping when that was to painful to do again.
It took me a solid minute before I could raise my head up enough to look at the notices that had appeared in front of me at some point with bleary eyes.
[Notice: Status Effect [Broken Bones 28x] has been applied, -25 Constitution, Strength, and Dexterity]
[Notice: Status Effect [Major Internal Bleeding] has been applied, -50 Stamina, -5 Constitution for every minute untreated]
[Notice: Status Effect [Major Bleeding] has been applied, -1 Constitution for every minute untreated]
[Notice: Status Effect [Major Bruising] has been applied, -10 Strength and Dexterity]
[Notice: Status Effect [Concussion] has been negated by Perk [Gamer's Body]]
Oh... Is that all...
I had... about ten minutes to live if those Status Effects didn't get treated...
Ten minutes... eh, that's plenty of time, what if I get bored? I didn't pack any books!
No, wait eww, no books that would make me even more bored, something else though.
A drink would be nice... I should get that before I push off...
Agony blossomed through my entire body the second I tried to move, I just gritted my teeth and with a groan pulling my broken arms forwards. I managed to pull myself around into something of a sitting position as I looked around for a moment, I was outside of the plane, flames roar off the sides of it. People were falling out of the sides of it, rushing for safety, probably a good thing, the plane was probably going to explode when those flames hit the gas tank.
My hand padded at my side and pulled the bag that was tied to my waist into my lap, as I bit back a small whine of pain at the action alone as I opened the bag up and leaned in a bit to deep into the massive inside of the bag, as my back made a very loud sound of protest, metaphorically from the pain and literally from what I think was my spine trying to pop itself back into place.
I think I almost blacked out from the pain, as I felt my hand wrap around a vial, and slowly pulled it out, trying to not crack any more bones in the arm itself, and pulled out a small vial of golden liquid. Popping the top, I managed a deep a breath as I could, before throwing my head back as the tasteless liquid down my throat.
The burn of nothing wasn't familiar, but the warmth that followed wasn't to dissimilar to the feeling of my Mana, as I let out of soft groan of relief as the bleeding conditions went away... and a few bones healed, it was very weird feeling my arms knit back together when I was awake, but that's about all it did.
[Notice: Status Effect [Food of the Gods] has been applied, if more than two of the same Status Effect is applied then you will die]
Aw, the system warned me, I knew it cared...
Groaning, I got up to my feet, pulled out a vial of other, and dumped it on my head, before walking over to the plane as my River Styx boost was added onto me, as I pulled out my Celestial Bronze sword, and managed a breath in, and... watched as the Sylphs, five in total, charged at me.
Right, time to do this then I guess.
[Accomplishment: Plane Crash: Completed
You've basically both doomed a plane to crash, and also helped land it, saving a lot of lives and somehow not dying from beind flung through the windscreen of an airplane. That's both badass and impressive.

Fucking Christ I am in pain!
There was more than a few cuts covering my body, as I limped around and looked about as the humans just trying to get cell service... We were sort of on a small island off the coast of Europe as a whole, no idea where, but that's where we are... And that means I'm hundreds, if not thousands of miles away from Turkey, where I then had to walk hundreds of smiles to Italy... And I had twenty-eight days left to that without counting escaping from this situation.
This is decidedly not one of my favorite experiences.
At least the flaming plane was providing warmth?
I'm trying real hard to find something of a silver lining here...
Oh! I know! I still have my bag, so I have some handheld games I could play while waiting on rescue. Plus I think I still got some food in here, might be a bit stale and squished, but my immune system has the combined weight of over eighty points of Constitution in it right now since all my boosts are still up, so it's not like I can get sick or anything from food poisoning.
...Maybe I should have waited on using up my Poseidon token on Styx's Legacy, this seems like it would have been a really good time to have something interesting for him...
Maybe I could swim it? No, that would be dumb. I'm out of mana, River Styx water regeneration or not, it'll still take me about half an hour until I'm back to max, so that's out... Once I get enough Mana I should move the water back to the jar.
Alright, time to go through my catalog of who I can ask a favor for or who I can make a deal with.
No...
No...
Maybe... I don't want to burn her good will yet on something like this. Plus I don't think she can actually help...
Her? Well, I don't know much but... Also don't really want to burn a possible bridge, plus I'll no doubt need a quest or task to make it even.
This is annoying, I can't come at this from a position of power, I'm at mercy here, they could ask for anything and I can't really say no, and since I'm already on a pretty tight time crunch, I can't really afford to say yes either.
Isn't this just a pickle?
Whelp, can't exactly do anything right now but wait on rescue, we were basically there, this is just an island off the coast of the Continent, it shouldn't be to far away, I'd ask the pilots but both are no doubt dead from the impact, considering just how fucked up I was... Then again I didn't have a seatbelt on so maybe... I should go looking for them then, get a timeline.
Or at least do something, I'm not really the best with just sitting on my hands and doing nothing. In fact I can't think of anything worse than this... At least I'm by the water so I can practice a few things while I wait...
Ugh! This already fucking sucks!
It took two days before the rescue boats got there, another day before we got on shore, it was...
Something.
People sort of went lord of the flies after the first night, a few tried going into the still burning plane to try and raid the first class section for food, I just pulled them back and kept them from melting alive, but not much more than that. I mean, I tried at the beginning, but no one wanted to listen to the small weirdly dressed child, so that was out, and then I gave up, mostly just fucking with the water and other stuff after that while the humans went crazy.
Thankfully, because I am a child, and for the time being willing to not correct people, also a girl in the eyes of authority, it was very easy to be one of the first people to board up and get shipped back to land.
The trip to Europe wasn't my favorite, but the second we landed on shore, I was more than happy to find a dinner and spend an ungodly amount of money on food, and then crashed instantly after I rented a hotel room. The next day, day seven of thirty-one, and I still wasn't even close to Turkey, I moved and got to work with that, studying a map for a long, long minute, before booking a new plane ticket, to the very border of Turkey, and then set off.
This time the plane didn't crash, which was good, but the layovers took a while, and by the time I arrived in the actual country I needed to be in, it was well into the afternoon, I was kind of tired, but... I also really couldn't just afford to not start instantly, so that's what I did, I got to walking.
I did a mapping of the distance a while ago, during the plane ride... and... one thousand eight hundred and seventeen miles... give or take, but that was the general distance. I found a trail guide book that told me the general distance a person can walk in a day, a trained walker can average at most thirty miles a day from walking eight hours straight. That was sixty days of walking for a normal human being.
I wasn't normal, so I doubled it, sixty miles in eight hours, and it was still thirty days, I did the math and decided to just skip sleep for half of that time, adding another eight hours, leaving me with eight hours every other day to rest, eat, and recover, without sleep in that time period.
That was twenty days in total, not counting monster attacks, which I was counting in the sixteen hour period in which I wasn't walking every other day. It was close, assuming not a single thing went wrong, I'd barely have five days worth of wiggle room, but if things did go wrong, I only had five days to get it sorted out. Otherwise this was all for nothing, and I did not get flung out of the sky to my death, only to rodeo a plane into landing singlehanded, for nothing.
So I started walking, at a solid and quick pace, my power walking being about as fast as most people's average sprinting speed, as I headed out of the city I had landed in, only just spending in front time to buy a near literal ton of ration foods, a sleeping bag, and a clip-on GPS, which was mostly just like a whole brick tapped to my side, but I spent a whole ass hour putting the damn path in, so I was going to use it. It'll keep me on track otherwise I'd probably get distracted or lost, or both knowing me.
I don't know how many miles I got out of the city by the time the sun had long since gone down, but I slept all the same, I needed to make sure I kept on a schedule, and I didn't own a watch, I needed some way of keeping track of the time, and the sun was the best way to do that.
The next few days passed in a blur to be honest.
I ate, I walked, I existed, sometimes I slept, but I figured out I only got the Exhausted status effect after two days of not sleeping, so I didn't bother to do as much of that after I figured it out, that's all there was to it. Just walk, eat, live, and on occasion sleep.
It was mind numbing, the only time I was broken from my thoughts was when a monster attacked. Apparently Turkic mythology had monsters, who knew? It was tiring, repetitive, and if it wasn't going to be worth it, I would have abandoned this so long ago, but apparently some things are worth the effort... The imagine of a small girl with wrong features played in my head every time I wondered if this whole thing was worth any effort at all.
And then I'd keep going, again and again.
It was... miserable, I've been on my own before, the first week I was alive, I never had more than one or two conversations a day, but after I got found by Alwin, there wasn't a day I hadn't been talking to someone, until I left camp, and that had been difficult, but I still found people to talk to, I meet gods and goddesses, I learned more about the world and it's forms of magic, I- Well, I was always busy, talking, joking, living...
This wasn't any of that, and jokes weren't fun when there was no one around to hear them.
I was lonely, with no plan to make or thought to have to distract myself from it. It was just me, alone, walking down roads, or through hills in the stretches of land that man hadn't touched, or across a river when the bridge was to far away to be worth it.
I didn't like it.
I didn't like it at all.
What do you lot think about the chapter pacing? It's fast, like, very fast, in my other current story, one arc usually lasts at least a few chapters, here we're doing two to three things at a time, big things as well. I don't know, I have to have it move fast, otherwise it's going to get real boring real quick, but it also can't be to fast, or everything get's real weird real quick, making it hard to keep track of everything that's happening, but that's true to the books as well. Once something starts, it's one thing after the other over and over. I mean, these books are thousands of words long, but most of the time, the entire events of the book only lasts about a week or two at the most, and I have a lot, of things to get set up, from magical systems or world building, to at this point, seven or eight mythologies and folklores that have already been interacted with by the main character... Needless to say, I'm doing a lot, and I'm trying to keep it from taking a few hundred thousand words before we get to the actual main plot.
Now, onto the chapter itself, slightly shorter and heavier one this time, always have to have humor in it, but... this was fell flat because I'm a horrible person who likes hurting and making things harder on the things I create, in this case Nick. Because... I don't know, I felt like it? That's usually my reasoning for doing things in my stories, usually they're just fun. Though I can say Nike is a really fun character, almost actually deep too, which is nice, which you wouldn't think from how he acts, but that's just a whole other thing ain't it? As a psychology buff, it's real fun to have a character who changes based on if there are people around and with a very interesting mix of world views he has. Anyways, See ya.
