Hey, everybody. Back with another chapter. So, like has happened before, the final inspiration I needed for the plot kind of came overnight to me. I hope you guys like what I have planned for this story. Plus, I just finished a Marvel marathon today, so I decided to celebrate by posting this chapter.
This will be a shorter chapter, and mainly meant to lead into Barry actually meeting the Four. Hope you like it.
Also, I've got a lot of suggestion for Zac Efron as Johnny. While I would agree he'd be a good choice, he already plays a role in the MACU. He plays the older version of Sara and Snart's son. So, I'll be using someone else for Johnny.
Let's get to it.
heroflow1000: I will be doing Elseworlds, but not until Phase 4. We're still only in Phase 2.
Green Hal37: Yes, I did base the title off Rise of the Silver Surfer.
Arrowverse Fan 217: While not certain, I do hope to do a Spider verse style story in this. In any case, I do plan for Tobey Macguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Men to show up in my version of Crisis.
Chapter 2- Back to Earth-99
Barry grabs the small bag he's packed, then grabs the extrapolator off his bedside table. After double checking to make sure he has everything, he heads downstairs.
Wanda is in the middle of setting out lunch for the twins. As Barry comes into the kitchen, she looks up and smiles. She then walks over and gives him a quick kiss.
"Have a good trip. Say hi to everyone on Earth-99 for me," she says.
"I will. And I'll be back in a day or two," he says. He then turns around and walks out of the farmhouse.
Once he's outside, Barry stops where he is and raises the extrapolator. He presses the button and opens a breach, stepping through it a second later.
A few seconds later, he emerges through the portal on the other side, right in the dining area of the New Avengers Compound in California. Sitting at the breakfast bar, eating some sandwiches, are Rhodey and Wally.
"Barry!" Wally says happily, standing up and walking over to give Barry a hug.
"Good to see you too, Wally," Barry says.
Rhodey then walks over too, giving Barry a hug. "Barry. Nice of you to visit," he says.
"Of course, you guys. How are things on Earth-99?" he asks.
"Pretty boring, actually. We haven't had anything happen since that stuff on Earth-1," Wally says.
Barry laughs a bit. "Well, sounds like you guys are living the good life," he says. He then looks around and asks, "Where's everyone else?"
"Scott and Hope are in San Francisco, spending time with Cassie. Who knows where Logan is. Bruce is doing some training. And Oliver and Natasha are out on a date. But they should be back soon," Wally says.
"Well, while I'm waiting for them, I'll go say Hi to Scott and Hope," Barry says. He sets down his bag, then speeds out of the compound.
At his current speed, well over 100 times the speed of sound, it takes Barry only a minute to reach San Francisco. He finds Cassie's mothers home, and speeds into the backyard, where Scott and Hope, along with Cassie, Maggie, and Jim are all sitting around, having a barbecue.
Everyone jumps at the sound of Barry rushing in, and turns towards him.
"Barry!" Scott shouts. He jumps up and hurries over to give Barry a hug.
"Good to see you too, Scott," Barry says.
When they separate, Barry turns to the rest of the group. "Hello again, everyone," he says.
All four of them hurry up to greet Barry, including Maggie and Jim, who had met Barry following the defeat of Thanos. Jim then invites Barry to stay for lunch.
Barry has a great time with Scott and the others, enjoying some old fashioned barbecue and catching Scott and Hope up with what's happened to him since they last saw him.
"Do you think you can bring Wanda and your kids over some time?" Cassie asks Barry after about half an hour.
"Of course, Cassie. I'm sure Nora and Stephen would love to come and play with you," Barry says playfully.
"Yay! That would be fun!" Cassie says happily.
Right then, Barry's Earth-99 phone start to ring. "Excuse me," he says before answering the call with a "Hello?"
"Hey, Barry. Where are you? Me and Natasha just got back to the compound and got told you showed up for a visit," Oliver says over the phone.
Barry grins before saying, "Well, you weren't there, so I decided to go visit Scott. But, we're almost done with lunch here, so I'll head back down." He then hangs up the phone.
Barry looks at Scott and says, "Well, that was Oliver. He's back at the Compound, so I'm gonna head back."
"Alright. Great to see you again, Barry," Scott says.
"You too, Scott," Barry says before racing off.
A minute later, Barry speeds into the compound, coming to a stop in the training room, where he finds Oliver and Natasha sparring with each other.
As Barry speeds in, the two freeze and look at Barry. Then, Natasha breaks into a big smile and says, "Barry!" She then hurries over and gives Barry a hug.
"It's good to see you too, Nat," Barry says.
"Glad you decided to come for a visit. How's Wanda? How's the kids?" Natasha asks.
"Wanda's great. Sends her love. The kids are doing great. Stephen especially misses his godmother," Barry says, making Natasha smile even more.
"Say anything more like that, and Natasha's gonna go find the nearest extrapolator so she can go see her godson," Oliver says as he walks over to Barry.
Barry smiles, and gives Oliver a hug. Oliver reluctantly accepts it before pulling back. "It's good to have you back here, Barry," he says.
"It's good to be back. I've missed the Avengers. Sure hope you don't mind me staying for a day or two," he says.
"Of course not," Oliver says, glad to see his friend again.
(That night)
Barry plunks down besides Oliver and Natasha in front of the TV. They've had a pretty good day so far, and are ready to end it with a movie.
"Alright. What should we watch?" Barry asks.
"Let's see what's on," Oliver says, starting to flick through the channels.
Barry watches as the channels flick by. Then, something comes up, and he says, "Wait, stop."
Oliver stops before he can switch channels again, leaving it on a news report.
"In a new statement released today from Mr. Richards, the crew of his space mission has not yet suffered side effects from the radiation they were exposed to. However, Mr. Richards has said that, in the interest of safety, he will not be attempting to rebuild the spacecraft or to attempt a do-over. Physicians have confirmed Mr. Richards and the three other crewmembers have not yet exhibited any side effects. It is still unclear exactly what happened, but we hope that Mr. Richards may soon release a full account of what occurred on that botched mission," the reporter says.
Barry looks over at Oliver. "What's this about?" he asks.
"Oh, yeah. Some genius scientist built a spacecraft to conduct some experimental space flight. Well, not long after launch, the spacecraft got blasted by radiation, and the scientist decided to turn back," Oliver says.
"Who was the scientist?" Barry asks.
"Reed Richards," Natasha says.
Barry considers the name, then a memory surges forward. Back during the war with Ilan years ago, he remembers that Harry mentioned the name Reed Richards.
"Well, I think tomorrow I should go pay Mr. Richards a visit," Barry says.
And, I'll end there. I know, not the most fun. But I promise this will be the least exciting chapter of the story. Next chapter will be better.
I'll try and have the next chapter up within a week. Until then, leave a review, and stay tuned!
