Hey, everybody. Back with another chapter.

So, this will introduce one of the villains of this story. I will spoil it a tiny bit: we've already met them. I will say nothing more on the matter though. You'll see soon enough.

Let's get to it.

Chapter 6- An Old Enemy Returns

Barry's face is emotionless as he races across Europe towards Berlin. His mind is racing almost as fast as he is, wondering who this mystery villain could be. Wondering who would go to such lengths just to try and draw him back to Earth-99 for a confrontation. And what this person could possibly want.

Reed had volunteered to send one of the team with him. However, Barry said he would be fine, and in any case, whoever this was wanted him. He didn't want anyone else to get mixed up in this.

As he reaches Berlin, he steels himself, ready to confront whoever this is.

Barry races towards the hotel where Morris said he'd been staying when he was knocked out and put under mind control. If there is going to be any clues as to who this person is that's waiting for him, it'll be there.

Barry races up the side of the hotel, taking a moment to glance into the room through the window to make sure that there is nobody inside the room. He then races into the hotel and up to the room, phasing right through the door.

Barry scans the room, looking for anything. The room looks as if someone has been staying there just recently. The only sign of the attack on Morris is a slight amount of blood on a table beside the door, and a chair in the corner with some rope next to it.

Barry walks further into the room, looking for anything that could be a clue. At first he sees nothing. Then, as he walks up beside the bed, he sees a slip of paper half hidden under the lamp on the bedside table. Barry slowly reaches out and takes the paper out from under the vase.

Barry unfolds the paper and scans the paper. A short message is written on the paper in unfamiliar handwriting.

"Flash. If you're seeing this, then my plan to bring you back to this Earth worked. Now, you will come to the warehouse here in Berlin where you, Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson, and Bucky Barnes once hid from the UN If you do not come there by the end of the day of you reading this message, I will destroy a building of my choosing here in Berlin, and will continue to do so every 6 hours afterwards until you come to the warehouse. Choose wisely."

Barry crumples the paper in his hand, angry at this unseen enemy for threatening innocent people just to get to him. "Well, whoever you are, you're gonna wish you'd never made me come back to this Earth," Barry says before he speeds off.

It takes Barry seconds to reach that warehouse where he, Steve, Fam, and Bucky had to hide in after Zemo set off Bucky. As he speeds in, he sees that it is in virtually the same shape as when he was last in here. As he walks in, he feels the memories of that time flooding back to him.

However, he quickly shakes his head, trying to return to the present. He has bigger things to worry about than old memories.

Barry looks around, and sees nobody. After a moment, he calls out, "I'm here! Whoever you are, you got what you wanted! I came! Now show yourself! Who are you?"

There is silence for several moments, then he hears a voice echo through the warehouse, "Really, Barry? I'm disappointed. How long have we known each other? And yet you pretend not to know me?"

Barry's heart freezes. He knows that voice. "No. It can't be," he says out loud.

"Oh, but it is, Barry. How many times have I told you…I'm always one step ahead," the voice says again. Then, there's a flash of red lightning, and Eobard Thawne, still wearing the face of Harrison Wells, appears in front of Barry.

Barry glares at Thawne with hate. "Thawne," he says in a venomous tone.

Thawne laughs humorlessly. "Hello, Barry. So good to see you again. It's been such a long time," he says.

"How are you still alive, Thawne?" Barry demands.

Thawne laughs. "Really? I thought you would have figured it out by now, Barry. I thought you were smarter than that," he says. He laughs mockingly, then says, "When your son and daughter came to me in the future, desperate for me to train them so they could defeat an evil speedster, I recognized my chance. I knew they had grown up without parents, and that all they desired was to be reunited with you and your wife. So, once I had prepared them and gotten them to trust me enough, I shared with them the secret of time travel. Once they travelled back in time, I knew it was only a matter of time before they would reverse the Decimation and defeat Thanos. And so they did. As the future I was trapped in began to disappear, the dampeners keeping me powerless disappeared. And you should know that with our powers, we speedsters are not easily contained."

Barry glares hatefully at Thawne. "You manipulated my children into setting you free?" he demands.

Thawne laughs. "Oh, Barry. I thought you would be grateful. I mean, had I not done so, you would never have gotten your wife and other friends back, would you?" he asks mockingly.

"You really think that makes up for all the awful things you've done? For all the people who have died because of you? No, Thawne. It changes nothing. Now tell me, why did you mind control Morris Bench just to bring me here?" Barry demands.

"Oh, I didn't, Barry. That was my partner. You see, I've realized that having extra firepower on your side is never a bad thing. And, as it turns out, there's someone out there who wants to get his hands on you. I couldn't think of a more perfect match for allies," Thawne says with a sadistic grin.

"And what do you get out of this, Thawne?" Barry demands.

"Once he's done with you, then I get to kill you," Thawne says, his evil smile growing ever larger.

"That's never going to happen. I'm going to take you down once and for all, Thawne," Barry growls.

Thawne laughs before saying, "If you want to, you're gonna have to catch me." He then pulls his cowl over his head and races off, with Barry immediately speeding off after him.

The two speedsters race through the streets of Berlin, their lightning surprising anyone it passes. Barry follows Thawne up a skyscraper, then leaps after Thawne from the roof of the skyscraper to another. He chases Thawne down the skyscraper, only for Thawne to stop and stick out his leg, tripping up Barry. Barry goes tumbling for several blocks before Thawne catches and punches Barry several times. He then grabs Barry's arm and whips him around, trying to slam him into the ground. However, Barry regains his footing and takes off running, with Thawne following him.

Their duel soon takes them to a park outside the city. They race around the park several times before Thawne manages to trip Barry and pin him to the ground.

"Our race is over, Flash," he says in his more monstrous voice. However, as he raises his vibrating hand, a jet of flame streaks out of nowhere and knocks Thawne flying.

Barry looks to the side and sees Johnny landing a few yards away. "Whoa. Déjà vu," Barry says, remembering when Ronnie similarly saved him from Thawne years ago.

Johnny walks over and pulls Barry to his feet. "Come on, Allen. You're better than that. Let's kick this guy's a**," he says.

Barry grins. "Yeah. Let's," he says.

Barry then speeds towards Thawne as Johnny takes to the air again. Barry chases Thawne around the park several times before a fireball from Johnny hits at Thawne's feet, knocking him flying. Barry then runs and punches Thawne several times before shoving up against a rock wall. However, as he goes to punch Thawne again, Thawne phases out of Barry's grip and runs off before coming back in to deliver a punch that knocks Barry flying. However, before he can attack again, he's hit again by a fire stream from Johnny.

Johnny again flies down and helps Barry to his feet, and the two face Thawne. Thawne turns to them and laughs before saying, "I see you have new friends, Barry. I say we call this a draw. Especially, as I think, by now, your friends will soon be dead in New York. My partner will have seen to that." He laughs again before saying, "See you soon, Flash." He then disappears in a flash of red lightning.

Barry turns to Johnny. "How did you get here so fast?" he asks.

"Reed. He used that extrapolator thingie to send me here. He didn't want you coming here without reinforcements," Johnny says.

Barry just nods once before saying, "Well, we can catch up later. Now, we need to get back to New York ASAP." He pulls out his extrapolator, sets it for New York, and presses the button to open the breach. He and Johnny then leap through it, wondering what they're going to encounter on the other side.

And, I'll end there.

So, yes. Thawne has returned. I knew I didn't want to wait too long after showing him escape in the future before I brought him back, so I decided to bring him back here. It also won't be his final appearance in this series, though I'm not yet sure when his last appearance will be.

And yes, Thawne is not working alone. His partner will be revealed soon, though.

Next chapter will hopefully be up tomorrow. Until then, please leave a review, and stay tuned!
