A/N: Set in S03E03.

Martha has just finished reciting Shakespeare. Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. She looks at Clive and sees him staring at her.

"Did you memorise that for court?" he asks.

"No. I had to learn it for a school assembly once." She smiles. "I was very quiet back then, believe it or not. I think the head teacher was trying to bring me out of my shell."

"It worked."

"Why are you telling me about the Sarah Stevens case?" Martha asks.

"I was hoping you could help me with the case," says Clive. "We are still friends, aren't we? Even though you don't want anything more than that…"

"Of course we're friends," says Martha, ignoring the other part. "But I don't see how I can help."

"This is the hardest case I've ever had to prosecute," says Clive. "Believe it or not, I'm not looking forward to cross-examining a grieving mother. I'm not a completely heartless bastard."

Martha shakes her head. "I'm sure you'll do a good job. Tough but respectful."

"That's why I need you." He looks at her earnestly. "I need you to look at the evidence with me, and tell me how to go about it. You're so good at cross-examining victims without coming across as, well, heartless. I need to borrow some of your integrity."

"I'll help if I can," says Martha. "But this doesn't change anything, with you and me…"

"I know, I know. Strictly professional."
