"No sex"

"Whaa?"

Callie adjusted herself atop Arizona's sleeping form on the bed, hands on either side of the blonde's head. She was so ready to meet Arizona's insatiable sexual cravings after two days of gap owing to her impromptu business meeting for which she had to fly to London. It was just a 42 hour trip and Callie had only agreed to go because Arizona & Lucia had practically forced her out the door. She returned late last night and Arizona was already asleep and she knows all too well now the consequences of awaking her pregnant wife.

But it's a new day now and Callie is so ready to rekindle their romance and she's sure Arizona won't be able to keep her hands to herself considering the blonde has been practically jumping her bones every chance she got. To an extent that Callie was borderline glad for the two days gap she got. But she has also missed Arizona tremendously and considering her wife is practically glowing, she can't wait anymore.

"I said…no sex!" Arizona said, a pout forming on her thin lips as she squeezed her arms in between her and Callie's body and crossed it at her chest.

"But why?" Callie whined, her arousal evident in her shorts, whining like it has a mind of its own at its own level….

"You smell like an airport" Arizona scrunched up her nose. Trying not to inhale Callie's smell. It was making her feel nauseated.

"I took a shower last night, and one this morning, I even brushed my teeth so I can kiss you" Callie replied incredulously.

Ever since the pregnancy, Arizona has been having a heightened sense of smell. She would get nauseated on the simplest of smells. To an extent that Callie had made it a habit to take a shower every time she returns from the office before approaching the blonde. Her body washes & shampoos have all been replaced by strawberry flavoured alternatives because that's the only smell that didn't make Arizona barf.

But Arizona's smell sensitivity never came in between their sex life, until right about now.

"Go away Callie. Your sweat is gonna make me puke"

And with that Arizona shifted from under Callie and ran straight to the bathroom to empty her stomach.

Callie sat on bed a bit baffled. She took a strawberry body wash shower this morning, brushed her teeth in strawberry flavoured toothpaste, had put on a strawberry print tank top and deep-pink shorts and yet Arizona just threw her away.

And her arousal was straining against her shorts.

"Oh! Will you please just shut up!" Callie hissed at the tent in her shorts annoyingly. Trying to make sense of what has just happened.

She doesn't even likes strawberries.

And she despises the colour pink.

Lucia racked up her share of frequent flyer miles over the next few months, flying back and forth, so she could dote over her daughter in-law. And the more Arizona started to show, the happier Lucia was. Callie warned her mother not to be so overbearing, but Lucia just rolled her eyes at Callie, and proceeded to pick out maternity clothes for Arizona, and food she should be eating, and books she should read. Lucia obviously didn't understand the meaning of overbearing.

Arizona was still trying to deal with the changes in her body, mentally and physically. She would never admit this to Callie or Lucia, but it felt as though some tiny little creature was inside her, and at any moment, it would pull an Alien, and she'd be Sigourney Weaver, trying to fight it off. She wondered how much weight she would gain. At first, when she stepped on the scale, it was fine. The next few times after that, she cringed. The last time Arizona stepped on the scale, she burst into tears.

And although Callie continued to assure her that she was the most beautiful woman in the world, Arizona still felt so awkward. And when Arizona got to the point where she could no longer touch her toes or even tie her shoes, she felt completely useless. Not to mention, she was now finding sexual intercourse abhorrent. She can't believe she & Callie had engaged in such a nasty, sweaty and smelly task to make a baby. Even the mere thought of it was making her gag.

It hadn't been easy to turn down Callie's numerous advances though and she was grateful for the patience Callie had been showing but she was also annoyed with Callie's consistent yapping of 'you look beautiful', 'you're glowing', when she was practically resembling a whale now.

But there were perks of being pregnant, which Arizona later figured out, much to Callie's displeasure.

Callie walked into the twenty-four hour grocery store that was all the way across town. Her eyes were half closed as she mindlessly walked up and down the aisles. Pickles...where the fuck were they? she thought. Once she saw a jar, she made a bee line to the aisle that housed peanut butter. The thought made Callie's stomach queasy.

When Callie finally made it to the cashier, she slowly reached into her wallet for cash, and just then the cashier started laughing. Callie looked up, barely able to focus. It was a young black kid, chuckling while placing Callie's items in a bag.

"What's so funny?" Callie mumbled, placing ten dollars down.

"Oh, nothing. Sorry lady, I was just tripping because it's two in the morning, and you're buying a jar of pickles and peanut butter. Your girl pregnant?"

"Yes."

"Mine too. She has me bringing home the craziest shit. So, I feel your pain," the young guy said, as he handed Callie her change.

Callie smiled. "Well, congratulations...and thanks for the support," she said, grabbing her bag to leave.

"Thanks lady, you too," the kid smiled back.

When Callie pulled into their driveway, Arizona was standing by the door, waiting on her. Jesus, Arizona was staring at the bag like it was a million dollars.

"I'll make it for you, just go back upstairs, okay," Callie whispered when she reached Arizona. Arizona nodded and Callie patted her rear when she turned around.

"Okay. But, um, just make sure to put extra pickles on it okay. I want a lot, you know," Arizona said over her shoulder.

Callie walked into the kitchen and quickly fixed what she figured was probably the two nastiest foods that could go together.

Arizona had awakened her, really wanting a peanut butter and pickle sandwich. Callie almost gagged at the thought. Once she made it, she poured her a glass of water and marched upstairs.

Arizona was sitting up in bed, waiting for her.

"Oh, thank you so much, baby," Arizona cooed, damn near snatching the plate from Callie's hand. Callie grinned and sat the drink down on Arizona's nightstand. Arizona definitely looked adorable when she looked at her food.

Callie crawled into bed and looked over at her wife. She was so cute. Her little feet were wiggling back and forth under the cover and she had the plate resting on her swollen belly.

Callie turned around and closed her eyes. She can now finally sleep.

Crunch, crunch, crunch.

Callie opened her eyes and slowly rolled over and looked up at Arizona. Crunch, crunch, crunch, she heard again, as her wife bit into the sandwich. She looked over at the clock. It was already three in the morning, and she had a meeting with her company at nine.

Callie rolled back over and placed a pillow over her head. Crunch, crunch, crunch. Damn those fucking pickles! The sacrifices we make for the ones we love. Callie squeezed the pillow tighter over her head.

Arizona had tried to catch an afternoon nap, when her phone started ringing. At first she hadn't planned on answering it, but she noticed on the caller ID it was her mother. She was sure she was calling to bug her about the status of the baby.

She and Callie had wanted to wait until the baby was born to know the sex, but the anticipation had been killing them. They had to know, and were pleasantly surprised when it was a boy. It honestly didn't matter to Arizona, but she could tell that Callie was secretly thrilled about that. Then came the hard part of deciding a name.

Arizona had wanted Cal Robbins-Torres, but Callie was dead set against it. She didn't like it and felt like that name was cursed. She said their kid needed a fresh start.

"Hey Mama," Arizona said, rising up from the couch to answer her phone.

Silence.

"Mama?" she asked again.

"Arizona, I um...damn," her mother whispered.

"What's wrong, mama."

Her mother paused again, before she spoke.

"Arizona, Daniel...died this morning," her mother said through sniffles.

Arizona couldn't breathe. She wasn't ready to hear this. She wasn't ready.

"No, mama," Arizona whispered, holding her hand over her mouth. She knew that this was a possibility, but she honestly thought that her father would fight through it. He couldn't possibly die.

"I'm going to take care of everything. And I'm fine, so don't try to rush back here. I'll let you know when the funeral will be, okay?" Barbara said, her voice no longer cracking.

Arizona nodded her head, knowing full well her mother couldn't see it, but she was still too shocked to speak.

Finally when she found her voice, she whispered, "Okay," and hung up. Arizona wasn't sure how long she sat there, but she couldn't move. She couldn't think. Her father was dead...and the last thing she ever said to him was throwing in his face that he had no one.

When Callie arrived back home, she knew immediately that something was amiss with Arizona. At first she thought the house was empty, because several lights were off. She called Arizona's name and walked upstairs to find her sitting on the floor in the baby's room trying to put together the expensive convertible baby crib Callie's mom had bought weeks ago.

"Hey baby," Callie said, eyeing her wife suspiciously. "I told you I was going to do that."

Arizona didn't look up. "I know, but I thought I could get a start on it." Arizona really didn't know what the hell she was doing. And for some reason the directions didn't make any sense to her. But she needed something, anything to keep her mind occupied.

"Are you alright?" Callie asked, kneeling down beside Arizona.

"Yes," Arizona answered, as she picked up a metal bar. "Well actually, I guess I should tell you that my father died this morning."

Callie was taken aback. "What?"

"He's dead," Arizona said, smashing one end of the metal bar into the wooden crib. It wouldn't fit, so she kept on banging it against the tan wood, trying to make it fit.

"Hey, hey," Callie said, grabbing the bar from Arizona. "Stop, okay. Just stop. Talk to me."

Arizona snatched the piece back. "I'm fine. I wasn't even close to him." She started pushing the metal bar into the wood again. "Shit, why won't this fit?!"

"Because it's the wrong piece. Now put the freaking bar down and look at me," Callie commanded. She knew Arizona was hurting. Her wife was extremely sensitive, especially in her condition.

Arizona threw the bar down and stared at her wife. Arizona knew it was coming. Those tears that were bubbling underneath the surface. Her bottom lip started to shake and she erupted into tears.

Callie immediately reached out to grab her wife. "It's okay, baby," Callie whispered, wrapping Arizona in her arms. She could feel Arizona's tears soaking the collar of her polo t-shirt.

"I—I was so me—mean to him the last time I sa—saw him," Arizona whimpered. She couldn't feel lower if she tried. In the back of her mind, she had expected her father to recover. Not to die alone in a cold hospital room.

"You didn't have the best relationship with him, and that's not your fault. He pushed away many opportunities to know the most beautiful, interesting and kind woman in the world. You reached out to him that last time, and you didn't have to. He rejected your plan to mend your relationship and there wasn't anything else you could do, baby. Trust me, you did more than most people would have done."

Arizona tried to calm her breaths, which were suddenly infused with hiccups. She closed her eyes and Callie slowly pushed her onto her back. She laid by Arizona's side on the floor, rubbing her hand over her full tummy.

"I probably shouldn't go to the funeral. But then again, if I don't show up, I'm not sure who else would, other than my mom. He didn't really have any friends, and didn't really want any."

Callie leaned over and kissed Arizona softly on the cheek. Knowing well that Arizona is still way too sensitive to smells even though this was the last month of the pregnancy and most of her unruly cravings and behaviour have subsided. "Arizona how about I go? Or we can both go? I'll be there for you either way you decide."

Arizona smiled for the first time since her mother had delivered the devastating news. "Didn't I use to not like you at one point?"

Callie laughed. "Oh, I heard 'I hate you, I can't stand you' a few times."

Barbara called back the next day to give Arizona some details regarding the funeral. It would be in two days and they were just having a small private service at her mom's old church. A church Arizona hadn't been to since she was five and they had an Easter egg hunt. Her father didn't like church people. He always used to argue with her mother that those women were always in their business.

"They don't do anything except gossip. Too busy gossiping to pay attention to what's going on in their own homes," he argued. Her mom would just shake her head, and every now and then go to church without him.

But before they could fly back, Callie and Arizona visited her physician and got a second opinion on her flying so late in the pregnancy. And that's where the plans changed. Owing to Arizona's previous miscarriage, the doctor advised against flying as it could stress the mother and the baby both. Callie suggested that she will go alone and help Barbara anyway she can. Lucia, Mark & Lexie will be taking care of Arizona meanwhile.

When Callie had her tickets, she called Carina and Alex to let them know she would be coming into town for a few days because of Arizona's dad. Of course, they were happy, but it was bittersweet, due to Arizona having to go through such a hard time.

After the longest travel day in Callie's life, she finally made it back to the city she started her life in. It felt a bit nostalgic but she didn't spared herself the time to think much. She needed to be back with her wife as soon as possible.

Once she arrived in town, she stayed at Arizona's mom's apartment. Callie had wanted to just stay at a hotel, but Arizona's mother insisted she stay with her. But before Callie argued, she figured Barbara didn't want to be alone during this difficult time, so she relented.

After Callie had called Arizona a thousand times to make sure everything was okay and called Lucia, Mark & Lexie to confirm everything was okay, she went back out and sat down at the kitchen table. Barbara was sitting with a warm cup of tea in her hand. This was the first time they had ever been alone together. Most of the time Arizona would be around them. Barbara turned to look at Callie. Gratitude written all over her face

"You know, I was scared when my husband got involved with your father," Barbara said, finally taking a sip. "I thought it was dangerous getting involved with the mob."

Callie slowly nodded but didn't say anything. She took in Barbara's appearance. She could definitely be a beautiful lady, but Barbara looked as though she had lived a hard life. There was no fire behind her eyes, no energy in her words.

"And then years later, my daughter getting involved with the mo—well, with you, frightened me even more. I was so scared that night she didn't come back from visiting your restaurant. And she refused to tell me what was going on...but a few weeks later, we started hearing some stuff. And it wasn't too nice," Barbara said, setting her cup aside.

Callie leaned back in her chair. "I realize that how we met isn't the ideal story. But aside from not being as gentle and kind as I could have been, I don't regret doing what I did. It brought Arizona and me together, and I am forever changed because of that. And I love her more than anything in this world."

Barbara stared at her beautiful daughter in-law. Gone was her menacing stare, all she could see in this woman's eyes was love and tenderness, "Well, with that I have to agree. I'm getting a grandson, so that should say something." And after a second pause, Barbara spoke again. "I—I never told Daniel about the baby. I regret that. I mean, who knows...that could have been the changing factor in how he saw Arizona. I mean, who can hate a baby, you know?"

Callie nodded again. "That might make Arizona sad, so I think we should keep that to ourselves," Callie suggested.

"I agree," Barbara said, as she sipped the rest of her drink.

Barbara had gone to the church earlier that day, to make sure everything was set up. Callie held onto her phone and kept talking to Arizona, as Alex drove her from the apartment to their destination. When they finally arrived, Alex parked the car on the busy street in front of the church.

"We have our whole street here. Even that evil Robert Stark" Barbara came rushing to Callie, talking a mile a minute. Callie could definitely see where Arizona gets her demeanour from. She smirked, hearing Arizona's gasp on the other side of the phone. Callie had to pull some strings to make everything happen. But it was so worth the contentment that Barbara and Arizona were feeling right now. Daniel Robbins might not be a good man, but he was still head of this family once and Barbara and Arizona both wanted him to depart as a soul people will remember.

"Well, I'm here to help you with everything, Mom. Let's go?" Callie smiled softly as she ushered the small woman inside the church. Happy to see finally Barbara feeling a little relaxed.

When Arizona was done eating the scrumptious breakfast Lucia had fixed her, she walked to the bathroom to relieve herself, but before she sat down on the toilet, she felt a major cramp. She grabbed the underside of her belly and rubbed. But then she felt it again. What the hell?

Arizona grabbed a hold of the sink before she felt a gush of liquid pour out from underneath her dress.

Holy shit!

Arizona stared down frantically at the water running down her legs. "Oh, God...no, no, no, no, please," she whispered, as she slowly opened the bathroom door. But no matter how much she prayed, Arizona knew her water had broken.

This can't be happening right now!

Not with Callie being miles away!

The doctor had told them they still had a week to go!

What the hell!

"Lucia," Arizona weakly shouted. "Ma!" she shouted a bit loudly this time, "I need to go to the hospital."

Lucia came around the corner, "Hey, what did you—oh my God!" She rushed over to Arizona and called for Lexie who was staying in the guest room with Mark. Mark had been asleep on the couch as the women rushed Arizona to the door. He immediately jumped up and grabbed his keys. The three of them helped Arizona into the back seat. Lucia got in the back with Arizona and Mark and Lexie sat up front. Their girls were already staying at Mark's parents house this weekend, so they didn't had to wait for the babysitter to arrive.

Mark called Callie, leaving voicemails, sending messages as they moved. He knew he won't have time to properly have a call with Callie so he left all the required information in the texts and voice messages.

They reached the nearest hospital within a few minutes and Arizona was escorted to a room. The nurses came in to examine and prep her.

Arizona was freaking out. It wasn't the clinic she and Callie visited. It was another hospital altogether. Her life was about to be changed forever, and Callie was nowhere around. She kept pleading to Lucia that the baby couldn't come right now. This wasn't even her physician she had been seeing over the past nine months. This was all so wrong.

"Whether you want him to or not, Arizona...he's coming. You have to focus on that." Lucia shouted as she held on to Arizona's hand tightly.

Arizona tried her hardest to listen to the nurses and the doctor, but she started crying. It wasn't supposed to be like this. But then the crying was no longer about Callie...it quickly became about the intense contractions she was having. They started coming harder.

She vaguely remembered her doctor talking about her not being fully dilated. Which meant more hours of pain. She felt Lucia grab her hand. She looked up into the warm brown eyes. Brown eyes similar to Callie's, and in a way, that calmed her down.

After a few more moments, she was told to take deep breaths. She did, but every breath started burning. "Aaah!" Arizona screamed, as she leaned back against the bed. She felt like she was being ripped in two. Callie would have made this all better. She always knew what to do to make everything okay. Her heart felt like it was breaking...among other things. The pain brought her mind back to the task at hand.

"Arizona, we need you to breathe, okay?" the doctor said.

"I can't, I can't," she yelled back. "It hurts too much, fuck!"

"Squeeze my hand," Lucia suggested.

"Yes, you can," the doctor calmly responded.

'This is not right' Arizona thought as another wave of pain seared through her, 'her baby is coming and Callie's missing it'.
