Hey guys

Hope you all liked the last chapter

Previously:

Lucas and Riley have their second interview for Zay's project.

The rest of the week passes by with nothing significant happening.

Maya was extremely nervous about how Auggie would react to her apology.

Even though Josh had repeatedly told her that his nephew had already forgiven her, it didn't seem to help in calming her nerves down.

The gang drives to the Matthews' apartment where Katy and Shawn were also going to meet them as requested by Maya.

The four parents were sitting together waiting for their children to arrive so that they could find out what Maya was planning.

Shawn asks, "Do any of you have a clue about what Maya wants to tell us today?"

Katy adds, "She sounded a bit worried and scared on the phone"

Cory replies, "I don't know what she has to tell us, but she has been acting slightly weird lately. She's been demanding that Riley spend time with her, without really caring that my daughter might have other plans. I mean I understand that Maya is going through some things especially with Riley's wedding coming up, but she really hurt my kid. Auggie was quite down because of that but thanks to Lucas his mood was much better by the end of the day."

Shawn says, "First of all I think Maya is acting like that because she is afraid of things changing after Riley's wedding. Secondly, I can't believe you're actually praising the cowboy who's stealing your little girl"

Cory shrugs and replies, "What can I say? That kid really grows on you."

Topanga says, "Well I think, I have a slight idea about what Maya has to talk about. The girls called me a few days back asking about Auggie's likes and dislikes so that Maya could do something for him to apologise for her behaviour. Though I would prefer to hear about Riley and Maya sorting things out between them after having a proper conversation."

Katy replies, "That's a nice idea but somehow I think something else is also going on"

Shawn asks, "What else could possibly be going on?"

Topanga nonchalantly replies, "Well, Maya could decide to get married to Josh"

Shawn and Cory shout, "NOOOOOO"

Katy says, "I understand Shawn's reaction, but Cory, why are you screaming?"

Cory replies, "If Maya gets married to Josh, she becomes my sister in law. She never lets it go and if Josh proposes then the teasing will get much worse."

Shawn says, "Hey Josh never asked for my permission. There's no way I'm accepting their engagement if he proposed at least unless he asked for my permission."

Topanga retorts, "But, what if Josh got Katy's permission?"

Shawn immediately turns to Katy who says, "Josh didn't talk to me either, so relax"

Shawn sighs in relief and asks, "Did you have to scare me like that Topanga?"

Topanga smirks and replies, "Well, it's fun to watch you freak out about Maya, like Cory does about Riley"

Shawn and Cory shoot Topanga an annoyed look which she royally ignores.

Just then they heard a knock on the door, so Katy stands up to get the door.

The gang makes their way into the apartment with Josh walking in with a big, covered canvas.

Katy hugs her daughter and says, "Hey baby girl. It's really nice to see you."

Cory asks, "Josh, why are you holding a canvas?"

Josh replies, "Oh this is a little something for my nephew from my girlfriend"

Lucas adds, "Yeah and Maya is not even letting any of us see it"

Topanga smiles and says, "I'll just call Auggie"

Shawn asks, "Maya, why are all of us here?"

Maya replies, "Well first, I need to apologise to Auggie for acting selfishly. After that, there's something important I want to tell all of you about."

Just then Auggie enters the living room and says, "Mom said you wanted to talk to me Maya"

Maya takes a deep breath and replies, "First, I want to apologise for my behaviour the last time I was here. I acted like a very selfish person and hurt your feelings, so I am really sorry."

Auggie says in a chipped tone, "Thank you for your apology. I'm sure it wasn't easy for you to acknowledge your mistake."

Lucas calls out in a warning tone, "Auggie"

Auggie sighs and says, "Sorry for behaving rudely"

Maya replies, "It's alright. It's not like I don't deserve it."

Auggie says, "While that may be true, but it doesn't make it okay for me to behave like that, so I'm sorry"

Maya smiles and replies, "Well I actually decided to bring you a peace offering, just in case you didn't want to forgive me"

Auggie says, "Well, I kinda forgave you that day itself, but I'd still like to see your peace offering"

Maya gestures to her boyfriend to bring the painting forward, so Josh places the painting in front of Auggie, facing him.

Maya says, "Open it Auggie"

Auggie looks confused but he starts unwrapping his gift with some help from his uncle.

A few minutes later, he finally pulls the wrapping off the painting and is stunned to see a portrait of him with Lucas.

Zay, who was recording the whole scene, interrupts, "What did Maya give you, little buddy?"

Auggie replies, "It's a portrait of me with my brother"

Lucas looks astonished as he asks, "Wait, what?"

Riley smiles and replies, "It's a portrait of Auggie and you"

Lucas immediately turns to Riley and asks, "You knew about this?"

Riley nods, as Auggie says, "Thank you Maya. It's beautiful."

Josh finally turns the canvas around for everyone to see the portrait that Maya had made.

Farkle says, "I agree with Auggie. It's beautiful, Maya."

Smackle adds, "It looks so realistic"

Riley asks, "Why did you paint the background as blue?"

Zay replies, "It's turquoise actually"

Maya adds, "Turquoise actually represents brotherhood, so I figured it would be a good choice for the background"

Tears start welling up in both the boys' eyes on seeing the portrait and learning the significance of the background colour.

Maya explains, "I talked to Topanga to find out about the things that Auggie likes, but the conversation wasn't very productive. The only thing we could figure out was that Auggie really looks up to Huckleberry, or you could say that Auggie practically idolises Lucas. Just then Topanga mentioned that Auggie wanted to put up a few more pictures of their complete family, Lucas included, so I thought to make a portrait of them to start."

Riley pulls Lucas in for a hug, as Auggie replies, "I really appreciate it Maya"

Cory says, "I'm impressed, Maya. This is a really thoughtful gift."

Shawn adds, "You should start doing commission works because your art is amazing"

Maya replies, "Thanks a lot you guys"

She then turns to Lucas and asks, "Do you like it?"

Lucas blinks back his tears and says, "I umm… I don't really have the words. Honestly, I still can't wrap my head around the fact that you put so much effort to make it up to Auggie."

Maya replies, "Well, when you forgave me, you did say that I should do something really special to make it up to Auggie. This was the best I could come up with."

Lucas simply smiles in response and Auggie says, "This portrait is definitely going in my bedroom. Now can some of you guys help me take it there and put it up?"

Josh and Lucas help Auggie set up the painting in the little guy's bedroom, while the others wait for them outside.

Katy asks, "Baby girl, what is the important thing you wanted to talk to us about?"

Maya nervously replies, "I'll tell you guys after the guys come back"

Shawn whispers to Cory, "You don't think Josh actually proposed to her, do you?"

Cory whispers back, "I trust my brother to not do something that stupid, especially in such matters"

Riley smiles to herself just imagining the level of shock that her father and his best friend were going to get, when they would hear the news.

The boys come back to the living room and Josh makes his way over to his girlfriend.

Maya gestures to her boyfriend to bring up the subject.

Josh sighs and says, "So let's talk about the important thing that Maya wanted to tell you guys about. Now before we say anything I want you guys to know that we understand you guys might not have expected it, but we would really appreciate it if you guys would support us."

Cory exclaims, "Oh my god, you two got engaged"

Shawn shouts, "WHAT?"

Josh replies, "No, I promise you that we're not engaged"

Cory again exclaims, "Oh no, you eloped"

Shawn again shouts, "WHAT?"

Maya replies, "Matthews, I swear we are not married"

Topanga says, "Alright that's enough guesses from my stupid husband. Now will you two tell us what exactly is going on?"

Maya nervously replies, "Well we're not engaged and we do not plan on getting married anytime soon, especially given the circumstances."

Katy gives her daughter a look and asks, "Baby girl, are you pregnant?"

Maya nods shyly in response, as Shawn shouts, "NOOOO"

Cory turns to Josh and asks, "What is wrong with you?"

Josh replies, "Look, I know we probably shouldn't have done anything, but it was like a heat of the moment thing and I promise I used protection, but this still happened"

Topanga says, "Well we know that contraceptives are not always effective, so I guess we can understand. As much as I believe in consummating a relationship after you get married, I also know that not everyone believes in the same thing. I promise you that I will help you in any way that we can."

Maya replies, "Thank you Topanga"

Katy says, "And as much as I would have preferred becoming a grandmother at a much later age, I couldn't possibly leave me daughter alone on this journey"

Maya smiles with teary eyes and replies, "Thanks Mom"

Shawn turns to Cory and says, "Cory tell your mother that she's losing one of her offsprings today"

With that he starts moving towards Josh who hides behind his girlfriend to try and save himself.

Topanga says, "Shawn you are not killing my brother in law, so get back here right now"

Shawn retorts, "He impregnated my daughter. I have the right to kill him."

Topanga sternly replies, "You take one more step towards Josh and I will make sure that you regret it for the rest of your life"

Shawn sighs in defeat, knowing that he can't fight Topanga, before sitting on a chair.

Maya whispers to Josh, "Wow, you weren't kidding about him being afraid of Topanga"

Cory tries to argue for his best friend and says, "Topanga, you can't possibly let these two off so easily now. Come on Shawn has a right as Maya's father an-"

Topanga angrily cuts him off, "Go and sit down next to Shawn"

Cory meekly replies, "Yes ma'am"

With that he sits on a chair beside his best friend as Katy walks up to the two men.

Katy says, "Look Shawn, I understand that we were definitely not expecting this when Maya said that she had something important to tell us. I understand your feelings because Maya is also my baby girl. Even I am somewhat mad about the fact that my daughter is pregnant, but right now that is not what she needs. Right now, Maya needs the support of each and every person that loves her."

Shawn sighs and replies, "Alright I won't kill him, but only for Maya's sake. But if you hurt my daughter, then even Topanga won't be able to save you."

Josh says, "I promise that I won't hurt Maya, at least not intentionally. I'll always be by her side no matter what."

Shawn replies, "Alright then I guess it's okay. I don't like the fact that you got my daughter pregnant, but you're not the worst guy she could be with."

Josh looks confused and says, "Umm… Thank you"

Maya hugs Shawn and says, "Thank you daddy. I love you."

Shawn hugs her back and replies, "I love you too Maya"

They pull away after a few minutes and Maya goes to hug her mother and Topanga.

Cory turns to Lucas and says in a warning tone, "Now, I know that you're getting married to my daughter, but no funny business"

Lucas raises his hands up in surrender and promptly replies, "Wasn't even thinking about it"

Maya says, "Matthews you don't need to warn Huckleberry. It's your daughter you should be worried about."

Riley gasps, "Maya"

Cory shouts, "What?"

Topanga comes to her daughter's rescue and says, "Relax Cory, I'm sure Maya is just messing with you and trying to tease Riley"

Cory sighs in relief and replies, "Well that's okay, I guess"

With that they all sit together and talk about the upcoming baby.
