Liv is sitting in her bed at home, propped up on her pillows staring at the television that is turned off. Fitz has called her so many times she lost count. Each call reduced her to tears. He sent text messages saying, I love you. That just made the tears fall harder. Edison showed up at the hospital to take her home, much to even her father's chagrin but he kept quiet. Savannah keeps asking questions and Liv's resolve is crumbling for her day by day. She can't explain it to them without revealing her secret. And her father he already thinks…. she's compromised her name. Which she's done and she has no one to blame but herself.
There is a knock at the door. She doesn't react to it. "Olivia, you can't go anywhere. So, I know you are there."
Liv hears her father's voice and groans. "Come in," she says.
Eli comes in, leaving the door open. He surveys the room, hating to see his daughter like this but grateful it wasn't worse. "You haven't eaten any lunch. What do you want?"
"I don't want anything," Liv says.
"Olivia, you have to eat," Eli says.
"Dad, I just want to be alone."
"It's been a week since the accident and a week since…"
Liv stops him, "I really don't want to talk about this right now dad."
"Olivia, we have to talk about this plus I had lunch with Fitz yesterday," Eli announces.
Liv's eyes stretch wider than saucers, "You had lunch with Fitz."
"Yes, I did because he's been calling you apparently and calling the house and you've done everything to ignore him. We had a nice long talk about you, Savannah, and Edison. I want to know what is going on with Edison."
"We've decided to see where things go, that's all," Liv says, never looking her father who knows when she is lying in the face.
"Fitz tells me that before the accident, you two decided to see where things go and 24 hours later, you were committing yourself to Edison."
Liv looks up at him with a resolve, "I thought you liked Edison. You were upset I broke up with him. Now you are upset I am back with him."
"Don't try to play mind games with me Olivia," Eli says.
Liv sighs, "I just don't think I gave Edison a real shot." She almost chokes on her words as she looks back down at her sheets that she's nervously balling between her fingers.
"Olivia," Eli says sternly.
"Why were you having lunch with Fitz?" Liv asks.
"Because he came to me," Eli reveals. Liv just looks away. "You know why he came to me?"
"No," Liv says softly. She is trying to keep her tears at bay.
"He wanted to apologize to me for the fight in the hospital room and he wanted to explain his side of things. How you two met and what happened? He didn't offer details which I didn't want but he offered an apology for his behavior and to let me know that he loved you."
Liv can't help now but let the tears fall, "I am sorry I had to hurt him."
Eli gets up and paces the floor, "You never have to hurt anyone. You choose to hurt someone."
Liv interrupts him, "Daddy, please trust me."
"Let me finish," Eli starts. "I respect the fact that he came to see me. That he sought me out to apologize for his behavior. You know who didn't offer me an apology, Edison." Liv drops her head again. "That's when I knew Fitz was a good man. I might not like your beginnings, but a real man does what he did. He thinks that something is going, and I do too."
Liv pushes up on the bed, "I know that it was embarrassing to hear I had a one-night stand. I know you think the worst of me for it and I am sorry to embarrass you that way," Liv explains.
"Am I disappointed you acted reckless like that, yes. But I will never be embarrassed by you Olivia. You and your sister are my greatest accomplishment," He answers.
This statement hits her painfully. She feels like he would be embarrassed by her, if he knew what Edison was holding over her head. "I love you so much daddy. I really do. That's why I can tell you that as much as I care for Fitz," she takes a big gulp, "I have to follow my heart."
"Is Edison really your heart?" Eli asks.
Before Liv can answer, she's saved by the much-wanted intrusion of Savannah. "The party's in here."
Liv and Eli look in her direction, "No, I was just checking on your sister and we are talking."
Savannah can feel the tension in the air, "I am sorry I interrupted."
Eli gets up, giving Olivia the eye. "We are not done with this conversation," he says to Olivia. "But I am going to go give the nurse her walking papers for today and make my girls some dinner."
"Daddy, I was thinking I could treat you all to dinner tonight," Savannah says, trying to cut the tension.
"I am not really in the mood to go out". I am all bandaged up and a cast. I look like an accident," Liv says quickly.
"Liv, you are stuck in this house all day. You might have bandages and bruises, but you are alive and that's all that matters. Getting out will be good for you."
"Your sister is right. Are you going to stay in this house until you are better?" Eli asks.
"It's hard for me to get around easily and you know I hate that wheelchair.
"You are going to dinner," Savannah answers.
Liv takes a breath, "Fine, I'll go to dinner."
"Don't sound so excited," Savannah laughs.
"Are you going to help me get dressed?" Liv says, looking at Savannah.
"I help you take a bath, don't I?" Savannah laughs. Liv rolls her eyes.
"Okay, I'll go downstairs and let you two do your girly things. And Olivia, we will continue this later," Eli reiterates.
Liv doesn't say anything as Eli leaves and closes the door behind him. "I figured the conversation was heated, that's why I interrupted," Savannah says.
"He had lunch with Fitz. Why are they meeting up?" Liv says quizzically.
"You know how dad is, when he wants answers, he will get them."
"But why can't he just accept my decision to be with Edison. Is that too much to ask?" Liv protests.
Savannah turns to her, "Because we both know that something is not right here Liv. You and Fitz are these, star crossed lovers who found each other," Savannah starts.
"Thanks to you," Liv says.
"And you two decide to get together or make a go of it and in 24 hours your heart is with Edison. Something is going on Liv. We both know it."
"You and dad have to stop being suspicious. Edison and I are just trying to see where we can go from here. I didn't see Fitz for two years. In those two years I had something with Edison and…"
"And at my party, you said how you didn't understand why Edison wouldn't give up on you and now all of sudden, you only have eyes for him. I don't buy it and you know dad is not buying it," Savannah interrupts.
"I need you both to trust me V. I need you two to trust me. Just accept Edison with open arms and everything will be fine," Liv says.
"What does that mean? Is he going to hurt us if we don't," Savannah says sarcastically.
Liv doesn't answer but her face is telling a story to Savannah. "Is Edison threatening you?"
Liv whips her head in Savannah's direction. "Threatening me," she fumbles her words. "Why would you ask me that?"
"I am just trying to understand. It hurt me to see it or admit it because I was thinking about myself and my feelings, but I saw it between you and Fitz. I heard it when you talked about him that morning. You are in love with him, just like he's in love with you. So, something doesn't add up here Ollie, it just doesn't."
Liv rolls her eyes at the Ollie name, but it was something her mother called her. It was a term of endearment. "V, I need you to trust me on this one. I need you to trust that I know what I am doing. That I am doing what have to do."
"I just don't believe that breaking Fitz's heart is something you want or have to do."
Liv can feel herself letting go of her emotions. She wants to tell her sister everything, but she can't. "I thought we were supposed to be getting ready for dinner."
"Mom always said she had strong girls, but you have always been as stubborn as a mule," Savannah says.
"I guess I had to have one flaw," Liv tries to laugh off.
"Okay, you don't want to talk but I am here if you need to talk. Whatever it is you feel you can't tell me, you can."
"There is nothing I need to tell you," Liv insists.
"I am going to go and get ready and then I will come back and get you ready," Savannah says. She realizes she's not getting anywhere with Olivia, but she knows that Olivia is lying. She turns back and looks at Olivia who is already somewhere off in space in her thoughts. She hopes that what she is doing tonight is the right thing.
Liv sits alone in her thoughts. She holds her phone. It would be so easy to just call Fitz and tell him what's going on, but then will he understand. Telling him means showing him her secret. The hand grenade she's holding in her possession that could end her reputation and her career before it even starts. Her phone rings, it makes her heart jump. She almost wishes it is Fitz, but she looks down to see it is Edison. She rolls her eyes and takes a breath, "Hello!"
"Try to sound more excited to talk to your man," He quips.
"What do you want Edison?"
"I want you to remember you are supposed to be a happy and active participant in this relationship. You, showing me effort determines whether I pull that trigger finger," He threatens.
"I dumped Fitz. I broke his heart and chose you. I am lying to him and to my family. What more do you want from me?"
"I want the girl that was ready and willing to be with me not too long ago. I want you and I usually get what I want," he reminds her.
"Yes, by threatening people and blackmailing them. What we did back then was a mistake and I told you then, it shouldn't have happened and that it couldn't go any further. You said my friendship was enough," Liv says sadly as she is on the verge of tears.
Edison lets out this almost maniacal laugh. "You and I fucked all over my office. In many great positions. You think I want you as a friend. I look forward to going in my office every day. The memories, they are good ones. Tell me you don't have good memories."
Liv is quiet. She almost can't believe the man on the other end of the phone. He's crass. He's rude. He's conniving and manipulating. That wasn't the guy she met too long ago or maybe this is who he always was. She made a bed she now has to lie in. "I have a lot of memories and in none of those memories were you this man. But masks are funny that way. They hide things."
"You and I have the potential to take this world by storm. I know a great asset when I see one. You are a beautiful and smart woman Olivia. We could start our own firm. Make our own corporate ladder. Our future is brighter than you are allowing yourself to see."
"Why do you want someone who doesn't want you.?"
Edison is holding one of the photos in his hand. He runs his finger across her ass in the picture, "I believe you have all the incentive you need to love me."
Liv can't help but let the tears fall. "Why are you calling?"
"It's been two weeks since the accident and you've put me off. I let it go because I figured you needed some space, but I would like to see my girlfriend. I would like to spend some time with her," He explains.
She takes a breath, "Tonight is not a good night. I am going out to dinner with my family."
"Perfect, I can be there in 45 minutes."
"Edison it is dinner with my family."
"I will be family Olivia, at least I will be," he says sternly.
Savannah knocks on the door, "I'll be in, in 20."
The tears fall as she sniffles. She hates all of this. "You can come in." Liv says.
"So, I'll see you in 45 minutes," Edison repeats. Savannah enters the room.
"Yes, but can you meet us at the restaurant. I'll text you the place," Liv says as she hangs up the phone before he can answer her. She can't help but cry. Savannah rushes to her side.
"Liv come on, what's going on? And you better tell me. Dad is hot on your tails he knows something is going on and I know it is too," Savannah explains.
Liv tries her best cover. "The pain comes and goes and sometimes it is worse that other moments. I am fine."
"Liv you are lying. I know you are."
"V can you just drop it?"
"I can drop it if you can," Savannah throws back at her.
"Edison is coming for dinner with us. He is going to meet us at the restaurant," she announces.
Savannah jumps up, uncharacteristically, "He can't come to dinner. He wasn't invited."
Liv is surprised by her reaction, "What? Why?"
Savannah realizes how she sounds. She doesn't want to come across suspiciously, "I didn't mean it the way it came out. This is a family dinner. The last time I looked, he wasn't in the family yet. Unless you have another surprise to share with us."
Olivia stays silent but knowing too much silence will make Savannah think the worst. "No, we aren't married or engaged. I haven't seen him in two weeks. He's getting antsy."
"And what about you?"
"Are you antsy to see him?"
Liv swallows hard, "Of course."
Savannah bites her lip. She is holding back some words. "Okay."
"I know you don't like him although you used to. Can you do this for me?"
Savannah can see the pleading in Liv's face, almost the fear. And it suddenly hits her, she has to make a call. "I'll be right back to get you dressed. I have to make a call right now. Something I forgot at the hospital." She hates lying to her sister, but she is.
"Okay, it's not like I am going anywhere quickly," Liv says confusingly
"Be right back," Savannah says as she rushes out.
Liv's phone vibrates. It's a text from Abby: Guess where we are going tonight?
She misses hanging out with her best friends, especially right now. But she can't hang out with them. They will see right through her Edison lies. She responds: Where?
We are going to Fitz's club. I know you want to come with us. Abby answers.
Why would I? Liv responds.
Because you still want his sexy ass. I don't believe for a second you want that boring Jell-O cup. Abby says with a rolling eye emoji.
For a moment she wishes she could entertain the notion of seeing Fitz. She wants to see him so badly. She's come so close to responding to his numerous texts and simply telling she loves him back, but she can't. She quickly throws the thought out of her mind. Why would Fitz want to see her? She's hurt him in the worst way. She answers Abby. I have dinner with my family and Edison tonight.
It takes Abby a few minutes to respond. She knows that her and Harrison are probably discussing her. Abby announces, Harrison and I are coming over there to drag the truth out of you. We know something is going on. What did fucker do to you?"
Liv shakes her head. She hates lying to her friends. She's literally lying to everyone. But most of all, she's hurting the man of her dreams and losing him in the process. Or so she thinks she is. She simply texts back, Have a great time!
Savannah comes back in as Liv is staring at her phone. "I'm back. Sorry and I am sorry about before. Of course, you can invite your boyfriend."
Liv is staring at one of Fitz's text messages that he sent the day before, it simply says, I love you and I don't know what's going on, but I am not giving up just like that. I waited for you. He can't just have you.
"Ollie did you hear me," Savannah says.
Liv looks up at her solemnly, "Do you think Fitz will ever forgive me?" Eli has made his way up the stairs and hears Olivia's question to Savannah.
Savannah doesn't know how to answer that question. "I can't pretend to know Fitz well enough to know how he handles situations like this but…he loves. I saw that. I see that. He's probably hurt. He's probably devastated."
"He is hurting because of me," Liv says.
Savannah shakes her head, "Again, I don't know why you are doing what you are doing but I hope it's worth it."
"Daddy always says you protecting people you care about," Liv answers.
Savannah ponders her words, "Maybe he should know that he needs protecting." Eli ponders Olivia's words himself. He nods and goes into his room to change his shirt.
"We don't want to be late for our reservations," Liv deflects.
Fitz is sitting in his office, clenching his jaw. Seems like nothing is going right today. Just when he thought his day was going to get better. Something or should he say someone threw a wrench in it. He's pissed and that is understatement. He looks at his phone, he's about to call his mother when there is a knock at the door.
"Come in Huck!"
Huck walks into Fitz's office. "Sounded urgent on the phone boss."
"Please tell me you got something on Edison Davis. I need something, anything."
"I am trying to crack his cellphone and emails. He's got that locked up with some serious firewall protection, but I am close," Huck answers.
"You have to hurry up. He is planning something. I am sure of it," Fitz says.
"Like what?"
"I don't know. I just have a bad feeling about this and about him. And I feel like I am going to lose her if I don't do something."
"You are still convinced he's forcing her."
"Yes, I am. I know what Liv said to me that night. Edison was nowhere on her radar. Something is going on. We have to figure out what it is before it's too late," Fitz answers.
"I am working as fast as I can," Huck says as he studies Fitz face. "Do you think she's in danger? Do you think he's going to hurt her?"
"Physically, no," Fitz answers as he looks at his watch. "I need to go. I have somewhere to be."
"Are you staying out of trouble boss?"
Fitz stops at his door, "I don't think I am. But I think it is worth it." He starts out again and turns again to Huck, "Lock up my office when you leave."
"Yes sir," Huck says.
Dinner is tense to say the least. Eli didn't expect to see Edison show up. Savannah is fidgeting because she knows this could really get bad. Liv tries not to make eye contact with her father as Edison has himself draped around her.
"When I called Liv, and she told me you all were going to dinner. I was happy for the invite," Edison says grinning in Liv's direction.
Savannah rolls her eyes, which Eli takes note of. "Well, I am glad you could join us too." Eli says. Eli clears his throat, "So, how is everything going at the firm?"
Edison takes a sip of his wine. "Everything is going well. I am on track to become Partner in a year. I keep trying to persuade your beautiful daughter and my beautiful girlfriend here to take the Associate open position we have."
"Edison," Liv utters.
"What?" Edison almost snickers. "We would be stupid to let Sally Langston take you."
"It's a very prestigious firm," Liv reminds him.
"So is our firm," Edison says.
"I am proud that my daughter is so sought after. I think she can't go wrong with either," Eli interjects.
"I think you should go with the firm you want Ollie," Savannah adds.
Liv notices the dig Savannah is making. "Edison thinks we can be some legal powerhouse," she looks at him. "But for now, I think I need to start with Langston. She is a brilliant lawyer. She started the firm all by herself, a woman, and made it what it is. I like her story. As a woman starting out, I think this will be good for me. Maybe I'll start my own firm one day."
Eli smiles, "I have no doubt you can do that."
Edison studies her. He looks at Eli, "I know she could too."
Savannah looks up to see Fitz enter the restaurant. She looks in his direction intently. She excuses herself from the table. Fitz looks at her coming toward them. He notices Edison sitting almost on top of Liv. He immediately sees red and wants to break Edison in half. "So, that's why you scooped me up for dinner at the last minute," his mother says.
"I am sorry I got you here under false pretenses." Fitz says as they are shown to their table. Liv doesn't know he is there.
"All is forgiven. I will do what I can to help my son, you know that," she studies the competition. "So, that's the guy?"
"That's the guy," Fitz answers as he takes his seat. Savannah is coming in their direction.
"I don't like him already," his mother answers.
"I want to break his neck," Fitz says.
"I should break your neck," Savannah says as she makes it to the table. "I'm sorry for being rude. Hello Mrs. Grant."
"Good to see you again."
"Fitz, why did you come?"
"Because I haven't seen her since the hospital. She won't answer my calls. She won't answer my texts. I just wanted to see her."
"I am sorry our little plan didn't work but let's not cause any trouble."
"I am not going to cause any trouble. I just want to see my girl. Even if it is from afar," Fitz answers, looking in Liv's direction.
"I better get back before they get suspicious. Promise me, you won't do anything."
Fitz is slow to respond, so his mom does. "He won't do anything."
Savannah starts to leave, and Fitz stops her. "I want to talk to her before this night is over. You have to make it happen."
"I don't think I can. Edison is."
"Please Savannah," Fitz pleads.
Savannah sighs, "I'll do what I can," she answers as she walks away.
His mom knows what she is about to say is going to be an unpopular opinion with Fitz. "Son," she starts.
"Mom don't ask me to give this up. I waited two years to find her again. I found her and we were going to make a go of it and in a few ours she changed her mind. I know something is wrong. This is not her decision."
She hates to see her son hurting this way. "But what if this was her decision. Maybe you have to respect that."
"And just give up," Fitz asks.
"No, just respect whatever that decision is. If you love her as much as you say you do, then respect whatever it is that makes her happy."
"I make her happy. She told me that. I have to believe that there is a force against us that's breaking us up before we ever got started." Fitz says as he watches Edison rub her back.
"I hope you are right because otherwise I am going to hurt her, for hurting you."
Savannah is watching Fitz from afar. She can see that anger in his face. Liv notices that Savannah is preoccupied. "Is everything okay V?"
"Everything is good," Savannah shakes her head.
"Well, I am glad that we are all here as a family," Edison says that makes Liv's skin crawl at the mention of family. Edison turns looking at her, "This is something I can do with everyone here."
Liv can see something in Edison's eyes. "Edison what are you doing?"
Edison pulls a box out of his pocket. "I want to ask you, with the two most important people in your life here, the most important question I'll ever ask you."
Liv reacts, knowing what he is about to do. Her father's eyes bulge. Savannah's eye stretches. She looks in Fitz's direction, hoping he's not watching this. "You can't do this."
"I am going to do this. I want you to be my wife, Olivia Pope. I need you to be my wife," he says as he pulls the ring out and reaches for her hand. Olivia doesn't want to extend her hand to him.
"Edison," she says softly.
"Olivia, will you marry me?"
Liv is almost shellshocked. She looks at her father and Savannah. She hears their words from earlier ringing in her ear. "I need time to think about it."
"What is there to think about?" Edison says, looking at her as if to say, she has no choice.
Fitz looks in their direction. He can see Edison holding something in his hand. Savannah looks toward him. She's hoping her father and Liv, especially Edison doesn't realize Fitz is there.
"You want me to get on one knee," Edison asks.
"Edison," she says.
Edison gets on one knee. Everyone sitting around them react. Fitz looks up to see what the commotion is. Fitz and his mother look up to see what everyone is reacting to." Olivia Pope, will you make an honest man out of me and be my wife."
Fitz realizes what is going on. He throws his napkin on the table ready to go over. His mother grabs his arm, "You can't go over there."
"You expect me to let this happen, like hell," Fitz says.
Just then Eli realizes that Fitz is there. He sees him in the distance. He must focus on his daughter who is caught between a rock and a hard place with everyone watching. "I don't know what to say," Liv says.
"Say yes," Edison grins almost evilly.
She closes her eyes. She wants to scream. She wants to cry. She feels like she can't say no. Right now, she knows she can't say no. "Yes," she says almost inaudibly.
Edison grins, putting the ring on her finger. He places an unwanted kiss on her lips. Everyone on the surrounding tables clap their hands. Edison beckons the waiter over to bring their best champagne and some glasses. Fitz walks out of the restaurant to get some air. Eli watches and his mother doesn't know what to do.
Edison lays the celebration on thick as Eli can see that Liv is anything but happy. They sit and drink champagne as Eli reaches over to Savannah, "This dinner was about getting her and Fitz in the same room. I saw him over there."
Savannah shakes her head, "I tried. I wanted them to talk."
Eli pats his daughter's hand as he looks over at his other daughter who is miserable. Unexcitedly, he says as he raises his champagne glass. "I guess congratulations are in order."
Edison smiles, "I am going to take very good care of her," he says to Eli.
"You better," Eli says.
Liv doesn't say anything. Edison insists on taking Liv home and she doesn't argue because she wants to talk to him.
Fitz drops his mom off as he goes back to his club because Huck wants to meet him there. He walks right into Abby as he goes into the club.
"Well hello Mr. Sexy," Abby says.
Fitz is so focused on meeting Huck, he almost doesn't here her. He is still fuming. "Oh, hello Abby."
Harrison walks up just in time. "What's up Grant!"
Fitz is seeing red. He just blurts out. "Olivia is engaged."
Both Harrison and Abby look at him shocked. "What?" Abby says.
"What are you talking about?" Harrison asks.
Before Fitz can answer, he sees Huck and walks in his directions.
Abby is more than confused. She looks at Harrison. "He must have it wrong. Liv didn't tell me she was engaged tonight. Just that she and Edison was going to dinner with her dad and sister."
"What the hell is going on?" Harrison says.
Fitz and Huck are in his office. "Please tell me you have something."
"Mr. Davis has been a busy boy. He loves the women. The pretty women at that."
"What did you find?"
"I don't think you want to see what I found. It was a year ago, but I found it and some others."
"What the fuck did you find?" Fitz asks. To say he is angry right now is an understatement.
"I found a video of Olivia and him in his office," Huck says almost reluctantly.
"In his office, okay," Fitz says.
Huck is trying his best to break it to him gently. "Well…"
"Would you just spit it out?"
"They were having sex in his office," Huck says.
Fitz doesn't say anything. His face says everything it seems to say. "They were having sex in his office." Fitz hates to ask the next question, but he has to know. "When?"
Huck just kind of stretches his eyes. "It was a year ago, but he taped it."
"He taped them having sex," Fitz says angrily.
"Seems he takes videos of everyone he has sex with in his office. That's not the only one I found."
Fitz feels physically ill. "How many?"
"Videos, there's about a dozen," Huck answers. He realizes the wind is knocked out of him. "They aren't all with Liv. There were other women. They all look young, like interns."
Fitz shakes his head. "Liv probably doesn't know. I have to tell her."
"Sir, don't you think she is going to want to know how you know?"
"I don't care about her knowing. He proposed to her tonight. I have to stop this," Fitz says as he hurries out of his office.
Liv and Edison are sitting his car. Liv hasn't said one word to him in the drive home. Edison knew that cornering her in front of her family would be just what he needed to get what he wanted.
"Are you just going to stay silent?" Edison asks.
"I can't believe you did that," Liv says, shaking her head.
"It was going to be the logical first step. I didn't do anything I wasn't going to do anyway."
"But to do that, that way, you knew I couldn't tell you no. This is all too fast Edison. We are far from ready for marriage. You think I can stand to stand before guy and pledge my undying love for you."
Edison laughs, "Oh but I bet you saw wedding bells with that Thomas Jefferson, who only wants a Sally Hemmings. He knows a good piece of ass when he sees it. Well, he can't have it. You are mine. He can never have you."
Liv is more than angry, "He already had me. And he doesn't think of me as a piece of ass."
Edison looks at her shocked. "I thought you were smarter than that."
"Smarter than what?"
"Then to be the white man's toy," Edison shakes his head.
"Why not? I am being your toy. You are threatening to ruin my life because I was your toy. And instead of excepting that you are blackmailing me."
He realizes he went to far, "I am sorry."
Liv looks at him with a disgusted expression. "For what? Calling me a piece of ass, calling me stupid or blackmailing me."
He tries to touch her, "You aren't stupid….and not a piece of ass."
"Let me out," Liv says shaking her head.
"Listen, I meant what I said to your father. I am going to take care of you and in time, you will see, you and I are perfect for each other."
"Give me my crutches," she answers.
"Let me walk you to the door," Edison offers.
She wants to say no but she needs the help. "Whatever," she answers.
Edison brings her to the door and Eli opens it. He helps Olivia in. Edison gives her a chaste kiss on her forehead. "I'll come over tomorrow."
Eli thanks him, half-heartedly and closes the door. Liv is trying to go to her room, which for now is downstairs, Eli stops her. "Olivia, we need to talk."
"Daddy, I'm tired. I know you want to talk but I can't tonight," Liv shakes her head as she looks up to see Savannah and then back at her dead. "Please daddy."
"Okay," Eli agrees.
Liv looks at Savannah, "Can you help me?"
"Sure," Savannah says as start toward her room. Eli goes into the kitchen to make a pot of coffee. Her and Savannah make it into the room. She helps Liv to the bed, then gets her pajamas.
Liv is looking down at this gaudy ring Edison bought. It's everything she hates in jewelry. It's too expensive. It's too flashy and it's so not her. She says under her breath, "Fitz."
Savannah acts as if she didn't hear what she says, "Liv, I have to tell you something."
"I don't feel like talking about Edison."
"It's not about Edison. It's about Fitz," Savannah says.
Liv turns to her, "What about him?"
"He was at the restaurant tonight. I was trying to get you too together to talk. So, he."
"He saw everything," Liv says.
"Yes, he did," Savannah admits. "At least I am sure he did." Liv breaks out into tears. "I am sorry, I shouldn't have meddled in your business. I shouldn't have invited him. I didn't know that was going to happen."
"I wish you hadn't meddled," Liv says as she wipes the tears.
"I'm sorry. I thought I was helping," Savannah explains.
"I just want to be alone for a while," Liv announces.
"Liv," Savannah starts. She decides not to press more. "Okay, I'll come back to help you later."
Liv lays on her bed and just lets the tears flow. She takes the ring off her finger and sits it on the nightstand. She holds her phone to her chest, wanting to call Fitz and explain everything. She decides against it.
Fitz makes it to their house, ringing the doorbell. Eli lets him in. Savannah and Eli are surprised to see him.
"Fitz, I'm sorry," Savannah says. "I didn't know any of that was going to happen."
"Where is she?" Fitz says.
"She's in her room," Savannah says.
"Son, you have to let this go for now," Eli says.
"I can't let this go. I know something is going on. This is not what Liv wants. I know its not," Fitz says.
"I don't think it is what she wants either but for now." Eli starts.
"I want to talk to her. I must talk to her," Fitz announces as his voice heightens.
"I don't think that's a good idea," Savannah says.
"I will stay here until I do," Fitz announces. Liv is in her room; almost certain she hears Fitz. She sits up in the bed, wanting to get to her crutches. Just then, she hears a knock on the door.
"Who is it?' Liv asks.
"It's me Fitz," he says.
She swallows hard, "Come in." Fitz comes in, taking in the sight in front of him. The beautiful woman that invades his dreams every night. "Fitz, why are you here?"
Fitz stares at her intently, "For you…for us."
I know, I shouldn't have stopped here but why not…What will Fitz tell her?
