"Hello, Martha Costello KC," says Clive's voice on the phone.
"Hi there, Clive Reader KC." Martha's eyes are on the television, watching live footage from Buckingham Palace. "It's sad news."
"Didn't have you down as a royalist."
"I'm not, but she did a good job." Martha perches on the end of the hotel bed. "I don't know what kind of king Charles is going to be."
"More importantly, what are you going to do about that QC tattoo?" Clive teases.
"Luckily it's in a place most people can't see it. Think I'll keep it as a tribute to Her Majesty."
"When are you coming home, anyway?"
"Trial's been postponed because of the news. I'll let you know."
"OK. We can FaceTime later if you like."
"Alright. See you later, Mr Reader."
"Bye, Mrs Reader."
